FH-Collect for Output

I'm new to FH 11 and OSX on MAC (just upgraded from MAC OS9
and older FH). I can't seem to figure out how to "collect for
output" which I did all the time in my older version of FH. Any
savvy users willing to walk me through it... where in menus, etc?
Thanks in advance!!

I could find no instructions for "Collect for output" in the
FHMX Help
files. Many fonts are now copyright protected, making it a
copyright
violation to send away copies of fonts. I'm speculating that
Macromedia did
not want to be liable to being an accessory to a crime, so
downplayed this
feature.
1. If the PPD is important, make sure that PPD's printer is
set up and
selected as default printer with Print Setup Utility.
2. Make sure FH Document Setup is set for desired printer.
Save file.
3. File>Collect for output.
4. You get a Report dialog. Go through the categories in the
left column,
checking the items in the right column that you want included
in the report.
5. Now click the "Report..." button which gives you a Save
dialog. Create a
new folder and filename for the report. Click OK. Report and
collected
contents will be saved to that folder.
6. Open the folder. Among the contents, you will see a file
with a weird
filename like "4676b98a2c701". This is the PPD. I'm pretty
sure this naming
error is a bug. Open the file in TextEdit and find a line
similar to this:
*PCFileName: "ADPDF6.PPD"
This name in quotes is the name of the PPD. I would change
the filename to
avoid confusion at the print shop.
I hope this helps.

  • InDesign CS4 Package/Collect for Output - Missing links problem

    I posted this on the PC forum by mistake so I apologise for doubling up on the message for those who have found the same message twice. As far as I know this is a Mac only problem!
    Having recently freelanced in 3 design studios since the CS4 release, the Collect for Output problem within InDesign seems to be widespread. I've seen this happen on a range of machines from a G5's to laptops. All have been running the latest version of Leopard.
    For some unknown reason any document created in older versions of Indesign that is opened in IndDesign CS4 does not collect all the linked files when it's packaged. All preflight checks are fine, the new live preflight feature shows green light, I even tried re linking all files to a new source folder containing all links and it still only randomly collects one third of the needed linked files with no obvious pattern emerging between the files omitted, i.e clipping paths, colour profiles, file types.
    The worst thing is that it happens randomly on documents created fresh in InDesign CS4 as well so I'm having trouble trying to pinpoint where the problem stems from.
    This is driving people crazy, and I can see that it's going to be a major pain for numerous design agencies. I hope Adobe sorts this out quick or it's back to CS3 for most of us who charge for our time. I guess I can always send Adobe the bill for the time spent manually collecting all files for a job!!
    Please no obvious suggestions on preflight settings as it's happening to people with twenty plus experience in the business.
    Thanks for reading the post.

    Hi JAD the mad,
    we have the same problem on our machines here at work regarding the randomness of the Indesign CS4 package function collecting links.
    The office has recently upgraded to all new Power Mac G5's with Mac OS X Version 10.5.6. 2x2.8Ghz 4GB RAM, a new server and all new Adobe CS4 packages.
    Another user on the forum also has the same problem he said:
    nguyen khanh duy - 7:40am Nov 23, 08 PST (#31 of 67)
    I have a problems with my document created with Adobe Indesign CS4.
    I can not package the file with its links into a folder. Sometimes a few files are collected, but when I convert all the images into CMYK color space, none of them were collected.
    My documents contains 70 links and 140 pages.
    So when I need to collect links, I convert the document into CS3 INX file and use Indesign CS3 to collect the links.
    I've tried with other document with hundreds of links and all or them are 100 pages. All the links were collected. (offcourse with CS4)
    Please help me. Thank you very much
    As for our specific problem,
    We have files which do not package all the links properly. Indesign only packages a random amount of the links into the new folder. There seems to be no consistency with regard to file type, size, colour profile or location. The pre-flight shows a green light and this error seems to occur randomly. It is very annoying if we are working on the local hard drive and have links there and on the server and then want to package everything to upload to the server or to work on another computer. We have to find all the links and copy them individually to a new folder.
    Saving as with a new file name does not help. Also copying all links to a new folder from the links pallet does not copy all the links. The error is disconcerting due to it's seemingly random occurrence. We have tried all the simple solutions and it seems very much like a bug in the software.
    Does anyone else share this problem? It would be great to hear any suggestions or similar stories.
    Regards
    Steve

  • Indesign cc 2014 do not Collect for Output

    indesign cc 2014 do not Collect for Output with mac os x 10.9.4
    Any bug?

