FF wants to install fonts on every boot.

The first things I boot up in the morning are Firefox and Thunderbird. For the past couple of weeks, I have been getting this messages from each of them, asking to install fonts, but they both always name my '''backup''' drive as the intended install location.
In both applications, the first message is immediate, and the second message appears a minute or so later. Also in both applications, clicking on "do not show this message again," does absolutely no good whatever. Next time I boot, there they are.
The fonts they want to install on my backup drive are as follows:
Firefox:
Bondi SvtyTwo OS ITC TT Bookit &
Humana Serif Md ITC TT Medita
Thunderbird:
Humana Serif ITC TT Light &
Bondi SvtyTwo OS ITC TT Bookit
Any ideas on how to fix this? Please?

    John_Velayuth,
Welcome to the forum!  A couple of suggestions....
    1) As Lenovo tech support will provide support for the preload, if problems develop you may need to recover to the original state.  The One Key Recovery function can help, but if you change partitions or wipe out the hidden system partition, this feature may no longer work, so be careful.
    2) Yigit's suggestions to first make backups is a good one
    3) In order to start off the optical drive, you may need to press F12 during startup to pull up a boot device menu.  You could then choose the CD/DVD drive instead of the HDD to boot your XP.
    4) I can't walk you through the steps on creating a multiboot environment, but others have already done this in the forum - try a search in the KB or the Windows 7, and XP boards in the general discussion category.  Search for discussions on those boards.  (Tip : search defaults to the board you are on, so navigate to those boards and do the search there).
If you don't find what you are looking for there, you may also want to do an internet search - many detailed articles have been written on how to set this up.
Other community members may be along with more suggestions...
    Best regards,
    Mark

  • Reader wants to install font pack, but it's allready installed

As in summary. I'm not able to open the file.

Thank you.  Interestingly I can see the document at the files.acrobat.com preview.  But when I download the document and try to open with Adobe Reader, I get the same as you
I try to open it with Acrobat, and it tells me that it requires the Chinese Traditional font, which it installs automatically.  I can then see the document.
Under Properties I can see that it uses the MingLiU and PMingLiU fonts.
However, I do not understand why Adobe Reader refuses to open it when the Reader 11 font pack is installed.

  • Can I install Windows 7 with boot camp on my computer, but install all my PC games for it on an external hardrive?

I have a new Mac, but I want to install Windows 7 with boot camp on it. However, I would only really be using it for gaming.
On another post, someone said that you could not install boot camp entirely onto an external hardrive. As boot camp would only be for gaming, then could I install all my games (when I'm given the option to chose the file of where to install) onto an external drive which is correctly formatted? (what is the format too?) Also, would USB 3.0 be ok, or would thunderbolt be a better option (hoping its USB)
    Thank you

you will be fine and either are more than enough for even an SSD.
    NTFS of course.
Might look thru Google to see if anyone has managed to boot Windows from Thunderbolt, I think someone managed after install and then made a restore image and placed on Tb storage device.

  • Font Book problems installing fonts - serious issues

I'm having problems installing fonts that I've been using for years. The Mac Mini Font Book says that there is serious problems with a lot of my fonts.
I don't want to install fonts if it is going to cause problems with the computer but don't understand why they won't work on mini but were fine on the emac.

Try typing "fonts" into Google.  Have you really not done that?

How to move steam to another drive:
Delete everything in the Steam folder except for the "steam.exe" and the "steamapps" folder
Move the steam folder over to the secondary drive you want it on
Open the "steam.exe" and it will reconfigure steam
Log in and BAM! All your games are recognized
Now, you can put what ever games you want on the SSD with Steam Mover (or junctions)
Create another folder on the C:\ drive and name it (C:\Users\Sean\Steam Games)
Run Steam Mover and have it move the game to that location and you are done!
Now go play the games you want!
How to have steam on the SSD while having the games on either the SSD or HDD:
Delete everything in the Steam folder except for the "steam.exe" and the "steamapps" folder
Have the "steam.exe" to a folder made on the C:\ drive (C:\Users\Sean\Steam)
Have the "steamapps" folder on the HDD you want to store your games (D:\User\Program Files\Steam\steamapps)
Make a junction from the "steamapps" folder to the SSD folder with the "steam.exe" in it
Open the "steam.exe" and it will reconfigure steam
Logged in and BAM! All your games are recognized and steam is on the SSD and the games on the other drive.
Now, you can put what ever games you want on the SSD with Steam Mover (or junctions)

  • Can I purchase Mountain Lion and make a flash drive bootable? I do not want to install it on my Macbook Pro. I have Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro now, and due to my hard drive needing repair I need to boot off of another source, like my flash drive.

