FF 8.0.1 Issue with cursor keys

Hi,
I encounter issue with using any of the keyboard cursor arrow keys (i.e. up/down/left/right, page up/dwn) in any textboxes on any websites that I open with FireFox.
I made sure I have the latest mouse/keyboard drivers installed and I also checked the behaviour by openiung a web site using Internet Explorer where these sympthoms do not occur.
When ever I enter any text and try to press arrow left/right the cursor didn't move. It only moves when I keep pressing the cursors key. The same happens by pressing Ctrl+arrow left/right or page down/up in multiline fields.
Any advices are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Bodo

  • Issues with Fn-keys and Synaptics touchpad on Asus X51RL laptop

    Hello,
Since I installed Arch on my laptop, it's been working great. But I still have a few issues:
    1) Fn-keys do not work. The brightness Fn-keys work, but I think that's done internally by the laptop, since it works even in the BIOS. The sound Fn-keys don't work, which is the ones I really need. How can I fix this? And I read somewhere that I have to switch from the kbd drivers to the evdev driver, is that true?
    2) Since the latest update to the synaptics package in testing, the touchpad lost one-touch tapping, along with some other stuff. I know the solution is to disable hotplugging, but I sometimes need to plug in a keyboard or mouse, so I can't. How can I retain the scrolling and one-touch tapping settings from Xorg.conf AND hotplugging while using the latest synaptics?
    3) The pre-configured options for the synaptics touchpad in the archwiki are good, but not that accurate. The size of the scrolling section of the touchpad is a bit too large, among other things. It's a minor problem compared to the others, but it'd be nice to fix it. In Windows, I definitely remember the settings being more accurate. Is there a way to have the Synaptics driver autodetect like the Windows one, or am I missing something here?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

I have the S62J (Intel verified whatnot version) with this Asus, the brightness keys work. I think they are hard wired though as they work in the BIOS.
I tried the acpi-support, but I haven't had any luck with it yet. I'll have to mess with it some more to see if I'm missing something.
I'm also wondering if there isn't a different keyboard layout I should use. I notice that there is a 30-something-asus-something.fdi (I'm not on the notebook at the moment) on the system, but I don't know if it's being used by anything.
The other observation is that using the Fn button is throwing ACPI calls into my dmesg.log file. I need to research to find out how to use them.

  • Issue with cursor(200) in an IE Shockwave movie?

Has anyone else encountered or fixed this issue before?
I have my cursor hidden with cursor(200) and am using a
custom piece of art to follow the mouseLoc in its place. This workd
fine in Firefox and the executable version of the movie, however in
IE the -1 cursor will blink in over the piece of art on mouseDown.
When the cursor's position is updated or on mouseUp the cursor
resets to 200 and all is good again.
    I've tested placing:
    on mouseEnter me
    sprite(me.spriteNum).cursor = 200
    end mouseEnter
in the behaviors of my sprites to no avail.
I've gone back to some older movies created at my company
using the same code I am using and now they have this issue too,
when they did not before. Is this a known issue with the Shockwave
player? or IE? (I happened in IE6 and IE7)

  • Excel 2013 not switching cells with cursor keys

    Hello
I am currently having trouble with excel 2013 x64
When i use the cursor keys like in earlier versions of excel, instead of navigating through cells, the whole sheet scrolls by that cell in one direction. I am not sure if I have changed the settings or not and any help making it work like older versions
of excel and the 32 bit edeition.
    Thank you

Maybe you have accidentally pressed the Scroll Lock key (sometimes the key says ScrLk. Most keyboards have a light to indicate that Scroll Lock is on. Pressing the key again turns it off.

  • Keyboard issue with cursor jumping to point on the page when typing

When I type on my notebook keyboard (HP Pavilion dv6-6167cl) it frequently jumps somewhere else in the area where I previously typed causing me to stop and correct what it did and move back to where I intended to type.  I have the latest driver for my Synaptics Touchpad driver already.  Any idea why this happens.  This is my second laptop, different manufacturers where I've had this same problem so I'm beginning to think it's a common issue with notebooks.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