    Maybe you're looking for the wrong tool. In InDesign, it's called File > Package. Collect for Output is what QuarkXPress calls it.
    It's working fine in InDesign CC 2014. In fact, it was enhanced to also (optionally) save an IDML file (for saving backwards to an earlier version) and creating a PDF file for proofing.

  • Freehand MX no longer collects for output

    I need help! Freehand MX (11.0.2) no longer collects for
    output. I have tried deleting preferences, restarting, repairing
    permissions but I still can't get Freehand to collect for output.
    It was working just fine until today so I don't know where the
    problem is coming from. I have noticed that little by little menu
    options have stopped working. I updated to 11.0.2 but it continues
    to be very "buggy". The guides also won't hide. The menu shortcut
    does not work. If anyone has any suggestions, please please let me
    know.
    Thanks!

    It works here for me, saving to the local hard drive. You do
    have to save
    the report first and the rest of the items will then write to
    the same
    location.
    Check the fonts used in the document. FH must be able to find
    the correct
    fonts.
    > The guides also won't hide. The menu shortcut does not
    work.
    This is 'broken' under Mac OS Tiger. I have been able to set
    a custom
    keyboard shortcut for Show/Hide Guides. Cmd+Opt+; works for
    me. Change it
    under
    Edit>Keyboard Shortcuts>View>Guides
    You can also show and hide guides using the checkmark for the
    Guides layer
    in the Layers panel.
    You will also find that under Tiger the Show/Hide Grid toggle
    needs a custom
    keyboard shortcut. I use the F6 button.

  • Images rotate and resize when relinking after collect for output

    I just started using CS5 and have run into an issue that is very disturbing to me. When I relink my files from the collected folder that I send to printer, images that have been rotated in Indesign rotate to their actual size and rotation. This is not a good thing! We should not have to rotate all of our images outside of indesign.. Please Help!!!

    OK, we were cross posting, and I've now looked at your file.
    One key piece of information you didn't tell us before is that the file was created in CS3 and converted. There are a lot of reports of strange behavior with legacy files. This one seems to be somewhat corrupt at this point. I don't know how much of that was introduced form the conversion, and how much from the previous recycling.
    The best approach when converting a CS3 file is often to export as .inx from CS3 and open that in CS5. The other thing that helps is to open the old file iin CS5, then immediately export to .idml, then open that and save as a new .indd and work with that. Since I don't have the original CS3 version I don't know how that behaved or if .inx will help, but exporting this one to .idml seems to clear up problems with all the photos except the one at the top of page 4 which rotates 180 degrees when relinked.
    For best results you should probably rebuild this file from scratch in CS5, then save as a template. Starting each new editon from a template is more reliable than resaving an old issue and removing unwanted content. Although ID is more stable than most programs when you do this, creeping corruption is always a problem with long-term resaving of the same document and you often don't see it until you are hard up on deadline and your file goes south.

  • Collect Fonts for Output

    Where is the "Collect Fonts for Output" option in CS5?

    There was a demo script included with some versions that claimed to collect for output - i never tried it.
    Most of us here use either Artfiles or Scoop.  Both are 3rd party.  Scoop is a plugin, Artfiles is a separate app.

