FGA performance from 9i to 10g

Hi,
is there any difference in terms of performance using FGA in 9i and 10g?
Kind Regards.

    well, oracle's path seems to see 10g's version of the listener:
    hosts% which lsnrctl
    /data/oracle/app/oracle/product/10g/bin/lsnrctl
    I'm running this on the same host. ie loopback.
    After the error, the listener seems to be in the process table - but nothing can talk to it:

    oracle 838 1 0 19:57:26 ? 0:00 /data/oracle/app/oracle/product/10g/bin/tnslsnr LISTENER -inherit

  • Frequent Rebuild Requires After Upgrade from 9i to 10g

    Hi Friends,
    Recently we have upgraded our production database from 9i to 10g and after that the performance of certain queries degraded drastically. when we did a workaround of rebuilding the table and associated indexes for these queries, it performs as fast as 9i.
    Can anybody clarify why the same query which was working very fine without rebuild in 9i requires a rebuild in 10g?
    Please note that the tables involved in this query are very huge and a frequent rebuild is not a permanent solution for us :-)

  • Slow response from Oracle AS 10g on web

    Hi all,
    We have recently migrated from 6i to 10g successfully.
    Now when I run my application locally it gives me very good response . But when I run the same application from a remote place on web it gives me pathetic response .
    Can anyone suggest me what are the parameters to tune so that it gives me a better performance.

    I suppose you are using Forms type on Application server. Consult the following article on Metalink.

  • Oracle report from 6i to 10g

    hi all,
    We try to move oracle report from 6i to 10g. however we found that the report's record ordering is different.
    The case is that, the record in report is ordered according to the attribute "break order".
    There is no "order by" in sql".
    It runs without problems in 6i, but in 10g , the ordering of the record has no ordering.
    Please help to solve the problems or give some advice. Thanks.

    Break order property only works for ordering in break groups. For other groups (like the lowest level group) you have to use order by in your SQL.
    That was also the case in 6i, so you may just have been lucky that it worked at all.
    This is from the Help:
    The Break Order property is the order in which to display the column's values. This property applies only to columns that identify distinct values of user-created groups (i.e., break groups ). The order of column values in a default group is determined by the ORDER BY clause of the query for SQL queries

  • Reports upgradation from 6i to 10g

    Hi!
    We are upgrading all our reports and forms from 6i to 10g.
    I am facing the following problem.
    In our 6i report, we were scheduling a report from the report server (frequency every hour).
    Here the output pdf file we are storing in a folder on the server.
    We are assigning the full pathname and file name to the Desname in the After Parameter form Report trigger.
    Desname := directory path||filename.pdf
    This command works in 6i. The output pdf file is generated in the respective folder. But however this command is not working in the 10g server.
    If we dont assign the path and file name to the Desname parameter then the o/p file is generated. It is going to the default location.
    Can anybody help me in solving this problem? Is there any other method to achieve the same result?

    Is there anybody who can help me on this? I need help urgently in this matter.

  • Report upgraded from 6i to 10g not displaying data.

    Hi,
    I upgraded one report from 6i to 10g,
    When I'm running the report for the same set of data.
    After changing the layout for few fields in the subframe.
    first time it has shown the data in the report output but now same report with same data is not displying the output.
    I'm sure this is due to some layout problem.(may be due to upgradation from 6i to 10g)
    Please guide me to resolve this problem.

    Hello,
    How do you execute your Reports ?
    Do you execute it from the Builder ?
    If you execute it from the Builder, do you use Run Web Layout or Run Paper Layout ?
    (If you have upgraded a Reports From 6i, there is no web layout , so you have to use the Run paper Layout
    The web layout is something new that appeared in Reports 9.0.2)

    I've been looking at this for about 3 days with a colleague in the office. We can resolve this be recreating the stored procedure with a new name (e.g. adding the suffix "_v2"). Its not really practical for us to do this throughout the system. Anyone know what the root cause might be?
    I'm currently connecting to Oracle10g using SQLTools and Oracle8 client. I've yet to upgrade to Oracle10 client.
    I've tried selecting all the stored procedures and re-compiling them but it appeared to make no difference.

