FHUI.log error in cisco LMS 4.2

Hello Everyone
i have a problem when i tried to login in Fault history manager , i have this error messeage and can't login
An exception occurred while retrieving the data.
Please check the FHUI.log file for further details.

Hi Mohamed,
it could  be becuase of corrupted Fault history database ,tru to run the transaction log recvovery ,if that does not fix it then you need to reintilaize the DFM fault history database.
transaction log recovery process:
1.stop the daemon manager
2. remove the dfmfh.log (NMSROOT/CSCOPx/databases/dfm/dfmfh)
3.NMSROOT/CSCOpx/databases/dfm/dfmFh > dbsrv10.exe -f dfmFh.db
4. start the daemon manager
wait for 15 mins ,login and check the issue again.
if above does not work ,re-init the DFM FH database
stop the daemon manager
NMSROOT\bin\perl.exe NMSROOT\bin\dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmFh dmprefix=FH  (windows)
/opt/CSCOpx/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmFh dmprefix=FH  (solaris \linux)
start the daemon manager
Hope this will help
Thanks-
Afroz

to fix the database issue , you need to reintilaze the ANI database:
    1) Stop the daemon manager
    "net stop crmdmgtd"
    2) Go to NMSROOT\CSCOpx\bin.
     NMSROOT\bin\perl.exe NMSROOT\bin\dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=ani dmprefix=ANI

  • Cisco LMS - logs exceed limit

    Hi friends,
First of all, let me introduce myself since I'm new with cisco community. I'm syafiq currently working as an network administrator in Malaysia.
I need guidance on cisco LMS as I'm really new with the LMS systems. Currently I'm having issue with LMS where the log files are exceeding the size limit set by pervious administrator. Can anyone help me on how to backup/ remove the logs file and set it to a new locations i.e. new drive ?
    thanks in advanced!

    Hi,
    Welcome to CSC.
Ciscoworks has many features and all of those features has dedicated processes. All those processes and many ciscoworks agnets write their output (logggin) to the *.log files. Most of them are under NMSROOT/logs.
These files are usually not important enough (except syslog.log mostly) unless there is any issue with any of the LMS function and it needs to be t/shooted.
But these logs files should not be deleted, nor there data needs to be preserved for long, unless your organisation policy says so.
Because processes keeps on writing constantly to these log files, these log files can grow and can continue to grow to become extravagantly huge sometimes, hence need to be controlled, which is why the 'Logrot' feature was inlcuded.
Logrot is a log rotation program that enables you to control the log files size growth. It helps you to:
•Rotate log files while CiscoWorks is running.
•Optionally archive and compress rotated logs.
•Rotate log files only when they have reached a particular size.
You can configure it from :
Common Services > Server > Admin > Log Rotation
Please check configuring log Maintaining Log Files section of the user guide for more details.

    Error:-

This error could be due to one of the following:
    - The device package for this device type is not installed.
    - Device support for this device type is not available.
    - You are trying to open a component inside a device.
To correct the problem, either install a device package for the device type, or open the parent device to manage the component.

Evrything looks good. Are you able to access LMS in the server itself? Try to install another browser on your server and try to login.
    Try both :
    http://x.x.x.x:1741
    https://x.x.x.x:443
    Share NMSROOT/MDC/tomcat/logs/stdout.log and stderr.log.

  • Cisco LMS 3.2 SYSLOG not storing after 10 days

    Hi ,
Im facing one issue with Cisco LMS 3.2
Issue : The logs is generating only for 10 days and post that im not able to see the logs. I have not done any config changes. The only change i have done is i have completely reinstalled the LMS. i did multiple troubleshoot but not able to resolve this isse. It would be great If any some one is  able to help me in this isse.  Thanks.
    Regards,
    Juliet

    Dear Vinod
Thanks for ur response and the problem has been resolved.
The purge policy was set to 60 days only .The problem in reports viewing setting.
Syslog folder under LMS would store syslog reports of both the device as well as applications for defined folder size , which in your case was 1 MB ( same can be viewed under log generator option).  The  older reports would get deleted from the folder upon reaching the limit.
The only way to view device syslog is under following option :  Reports -> Reports Generator  in LMS  GUI where we will have to choose syslog with desired attribute.
    Regards,
    Juliet

