FF4 DOWNLOAD WILL NOT LOAD HAS A CORRUPT FILE

I HAVE DOWNLOADED FF4 12 TIMES AND EVERY DOWNLOADED INSTALL FILE DISPLAYS THE MESSAGE "FILE IS CORRUPTED". I AM USING WINDOWS XP WITH AVG ANTI-VIRUS. I WOULD LIKE TO UPGRADE TO FF4 IF IT IS AT ALL POSSIBLE. I HAVE USED FF BROWSERS SINCE THEY WERE OFFERED AS A BROWSER WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. FF IS INDEED SUPERIOR TO THE INTERNET EXPLORER OFFERED BY MICROSOFT.

You may want to try the following.
Remove all traces of Reader (not only the program) from your system using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. This is no longer supported by Microsoft because it can produce problems with Win 7, but you can still download it from from places like

Then, download the Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
and perform a clean install.

Thanks for the suggestion - but I eventually tried again and was able to contact via "chat" to someone qualified to help. The problem was that in my existing "bridge" - preference was (I think by default) - checked to startup in background on Login. I did not realize this - because I don't think I set it that way in the first place (maybe I did a few years ago) - and I could not see anything in task manager to suggest that bridge was running an application or any process - but when I learned this - I was successful in installing PS CS6.
Yes, I'm still not on solid ground re: whether or not I want to change from "owning" the tool or renting it -- what concerns me is that is sounds like regardless of users wishes, Adobe is headed in this direction and will eventually make it financially more feasible to go that route. At the moment I think they are "asking" for everyone to get on their bandwagon, but who knows. They have a powerful set of tools, that they continue to support and advance - and along with those development and support costs, they also would like to make a profit - so I understand if their past marketing model is no longer sufficient.

"Bookmarks and history system will not be functional" with corrupt files found by Avast and websites loading slow ONLY in Firefox

Firefox is the only browser that lets me connect with my microphone. I need to use this feature for an online class. Earlier this evening, the message prompting me to allow or deny the class website permission to use the microphone stopped appearing, and without it the recording won't pick up any sound and I can't record anything.
I tried exiting and restarting Firefox. I had some extensions in use at the time, in particular Session Manager. The allow/deny message still wouldn't appear, so I restarted my computer.
Now when I open Firefox I see the "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" error message. In addition, the browser loads websites extremely slowly; it takes several minutes to load each page or for me to be able to click on anything (the URL bar, the menus, etc) My other browsers (Internet Explorer and Chrome) are running normally and load websites at a normal speed. I tried downloading the latest version of Firefox but it didn't fix anything. I also tried restarting the computer again but that didn't help either.
I ran my Avast software system check and it turned up that the following files under "C:\Users\(me)\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Irozixj7.default" are "corrupted and unreadable":
-cookies.sqlite-shm
-cookies.sqlite-wal
-localstore.rdf
-places.sqlite-shm
There was one more problem on the scan, but it probably isn't relevant: for the file "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Definition Updates\{9A2C6FA7-E04E-4819-B86A-8363A9D1E42A}\mpengine.dll" it says "The system cannot find the path specified." When I attempted to follow the path indicated, one of the folders (I can't remember which) said something along the lines of "You can't access this folder, do you want to permanently allow access to this folder?" I said yes and was able to access the folder.
I have tried to add the Places Maintenance extension but the speed is too sluggish to download anything. Trying to access any of the menus results in the browser freezing for several minutes then unfreezing but with the menu still unopened. Therefore none of the solutions found here (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-bookmarks-and-history-will-not-be-functional?esab=a&as=aaq) seem to work.
My questions are as follows:
-Is it possible to figure out what caused the problem in the first place?
-Is there a way for me to fix it without losing my bookmarks and history?
-How can I avoid this happening again in the future?

First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder. To quickly access this folder:
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Next, keep this folder open, exit Firefox, and try moving the "corrupted and unreadable" files to a different folder. With the exception of localstore.rdf, which stores window positions, toolbar customizations, and other nonessential data, the other files appear to be session-specific files that hopefully are not critical. If you restart Firefox, does it behave more normally?
If not, try creating a fresh Firefox profile. It will have the Flash plugin, which is the control sites usually use to connects your camera and/or microphone, and other plugins, but otherwise will be a new setup. This article has the steps for starting up in the Profile Manager: [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]].
If sites work normally in the new profile, you can import your bookmarks from your old profile, as well as copying over other files that don't seem to be causing the problem. Some trial and error might be required to determine that. This article has some tips: [[Recovering important data from an old profile]].
If the new profile is no better, you can exit Firefox and use the Profile Manager to switch back to your original profile.