    tdunnusa,
It may be inherent to the way in which you use the devices (keyboard and Touch/ClickPad).  Maybe not ... the drivers are not perfect.  We can all attest to adventures with Clickpad mystery entries..
Depending on the level of touch sensitivity (located under Pointing)
AND the level in the PalmCheck-Enhanced ACM setting, things can get a bit weird;  even touching the surface lightly can set the mouse cursor off course.
    Consider / try the following:
In your Synaptics Settings > Properties,
    Open the Pointing section,
Click on Sensitivity (to highlight) >> click on Spikey blue wheel (Sensitivity settings) >
Set the sensitivity level way over to the right side (Less sensitive)
    Apply
    Next:
Click to Open PalmCheck-Enhanced ACM  >> click on Spikey blue wheel (settings)
Slide the PalmCheck over to the RIGHT to Max
    Apply
Youcan adjust the Advanced filter zone - that is, control where  you can use the TouchPad for certain gestures and how long it takes for the zone to activate.   This can help for particular kinds of gestures, though it won't help for accidentally contact like brushing the surface with the palm of your hand.
These settings, when set to maximum, are likely too extreme - they may give you an idea whether the issue is related to how you are using the TouchPad.
    Kind Regards,

This is my first topic. I have done all the research in this forum and in Google for the issue, with no luck in finding a solution. I have done several Arch linux installs before on Virtual Machines and PC's all of them working properly, except for this one that I can not get to pass the install phase.

    4 GB RAM
    300GB HD

    Wired Network Card (Working)
I'm trying to install Arch from USB drive created from another arch machine via:

The above bootleable USB drive have been used to install Arch in another machine currently running it.
After creating the partitions on the drive, namely:
    BOOT

I've had the same issue with an (outdated) Arch Linux iso. As far as I am aware, it is caused by pacman's keys becoming out of date.
I've managed to get around this before, but the exact method eludes me.
You could try just updating the archlinux-keyring package, by refreshing pacman (pacman -Sy), then reinstalling only that package (try pacman -S archlinux-keyring).
Then you should be able to continue as normal.
Note that this only affects the CD filesystem in RAM - it will not persists across reboots using the CD.
The reason why this might work is that the package archlinux-keyring might not be signed by the key you were having issues with. If it still fails, you could temporarily set the SigLevel for the core repo to 'Never', however this does disable package signing, at least until you reset the SigLevel.
Unfortunately, I could not replicate the problem in a Qemu VM, so I'm not sure how good my method is. Hopefully, it fixes the problem.

  • [Cp] Select object from the timeline and move it on slide with cursor keys ?

    Hello,
    I don't know if there's a shortcut for this :
Sometimes, it's easier to select an object from the timeline but if you try to use cursor keys to move it, you're in fact moving IN the timeline.
Is there a way to switch to Slide edition ?
    Thanks.
    PJ

You can not only use the cursor keys, but also in combination with other keys. And indeed, you have to move the cursor over the stage:

    Hello,
From today, I have noticed an issue when using the right shift button,
It seems to only work with certain keys, the ones I have noticed do not work are ?  and :
these works ok when using Left Shift
Right shift works ok for other keys.

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply, I dont have one with me at present,
I find it strange, as I would normally agree with you but...
The shift key works ok when used with other buttons indicating the shift key is ok.
the ? and the : button work ok when no shift modifyer is present or when the shift key on the left hand side is used.
proving both bottons work just not when used together

  • My pages stopped scrolling with cursor keys after upgrading to 5.0, the cursor moves WITHIN html documents and "jumps" from frame to frame and character to character within the frame.

Recently, I noticed that google search pages stopped scrolling. There is an "right arrow" at the beginning of each link. When I press the cursor "up/down" arrow on the keyboard, the cursor jumps from link to link. Also, while on any html webpage, the cursor moves one character at a time (left / right arrow) and one line at a time (up/down arrow) until the end of that frame is reached, it then jumps to the next frame.