  • Bulk Collect for Uncertain columns

    Hi Experts,
    how to use bulk collect for uncertain number of columns of select statement.
    Master table structure:
    Create table tabmst
    (id number,
    cls_input varchar2(2000),
    price number);
    insert into tabmst(1,'select product, prod_price from product',500);
    insert into tabmst(2,'select product, prod_price,purchase_dt from product',100);
    insert into tabmst(3,'select * from product',1000);
    Currently I want to store Select statement of cls_input column in a local variable like
    dyn_qry:= cls_input; by using a cursor.
    Now my question is how to use Bulk Collect by using "Execute Immediate" in Bulk collect variable as there is not certainity of the number of columns from "Select Statment". Please suggest.
    Sample code:
    I created TYPE variable for Bulk Collect also support blk_var;
    Declare
    dyn_qry varchar2(3000);
    v_id number;
    v_prod_price number;
    v_product number;
    cursor c1 is select * from tabmst;
    begin
    for i in c1 loop
    v_id:=i.id;
    dyn_qry:= i.cls_input;
    Execute immediate dyn_qry into blk_var;
    (Here I want to store the columns values from "blk_var" in local variables "v_prod_price" ; "v_product" ;. But it is uncertains of the columns of "Select statement")
    End Loop;
    End;
    Now I want to store values of Each "Select statements columns" which is executing by dynamic SQL. but it is uncertain that how many columns will return from dynamic SQL.
    Please suggest the approach on the same. Thanks in advance.

  • Automatic Deployment Rule - One ADR for Two Different Collection for Two Different time Intervals

    I have a scenario where two collection of Windows 8.1 is made based on geographical location. One collection is for all the windows 8.1 machines in India and one collection is for all windows 8.1 machines in US. Now I have created one ADR to be deployed
    to the Collection for Machines in India with a schedule.
    My requirement is that can i use the same ADR for those two collection with different schedule. Say I want ADR to be deployed in India at say 10:PM IST and for US collection at say 10:00 PM PST.
    Can I use one ADR with two different schedule and can be deployed to two different collection. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Couple of "bits" to help you one your patch automation quest:
    A ADR is very much a 1:1:1 rule.  It creates (or updates) ONE update group, deploys it to ONE collection, and you can provide ONE schedule.  While you are more than capable of flipping said deployment time to use local time instead of UTC, in general
    it's a very simple set of rules that are dogmatically run.
    That said because of the "include" feature of collections it's not that hard to setup a good/robust patching pattern.  What I recommend doing is building an ADR for each variance of deployment of patches or enforcement time.  for example,
    my ADRs look something like this:
    Software Updates - Zero day enforced
    Software Updates - Critical and Security 1 month enforced
    Software Updates - Critical and Security 1 month no reboots
    Exact terminology is up to you of course, but I find a good descriptive ADR name saves a lot of confusion.  For each ADR I create an identical collection.  From there I can use existing collections and a simple "include collection" rule
    to bundle things up and make them part of the patching schedule of my choice.  Anyone can now go into my "software update" folder, look at my collections, and know exactly what gets patched by what deadline.
    Finally, don't be afraid to look into maintenance windows to trim down ADR count.  Making a deployment available for a month before it goes enforced, then setting up groups of maintenance windows (one for each Friday of the week for example) can also
    accomplish a similar goal by having machines auto-patch during their week but you only using one ADR.
    So by having two "types" of collections to manage your patching (one to assign a ADR built by deployment deadlines, the other for exact update windows) you should be able to group most your workstations into a decent patch scheudle without being
    too excessive about creating a billion ADRs.

  • Error "You cannot enter a partner function for output NEU"

    Hi Experts,
    I'm having these error "You cannot enter a partner function for output NEU" (message VN041) when I tried to assign a partner function (e.g OA)  in the conditions records for application "EV" (Purchase outline agreement). The system do not allow me to do this for any doc type (LP, LPA, MK, OA, etc). I'm using t-code NACE or MN08.
    I want to assign partner for key combination "Document Type". The conditions is already there but with no value, so I want to assign partner function "OA" or "VR".
    I already check all the configuration and looks fine. For example, define possible partner functions for output type "NEU" for application "EV" (Purc outline agree).
    Hope you can help me to find the problem.
    Thanks,
    Mairo.

