  • Wireless cutting out with lots of disk access

This happening to anyone else? It's happened to me twice today, but if I'm writing to the disk a lot, either from a wired computer or a wireless one, the wireless network sometimes goes away and won't come back with out a base station reset.

Has anyone seen anything like this?
Basically, try to xfer a lot of data to the drive, or R/W from it a lot, and wireless fails. I lose all wireless connectivity from an XP box running 802.11g, a Powerbook on 802.11 g, and an airport express running 802.11b.
My wired XP box keeps working fine.
This has happened 4 times now. In at least one case, I had to power cycle the base station. The other times, I just had to access it via the utility and make it restart via the update button -- w/ or w/o config change.

  • IMac Seems slow and lots of disk access.

I bought my first iMac a few months ago. However recently the iMac seems to have got really slow. I use it for Lightroom and Photoshop.
Without either of these 2 programs open for example I can just try opening entourage or any other program even Safari sometimes and the disk will just go mad and churn away and it can take ages for the program to open.
How do I find out whats causing the system to go slow? or is this just something I have to live with?

I think the problem could be excessive memory usage.
Just from looking in activity monitor when I have a few progs open.
    Photoshop 1.96GB
    Lightroom 539MB
    Safari 236MB
Also under system memory it says ;-
    Free : 27MB
    Wired : 762MB
    Active : 2.17GB
    Inactive : 1.07GB
    Used : 3.98GB
    Page Ins : 1.41GB
    Page Outs : 1.36GB
    Swap Used : 3.14GB
Does it look like my mac is paging to the disk excessively?

  • Firefox 34.0.5 says Adobe Flash plugin is blocked, but update check reports my Flash plugin (ver. 16.0.0.235) is current. How to fix???

About 1 month ago, I updated Flash and Firefox to most current versions. Firefox 34.0.5, running on WinXP, SP3, shows Adobe Flash plugin as ver. 16.0.0.235, but this is now being blocked again. No other versions of Flash are evident. When I choose option on Flash screen to check plugins are up to date, Firefox reports Flash plugin is up to date.
This program behaviour is wrong and should be fixed. Checking at Adobe, current Flash is 16.0.0.305.
Who or what is broken here? Is Firefox broken, and not reporting correctly that more current Flash plugin is available?
I do not appear to have previous versions of Flash installed on system. This combo of software was working correctly for a while, and then became broken, without a proper path to allow users to resolve it. If Firefox is rigged to "Block" a plugin, then it *MUST* be configured to easily and **CORRECTLY** allow that plugin to be updated. Using most current software, my clicking on the "Check for updates" feature reports that Adobe Flash is most current version. Arrrrgh!!
I am now back to "diagnose and fix broken Firefox+Flash" exercise, which I just went thru.
Best solution here would be to allow user to easily override the "blocking" mechanism. This would assist users who only use Flash video access on trusted sites.
If there is an obvious solution to this current Flash "BLocking" goofery, please inform. Otherwise, if and when I resolve this, I will post a reply to my own question here, indicating what I did to fix this, as it appears to be affecting other Firefox+Flash users, without a clear solution being posted.

Adobe issued 3 new Flash 16 versions in January alone, then another new one - .305 - in February, ''along with one in early December. Five new versions in 2 months time''. So with updating Flash "about 1 month ago", you are probably 2 or 3 versions behind the latest Flash 16 version.
Note that Adobe has its own internal updater, which by default is set to check for an update ''(only)'' once a month. Adobe does their own updates for their software, Firefox just tells you when your version is on the blocklist due to known security issues with the version you have installed. It is up to you to do a manual update between the monthly update check that Flash does for your installation.
The "solution" is for Adobe to fix their stuff. Like maybe an updater that checks for updates more frequently, and not hide their updater user preferences where users don't know where they are and be able to set it for more a frequent update check cycle. ''[Firefox "checks" every time Firefox is launched, as does Chrome]''. Or fix the code in Flash that leads to it being so exploitable, and not have to do 5 separate security fixes in as little as a 2 month time span. ''Flash went almost 2 years prior to Dec 2014 without Mozilla needing to blocklist it, and when Mozilla did first blocklist it in Dec it was / is a soft-block where the user can still use it by using Allow per Flash presentation.''
My advice is to grab the Extended Support Release - Flash Player 13.0.0.269 from here - https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html - over 3/4 down that page. IMO the best version for WinXP users, as the later versions have features for Vista and later versions of Windows - won't work on WinXP or may cause problems on WinXP.