  • Interesting 1-1/1-M issue with dual keys

Let's say I have a table in my database called COMMENTS that holds comments made about many different kinds of entities in the database. That is, COMMENTS is a table that can be joined with several tables to get comments about that object. For example, I have 3 tables:
    COMMENTS
    id
    objCode
    objID
    comment
    USERS
    id
    objCode
    name
    ISSUES
    id
    objCode
    name
    With Data:
    COMMENTS
    1 USER 1 'my comment 1'
    2 USER 1 'my comment 2'
3 USER 2 'my comment about a different user'
4 ISSU 1 'my comment about issue 1'
    USERS
    1 USER 'Bob'
    2 USER 'Terry'
    ISSUES
    1 ISSU 'Important Issue'
    So, I have a 1-M relationship between USERS-COMMENTS, and a 1-M relationship between USERS-ISSUES. This works fine.
The problem is in the 1-1 relationship from COMMENTS back to USERS and ISSUES. If I create a 1-1 relationship back on this table I get weird results...Let's focus solely on COMMENTS-USERS
I'm using addForeignKeyFieldName(String, String) on the OneToOneMapping twice to create the mapping from.
    addForeignKeyFieldName("COMMENTS.OBJID", "USERS.ID");
    addForeignKeyFieldName("COMMENTS.OBJCODE", "USERS.OBJCODE");
It is lazily retrieved. The PROBLEM IS THIS:
If I load up all my COMMENT objects and call "getUser()" on them, EVERY object retuns the USER than matches the "OBJID" value. That is, COMMENT 4 returns USER 1 rather than NULL (it is an ISSUE comment, not a USER comment).
I'm guessing this is related to the way ValueHolders know if there is a cache hit (probably uses the primary key of the object). However, I don't want to make ID/OBJCODE the primary key for USERS, I just want the ValueHolder to get it right on this read.
Is there a way for the ValueHolder in COMMENTS.getUsers() to recognize that a value of 1 for a ISSUE is different than a value of 1 for a USER?

Here is how TopLink will behave in this situation. When you issue the getUser() call, TopLink will take the expression stored in the value holder and check the cache based on the primary key* part of that expression. In you case, it will probably find a match. Then it will use the Mappings of the User object and compare the data in the mappings with the expression. This will not pass in your case, so a cache hit won't happen.
Then the SQL will be issued, and in your case nothing should get returned.
Is SQL getting logged? What type of mapping is you Object code on User being stored in? Is it something other than a direct to field?
*Note this is configurable.  You can set you queries to check by exact primary key, and avoid the cache hit unless the query contains nothing but the primary key.

  • Issues with 'stuck' keys on new iMac (2011) with Aluminium KB

    Hi All,
I've got a weird issue which I've seen on a few other forums... with no real fix. I've got a new 27" iMac (2011) and I have been using it happily for a few weeks. In the last two days, my keyboard has been going a little crazy.
Firstly I thought it funny that the 'option' key wouldn't work during bootup and later I discovered that once booted in OSX, i'd have 'sticky' keys or keys not registering when pressed.
When I reset the keyboard, everything works fine again.
Its becoming a problem as I cannot register an of the bootup options anymore and have reverted to using an old Remote to access my boot volume screen (holding the Menu button).
Has anyone seen this before and if so, what is the fix other than taking the keyboard back to the Mac store?
    Thanks again,
    Con

    Hi Cabakroll,
Yeah, I've been doing regular updates (when available). I have actually figured out the issue... its a very weird fix mind you. I went back to see what changed the other day, when I first notice the issue. I recalled that I swapped out the batteries (the ones that came with it were running low for some reason), with rechargables.
Since then, the keyboard has been going crazy. I swapped the rechargables with normal batteries and bingo, problem fixed. :S
Thanks for getting back to me though.
    Hopefully this helps others too.

  • ONEKEY IDEACENTRE PROBLEMS - issues with one key boot

    HI there.
I've been reading about problems with onekey while having similar "free up buffer errors" and "please create a new base backup." messages coming up all the time. Every 1 to 4 days
The message started coming up every 4 days and the base backup started taking 1hour then 2 hours,
then the next time 3 hours.
But I was not storing anymore data on my hard drive. In fact, I had freed up space by deleting some old files I didn't need.
    Anyway,
Finally I decided to turn off Lenovo Backup, as many have suggested on this forum.
My PC restarted no worries then onekey came up with a updating your system? And took 10 minutes to reach one percent! Then another 10 minutes to reach 2 percent.
At that rate it would take 14 hours plus to update. That's ridiculous.
Also I had turned onekey OFF.. not clicked on update my base back up so why the updating
The API call must have failed or somethings buggy with onekey.
At 6 percent (the one hour mark it was clear something was wrong with the speed of the update.)
The PC was running fine in all respects other than onekey messages.
I tried to boot to a recovery CD but no boot device worked before ONE key comes up with it's screen.
Please could someone offer some suggestions, or PM me a way to bypass the one key at boot so I can do a clean reinstall back to factory settings. I've tried choosing the restore to factory image, from the LVT pre windows menu. But still it begins to update at 10 minutes per percent. A Solution may help others with similar onekey problems too.
I'm now using my old backup PC.
I've seen a lot of PC issues, and this is a software issue, The hardware is fine and my PC is new.
Something is up with onekey and the way it runs its software previous to windows booting, and the way the one key pre-OS does not allow the PC to boot from the CD DRIVE or USB DRIVE even if those devices are choosen as first boot options.
    Thank you very much,
    Gadget
PS. There must be a key combo or method to stop or bypass onekey running at boot rather then onekey bypassing all other normal and reasonable boot options so that I can use the restore CD and go back to the factory setup OS. Thanks again