Can I purchase Mountain Lion and make a flash drive bootable? I do not want to install it on my Macbook Pro. I have Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro now, and due to my hard drive needing repair, I need to boot off of another source, like my flash drive. I am in Paris and my Snow Leopard DVD is in Texas.

Mac OS X has a built-in disk diagnostic and repair program called fsck or file system consistency check. Here’s how to verify and repair your startup disk with fsck.  As soon as you hear the startup tone, press and hold Command-S on the keyboard. Keep holding down those keys until you see a black screen with white lettering. This is called “booting into Single User Mode.”  As the Mac boots in this mode, the screen reports each step of the process. The line should end in root#.  Right after the root# prompt, enter the following: /sbin/fsck -fy
If repairing the disk in single user mode fails, it means one of two things. Either your hard drive itself is failing (a hardware failure), or the directory damage on your hard drive is beyond the capability of the built-in repair procedures in OS X.

  • TS2446 i have a problem in my account every time i want to install application from app Store on my iphone a message shows that my Apple ID has been disabled, what is the problem? what can i do ?

i have a problem in my account every time i want to install application from app Store on my iphone a message shows that my Apple ID has been disabled, i creat a new password and still that message shoes ,what is the problem ?can you help me please???!!!!

If your account is disabled then you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
You might then need to log out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it
If that doesn't fix it then you might need to contact iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • I want to install Yosemite onto an external hard drive, and keep Snow Leopard installed on the internal hard drive. I want to be able to boot from either system, depending upon circumstance (at least until Yosemite is stable). Is this possible?

iMac, Model Identifier iMac12,1 with 121.5" screen, 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory, 1 TB internal hard drive, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 from internal drive.
I want to install Yosemite onto a 1 TB external hard drive (OWC) , and keep Snow Leopard installed on the internal hard drive. I want to be able to boot from either system, depending upon circumstance (at least until Yosemite is stable). Is this possible?

It is possible. I'll let you read some articles that cover the setup:

  • I have a Mac Pro with four hard drives. I currently have Lion installed on one hard drive. I want to have the option to boot from either Lion or Snow Leopard. How can I do this?

I have a Mac Pro with four hard drives. I currently have Lion installed on one hard drive. I want to have the option to boot from either Lion or Snow Leopard. How can I do this?

It's best to install Snow Leopard on one of the three remain drives without an Operating System.
You can then install the applications you need from the original media. Create a User Account using Setup Assistant.
Do you want to migrate User Accounts from the OSX LIon boot drive, or are you keeping the User Accounts separate?
Dual-booting just requires holding the option key during startup and selecting either Lion or Snow Leopard.

  • I have a Mac Book Pro A1226 and I want to install Windows 7 Ultimate. I have boot camp 3.0, I have a Mac Book Pro A1226 and I want to install Windows 7 Ultimate. I have boot camp 3.0

Please help.  I have a Mac Book Pro ( late 2007- A1226)  that I want to install Windows 7 ultimate on.  I have boot camp 3.0 and I can set up the partition but when i click start installation, I get a black screen ( for a few seconds) then it goes to a grey window, which alternates between flashing the apple symbol and a circle with line through it.  It will do this for however long I let it go for.
Would it be better for me to buy parallels software than keep persisting with this avenue.

First, make sure you ONLY have the wired Apple Keyboard and wired mouse connected.
You should have BootCamp Asst. 3.3 or 3.4 now I believe is the latest version.
Do you have the W7 disk or ISO download version?
When does the flashing start, after Windows 7 sets the NTFS formating and you click to install?

  • If I want to install Lions on a 2nd hard drive in my MacPro Desktop, will it allow me to do so if I have Leopard installed on the boot drive?

I have a blank 2nd hard drive that I am going to install in my MacPro desktop. The boot drive already contains the Leopard operating system. I want to install Lions on the blank hard drive. Will setup in Lions when it comes out, allow me to install Lions onto the 2nd hard drive since it should detect that I have a valid Apple operating system on the boot drive?

You can first install Snow Leopard then re-download Lion. Or you saved the original installer application then created a bootable Lion installer on a USB flash drive or DVD. Or you buy Apple's $69.00 USB flash installer.
You haven't told us what hindrances you've encountered, so you should post your own separate topic related to your problem and not threadjack another person's topic.

turn the mac all the way off. turn the mac on by pressing the power button. as soon as the apple logo appears, pres and hold your mouse button(trackpad mouse clicker etc...) until the CD comes out.
