FH to SVG? Possible?

Is there anyway to go from Freehand to SVG without Adobe
Illustrator? I'd
like to import some drawings into inkscape, but the files
aren't
transferring well when exporting and importing as .ai files.
Anyway to go directly from FH to SVG with some converter app?

>I want to know how to do it too.
I finally found a way to do it, but I'm not in front of my
Mac at the
moment.
There is a command line converter tool available for
OSX...let me google...
(googling...)
I think this might have been the one:

  • Possible to generate graphics within smart forms dynamically like SVG ?

    Hello,
    I would like to generate a graphic for a smart form. This graphic will only be needed in the smart form. Therefore my question:
    It is <b>possible to generate dynamically graphics using ABAP</b> as programming language? In the same line like SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) or ChartDirector? I know it works in many other programming languages.
    Smart forms can handle *.bmp and *.tif picutres. Therefore the output of this ABAP program should be a picutre within the format *.bmp and *.tif.

    Welcome to SDN,
    I am not sure whether you can use SVG in smart form, but certainly in ABAP yes. check out the following atricle for more info.

  • Illustrator CS6 - Export Slices to SWF or SVG - not possible anymore?!?

    Hi all,
    I just learned that it's not possible anymore to export slices to swf or svg via the save for web dialog:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/ivandavid/illustrator_cs6_save_for_web/
    Apart from the fact that I believe that this is a pretty strange decision to remove an existing feature…
    Does anyone know a workaround for that (apart from installing cs5.5...)?
    I need to somehow be able to export my slices to swf.
    As far as I know, the only option to export slices is via the save for web dialog, but this dialog only offers pixel graphic formats, so now way to use fireworks or what ever to convert them to vector swfs…
    What a bummer…
    Thanks!

    Semi-ignore my previous answer - figured out another work around that involves converting your slices to artboards.
    After you have made all of your slices, use the Slice Selection Tool to select your first slice. Go to Object > Artboards > Convert to Artboards. This should create a new artboard out of that slice. Do this for all of your slices.
    After creating new artboards from your slices, go to File > Export... and select Flash (swf) from the dropdown menu. Make sure you check the "Use Artboards" option underneath the format menu.
    This process should result in individual swf files of each of your slices, along with your original image. Hope this helps!

  • Is it possible to export Vector Smart Objects as vector SVG files from Photoshop CC 2014?

    I have Vector Smart Objects copied from Illustrator and pasted into Photoshop. I would like to export them as vector SVG files (using Generator or Extract Assets). I can add the .svg extension to the layer and actually export an SVG just fine. The problem is any SVG I have exported have all been raster images. It defeats the purpose of having that as an option as far as I'm concerned.
    I remember watching and listening to keynotes and other speakers at Adobe MAX 2014 who said it was so powerful and amazing to create SVG files from Photoshop. If we're still exporting raster SVG files from Photoshop...that's not very impressive or exciting--especially since this era of modern web development benefits greatly from using vector SVG files.
    I understand that Shape Layers can be exported as vector SVG files but that seems very limiting. I also realize that users can create some impressive vectors in Photoshop, but that is not optimal. Illustrator is a better tool for creating vectors and I normally use Photoshop and Illustrator side-by-side. I know that vector SVG files can be exported from Illustrator but that isn't as user friendly and convenient as utilizing Photoshop > Generator > Reflow.
    My idea was to create my assets in Illustrator, paste them into Photoshop as Vector Smart Objects, set up my layout, and then use the Generator/Reflow method or Extract Assets to get a new web design started.
    Maybe I misunderstood what the speakers at Adobe MAX had said. Perhaps it's just user error and I'm just missing something simple (it happens).
    Photoshop CC 2014 notes the following under Help > System Info:
    Adobe Photoshop Version: 2014.2.2 20141204.r.310 2014/12/04:23:59:59 CL 994532  x64
    Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit
    Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your time.

    Not quite the same, but have a look at the new Libraries feature that came with 2014.2.2  I just tried it, and dragging a vector object into a library I created in Photoshop, was there in Illustrator.  This happens without having to close and reopen Illustrator.  Just use the drop down at the top of the Libraries panel (in Illustrator) to find your custom, or job specific library.

