FF4 won't download torrent file correctly.

FF4 downloads the torrent file as a 0 bytes file, making it unable to be opened with my client program. It happens just with torrent files and in ff4 and the source isn't broken. It loads it correct after 10-20 attempts of downloading.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

  • Macbook Pro won't download .zip files correctly

I have a Macbook Pro (13'' June 2012 model, 500GB HDD, 4GB RAM, 2.5GHz i5 processor, OS X 10.9.5) and whenever I try and download .zip files, on either Chrome or Safari, it doesn't know what size the file actually is meant to be (as seen below) and so keeps downloading constantly. Each time I cancel it (in some cases after it's reached over 100MB even though the file is a 9 song album), I get no files back out. Is there anyway to fix this so I can actually download them?

Download Stuffit Expander from the App Store or directly from the manufacturer.  The software is free.  It can open any file you throw at it - after you set up its preferences to do so.

  • How I use aria2 to download torrent files

I was reading topics' titles, and then I saw this one:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=154476
At first, he wanted to use aria2, but then he switched to rtorrent. rtorrent is great, but It's not good for scripting, so I don't use it. aria2 is the best way to download torrent files, within command line. But how?
I use this script, because sometimes aria2 stops downloading, but doesn't exit! It's not a big deal when you're near the computer, but when you go somewhere else, you can't check if it's downloading. So I wrote this little script:
    #! /bin/bash
    if [ ! -x /usr/bin/aria2c ]; then
    echo "aria2c is not installed"
    exit 1
    fi
    if [ ! -d ~/.torrentdl ]; then
    mkdir ~/.torrentdl
    fi
    while :; do
    for i in $@; do
    MAGNET=false
    if [[ "$i" = magnet* ]]; then
    MAGNET=true
    elif [ ! -f "$i" ]; then
echo "The file ('$i') is not given or does not exist"
    exit 1
    fi
    if ! aria2c --hash-check-only=true "$i" &> /dev/null; then
    aria2c "$i"
    sleep 30m && kill -9 `pidof aria2c`
    else
    echo "Torrent is downloaded!"
    fi
    done
    done
Simply, it starts downloading and restarts it every 30 minutes.
There are some arguments that will help you with aria2:
    -S, --show-files[=true|false]:
Print file listing of ".torrent", ".meta4" and ".metalink" file and exit.  In case of ".torrent" file, additional information (infohash, piece length, etc) is also printed.
    --hash-check-only[=true|false]:
If true is given, after hash check using --check-integrity option, abort download whether or not download is complete.

Maybe this belongs in the wiki, specifically the "Useful Tips and Tricks" section.  It is not vital to usage of aria2, but I am sure there are others that might find this useful, and the wiki seems like a much more logical place to go searching for something like this.

  • Downloaded torrent files no longers auto-run after downloading

When downloading a torrent file, Firefox use to auto-run the file after completing download. Resulting in the file being added to my torrent program. Now it stopped doing that and I can find where the setting is to change this behavior. Yesterday i did not have this problem.

Yes, for a strange reason, the default behaviour for downloading Torrent files changed to "save to" instead of opening the file with uTorrent (or BitTorrent or anything else you're using).
To fix this, go to your Firefox "Tools" menu, then choose "Options / Applications", and under "TORRENT File", change the value to your favourite Torrent application.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I leave the display open for say all day while downloading torrent file

Sometimes it takes all day to download a torrent file can i leave the display on or should i turn it off and will my macbook keep downloading the file thank you

It's fine to leave it on but you can also just set the display to go to sleep and let your computer keep working. The settings are under *System Preferences* in *Energy Saver*. I usually have mine turn off after 15 minutes so it will rest while my download or other work continues.

  • Itunes won't download, binary file won't save to computer.

Every time I click on the "Download Now" button, I am able to select what folder I want to download the binary file to.
Once I click save, nothing else happens. I am taken to the "Thank you for downloading itunes" screen, but there is no record of my download anywhere, and the file is simply not saving.

So weird...I don't know why so many folks have this problem. Why won't the silly file download from Apple? When I click "save file" absolutely nothing happens. A dialogue box should pop up asking me where to save it.
My solution was to finally download it from one of the many file servers. I used one called "filehorse" and it downloaded right away.
How can one use their nifty iOS device if they can't install itunes on their computer?!
I tried the recommended "fixes", one of which included deleting the "temp" folder (which was not so easy to delete, required booting to safe mode command prompt) but made no difference. This was all using Firefox. IE is the only other browser on my computer, which seems to be permanently broken (most sites do not show properly even after using IE's "reset" feature).
I refuse to install Chrome, I tried it once and it sucked. Hopefully Apple will fix this silly issue so that next time I need to download iTunes, I can do it. Thank you!

  • CS5.5 won't download and install correctly.

I have a new computer and I'm trying to re-install my design suite 5.5.
I've downloaded the files several times, and whil the .exe file seems to download fine, the .7z file keeps coming out as different sizes. it should be 2.5 GB, but is much more frequently 2.1 GB. The programs keep coming up with an error that there are missing files.
I'm working on a Windows 7 computer, and downloading the files in chrome.
Also I guess the chat support can't help you if your product is older than 6 months? So that's cool.