I'd try a repair install of iTunes first.
Restart the PC. Now head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select iTunes, click "Change" and then click "Repair".
Does your iTunes start launching again?

Will Download, will not load completely

Using either IE or FF to download gets to a certain point (90 something percent of installation) and then asks for a cd to be inserted in the drive for 10.1 to complete the install. Of course, I do not have or ever had a CD for reader so I have to cancel . Win7 Home Prem. 8g mem,the Poderosa of disk space, quad core. I have tried all the "sure fire ways" Adobe says to try to get it to load but no success. Help! It won't dowload ver 9 because it says I have a more up to date version, oh yeah where would that be because I am unable to read any PDF's.

Apps available for download will not load in CC desktop application?

I have CC at work on my Mac pro and it works fine, however I just installed it on my MacBook Pro and when I try to go to the Apps panel to download the applications, nothing ever loads and I just have a rotating loading icon. Anyone have a solution?

Have no setup cd for wvc210. Download will not load on win 7

I have a new PC and cannot find my setup CD for my wvc210 camera. This PC is running Win 7 Home Premium 64. When I try to download the AVM_APP_2.0.2.1 file I get "The program can't start because QtCore4.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
What does that mean?

If you look in the AVMS_APP_2.0.2.1 folder you should see the file QtCore4.dll. You can get this error if you try to install the AVMS software while it is still in the zipped folder. If you have not please unzip the folder and try the install again.

ITunes will not load after upgrade - says files missing

i got a prompt that my iTouch had new software for download. I went to download it and was prompted to download the latest version of iTunes first. I did this and now I can not access my iTunes. I get a prompt that iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing.
I am not sure what itunes version I had prevously but it was the latest version until I tried to upgrade. my itouch is version 4.1 (8b117). the itouch unit is a 2nd generaton. i am using windows 7 with IE 8.
Please help. what should i do now? I cant get into my iTunes to sync my iTouch

I found out the issue with itunes. I had been using a converter program to convert movies for the itouch and the one I used also required a quicktime codec that must have interfered with itunes...I uninstalled the program...and itunes is back and running great. sorry to have rushed to judgement. Downloaded apps will not load, tried easy fixes.

The apps I downloaded will not load anymore. The video also didn't want to load yesterday, but today the video will load fine, but the apps still wont.
I have reset by holding down home and power. I have downloaded another app to see if that would work. But still not loading. It is brand new got it 2 days ago, but bought it factory sealed off of ebay, so don't think I got any warranty working for me. So this is my last hope. Any suggestions??

Elements will not load

Having huge problems with Elements 11 not loading at start up and takes 20 min. or more and the downloader will not load at all.
Note that the editor will pop up when I use the File Explorer when I click on a photo selection.
Adobe will not offer help on this issue per my discussion with their tech support.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Firefox > Preferences > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
This can take a minute or two if you have a large cache.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Icons will not load on boot

I'm posting this from a mac in my video production class, the eMac that I am trying to use will not load its icons nor files, the only thing it will do is run its progs, but you cant open any files in them. When I move the curser to the desktop, it shows the little swirly thing. I have restarted, re-logged in, and consulted the teacher. What is the problem?

Are you logged on to a normal non-administrative account or to a restricted user account? Whomever setup and maintains the computers in your class lab should know the answer. Debugging and troubleshooting will generally require administrative user ststus on the computer, so possible answers depend to some extent on your class account type.
If there are other users with accounts on this Mac, do they have the same problem?

PROBLEM SOLVED! For me at least!
Apple Support gave me the clue - I had run Migration Assistant, and it had obligingly replaced a system file (/Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager) with the equivalent from my old system.
I reinstalled 10.6.7 using the DVD supplied and all is well.
The moral is - don't use Migration Assistant.
Along the way Apple Support provided me with a link to download Combo update 10.6.7: this could not be installed on my iMac.
