FF always opens in 2nd monitor

I have dual monitors and occasionally set my 2nd monitor as the primary when testing software. On reverting back to use my 1st monitor as primary (using display settings) I find FF disregards the changed setting and always opens on the second monitor. Reboot does not resolve the problem. All other apps open in primary.
Any way to resolve this?

Maybe it was fixed in newer versions of Firefox? You are using Firefox 3.5.
If you see that Firefox 3.6 has the same problem, read [https://support.mozilla.com/en-us/kb/basic+troubleshooting this] and, if you see it's a bug with Firefox, file a bug at [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org bugzilla], if it hasn't been filed before.

  • Logic always opens on 2nd monitor!

    Hi,
I am using Logic Studio 9.0.1 under SnowLeopard. I have the annoying problem that my Logic always opens on my 2nd monitor, even when I create a new project.
    How can I change this?
    Thanks in advance.

Check to make sure that your 2nd monitor is not setup as the primary monitor. I have 2 monitors as well and primary is on my left and 2nd on right. Take a look in the system pref to see if thats the case. have you tried swaping the cables on the video card?

    Hi
As a photographer, I am really liking Pages for creating a pdf for clients to download from my website.
Only thing is that the pdf always opens on 2nd page (not first) - at least on my computer.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Mnkbsnss
Thanks for quick reply & nice thought.
However, when I go to print the pdf, it shows 1st page as the cover photo & 1st page ready to print.
It's really only when opening the doc up that it starts at page 2.
    But thx again

  • Dual monitor - force new windows to always open on primary monitor?

I use my secondary monitor to watch streaming TV in internet browser windows.  When I have finished watching streaming TV and the secondary monitor is switched off, Safari still opens new browser windows on the secondary monitor by default (presumably due to the fact that the last active browser window was open on the secondary monitor).  This is irritating and means I have to switch the secondary monitor back on to drag the new browser window back to the primary display.  The secondary monitor is connected by VGA.
This is a minor niggle, rather than a major issue, but it is irritating nevertheless!  Does anyone know if there is a way to force new windows to always open on primary monitor, regardless of where the last active window was?
    Any help much appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Ben

After many days i found solution:
Run the client and get it set up the way you prefer, or Open your saved RDP file
On the Display tab, choose a non-fullscreen resolution.
On the General tab, click "delete these credentials", if possible.
    Click Connect .
You will immediately get a local login dialog. Leave it blank and click
    OK .
When you are connected and the remote login dialog appears, drag the window to the desired monitor.
On the remote login dialog, click Cancel . The settings dialog should reappear locally.
On the Display tab, you can now choose fullscreen.
You can now save your session with the Save button on the
General tab, as well as save your login credentials.
Try more times ,worked for me.

  • Plugin opening on 2nd monitor

I have a 2nd monitor hooked up to my Macbook pro. I have the mixer on the 2nd monitor however whenever I open a plugin for the first time it always opens on the laptop screen, even though I open it from the mixer on the second monitor. Once I move the plugin to the 2nd screen it then always opens there. How do I change this behavior so that the plugins default to the second monitor? Thanks.

I use my Apple Cinema Display as my primary monitor. I do use the application frame though do not HAVE to. But I then have used all the pallets that I can open and have dragged them onto my laptop. So I can then use the F key to go to full screen on my ACD and still use the tab key to see all the pallets but can keep them on the laptop screen and use anytime during editing. This is the only way I can figure out how to have a full screen image and the tools on the other scree, the laptop.
I then use the F key only to go to a toolbar that may have some options needed. Like changing sponge from saturate to desaturate.
This seems to work the best. I then saved this desktop arrangement as Dual Monitor and can go to Essential or anything else when needed.
    Hope that helps...

  • How to force AMSN to open in 2nd monitor only?

    Hi
I've been trying to force amsn to only open on my 2nd monitor with no success. Other programs, such as iTunes, Mac MSN messenger all stay on that monitor but amsn always reverts back to primary.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
    Thanks for your help.

If you want to save the tabs in multiple windows in the sessionstore.js file when you close Firefox then you have to use the Firefox Exit/Quit menu item or button in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button to close all open windows at once.
Otherwise you only save the tabs in the last closed window and you may have to look for History > Recently Closed Windows or "History > Restore Previous Session" to reopen closed window.

  • Always opens in main monitor

Everytime I launch Firefox, it opens in the main monitor. Before updating to the latest version V.12, it was opening in the secondary monitor of my system.
I've tried to reduce and drag the windows and put it into the secondary monitor and rebooting and it always comes back to the main monitor.

I too have the same problem on OS 10.6.8. I downloaded Firefox 11.0 and that version opened correctly on the secondary monitor the very first time. It's interesting that it was able to recognize which screen to start on without even going through the steps to open, close and reopen on the desired monitor. Evidently, version 12 made the internal setting but chose to ignore it.
It sure would be nice to have an option in preferences something like:
    * Open new windows on the same monitor as last used
    * Always open new windows on primary monitor
    * Always open new windows on secondary monitor (if available)
    Update:
Drat! Did an update thinking it would take me to the highest version of FF 11 and it took me to 13. It also ignored which monitor windows should open on. Back to 11... [rolls eyes]

  • CS5; Image always opens on last monitor used instead of main monitor

This problem is back. In CS4, when you opened an image it would always open on your main monitor regardless of which monitor you closed your last image. I have three monitors running and this is really annoying. CS4 was the only version I know of that didn't do this. I wish CS5 didn't do this. Dare I wish they would return to way it works in CS4?