  • Cisco LMS 4.0.1 to Prime Infrastructure 2.x Upgrade

    Hello,
we are using Cisco LMS and want to upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure.
Now we have received the following license update: L-L-PI2X-100-U     -      LMS to Prime Infrastructure 2.x Upgrade 100 Device
and I wonder what is the best way to upgrade.
After a long search I found the following document on cisco:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/cloud-systems-management/prime-infrastructure/guide-c07-729990.html#wp9000727
There is only the talk of the upgrade from 4.2 LMS to Prime.
The problem is that we can not update to version 4.2 because of an error. Thats one reason why we need to upgrade to prime.
Is the only possibility now to export databases?
    thanks in advance

    Hi Heiko,
Upgarding from LMS 4.0.1 to LMS 4.2  , you need a New Licesne . Are you getting that error..
Upgarding from LMS to PI is alomost like a new Installation of PI. because only thing you can IMPORT from LMS to PI is the device list .
you can download the software from the below link:
    http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=284422771&flowid=45323&softwareid=284272932&release=2.0.0&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=all

  • Cisco lms - backup out of the box

when using cisco lms 4.2.5 linux version, what would be the best way to backup the config files out of the box?
what i'm lookin for is a way to take the shadow folder to another box for disaster recovery.

Hi, i found this solution to work very well for exporting files out of the box:
    As user root:
    1) on cisco-lms install sshfs, which lets you mount a folder on a remote box through sftp:
    install in the following order:
    rpm -ivh fuse-libs-2.7.4-8.el5.x86_64.rpm
    rpm -ivh fuse-2.7.4-8.el5.x86_64.rpm
    rpm -ivh fuse-sshfs-2.5-1.el5.rf.x86_64.rpm
    2) mount
    mkdir /mnt/backup
    sshfs root@<remote-linux-box-ip>:<remote-folder> /mnt/backup -o allow_other
    3) rsync with cron
    00 1 * * * rsync -r -v /var/adm/CSCOpx/files/rme/dcma/shadow/* /mnt/backup/ >> /root/rsync.log 2>&1

  • Alerts from Cisco LMS

Dears I have some concerns about SNMP and Cisco LMS :
Our network device sent a LINK DOWN trap to CISCO LMS followed by LINK UP trap . I can see these messages from the device logs . My questions is :
1-If the device is configured correctly to send snmp traps .And the syslog is showing both messages (LINK DOWN , LINK UP) then we can say the device is sending the snmp traps ?
2-Why the LINK UP trap is missing in Cisco LMS .. What should we check to make sure LMS is sending and receiving these alert in proper way  ???
    Thanks in advance .

    Hi ,
-If the device is configured correctly to send snmp traps .And the syslog is showing both messages (LINK DOWN , LINK UP) then we can say the device is sending the snmp traps ?
Syslogs are different from SNMP traps , If you are seeing syslogs for linkup and linkdown ,it does not mean that device is sending the SNMP traps as well.
2-Why the LINK UP trap is missing in Cisco LMS .. What should we check to make sure LMS is sending and receiving these alert in proper way  ???
You can verify the snmp trap by packet capture
    Thanks-

  • IPv6 log error messages

I recently did an upgrade with pacman (the updates included a new kernel so I'm guessing that has something to do with my issue). Since then I've had this error appear at least 43759 times in my /var/log/errors.log files:
    localhost NetworkManager[809]: <error> [1322431974.973396] [nm-system.c:1061] nm_system_replace_default_ip6_route(): (eth0): failed to set IPv6 default route: -1
Has anyone else been getting this error? It's filled all my log rotations and I suspect it's causing some other issues as well.

  • STP error on Cisco (uplink to Extreme)...

When I see this in a log:
On Cisco sw we get this error in logs:
    *Feb 28 16:04:30.982: %SPANTREE-2-RECV_PVID_ERR:
Received BPDU with inconsistent peer vlan id 1 on GigabitEthernet0/1 on vlan 11.
    *Feb 28 16:04:30.982: %SPANTREE-2-BLOCK_PVID_PEER: Blocking GigabitEthernet0/1 on vlan 1.
    Inconsistent peer vlan.
    *Feb 28 16:04:31.000: %SPANTREE-2-BLOCK_PVID_LOCAL: Blocking GigabitEthernet0/1 on vlan 11.
    Inconsistent local vlan
Odd part is on the uplink side (Extreme 5i STP is disabled).  The error means that onn the Cisco side it recv'd a packet that should of been vlan 11 untagged|?
It goes to a cisco 3548XL (really old IOS) when I have sw mo tr and sw tr en dot1 on its uplink.
Nornally between sw to sw we always have all vlans tagged...but for this setup to work I have to untag vlan 19 on the Extreme side and then add sw tr na vl 19 on the Cisco uplinik side, other wise not all vlan traffic passed.  Any ideas?  Vlan 11 is management vlan 19 is user vlan.