    With "the browser opening a white page" do you mean that the Forms Java applet won't start at all or is it starting with a Forms with a white canvas without any items on it?
    If it is the first (Java not starting) there must be something wrong with your Forms setup. First try to run with the default setup without specifying a form. It should display test.fmx that it is included with the Forms setup. This Forms just tells you the setup succeeded and displays a single OK button

  • Urgent: Calling Reports from Oracle Forms 10g (10.1.2.0.2) fails

    Problem displaying a report from within Oracle 10g forms.
    After a lot of work, we are able to access and actually display a report directly from Internet explorer and view the report from the report server as well.
    The successful url was:
    http://york.vrc.virginia.gov:7778/reports/rwservlet
    ?report=/u01/app/oracle/produ ct/vrcmidtier/reports/vrc/pmw41051.rdf
    &userid=vrcpr/vrcpr@vrctest&destype=cache&desformat=HTML
    The form displays correctly back to the screen
    When executing from within the form, however, the report runs but does not display back to the screen.
    Forms Steps so far:
    created a report object called pmw41050
    static parameters are:
    file name: /u01/app/oracle/product/vrcmidtier/reports/vrc/pmw41051.rdfination format
    execution mode: batch
    communication mode: synchronous
    destination name; null
    destination format: HTML

    Built a when button pressed trigger as follows:
    declare
    l_report_file varchar2(200);
    l_report_id REPORT_OBJECT;
    l_report_status varchar2(200);
    begin
    -- capture the report
    l_report_file := 'pmw41051';
    l_report_id := find_report_object(l_report_file);
    -- set the parameters for this output
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_EXECUTION_MODE, BATCH);
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_COMM_MODE, SYNCHRONOUS);
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_DESTYPE, CACHE);
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_DESFORMAT, 'PDF');
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_SERVER, 'rep_york_vrcmidtier');
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_OTHER, 'PARAMFORM=NO');
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_DESNAME, 'DESNAME');
    -- and run the report
    l_report_status := run_report_object(l_report_id);
    -- monitor progress
    while l_report_status in ('RUNNING', 'OPENING_REPORT', 'ENQUEUED') loop
    l_report_status := report_object_status(l_report_status);
    end loop;
    message('back from the report'); -- test message for return
    end;
    The report executes without error (as indicated by the message on the last line) but does NOT display back to the screen
    checking the rwservlet/showjobs verifies the report completed and the reportcan be displayed from there.
    So, bottom line: how to make a 10g form call report and display it on the screen?

    the "Crystal_CrystalCtrl.ReportFileName" method call. Also, the connection string shown
    assumes that you will use the current USER and PASSWORD for the Form.
    - To make the above Form generic so that you can run any Crystal report from it, then create
    a parameter for the report name and pass it to the Form using CALL_FORM from any other Form.
    Then just replace the file name with the passed parameter.
    -. Run the Form

  • Calling Crystal Reports from Oracle Forms 10G

    Hi everyone,
    I am trying to call a crystal report from Oracle Forms 10G.
    I have a button on my Form which when clicked calls a Crystal Report which the uaser then wants to save as a PDf file.
    Can someone please send me the code to do this and also the exact steps that are to be followed.
    Thanks
    Fm.

    Hi Andreas,
    I am trying to call the crystal report from an Oracle Form using a URL. No batch file is being used here.
    I am looking for a peice of code similar to run_product or run_report built in in Oracle which calls an Oracle report from an Oracle Form.
    Also I dont want to display the report on a screen or a window in Oracle Forms. I would like it to run just as we run an Oracle Report from an Oracle Form.
    Is that possible ? If yes please let me know the steps to do this.
    Thanks