  • SVG in pdf created with FOP

    Hello,
    is it possible to include SVG`s to a pdf report, which is created with FOP?
    I read something like Batik....
    Does anybody have any experiences about that?
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Thank you, CtDave, for your speedy reply and for the 'Acrobat Technical Evangelist' knowledge base article. Word 2000 is one of Microsoft's masterpieces - by disabling 'autosave', the application is totally stable, does not require 'activation' by Microsoft. Acrobat 9 enables 'saving' of interactive .pdf forms, a most valuable feature and one much appreciated by anyone completiing such forms. There must be more to this issue than 'incompatibility', because I can create a test Word 2000 document, hyperlink a valid URL, convert to .pdf with Acrobat 9, and the hyperlink works fine in Acrobat 9. When I attempt to do this using a much more complex Word 2000 document, embedded with scores of hyperlinks, these links fail to work following conversion to .pdf with Acrobat 9, but work fine following conversion to .pdf with  Acrobat 6. I can then use Acrobat 9 to open the .pdf created with Acrobat 6, and successfully edit any of these fully functional hyperlinks using the 'Link tool'. I don't know who prepared the 'Acrobat Technical Evangelist' article (AF1908DCd01) - no credits were cited, and I'm far from certain that this authentically belongs to Adobe's knowledge base. So I appreciate your sharing this information with me, but I cannot say that my question has been definitively answered. If you have any further information or tips, please reply in this thread. /rmbrown

  • Placing SVG in InDesign CS3

    Is it true that it is no longer possible to place SVG as an image in InDesign CS3 ? When I try to place several SVG files these are interpreted (and placed) as text files, not graphics !
    Is there an update or special filter installer to do this as before ?

    Can you tell me with which version of Indesign you managed to get that working, I've been lookin to place SVG as image files into my InDesign without any success.
    I had to make a SVG2EPS Converter to be able to do so. But it is far more heavier in terms of disk space.

  • Script to open SVGs in a folder and save them to one multipage PDF

    Hi.
    I'm using Illustrator for work and I love it, I never needed scripts yet.
    Now I have couple houndred svgs coming in per day,
    I would like to have a script that opens every svg one by one in the selected directory and add them to a pdf
    as pages of the same size and than save it.
    Is this possible? How many files I could put in 1 pdf this way?
    I'm using Illustrator CS5 on Win7 x64.
    Thanks in advance.

    I think there is a 100 file limit on artboards ( not tested ) but the size would also affect that… You can't straight place *.svg but you can make group from them would that do you?
    #target Illustrator
    function filesToArtboards() {
              // My function variables…

  • SVG with PNG fallback, Responsive, EDGE Reflow & Animate integration

    I mentioned this on the Muse Facebook, and they said I should post it here... I think Muse is an awesome program. But I really, really would love to see these features. Any of them good enough to make it to the sketching table?
    1. SVG with PNG fallback support (for Retina displays)
    The problem with Hi-Res displays on Tablets, phones and laptops is that the web is becoming awfully ugly. You need to zoom to fit webpages, and when they fit, the JPG's and PNG's become blurry. Since displays are increasing resolution year after year and pixel density is becoming a real issue, on phones (like the HTC One) or laptops (Macbook Retina or Chromebook Pixel).
    Wouldn't it be great if we could use vector SVG for new devices for sharp a crisply logo's on every screen. And with that instantly use an automatic PNG-fallback option for older browsers. This would signifantly upgrade any website made with Adobe Muse and the Web in general if you ask me! I've done some research and I found this website very useful considering this issue: http://toddmotto.com/mastering-svg-use-for-a-retina-web-fallbacks-with-png-script/
    2. Responsiveness (Adobe EDGE reflow integration)
    Adobe Reflow is amazingly promising. What if (instead of making different websites for every device) you can export a website to Adobe Reflow to make the design instantly responsive.
    3. Beter Adobe EDGE Animate integration
    EDGE Animate is a great program, especially with the codes and actions which you cna integrate. The only problem is sometimes I want an animation to start playing when I'm at that part of the page, not after when it's done loading. Overall the integration is so-so, and it's doable to add an animation to Muse, but these tweaks could upgrade it from great, so turbo-awesome!
    Which brings me to my next point:
    4. Dynamic Content Loading (Load on view)
    Isn't Muse a great tool for making one-pages?! I love it for that, and I do love one-pages. The problem is that it can take a while to load when it's becoming more complex. Is there a possibility to add a feature when thing are loaded when you scroll? Which is fairly often used on blogs and stuff.
    5. Horizontal Parralax Scrolling
    Since the latest update I've been pretty hooked on the functions of parralax scrolling and what it could do in a usefull way. The problem is that it doensn't work for horizontal scrolling. The objects can move horizontal (when scrolling vertical). But there's no option to add an effect when scrolling in a horizontal direction.
    What do you think? Any of these interesting enough to develop?