I agree with you, I tried different SOL editor and it work
    when i tried.
I believe what I used was more than SOL explorer/reader
    rather then editor
even tho it has this option is seem the file stop working and
    hence the
problem I was claiming about the files not work properly.
Perhaps it was changing something and flash did not like
    these changes.
Anyhow, I did try another tool and did manage to work.
    Thanks

Won't comment on that one :) Something just seem way
    unnecessary and silly...

  • Flash plugin install fails silently on Win 8.1.

Reports success. But the adobe site which checks for it verifies it is not there and firefox keeps asking for it.
Tried all listed methods at mozilla and adobe pages. This started a couple of weeks ago. I have Firefox 33.1.1.
I'd like to do a manual install. But the directory where adobe is putting its files (under Windows, SysWOW something containing MacroMed dir) does not contain any files with the file types the manual install wizard requires ( .xpi and.jar).
This is the last bin in the flash install log:

    Hi,
I'm a bit confused with your description, as you said adobe flash player couldn't play any vedio. How about Youtube vedio? Does it works fine?
It would be better to provide an example link for your problem, then I would made an test for you.

  • No matter how many uninstalls and reinstalls Firefox 4 will not play flash videos w the latest flash plugin installed. What do I do to get flash videos to play like everyone esle can?

Trying to solve my non-playing flash videos wherever I surf in Firefox 401 w Flash plugin 10.2.159.1, such as CNN or anywhere really while surfing. Even at the Adobe web site I cannot play demo videos and I own CS4 Suite. I can play any YouTube video I select.
I surf in Firefox 401 w Flash plugin 10.2.159.1. Don't tell me to UNINSTALL then REINSTALL the flash player as I have done that too many times.
I logged out and logged into my clean account where I install nothing. No joy.
What the heck is the problem? No one else seems to have this problem as I am told many play CNN videos fine.

    Hi arpriltime,
Have you looked at our [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-or-flash-plugin-crashes Flash plugin troubleshooting section]? There is a lot of useful information in there that should help you get to the bottom of your issue.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Flash plugin crashes constantly

I just purchased a HP laptop with Windows 7 Home. 64 bit.
When i first booted it up, I installed firefox and google chrome, both the newest versions. I logged onto facebook, and could do everything just fine. Played 4 different games that use flash and they ran perfectly.Worked for roughly 2 hours.
Then suddenly it stopped. I got the grey screen that says "the adobe flash plugin has crashed" I've sent like 6 error reports. I tried it in IE8 (both 32 and 64 bit), FF 3.6.8, and Google Chrome (both of those 32 bit, since flash player doesnt work with 64 bit)  (whatever the latest version is for chrome as i already uninstalled it in frusrtation) and it freezes and/or crashes as soon as the game loads. It even freezes when I go to adobe's pages to check my version of flash. It's WIN 10,1,82,76, though ive had to load the page about 4 times to scribble that down since it crashes.
I've looked up every help file I can. I've cleared cache, checked cookie settings, made sure all pop up blockers are disabled, turned off all security settings and firewalls. I've unstalled and reinstalled flahs player at least 6 times and uninstalled and reinstalled firefox 3 times. I went into the about:config settings and adjusted the timeout to -1 rather than the default 45....which did nothing except keep the page frozen then giving me the gray screen which at least let me go to a different webpage.
I've turned off hardware accelaration in the flash settings as well.
I've rebooted and computer on 4 occasions now, and even shut it down and left it sit for 6 hours just in case it just needed a rest. Still nothing, and I'm getting desparate, as I have never had this problem before on any machine I have run. I thought maybe it was a firefox issue however it's happenening on IE and chrome, I just dont get the handy "error report" page since it appears that is a firefox feature. IE and chrome just freeze, leaving me no option but to go into task manager and cancel them or reboot. Both scenarios I have left the screen alone for half an hour in case it was being REALLLLLLLY slow. No luck.