Opening a new document on the last used monitor is as designed. When the behavior changed to always use the main monitor in CS4, we got a number of requests to return to the old behavior.
If you have a document open on your main monitor and your secondary monitor and then close the document on the secondary monitor, then a new document will open on the main monitor, so a possible (although not great) work around for you is to have a small "dummy" document open on the main monitor.

  • Preview opens in 2nd monitor

I have a 2nd monitor above my main monitor.
Whenever Preview opens a file, it puts it on the 2nd screen.....only when it is placed "above" the main. Sides and bottom work fine.
Trashed caches, preferences, permissions, etc. Obviously, I have moved the monitor arrangement.
(I have seen this issue on the boards, but no one answers the question.)

That was the first thing I did. And it should have worked.
    I also
    expanded->Quit.
    expanded->expanded->Quit.
swapped Main monitors(switched where the menu bar shows up)
    nada.

  • ITunes doesn't always stay on 2nd monitor

This is a new issue which I have submitted to the Apple bug site.    But I'm wondering if anybody else has seen it.
I have a new 27" iMac which I keep current, and an old 2nd monitor which I keep to its right.    I always have iTunes on that monitor which is in portrait mode.
in the last month about 6-8 times I have gotten up in the morning to discover iTunes has moved over to my iMac's screen.   Weird.
I get the feeling not many people use a second monitor the way I do.   I know that when I upgraded my VMware Fusion a couple of years ago, it was difficult to set it up so that it only used my old iMac's screen.
When I restart my computer,  I have a program, SimpleFloatingClock, which never comes up where I left it on my 2nd monitor.   But iTunes always comes up on the 2nd monitor where it's supposed to.
My old Mac couldn't have the setting where it turns on to check my mail all night.   So maybe sometimes when it checks the e-mail, it thinks my other monitor is missing.    My old monitor needed a new converter to use Thunderbolt on my new computer.

That didn't work.   iTunes on my 2nd monitor is still full screen over there.   On this monitor, I can use the green button to make Mail or Safari full screen and then press ESC to get it back.    If I hit the green button on Chrome, it acts the old way.
But if I click on iTunes on the other monitor, ESC doesn't do anything.   Double clicking the top doesn't do anything.   Right clicking iTunes (on my main monitor), and selecting Hide or Show doesn't do anything.
    Found it!
If I very, very carefully get my cursor on the top left of the 2nd monitor, the task bar for that window pops up.   The red and yellow dots are greyed out, but I can click the green button and get it working.    And I can finally resize.
I'm guessing that part isn't a bug, but just an ugly, difficult, design.   Very ugly.
But the rest of this certainly is one or two bugs.

  • 2 monitors; Firefox always opens in secondary monitor never main monitor. What is wrong?

I have 2 monitors with my desktop. No matter what I do, I cannot get Firefox to open on my main (No. 1) monitor. It always defaults to Monitor No. 2. This is frustrating particularly when I log in remotely and am working at the remote site with just one monitor, I cannot use Firefox because when I open it it goes to the secondary monitor and I can't retrieve it to move it to No. 1.
    Thank you.

If Firefox is maximized then make the window smaller and drag that window over to the correct monitor and close Firefox to save that setting.<br />
After restarting you can maximize again.

  • Audio edit window opens in '2nd monitor' and there is NO 2nd monitor!

    Hi,
Often when I work from home I use two monitors. When I travel and don't have access to a second screen I make do. However, I've ran into a huge issue! Whenever I choose to edit or add audio, it opens on a second monitor even when I'm not attatched to one! The window is off screen and unreachable. I usually have to do my best to find another monitor I can plug and unplug into. That fixes the issue. For the mean time I'm not able to do anything to the main Captivate screen. Is this an issue somewhere in settings? and/or what can I do so I don't have to force quite my project (can't save with audio window open).
    Windows 8
    Captivate Version 7

    Hi there
Unfortunately because the way Adobe writes their applications, this dialog doesn't have a menu as one would see in a Microsoft application. So this nifty little trick is useless with Captivate.
    Cheers... Rick

  • When using 2 monitors, Finder always displays on primary monitor even after dragging to 2nd monitor.

How can I set Finder to display to 2nd monitor.  I drag it to the second monitor, but it still display on primary monitor when next opened.

Thank you for your reply. No other program behaves this way, even PhotoShop CS4. It is related to how the program handles OS events.
It is probably a problem with the Windows WM_GETMINMAXINFO and WM_SIZE handlers. My guess is that program stores the maximized size (and it always fills the screen at start-up) and it query to see if it is dragged to a larger screen.
Of course, this theory doesn't address the disappearing program behavior when maximized on the secondary monitor. Since I don't have another OS, I cannot check if it is Vista related or Windows related. Because of the difference in architecture, I'd be surprised if it happened on a Mac, too.

  • I closed FF in my 2nd monitor, now it will only open there, why?

I have moved it from the 2nd monitor to the primary and closed it there. I have cleared ALL the History/cookies, I have cleared Sessions. Nothing seems to make it open back up in monitor one. This happened one time before and all I did was move it over to the correct monitor and close it there and it worked fine. This time, I can't seem to make it do what it's supposed to do. I really want it to open on monitor one because I don't alway have the other one on and it's really annoying when it opens there and I think I'm still waiting for it.

It's fairly common that Windows programs remember the location of the last closed Window. <s>Can you drag it back to monitor 1 and close it there the next time?</s> <u>''I see that hasn't worked.''</u>
If not, you can rename or delete the file that stores this position information. Unfortunately, that also will clear your toolbar customizations. Here's how:
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Switch back to Firefox and Exit
Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename '''localstore.rdf''' to something like localstore.old
Restart Firefox. Window position and toolbars should be restored to default.
(In theory, it's possible to edit localstore.rdf if you want to try that first, but the format doesn't seem well documented.)