    I would love all of the features in this post. But you must post it in the Idea section of the forum so people can vote for your ideas.

  • Variable color in SVG export

    Hello,
    we are in the process of designing a website for one of our customer, with the goal of making them self-sufficient in feeding the site with new products.
    One of the feature requires producing custom SVG files which are then rendered to PNG (when the browser doesn't support it correctly, that is most of them including Firefox which doesn't like gradients yet), and the possibility of updating several of the item colors on the fly.
    This requires identifying in the source file which colors must be flagged as say, "variablecolor1", "variablecolor2" and so on, with XML entities or some other means.
    Think about online visualization of t-shirt color changes.
    It's not actually scripting-specific, but nor windows or mac, and maybe there is a scripting solution to it.
    Since our customer is using Illustrator to generate their catalog, we wanted to integrate as much as possible with their workflow. AI seems to generate usable SVG files, however, we would like to avoid having to write an error-prone post-processing engine (likely in php) the designer will have to run to assertain which color entries in the files are the one we want to modify. Note possibly another part of the drawing with the same color might not be part of what to change...
    A possible option would be creating the SVG with a predefined color, like #0000fe for variablecolor1 or whichever, but they want to have it look with the chosen default colors when not yet changed. Having them produce two versions (one with correct colors and one with hardcoded values for us) seems error prone.
    The other option, as said is to run the SVG code through some magic identifying the color values, list them and allow checking which are to change. However this is also possibly error prone.
    With a co-worker we checked AI for quite some hours without much luck trying to find something that would allow us to directly flag those colors. The online manual had topics with interesting names but the descriptions weren't really helpful, so we had to test on his machine.
    We found about variables in AI, but sadly it seems this doesn't concern colors at all. Text, data and some other things but no color.
    Some other palette-swapping functions didn't seem to pass anything when exporting to SVG.
    Also, we checked the various option in the SVG export dialog, one exports XML entities, which would seem interesting if it didn't export the whole style of the object, besides it doesn't concern gradients which stay with their hardcoded colors on the gradient stops in the XML code.
    I find it odd that no such feature exists to allow variable or named colors in drawing...
    Does anyone know about such feature, or think it's possible to script something to easily flag the current object in such a way the SVG export would retain this information ?

    Oh, BTW, it technically is not a white background either. It is a transparent background. But the grid is hidden to make it easier to design. For new users this can be deceiving since almost any other app is a white background unless you see the grid like in photoshop. In Illustrator, to fill you are required to have an object.

  • IE + SVG = "Cannot display XML page" ?

    Dear friends,
       I am from Taiwan.  I have a question about SVG display on IE.
       I have a very simply SVG file as the following code.  I installed Ferdora R12 with apache web server (192.168.0.8) inside my company.
    I installed Tomcat 6.0 on my PC(192.168.0.100, window 7 with IE8.0).  I put this SVG file on Fedora, and I can see the vector graphs through
    Chrome and Firefox, but not IE(already installed SVG viewer, with the error message as following).  I put this SVG file on my PC, I can see the vector graphs by IE, Chrome and Firefox through Tomcat or opening file directly. I even put this SVG file on the web server of my company, and vector graphs can be displayed well through all of IE, Chrome and Firefox.
      The problem seems only happen in the situation "Fedora R12 + IE".  Do you have any idea of this problem?  I really need your help.
      Thank you.

  • Can interactive SVG's be called from within a symbol in the yepnope function?

    I'm hoping someone may have run across this before, I'm trying to access an interactive svg (called "map") from inside a symbol (called "world") in the compositionReady event from the stage.  The image loads just fine as long as I have it directly on the stage, but for the project I'm working on it would be way more convenient to have the svg inside of a symbol since it's supposed to scale in sync with a bunch of other elements.  I have tried everything I can think of to reference the svg inside the symbol, but nothing works.
    My code from the compositionReady event looks like this:
    yepnope({
              load: "http://cdn.edgecommons.org/an/1.0.0/js/min/EdgeCommons.js",
              complete: function() {
                        // enable svg access
                        EC.SVG.accessSVG( sym.$("map") ).done(              // this is the line where I'd like to reference the svg "map" inside of the symbol "world"
                                  function(svgDocument){
                                            // event listener
                                            svgDocument.addEventListener("select", function(event){
                                                      // remember selecte part
                                                      sym.setVariable("selectedPart", event.target);
                                                      // show id
                                                      sym.$("selectedPartTxt").html(event.target.id);
    It's the EC.SVG.accessSVG( sym.$("map") ).done part that I can't wrap my head around.  I've tried to reference the "world" symbol with things like:
    EC.SVG.accessSVG(
    var mySymbolObject = sym.getSymbol("world");
    mySymbolObject.$("map") ).done
    or
    EC.SVG.accessSVG( sym.$("world").$("map") ).done
    but nothing is working!!!  Does anyone know where I've gone wrong? Or perhaps it isn't possible to call an svg from a symbol?
    Thanks for any advice you have!

