. FF Ver 4 is very slow and does perform as well as 3.6. I uninstalled 4 after downloading ver 3.6.16 and that is causing colorfultabs not to color and the Add-ons page is freezing making it unable to use it. Ver 4 runs very slow. Please help.
It seems my machine does not like your ver4 and 3.6.16. I want the ver prior to 3.6.16. . Since the last 2 updates have not been able to use FF to browse or play Webkinz. It is way too slow. Following the install of 3.6.16 the Colorfultabs is not working and I can't fix it or adjust it because the Add-ons list/page freezes. I have removed/disabled several add-ons and extensions and nothing seems to help. If it were not for IE I would not be able to use my machine. I have 2.5 GB of memory and 30 percent plus of free space on my hard drive. I use Windows XP SP3 if that makes a difference. I don't think I need a lot of add-ons but need to know what I can remove. The feature to open FF without any add-ons is gone for some reason. Please give me back my simple smooth operating FF. Thank you.
I had all the dot nets in add/remove but discovered they were not installed. Got all up to date. Puter is 2005, I have all that U listed except Win7. I just don't know if I need that or not. Did U say that I need more than the 2.5 GB
memory that I have? Please tell me why Win7 is better than WinXP.
FF is running much better now but Webkinz accounts are still loading slower than in IE. I am wondering if maybe I should totally remove all of FF including customizations and personal info and start over fresh with a clean install of ver 4. I am still using ver 3.6.16. Is it possible that this is reason for Webkinz (a flash, java and Unity game) not loading good? Also, are there some of the Plug-ins that I can remove? What Audio players do I need? I have wmp, real player, aol media playback, realarcade, realjukebox, also is Zylom usable? Thank you so much for your help.

I have already seen some suggested solutions to the problem of this extremely annoying Yahoo DNS error solutions page, but they involve going to the add-ons page of firefox and disabling various add-ons. The issue is that even when I try to go to the add-ons page I get immediately redirected to the Yahoo DNS solutions page again.
I have cleared my browser history and cache, hoping it would help, but nothing. Extremely annoying as I never installed anything - it simply started after a Firefox upgrade.

I have twice downloaded the latest version in the last month. Each time I encountered the same problems. the Weather Channel add-on I have did NOT appear in the latest version. When I open a web page from Bookmarks it is painfully slow to load.
This is NOT an improved version. I have been using Firefox for years without problems; I prefer it to Internet Explorer. However the latest 'improved' version may change my mind.The problem is that the Add-ons Manager tab when opened the first time, is on "Get Add-ons" section and that must be downloaded from the Add-ons server which might be overburdened.

Firefox keeps opening the Add-ons page
Whenever I launch Firefox or open a new tab, the add-ons page opens. This has been happening since I updated to Firefox 4 a few days ago. I've tried disabling all the add-ons I have but it makes no difference. I've also turned off updates for add-ons, that didn't help either.
I'm running Windows XP.

I cannot connect to the add-ons page to get new ones
When I go to Tools, add-ons, I get the "What are add-ons?" and it tells me that when I connect to the internet the panel will feature many options.
I am online why can I not connect to the add-ons page?
DanThere have been a number of issues with server problems over the last few days. Try to go to that Mozilla page again. The issues have been intermittent and could return at any time until a final resolution is found. This forum page has also been affected by the problem(s).

I recently had to reset my plugins using Firefox 12 in safemode to get rid of an extension/add-on causing a redirect problem. All has been well, except a plugin I needed no longer works. It is called "missing-e" and is for Tumblr.
I have tried reinstalling it at least 5 times, per their instructions, and am now here after they said it was a browser issue. I do get prompted to install it to firefox, I have it install, I get the message it was installed correctly - but then it never shows up in either the Extensions or Plugins area under Add-Ons area (though nothing ever shows up in Extensions). And the features it enables in tumblr are not enabled.
The 'missing-e' people sent me here saying they believe this is a browser problem.Are you talking about plugins or extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) as you mention Safe mode?
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

My Google toolbar was working fine earlier this morning. A few hours later, the search window stopped opening new tabs. I did some snooping and discovered that none of my extension add-ons were showing up in the add-ons tab. However, the appearance and plug-ins are still listed. When I click on the Extensions tab there is just a small box that says "You don't have any add-ons of this type installed." However, my Google toolbar, Add Blocker, and Awesome Screenshot etc. is still visible in the FF interface. When I try to uninstall the Google toolbar using the options button on the toolbar itself, nothing happens. What's up?

Afterwords there were some changes in Add-ons that were enabled/disabled that then had to be straightened out.
I disabled Test Pilot which was in the process of testing thinking that it might have had something to do with the problem. I have not updated to the latest version of 5.0 because one favorite Add-on [Firegestures] is supposed to be incompatible. -
Adobe Flashplayer does does not stay disabled in the add ons
When I disable Flashplayer in the add ons it will re-enbable when Firefox is restarted, and it will re-enable during browsing.
Delete the file pluginreg.dat in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and let Firefox rebuild a new version.

MetaStream 3 is listed as one of my add-ons. I believe it was used for videos. Since it was disabled, I have not been able to view YouTube and other video types. I get the message "The plugin for this content has been disabled. Click here to manage your plugins."
The plugin you need is Flash. Go to Tools > Add-ons and select the plugins tab (the lego-block) and enable things.
