FF13 Reader Plugin Puts ashx File on Desktop
10.1.3.23 Acrobat Firefox 13 Plugin: At a Regions Bank site I want to Clk the PDF Icon and have the Statement Open As it has Done recently. Today it Dnloads an .ashx File on the desktop and I have to Clk That to see the Checking Statement. Not ideal, so HOW can I get the Plugin to just Open the Link in one Dbl-Clk as prior? Loads ashx at Merrill Lynch too vs. simply Opening PDF.
IE9 Opens PDF File as desired with one Dbl-Clk on icon.
Ran Repair / Re-boot = no joy. No other PDF Apps installed/FoxitReader prior but Uninstalled and Reg entries removed, etc.
Posted BugBase Issue for Flash 11.3.300.262 ActionScript pop-up with FF 13 so this is disappointing to have a 2nd Adobe issue.

If I Logged Out of Regions and Copied/pasted the Statement PDF Link Location
in FF 13 Browser it actually Printed my Statement - so I rearranged digits

Don't know if you can use just "Most" of the path to diagnose this issue but I
obviously can't make my Statement world news.

Both code snippets above work when the HTML file is hosted (IIS / Apache). My web-app needs to be able to run from a USB memory stick and work with IE9. The #page param is required for a core feature of the app.

I have burned over 8 hours looking for a solution. I have tried any logical settings in Adobe Reader X, and with the security zones in IE. I am not very familiar with IE security zones, but I suspect it could be related to my issue. I can specify the end-user change any browser or plugin settings as an acceptable solution.I am developing a hybrid web-application that needs to work both offline (entire website) and in a hosted environment. A key part of the product is displaying PDF's with a dynamic index outside of the PDF. This allows us to use PDF's collected from hundreds of contractors, clients and manufacturers and combine them into one searchable product with a consistent interface. I can specify product requirements including IE browser settings, installed plug-ins etc. I am not trying to cater to a wide audience such as everyone online, but a specific one that is spending $5k-30k for a custom resource.
I expect the limiation is due to a wide cast net regarding security. I tried every setting in IE and essentially fully disabling all security options did not resolve it.

This actually works much faster as well, since the plugin doesn't need to be re-drawn in the DOM -
Firefox will not use Foxit Reader plugin.
Why doesn't the configuration to use the Foxit Reader plugin for PDF files work? The Adobe Reader plugin (in Firefox) is used instead.
In Firefox 3.6.8 "Options" window, "Applications" tab, for "Content Type" -- "PDF file," the selected "Action" is "Use Foxit Reader Plugin for Mozilla (in Firefox)."
For "Content Type" -- "PDF file, in the "Action" dropdown list, no option is listed for "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)."
The "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins" folder contains both (1) the Foxit Reader plugin (npFoxitReaderPlugin.dll ver.1.0.1.1117), and (2) the Adobe Reader plugin (nppdf32.dll ver.9.3.3.177).
When Firefox connects to a website using a URL for a PDF file, the PDF document always appears in Firefox using Adobe Reader.
Given the configuration, why doesn't Firefox open the file using Foxit Reader? How can this be fixed?
Operating system is Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

Finder keep crashing everytime i put file in Desktop
1. if i copy 1 file to Desktop this is always happened , blinking repeatedly , Until i delete from terminal (rm ~/Desktop/<files here> , the blinking stop and i click "Don't restore windows"
2.so all the desktop should be cleaned other wise what happened in number one is happened
3. if i login with different user the problem not occurred . but i badly need this current user that i has due to a lot of setup.
already tried delete the .DS_Store in my home directory but did not help. I plan to delete the com.apple.sidebarlists.plist but dont have any guts to do it
better escalate it to this thread.

I exported my iBook and got the .ibooks file on my Desktop(iMac Retina 5K), I tried to put the file into the iBooks application but I get a message that says "The file "______.ibooks" couldn't opened because it isn't in the correct format. I took the same file and transferred it in my MacBook Air and was able to put it in the iBooks application no problem, the MacBook Air runs OS X v 10.9.5
Please advise as to Why it would work on an older OS X version as oppose to the newer OS X Yosemite

I may be doing something wrong because looking at the "Purchased" in iBooks I only see all the books that I actually purchased, none of the iBooks that I created in iBooks Author shows up. I can re-download all the iBooks I've purchased and some in iCouds, but the ones I've created in iBooks Author are no where to be found.

I'm trying to share a folder between users on a single mac. I want both users to be able to read and write so the folder stays current on both accounts. I put the folder in "shared," set permissions on folder so other user can read and write, enabled file sharing, but can't find the folder on the second user's account. Any help?
Did you log out of one account and into the other or just used Fast user switching?
Is the permissions set to anyone?
When you move data to teh Shared folder is it copied or just moved?
If copied then it's not a folder both can access, just a way station like a USB thumb drive that things are coped too and off of likely.
You can run this #5 on each user account to reset the user permissions once they are taken back out of the Shared folder

Where to put inf File so Servlets can read it?