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Titan,
Thanks for this. I'll look into it and see what the changelog says about OKRUPDATE_V3.EXE for next time.
To cut a long story short, after much discussion about the issue,  A very helpful person from Lenovo Tech support suggested we try system recovery (f2 key pre-windows) back to factory restore again, even though it had not worked the first time.
Well the second time it worked. So I went back to factory install of image. I'll not use, for now, onekey restore until I know more about this new version of OKRUPDATE. But It's good to know its there and I'll look into OKRUPDATE_V3
Hats of to the tech support person, and to you folks for your suggestions....
    Thanks....
    Problem solved.
    Gadget,
PS. after doing the system recovery back to factory restore, the bios boot order now works too.

  • Strange issue with "Enter" key in Vista on Satellite P300-225

A few weeks ago, I don't recall exactly when, Windows Vista on my Satellite P300-225 started to pass an incorrect scancode to applications when the Enter key is pressed. It always sends the scancode of the Keypad Enter key, even when I hit the one in the alphanumeric part of the keyboard. It did work correctly some time ago, but suddenly, it just started acting like this. No remapping of any keys.
Since there are quite a few programs that act different on these two keys, this has become quite an annoying issue.
The strangest part of it is, that the problem seems to be somehow related to Windows Vista, since the keys are correctly reported on Linux.
If anybody has a clue, please, let me know.

Yes, it almost certainly is a keymapping issue related to Vista. Reinstalling Vista isn't a way to go, it's not worth the effort (the recovery DVDs would comletely wipe out everything from my harddisk so I'd have to move all my data away and then restore, reinstall Linux et cetera). I'll give a try to uninstalling the keyboard in safe mode though.
Anyway, it almost looks like some Windows update is responsible for this, since I have automatic updates enabled and it installs something everytime I boot it. I don't know about any program I installed before this happend that could possibly alter the mappings. (...and the registry key used for this is empty.)

  • Issues with cursor properties in Multi-Track and highlighting in Waveform

Hi all. Any suggestions for making the mouse work as in 3.0?  In multi-track, I need left-click to select regions and right-click to only move files around. When I'm working with short clips in longer show segments, the short clip is often times so visibly small that I can't right-click on it to move - right-click only brings up "spline-curves" on either side of it, which is of no use to my workflow at all.  I'd also ask for the ability to highlight with the shift-forward arrow combo again. I used that extensively in show editing on the fly in 3.01 and find myself going mad without it. Other than these inconveniences, I'm adapting nicely to CS6 so far. MP2 support was a most-welcome add for my line of work.
    -Darren

    Hi Darren,
The Left-Click to Time Select, Right-Click to Move behavior should work as expected if you have the Time-Selection tool selected.    If you right-click and drag a clip it will move, if you drag in the clip header, it will drag a proxy and you can choose to move, copy, or create a unique clip.
To select the next clip in a track, the default shortcut is ALT+Right Arrow on Windows, OPTION+Right Arrow on Mac.  You can customize this under Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts > Edit > Select Next Clip in Selected Track.
The SHIFT+Arrow Keys shortcut to make a selection is a little different than before, but should be more flexible.  With the playhead where you want it you can press SHIFT+CTRL+Right Arrow to begin a selection forward, or SHIFT+Left Arrow to begin a selection backward.  Once the selection above a certain minimum duration exists, SHIFT+Left/Right Arrow will adjust the In-Point, CTRL+Left/Right Arrow will adjust the out-point.  These can all be customized under Keyboard Shortcuts > Edit > Adjust ...
