FI Functional - opinions required.

Hello ,
    I am working in ABAP for 2 years in a reputed Indian IT firm.
    I am thinking of moving towards the functional side, as it suits my strengths better than Technical side.
    I am interested in SAP FI. Planing to go for a SAP FI Certification in a month's time.
    Would a 2 year technical expertise coupled with a FI Certification suffice to lead me into the Techno-Functional / Functional side or would my lack of Domain knowledge prove determental ?
    Please let me know of ur experiences and opinions...

Hi,
Understading the SAP flow/business flow/process flow is the most important job of any functional consultant. In case of FI you should be knowing that how the finance flow is and how it should be, how to map it etc..
Experience is not the criteria to shift but the knowledge which matters. If you think that you know the procedure and your current knowledge is bit eough to start up as a FI consultant surely you can move into it. Also you can talk to you colleagues who are working on it and ask what all the basic things required for a FI consultant which will help you in learning fast.

Functional specification required for Me57 requirement

In SAP MM, Transaction ME57, I want to pull in the Common Inventory Quantity (Not Project or Sales Order Stock) of the Material which is maintained on the Purchase Requisition.
And also in the T code MB52 screen, the Inventory Quantity i want to bring it. It will be ALL Common Inventory in the Plant (minus Storage Loc a001 for Plant a000). Again, this should NOT pull in Project or Sales Order stock. Only Common Inventory.
I would like a rough functional specification draft ASAP. Pleas help.

we can get SAP idoc types in tcode we31.For every requirment there will be different message type.
For example we want idoc type for account invoice receipt.
First find out message type for that purpose which can be found in we81-ACC_INVOICE_RECEIPT.
Get this message type and search in we82 where we can find message type and idoc type linkage.
try this way.

MM functional help required

I have to develop a report the description given like this:

Any part that rolls a rev and is a material type - ROH; HALB or FERT
Any assembly that uses any part in item 1 or 2 with a disposition of Scrap or re-work for that part</b>
the initial screen contains
Plant
Material          to

Cost of Re-work
the output should be in the format
Derived      Material    Matl Descrpn     Plant      Disposition     Cost/Re-wrk Cost     POs Qty     Material at Vendor     Stock     Consigned to customer     W.O. Qty     Total Cost
the standard transactions Cs15 and QS51 need to used for the logic.
Can anyone explain me the flow/logic?

In this forum you can get small doubts cleared .
You cannot expect someone to explain logic for the functional spec.
(and one cannot explain also through this forum)
Better you can discuss with your MM functional consulatnt who has given this spec and code according to the requirement.

MacPro Freezes - Mouse Functions - Reboot Required

Need some help. I've been experiencing problems with my pre-2009 Mac Pro for the last 4-6 months. I thought it might have been an OS issue but when I installed the new Snow Leopard, that didnt fix the problem.
My system after being on for minutes to hours (and not all the time) will freeze. I can still move the wired mouse around the screen but the bluetooth keyboard does not function nor can I click on any program in the dock or file menus. It requires me to force quit the Mac and then takes about 2-3 restarts for the system to turn on properly. Sometimes, even the mouse cursor will freeze.
Im running a Mac Pro Dual-Core Intel Xeon on OS 10.6.1. I have 4GB of memory and running an ATI Radeon X1900XT graphics card. I have (2) 500GB & (2) 750GB hard drives installed with plenty of space. Only my main 500GB drive that holds my applications has 20GB of space left but that shouldnt be causing any problems.
Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

I have to disagree with your conclusion that HFS+ is happy to have 4% free space, and who knows how fragmented that is.
Plus, hard drives, and system triple so, don't like or perform well full (more than 70%, ideal is less).
3 yr old X1900. Do you use 3rd party cooler? clean dust bunnies every 3 months? run the fans @ 800 rpm by default?
New drive. Zero drive. Clean install OS. Import files once you confirm it works. REPLACE X1900 with ATI 4870. WD Caviar Black 640GB boot drive. Let us know how that feels. And DO use Disk Warrior - preventative maintenance on weekly basis.

Functional Input required

Hi All,
I need your functional inputs on one of the client requirement.
They want to do cost planning for project components at the time of bidding / quotation stage.
At this time, they dont have even created material master so we cant assign material to activity (which brings standard price as plan cost for activity which rolled upto WBS)
If this is done with any other method (activity element - cost, manual planning in CJ40 or Easy cost planning for WBS Element) and when at later stage material master is created with standard price and attached to activity, plan cost will be approximately doubled.
Because plan cost for that particular activity will be addition of cost planning done earlier and standard price of material.
How to tackle this situation.
Request you to kindly provide inputs / best practices based on your experience.