    I have the error in NACE or using tcode MN08.
    As soon I executed those transaction the system shows the condition records created for varios Doc Type (e.g LP, LPA, MK, etc) but with no partner function assigned. For example:
    Doc. Type /  Name                     /             Funct  /   Partner     /            Medium  /  Date/time  /   Language
    LP        /       Scheduling Agreement     /  blank  / blank  /                                          2      /          3   /              EN
    LPA      /      Scheduling Agreement                              / blank    / blank   /                1        /       3         /        EN
    For example, I try to assign function "OA" for Doc. Type "LP", choose value from quickpick. Then when I press enter, the system give me the error "You cannot enter a partner function for output NEU", message no. VN041. Do not allow me to continue, so I have to leave this field blank, with no change.
    Thanks,

  • Creation of Process code for output type

    Hi,
    Could someone help me out in defining processcodes for output types.
    Thanks in advance,
    Yaseen

    Hi Yaseen,
    The Tr.code WE41 and WE42 are also used for maintaining process codes.
    To maintain process codes in WE41 or WE42, Go to these Tr.Codes and Click on the Change button. Then click on "new entries" button to create your new process code.
    FYI, Outbound process codes are stored in SAP Table TEDE1 and inbound process codes are stored in SAP Table TEDE2.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem writing file ANSI to UTF-8. OPEN DATASET FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE

    Hello everybody,
    My report needs  to create a file in ANSI so I am using this sentence: * "OPEN DATASET p_dir_a FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT."*  almost all charters in the file are well generating excepting for this two: ( Á ) & ( Í ) because SAP assigns the same code to both characters ( Ã? ) = 'xC3'  which is not correct, the right code should be ( Á ) = 'xC1'  ( Í ) = 'xCD' respectively
    from this string = ( ÁÉÍÓÚáéíóúàèìòùÀÈÌÒÙ ) only those two characters are wrong converted.
    Also I tray to catch a conversion error with this sentence:
              TRY.
                TRANSFER <field> TO p_dir_a NO END OF LINE.
              CATCH cx_sy_conversion_codepage.
                MESSAGE 'error' type 'I'.
            ENDTRY.
    but never enters in it.
    Does anyone know where I can configure SAP to SET this value correctly?
    Thanks for your help.

    was a server problem, not SAP

    I can reproduce the error in jdk1.5.0_03, jdk1.5.0_04 and jdk1.6.0-ea-b50. I am sure it's my program's fault, not the gc's. But as I have no knowledge of sun's JVM implementation, I don't know what may be the root cause. What error in JNI may cause the problem above?
    Hope you can help me! Thanks ahead.

    It is a core dump. Hence i feel the problem is in
    your native code. I think there is a null pointer
    exception or any exception in your native code. Check
    the native code. If it was java code problem, it
    would have generated an exception.You mean there may be unhandled exceptions in native code that
    may cause this problem?

  • Warning on PO Saving: No message generated for output of purchasing documen

    The following message is coming while saving the Purchase Order.
    No message generated for output of purchasing document
    Message no. 06261
    Diagnosis
    The system was not able to find a message record via the message determination schema. Therefore it was not possible for such a record to be generated for this purchasing document. In consequence, the purchasing document cannot be outputted (printed or transmitted).
    Procedure
    The message determination process should be checked and, if necessary, corrected.
    The message record can be created manually for this document. For this purpose, choose the function "Messages" in the menu "Header" and maintain the necessary data.
    Please guide.
    Regards,
    Aditi

    Hello Aditi,
    In messege determination necessary data is not maintained. Goto
    MN04, select output type as NEU, then click on key combination and select the last option, then select document type as NB and FUNC as VN and put medium as 1 and in Date / time field 4, language EN and SAVE the data.
    This will solve the problem.
    Regards.

  • Warning "No message generated for output of purchasing document" disabled

    Hello Gurus
    When a PO in ME21N is created and for some reason there was no output message determined the system should give a warning message "No message generated for output of purchasing document". It causes troubles because buyers don't know when they press SAVE whether output was made or not.
    Please advise where to enable this feature.
    Note: This happens not always and not for every user.
    Great Thanks and Best Regards!

    Hi Oibek,
    This message is automatic , i have not seen any config driving this.
    If there is no output message type maintained for document type or requirement is met , system by default issue the warning message 'No message generated for output of purchasing document' .
    Check the user GUI setting , may be warning messages are ignored for display.
    Logon to SAP -> Customization of Local Layout (ALT+F12)-> Options -> Options tab -> Dailog Box at warning Message ( tick the Check box).
    After this try creating PO from user Login , it should display a dialog box even for warning.
    Thanking You ,
    Sudhakar