Thats the odd part,  I have setup this up at diff sites 20+ times...but never with a Cisco 3548XL to an Extreme 5i, it shouldnt matter, but it does.  I recv'd an old config from the LAN rtr and its does show all ports tagged....so its left to something funky on the Cisco.

When I have sw mo tr (on Cisco gi0/1) which uplinks to Extreme 5i and have all ports tagged....the Cisco disables the uplink port to the Extreme for a vlan with the log error I posted earlier.  Unfortunately its for a school district, so its   picking up....so it might be a bit until I can get back out during a maintenance window.  Thanks for the feedback.  I have seen cases where this IOS is old and well needed udpate is probably in order, as you said.

  • Cisco lms - config collection

Hi, i'm looking for a way to collect config's from specific devices periodically, is this possible?
for example, collect configs from firewalls everyday at midnight , and collect routers config once a week.
firewalls: (about 3 devices, config changes every day)
routers: (about 800 devices, rarely change the config)
the only config collection schedule i have found so far is too simple:
admin > collection settings > config > config collecion settings > periodic collection
second question, is it possible for cisco lms to send via e-mail the diff of the config pulled from devices? i mean the specific commands that have appeared in the new configuration file.
    regards, ignacio

Unfortunately, LMS syslog mechanism is very minimalistic and doesn't have a lot of options to it.
However, the feature you're requesting is not very much LMS dependent. As, Ciscoworks depends on the kind of syslog message it receives from device, based on it, it captures some characters to send a notification as automated actions.
So usually it is the device which won't send a lot of information on what changes was done by which user in normal IOS syslog messages.
But, to certain extent, you can try to configure you device for Configuration-Change logger to receive details on what changes were made by users and check it on the syslog report, or configure AA on it for all or important devices.
You can enable a configuration logger to keep track of configuration changes made with the command-line interface (CLI). When you enter the logging enable configuration-change logger configuration command, the log records the session, the user, and the command that was entered to change the configuration. You can configure the size of the configuration log from 1 to 1000 entries (the default is 100). You can clear the log at any time by entering the no logging enable command followed by the logging enable command to disable and reenable logging.
    Use the:
show archive log config {all | number [end-number] | user username [session number] number [end-number] | statistics} [provisioning] privileged EXEC command to display the complete configuration log or the log for specified parameters.
This example shows how to enable the configuration-change logger and to set the number of entries in the log to 500:
     Switch(config)# archive
     Switch(config-archive)# log config
     Switch(config-archive-log-cfg)# logging enable
     Switch(config-archive-log-cfg)# logging size 500
     Switch(config-archive-log-cfg)# end
So, in all, it depends on the device and the kind of syslogs it send for LMS to react on it.
    -Thanks

  • Cisco LMS 4.2.2 installation problem

    Hi
The Cisco LMS 4.2 installation went without hickup, and it works fine.
When i try to upgrade to 4.2.2 i get a error during the installation that some files are locked.
I checked the documentation, it says nothing about stopping services before the upgrade.
I tried stopping the management daemon, but it still throws the same error.
You can view a screen shot on the link below.
    http://bildr.no/view/1276942

After what you have done, it is strange to see this error. As if the Daemon manager is set to manual and Server rebooted, any ciscoworks process should not be running, unless started manually.
Do you have any tool/software to manage processes and it starts some essential processes when they are down??
    > Do you see dmgtd.exe in task manager? It is Obvious for a executable to keep hold of many .dll library files, hence as soon as the .exe filed is killed, the .dll files should be free and you can try hitting retry.
Please make sure you comply to following best practices for windows installation :

    Regards,
    Adarsh

    Hi Mike,
    Thanks for your response.
What roles are assigned to the user that is triggering these error messages?
This is our new development server and we have migrated stuff from 11.5 to 12.1 and there are only 8 users on this system and all of them are super admins but of those I am the only one using the system currently and I am not sure it is being generated by any of our 8 users because the interesting point is this error generates on every 49th minute of hour (for eg, 10:49, 11:49, 12:49 and so on) and along with I see two more errors "SR Log error" occurring on same time.
These are the only three errors I see repeating every hour and no other errors.
What version of the JRE is running on the machine accessing MII?
On client machines we have JRE 1.5 update 22 and on server we have JRE 1.5 update 21
What process is being performed at the time of the error messages?
No background jobs are scheduled and even if I don't run any programs still I can see this error on every hour
    Regards,
    Adarsh
