FF 5.0 - when I close it, say with 5 tabs open, then later open it again, 5 blank windows open, it doesn't restore my tabs or sites.

FF 5.0 is not reopening the tabs I had open when I closed it. It opens the number of blank windows corresponding to the number of tabs I previously had open.

Hi glivezey,
Try typing ''about:home'' into the address bar. Is that the page you are looking for? If so, go to ''Tools > Options > General'' and save it as your homepage. If that home page doesn't show up the next time you start Firefox, you should look at [[Preferences are not saved]].
Hopefully this helps!

It's not jailbroke or anything but it says the terms and conditions have changed. When I agree, it says your session has times out. Try again. But it doesn't give me an option to try again and has a done button underneath it. I press done. The textplus app says "Waiting..." and is gray. What can I do to download this app?

iTunes has to contact Apple to send your agreement to the new conditions, but your security software has to allow this contact. If blocked, you'll get a time out message. Follow the instructions here to check your security software settings: iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues

• When I start ver 4 the first time 10 to 15 blank windows open and does not remember pin tabs?

When I open version 4 the first time, 10 to 15 blank windows open up. it does not remember any pinned tabs or go to my home page.

Make sure that you not run Firefox in [[Private Browsing]] mode.
In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and some features like visited links and others are disabled and not working.
You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing".
See [[Private Browsing]] and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Issues_related_to_Private_Browsing
You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting '''Firefox will: Use custom settings for history'''
UnCheck: [[ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

Try moving these files to the Trash one at a time and test (but don't empty yet.)

I have tried everything. i have installed uninstalled it works the first time then when i close all windows and try to reopen i get a crash report. then i cant even open in safe mode. so i go through the uninstall and reinstall process again. this has been a nightmare. I hate chrome but may have no choice but to change browswers. I have had this problem before but dont remmeber what i had to change in the about:config settings to resolve.

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that have a "bp-" prefix:
*bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
You can find the Report ID of recent crash reports on the "Help > Troubleshooting Information" page (about:support).
*Click the "All Crash Reports" button on this page to open the about:crashes page and see all crash reports.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
*(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

• Why doesn't my iPad turnoff when I close the cover with ios 7?

With the new ios 7, my cover no longer turns off my iPad when I close it. It's the only reason I bought the stupid thing. Is there a way to turn teh feature back on?

I was having this problem after using a Logitech solar bluetooth keyboard pad while travelling only with an iPad. The magnet on the Logitech is only marginally strong enough and you have to be careful to get the alignment of the closed cover correct to switch off, so it may have been flicking between switching off and not switching off. After a while it stopped switching off at all and when on my return, I reverted to the normal Apple cover, the switch off was not working on that either, even though it was turned on in General Settings. I did a "reset all" in General, followed by a reboot and that has cured the problem, both with the Apple and Logitech covers.

• Why does the Welcome to firefox tab open with my google tab every time I open the browser? And why can't the browser hold any add-ons I downloaded? I loose then when I close the browser, even tool bars have to be reinstalled every time I open the browser

Every time I open the browser the Welcome to Firefox tab is the first tab, then a second tab opens and thats my google, then a 3rd tab opens for me to reinstall my toolbar. This has been happening for a good year. Updates have not fixed it. Others have this problem. I did a search for an answer, the question is out there but no answer. Now if I go into add ons and add a background Theme or an extension it all is gone when I exit the browser. When I open the browser again I get all 3 tabs and have to install my toolbar again. I DO NOT want to reinstall as I will loose all my saved data, passwords, bookmarks, everything! I have had this computer for a year, Windows Vista x64 bit. Its not the computer, it's the browser. If you have specific questions e-mail me and I will be more then happy to help

• I recently installed Norton 2012 and now when I open an e-mail in Outlook two windows open in Firefox showing the history of the sender how do I stop this from happening?

The windows that open in Firefox both have an address that starts with file:/// and then the directory on my computer to my "temporary internet files". One window displays in text only the history of the e-mails received from the sender. The second window simply says "loading"

That is a bug on Mac.
See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=531552 - Firefox 3.6b opens two windows when opening external links

• When I click images or links that should automatically open in a new window, instead a new blank window opens.

For some time now and after firefox has automatically been updated a few times, I click on images or links which are supposed to open in a new window automatically. A new window opens but it is blank with no toolbars, just an adress bar with nothnig in it.

mha007, Thank you. I walked through your suggested solutions and finally disabled all add-ons and restarted them one by one. The culprit seems to be ViewSourceWith 0.8.11. Interestingly when it is enabled I had to go to TaskManager to force Firefox to quit.
Maybe this information will help others. I don't know if the cache clearing etc helped but I would suggest that others start but Bringing up Firefox in Safe Mode (hold shift when you select the icon), disable all add-ons and then start them one by one.
Of course if you have ViewSourceWith maybe you should just disable it first rather than go through the tedium of restarting each add-on separately. To get to the add-ons when it won't open from the toolbar type about:addons in the address area.

• When I close Safari now with multiple tabs, it does not warn me I have multiple tabs open. How do I turn it on?

Safari always warned me when I had multiple tabs open before it would close. Now it closes whenever I hit the red X (close out). When I was at the Apple store ithey indicated that that is how the latest Safari works, but it is supposed to open all the tabs that were open when it is relaunched. Mine appeared to do that when I was at the Apple store, but now it does not. When it opens now, it just opens my home screen with no tabs.
Can anyone shed light on this?

One change in Firefox 4 is to by default stop Firefox displaying the warning message, but it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
# Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
# Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
# Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
# Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''

I am having a similar problem. Running Xp.
Latest revision of firefox.
After using firefox for a while if I exit, parent.lock is locked and i have to reboot to reload firefox.
I have killed all firefox applications from task manager (usually there are none). and I have tried 3 different "file unlock" programs including unlocker to no avail.
I also recently installed a program that shows -all- open files, and parent.lock is not listed, and thus not closable/unlockable from there.

• When I click on the Firefox icon on my desktop the Netscape sign on window opens and doesn't close. Firefox opens after repeated clicking but it never connects.

The wheel that says "connecting" just spins indefinitely. Does anybody know what the problem could be and how it can be fixed? This started a couple weeks ago out of the blue. It never happened before. I've been logging in to Firefox for the last couple years without any issues. Funny thing is I'm not even sure if we have Netscape. I've looked on-line for info on viruses that behave the way I've described above and I havn't found anything.