BAD ATTITUDE...the poor frustrated guy cant get a fix, and you are p*ssed at him for being frustrated....I appreciate that you are trying to help, but if you cant fix it easily you give up....how about you spend some time like I did and get intouch with Adobe to remind them that their users are having a lot of issues with Flash that they are not addressing?...may save you some time helping in the long run....unless you enjoy the suffering of others!

  • Firefox 16.0.1 Crashes, Not Responding with Unresponsive Script Warnings and Adobe Flash Plugin Crashes

    Hello,
I'm experiencing some issues with Firefox 16.0.1 which I had also experienced with Firefox 15.0.1.
On numerous occasions Firefox has crashed while attempting to access a website link contained in an AOL e-mail message.
Unrelated to that issue, Firefox has hung up frequently with associated unresponsive script warnings and occasionally with the Adobe Flash Plugin crashing. Some of the unresponsive script warnings are:

I've reset Firefox and disabled all the plugins and yet these problems persist.
What are those script warnings actually telling me and are there any recommendations on how to resolve these issues?
    Thank you,

You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Adobe flash plugin is making my firefox crash

At the Beginning of the month, my FF started acting weird. After disabling DEP (which caused a whole lot of other problems) my FF started runing for about one day. After about a week of playing with it, I narrowed my problem to flash player. If I disable it, everything works fine, but i like watching videos. I currently have norton and i don't know what to do! help!

Very odd issue indeed. [[Managing the Flash plugin]] click this link and read threw how to uninstall it and reinstall.
You could also try new [[Profiles]] to see if something is corrupting the plug-ins report.

  • Flash plugin has crashed and I have tried all the solutions given on the site..never happened before until i updated firefox for the past 1-2 months?

Flash plugin crashes a lot more frequently since I updated it (the past month or so??) I have tried the latest Firefox version 3 and updated it to version 4.
I have tried all the solutions given such as complete uninstalling or changing the integer to -1

I'm not sure anyone here knows more about the Java plugin than you do...
Were you starting the control panel from disk as administrator because it didn't work starting it through the Start menu (if you have Control Panel set to View by Category, the Java control panel is under "Programs").

  • Flash plugin for Firefox: it has trouble after 6-9 hours!

    Hi,
Vista32 sp2, 4GB Ram, ALL Adobe Flash plugin for FF versions, now 11.1.102.55.
    perhaps dxdiag.txt needed?
    Issue:
when Firefox 3.6 (in the past) or 8.0 (now) remains open, after 6-9 hours I become issues with Flash plugin for FF.
ALL YT videos (240p up to 1080p) playback with jumpiness!! with or without acceleration.
ActiveX for IE9 works fine on the same machine. No problem with Silverlight in FF.
Solution: kill the flash plugin process in task manager >refresh the YT video's page > playback again ok.
why the flash plugin is fatigued after 6 or 9 hours?
is it able to handle good the memory usage?
May you want to suggest me a workaround to get the video's palyback smoothly even if Firefox is running a lot of time (without killing the process in task manager)?
or could I to wait for an update of flash plugin in the future that adresses this issue?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    best regards.

I warmly hope that the Adobe Engineers will read and reproduce my issue and they may want to send me an email if the issue will be resolved.
    this were wonderfull.
my OS/hardware seems not too old
no problem in watching/editing full HD content.
if you mean that my bug report looks correct and exhaustive, please forward him to the developers.
(I hope that the report will not be closed, even if it becomes poor votes). thanks.
    @ ɹəuəllıʍ :
Yes the same problem in Firefox 8.0 too
(in my old FF 3.6: no issues regarding the jumpiness in Silverlight, therefore I think that this was/is perhaps an issue in "Flash player for FF" only: jumpiness after 6-9 hours usage).
But the new FF 8.0 offers the same behaviour after 6-9 hours.
    @both Campbell and ɹəuəllıʍ:

Via Javascripting. Look for Flash detection kits at the
    Adobe/Maromedia web
site and also at Internet search engines.
As well this forum focuses on database access issues and you
    might find more
takers for this type of question in the Flash General forum.