    Hi,
Please make sure both the files (*.7z and *.exe) are downloaded in same folder or directory.
Double click the *.exe and it will auto extract *.7z archive file.
This will extract all necessary files to start the installation. Please respond back if that does not work.
    regards

  • Firefox 15 won't download zip files to desktop

    Hi All,
I cant download directly to the desktop, Firefox puts the downloads in a folder on the desktop. The path in Options is: C:\Users\DW\Desktop\Desktop. It puts a folder on the desktop called Desktop.
I would like to be this: C:\Users\DW\Desktop.
Older versions would allow downloading to desktop. I must be missing something? Can anyone help?

Thank you for your reply. I wasn't clear in my first post.
In the Options window - General panel under Downloads -> Save files to: by clicking the "Browse" button. Firefox will not allow me to choose the desktop.
When I choose the desktop Firefox chooses this path instead. The path is this: C:\Users\DW\Desktop\Desktop. And It puts a folder on the desktop called Desktop.
I would like to be able to choose this: C:\Users\DW\Desktop. But it wont let me. Older versions would allow downloading to desktop.

  • HELP! - GB2 won't read my file correctly after crash

Garageband crashed while I was recording 10 tracks of vocals. My work had been saved, but when I rebooted, it opens to a blank piano track. I opened the GB package file to see its contents: there is a media folder containing all 135 pieces of the recording (around 250 MB), and a project data file (168kb). I imagine that somehow the project data file was corrupted and is not able to communicate correctly with GB2. Is there anything that can be done? I lost 4 hours of work right as I was finishing.
    Thanks
    Jon

Try repairing permissions, and run utilities. If that doesn't help. at least you have the .aiff files in the package contents. You can start a new song, and drag them in one by one and reassemble the song if necessary. Not a great amount of fun, but you can probably save you recording at least.

  • How can I install firefox on my I-pad? safari won't download the file. Safari sucks.

Safari will not load files. How do I get fiefox and google on My I-pad?

There is no version of Firefox (whether mobile or desktop) for the iPad or iPod touch or iPhone.
    https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms#Other_Platforms
    iPhone/iPad/iPod
We have no plans to release the full Firefox browser for iOS. The iOS SDK agreement requires apps to use Apple's own JavaScript engine (or none at all, like Opera Mini which downloads pre-rendered pages from Opera's servers and cannot run JavaScript code in the client). Because of this, we have no supported way to distribute Firefox's rendering and JavaScript engine to iPhone users.
However, you can download Firefox Home for iPhone, an iOS app that uses Firefox Sync to deliver Firefox bookmarks, browsing history, and tabs to your iPhone or iPod Touch.

  • Firefox won't download PDF files with javascript:doDownload();

I just installed Firefox version 9.0.1 hoping it would solve this problem, but no such luck. My bank allows me to download and print my bank statements as PDF files from their website. I checked the code and the button I click on implements a javascript:doDownload(); function. A small panel opens that allows me to enter the page range. I then click OK and nothing happens. An earlier version of Firefox (3.0) had no problem with this and I was able to download and save my bank statements to my hardrive as PDF files.

I found that the problem was with the addon PDF Download 3.0.0.2
I disabled it and was able to download and print my bank statements. I'm just not sure if I need to change the settings or completely un-install it.

  • FF4 won't download on my MAC OS 10.4.11 laptop

When I go through the download procedure, the FF icon appears with a circle and line through it. Obviously, double clicking on that icon does not open the browser.

  • Yahoo mail won't download .bmp files when you right click, it saves as html.

I use yahoo mail and a lot of my groups send pictures imbedded. I can right click and save image with .jpg files, but .bmp files save web pages instead of bitmap. I can use Internet Explorer and save image (as .bmp files) when I right click.
I'm using Windows XP if that makes a difference.

go mail.yahoo.com as the login entrance for yahoo mail.

  • G Drive; Time machine won't download old files

    Hello
I had my Macbook Pro in to get fixed around September last year. I had backed up all my files successfully on my G Drive Slim. When I received my Mac Book back it was all updated and when I went into Time Machine with my G Drive and tried to access all of my old files the times were in pink and dull. I was not able to click on anything or use migration to get them back. I would just like to get my music and pictures back. If anyone has any suggestions or could help me out that would be great!

While in Time Machine, press the key combination shift-command-C. The front window will show all mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and navigate to the files you want to restore.

  • Firefox won't download files-Opens new page and just stops whenclicking on download icon or address.

Suddenly, Firefox won't download a file from a clickable icon or web address. This seemed to occur after installing HideMyAss. When I click on a download address, or an icon, the page changes, (as opposed to just starting the download) attempts to load (status bar goes to halfway) and then nothing, it just sits there. If I try to download a torrent file, the same thing occurs, although I can download it using option+click. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Doug

Reinstalled FF with new profile to check and it still performed the same problem. Couldn't download files from links sent to me through email program that I use either.
Eventually, after a quick 5 hour reinstall, FF is now working.
Until I figure otherwise, I'd take a pass on Hide My Ass.
    SweetDoug