I have a .inf file that contains the location of a database and of my smtp server. I have some servlets that make calls to java classes that read this file in order to access a DB and send emails etc. Where should i put this file so that when i come to run my project on apache the servlets and java classes can see and use the inf file? Do i need to put it in the WEB-INF directory etc? Do i need to add anything to the Web.xml file etc?

DavidThanks, ive set it up so it now uses a properties file which is placed in the same package as the class file on apache. But in order to read the file i need to put an absolute path in e.g.
Properties props = new Properties();
props.load(new FileInputStream("C:/apache-tomcat-6.0.10/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/coreservlets/message.properties"));
however i want to use a relative path, somethin like:
props.load(new FileInputStream("/message.properties"));
but this does not seem to work, do i need to define a realtive path using different syntax or do i need to place the properties file in a different place or change some configuration settings in apache?

I have a dilema i use a programme called Mackeeper i accidentally moved several checked files to my trash BUT i didnt delete them,i would like to put the files back where they belong but the put back option is in grey and wont work?? i have spoken to Apple and to no avail !!!
Mackeeper moved my files to my trash so i pulled them out of my trash to my desktop it has copied them to my desktop as well as kept them in my trash!!
im so confused and things are not working properly anymore such as my google chrome for example...all my book marks are gone BUT i can go to the google file which is out of place on my desktop and view all my bookmarks data...ALL of my files still exist but they are just out of place now which is making it hard for certain options on my computer to work...

Remove "MacKeeper" as follows.
"MacKeeper" has only one useful feature: it deletes itself.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your login password. Click the Uninstall MacKeeper button in the dialog that appears. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. Reboot.
Failure to remove MacKeeper will result from neglecting any one of these points:
Quit MacKeeper before dragging it to the Trash.
Don't empty the Trash after dragging the application to it. Let MacKeeper delete itself.
Don't try to drag the MacKeeper icon in the Dock to the Trash.
Here are some general suggestions. If you want your computer to be usable, don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” "boosters," “extenders,” “cleaners,” "doctors," "tune-ups," “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this stuff is useless, or worse than useless.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
The only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it.

Restore from the last backup that predates the unwanted changes. -
I work for Office Depot, in the tech department. Basically, one of our associates was supposed to do a data backup, and re-install Windows 7, then transfer the files back. He used Windows Easy Transfer and compacted everything into a 163 GB file.
Now comes the hard part. When we try to put it back on his computer ((drag-and-drop to the desktop) which has been wiped back to factory settings using the recovery partition), it stops at 79.5 GB remaining (you know how it doesn't give you a % of completion,
it just shows how many GB are remaining) and then says "Can't read from the source file or disk" and gives you an option to try again, or cancel. It gets hung up on the same point each time.
Normally, this wouldn't be a huge issue, but the contents on the drive are his wife's architect blueprints and interior design stuff, along with wedding photos, etc, which are the only copies they have. On top of those, they have court documents and other
important files that we are unable to access now.
I wasn't involved with this transfer, so I'm trying to clean up the mess as best I can. I remembered that the customer's wife was Russian, and had some files typed with a Russian keyboard, so on and so forth. I wonder if that's the issue? If not, I really
have no idea how to manually extract things from a ".mig" file, or how to diagnose what area is potentially corrupted.
In light of this situation, we tried using "Recuva" to recover the files post-wipe, but everything was corrupted or unable to be opened, and it also extracted and recovered all of the "useless" photos, such as the skype logos, up and
down arrows for browsers, etc (it was 160,000+ photos).
Trying to avoid a potential lawsuit, unhappy customer, and costing the company lots of money to see if professionals can get into this external hard drive.
Other relevant information:
We used a Toshiba 500 GB (465 GB) external hard drive.
Customer's computer is an HP Pavilion P6000 Series (Model No. p6520y) running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1.
Any other information that is needed can be provided, thanks in advance, and hopefully we can find a solution to this issue quickly!

Unplug from new, head back to new, plug it back in? That doesn't make much sense! Haha.
I knew what you meant though, somewhat. When I search through the drives after clicking yes (Has windows easy transfer
already saved your files blah blah blah) I click on the transfer file and it says "Windows Easy Transfer could not open the file".
Rather than drag-and-drop the file to the desktop, I now tried to double-click on the file itself while it was plugged
into the computer. It opened, and it started transferring until it was about 70% completed, and then an error popped up saying "WET can't open the easy transfer file, make sure your USB device is plugged in or check your internet connection".
I checked, and the USB hard drive's light wasn't on. Now, I unplug it and plug it back in, and the light comes back on,
so I click Retry, and it resets the bar back to nothing and says "Transfer time: 1 minute".