    Here is my code in a file I used as a sample. I put the bee in a symbol named world and it works correctly:
    EC.SVG.accessSVG(sym.getSymbol('world').$('bees')).done(
              function(svgDocument){
                        // add event listener
                        svgDocument.addEventListener("select", function(event) {
                        // Remember selected part
                        sym.setVariable("selectedPart", event.target);
                        // show the id of the selected part in the textfield
                        sym.$("selectedPartTxt").html( event.target.id );
    Let me know if this helps. I can post the sample if you want.

  • Input field in SVG GUI?

    Hi again,
    currently i am experiencing SVG tiny.
    Is it possible to use a SVG GUI with input-fields? I like the SVG style...but i need input fields (text fields etc) At the moment i have "only" a UI with menu items which work well!
    Is it possible to read a text-field from a SVG GUI and to get the user input?!
    Thanks for your answer!

    Would be useful to have it, but AFAIK there is no input element in the SVG specification.

  • Problem faced in viewing SVG elements in IE 7 in windows 2003 server machine

    Hi All,
    We are using SVG to use graphics elements in web page for our product. The web page contains HTML+SVG elements.
    If we use an HTML Image element in our web page display and if we draw or configure SVG elements like rectangle or circle over the image element, then on viewing it in browser, the html image element overlaps the SVG elements and they get hidden behind the image.
    Please help us in resolving this issue.
    This scenarios works fine if we use browser IE7 in windows XP machine.
    But on using IE7 in windows 2003 server machine, the problem is faced.
    We have tried all possible and valid IE settings and properties to make the display work. But its helpless. The SVG plugin is also installed properly on systems. But still the display is not as intended.
    I have attached the working scenario screenshot and non working scenario screenshot
    The screenshot here contains an html image which is showing text as Incom tax department and on top of it is SVG element rectangle. This is viewed in Windows XP in IE 7 browser
    This screenshot contains the same page above but when viewed in Windows 2003 IE 7 browser. The SVG rectangle is overlapped by the html image element here
    Kindly please help us in this regard as we are unable to proceed further with this issue. If anyone of you have face this before, then please help us on the resolution. We will be very grateful
    Thanks a lot.

  • How to place SVG image in web page?

    Attempting to use an SVG image for first time, saved out of
    Illustrator CS3. When I try to place it on a web page in
    Dreamweaver CS3, .svg file is greyed out. Dragging it onto page in
    design view just makes a text link to the image, that has to be
    clicked to display the SVG. What I really want to do is use SVG
    file as a background image (800 x 600 px) that scales to fill
    browser window - is that possible?
    System: Mac OS X 10.4.11

    There is no reliable way to size an 800 x 600 background
    image up or down
    according to viewport size. You could center the page. Thus
    your BG image
    would move to center with page color appearing on either side
    on wider
    displays.
    800 x 600 background image is quite large by web standards.
    Most web
    designers prefer to use small images or slices and then tile
    or repeat them
    horizontally and/or vertically.

  • SVG text doesn't display correctly in Illustrator

    The following SVG (generated via Cairo) displays correctly within browsers (Firefox and Safari), but not within Illustrator: the glyph symbols are drawn at the wrong scale, upside-down, and on top of one another. Is the problem within the SVG file itself? That doesn't seem likely, given that the browsers have no problem with the file. If the problem is within Illustrator... what is the root of the problem, and is there any possible workaround?

    Yes, a browser displays it fine. But they also often display invalid html code fine. Your code does validate. And InkScape does open it fine. InkScape does have it in the root rather than on a layer, don't know if that is making a difference to Illustrator or not. Nothing else I have that opens SVG files deals with it as well as Illustrator.
    Here is the same file, text put back and resized down a bit. Run it through validation. You'll note Illustrator does not use the MathML 2.0 extensions. Perhaps that is the hang up.
