FF 4.0 "Cannot open...Not supported by this architecture."
I downloaded FF 4.0 to my iMac G5, running OS X , 10.5.8, put it in my application folder, and then dragged it to the dock.
The logo had a "forbidden" sign superimposed, and when I tried to
open FF, received the message: "Cannot be opened...not supported by this architecture."
Firefox 4.0 doesn't work with PPC Mac's.
For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4.0, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />

I just want to download Firefox 3.6 again
I downloaded Firefox 4 onto my PowerPC G4, 1.67GHz running Mac OSX 10.5.6. When I try to open it I get error message You cannot open the application “Firefox” because it is not supported on this architecture.Use Tony's suggestion. I am running it right now and it is awesome. I love Mozilla but they basically screwed all of those older Macs over. Come on Mozilla. These Macs still work, and there are plenty of people with them out there.

I have PowerBook G4, running 10.5.8. Went to upgrade and says OS too old. I went back to older version of foxfire. well my mac lion (10.4.11) will run minecraft.jar, but runs very slow , i tried downloading minecraft.zip it showed the mc logo with a x on it, i tried opening it, and it said it cant open it because there is no application to open it, do i need a higher version of mac? mainly leopard or snow leopard? If you have got 10.7 or newer, hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting and reinstall OS X. Another option is to download the OS X installer from the Mac App Store and use Pacifist to install Mac App Store.

A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.

My computer is not allowing me to utilize any version of Firefox, after multiple downloading attempts. I simply get a message that Firefox is not supported on this architecture, and the Firefox icon in my toolbar now has a circle on it with a line through it (Canceled). I hope that someone can explain what I need to do to be able to use Firefox once again. Thank you, TC

Thanks for the link to the system requirements, edmeister. However, my system appears to fit every requirements listed, but still gives the same error message.
Here is what my system profiler tells me about my Imac:
Mac OS X v. 10.5.8
Processor: 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, which Wikipedia tells me is "x86" processor
3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
My Activity Monitor says:
1.87 GB of my system memory free
303 GB of hard disk space free
Is there some explanation why I am being told Firefox 4 is not being supported on this architecture? -