How to automate the Acrobat Reader plugin in Internet Explorer

I have been trying to figure out how to automate the Acrobat Reader plugin in Internet Explorer. My goal is to find a way to allow users of our web application to print PDFs to the default printer without having to go through the plugin's GUI. Our application includes a browser helper component, and I had hoped it would be possible to use the IWebBrowser2 interface's get_Document() method to get at some sort of interface to the plugin (as is possible for, say, a Word document hosted in Internet Explorer) and then use this to print the document. However, this does not work: get_Document(), when called on an IWebBrowser2 instance with a PDF loaded, returns E_NOINTERFACE. I also tried calling the IWebBrowser2 interface's ExecWB() method with OLECMDID_PRINT, OLECMDEXECOPT_DONTPROMPTUSER, and PRINT_DONTBOTHERUSER, and printed a blank page rather than the PDF.
Is it possible to do what I am attempting? Like I said, my core goal is to print a PDF from within Internet Explorer without requiring user interaction. I'd appreciate any suggestions as to how I might accomplish this -- it doesn't _have_ to be by automating the plugin (maybe that is a the wrong approach... though it sure would be nice if the plugin provided access to its object model via IWebBrowser2->get_Document()).

So, if I used php or some other scripting language on the server to fill in the name of the pdf, I can load it via a URL, wait a couple of seconds for it to load, and then print it without user interaction. I wish that the LoadFile method would load a URL so that when it returns, I know it is loaded and I don't have to put faith in a timer that may not be enough for a large file.
This is the situation I'm in. This way works but I don't like the timer. I'd rather have the plugin let me know when it's loaded. Is there another method that can help me do what I want?

A plugin called LR/Transporter could probably automate that. However, I don't think many people will want to do this once all usages of the image are considered!
So an export plugin called LR/Mogrify (which calls in the utility ImageMagick as an output processor) would be the next suggestion. This should let you put more or less whatever image parameter you want, onto the image as an automated label - also add borders outside or inside the image boundary, place the thumbnail inside a larger square canvas, a few other options. Then that can all be saved as a LR export preset for greater convenience and repeatability in the future. -
Drag and drop file from desktop screen to SD card in slot on macbook pro
Hi i am trying to put a file from my Macbook Pros desktop and drag over to my SD card which is inserted in the side of the mac, this is a firmware update for my digital camera which needs to go onto the SD card and inserted into the camera. I can start to drag the file but as soon as it nears the open folder of my sd card the cursor changes to like a greyed out no entry sign and will not drop, the card is fat-32 if that helps. Sandisk Extreme pro 32gb class 10.
The card reader is apparently stuck in write-locked mode. I don't generally advise do-it-yourself hardware repair, but one ASC poster managed to fix this problem. I haven't tried the fix myself and I can't offer any guidance beyond what's in that discussion. If you cause damage, don't expect your warranty to cover it. I suggest you instead make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

I've been unsuccessfully trying to view these two most popular text files on my iPod touch. I thought that considering the size of the screen as well as ebook capability, formats like pdf and txt would surely be supported. Is it just me? Maybe I can't find the right option in the itunes or ipod itself, but itunes says ipod can't read this kind of file, while ipod's safari says it can't read the file when I try to download a .txt via Wi-Fi. What am I doing wrong? Do I need some additional software for this?

I didn't read your question fully.
Your question should be: How do I get pdf and text files onto my iPod touch to read. I've tried iTunes and it does not work.
The answer I gave is correct and will solve your problem.
- email it to yourself and read i Mail (not the best solution).
- Download the free version of EverNote from the App store and download the version for your computer, Drag the txt or pdf into a new note in EverNote on your desktop and sync to the cloud (as they say) and open the EverNote app on your iPod and sync
- Do the same with SugarSync or DropBox (you need desktop and iPod versions of both, both free)
- text files can be put in memos in Outlook and synced with Notes on your iPod
There are other apps -- Phoneview, for example -- that will also help.

Does the Adobe Reader plugin work with Android browsers?
I have a Galaxy Tab and I'm trying to access an eBook in Chrome, but it opens each page as a separate file using one of my reader apps. It works on my desktop in Chrome, and I checked the plugins and it's using Adobe Reader. Does the mobile version of Chrome not support the Adobe Reader plugin? Does any mobile browser support the Adobe Reader plugin?

When you open a PDF in chrome, you get option to open the file in other applications. If Adobe Reader is installed on your phone, you would also see an option to open the file in Adobe Reader. Can you please try that.