Planning costs in versions seems to be helpful. Even I had the same thing in mind.
But just one question that suppose I create project in version 1 (not zero version) and planned costs.
In my project cost planning is done in several ways like
Work center wise activity cost plan
General cost activities / activity elements
CJ40 (with primary cost element and also secondary cost elements, not overall planning) etc.
Easy cost planning
Here as suggested by you, I wont add materials instead I will plan their cost using either CJ40 (cost element planning) or CJR2 or Easy cost planning.
At later stage when I will create project (in version 0) by copying this (from version 1), will all planned costs also get copied. If no, then I will have to repeat whole exercise and if yes, after material addition, it will be duplication.
Request you to kindly provide inputs on same. Also clarify if my understanding is right wrt cost planning by version.

Functional Analysis Required.

I have a requirement in which I need to write a functional specification for a program. I need to fetch the payer data which is having KNA1-ZZDTCESS value populated(Payer which are having this field value blank no need to fetch those payer).ZZDTCESS is the cession date and this is a custom field in KNA1.Its data element is DATUM.
Now after fetching this KNA1-ZZDTCESS value of the payer this needs to be updated to the all the sold-to-party which are attached to this payer.Sold-to-party also having this custom field.
Finally we need to develop a batch job which will run this program to udpate the ZZDTCESS value in the Sold-to-Party.
Can you please let anyone know how to write the logic for this program?

Oadman, i think u are right that this fm should solve the porpose. But when i am trying to execute this FM it is not converting the format.
Ex:
I am gining IFIELD = 123,567.89
Default setting : 123,456.89
It is giving the output
EFIELD = 123,567.89

You require to know the configuration well, as the scope of work of End User & Functional Consultant is a big difference. However, it is not impossible, but you require to work hard towards it. The link below could be very helpful for knowledge enhancement:

I have an requirement where i have to hide the assignment block "subsequent assignment" for the opportunity. I dont have any idea how to do it. Is there any function module or BADI to do so.

Hi Raman,
there are several ways:
1.
Implement method DO_CONFIG_DETERMINATION and get another configuration for the overviewpage. In this configuration you can display the assignmentblocks as desired.
2.
Methods DETACH_STATIC_OVW_VIEWS in combination with REATTACH_STATIC_OVW_VIEWS.
Here you can iterate over all assignment blocks and strip those not wanted from the UI.
3.
In the business partner there is a BAdI for this. THere might be one for BT as well. Maybe someone knows, or debug for the call yourself.

Functional Location Required field- Notification processing

I would like to maintain Functional Location as a Required field for certain Notification Types. In IMG:
Plant Maintenance and Customer Service>Maintenance and Service Notifications>Notification Creation>Notification Types>Set Field Selection for Notifications
Field Selection for Maintenance Notifications
Field Selection Reference Objects PM Notification
When I Select Field Selection for Maintenance Notifications>Select Influencing: Notification Types and Selected the desired Notification Type and set Functional Location as a Required field the Notification Type does not have Functional Locatiion as a Required Field.
When I select Field Selection Reference Objects PM Notification:ISelect Influencing: Notification Types and Selected the desired Notification Type and set Functional Location as a Required field* the Notification Type does not have Functional Locatiion as a Required Field.
But When I select Field Selection Reference Objects PM Notification:Make Functional Location as a Required field and then Select Influencing: Notification Types and Selected the desired Notification Type and set Functional Location as a Required field* all the Notification Type does have Functional Locatiion as a Required Field.
How do i make the Functional Location as a Required field for a particular Notification type.

Order BOM functionality suggestions required

Hi Gurus
I have a very immediate required question on a new functionality at my client place. My client had given a master data BOM and wanted to edit the BOM based on the customer requirement and selected BOM components should get transferred to MRP for the planning.
So BOM is already maintained and based on the order , Order BOM should be maintained. So after fixing the order BOM components should get transferred for planning. Please Suggest this scenario with all the tcodes and configuration involved .

Order BOMS are to be used in a MTO scenario if the components are to be transferred to planning.
No additional customization are required for order bom, following steps are to be followed
(1) Create a master bom - CS01
(2) Create a sales order - VA01
(3) Create Order BOM - CS61 (you can refer to the master bom & copy the relevant components)
(4) Execute MRP - MD50/MD02
(5) System shall generate the planned order & it shall have the components assigned in the order BOM

For example I have the begin date as 11/02/2007...I have the number of days as 91...If I add these days to the initial date I will get the final date.
Is there any fm to achieve the same if i have the initial date and number of days...Please let me know..Its bit urgent

you dont have to go for any function module.You can directly add the number of days to the date for getting the final date.try this example..
parameters:
p_date like sy-datum,
p_days type i.
p_date = p_date + p_days.
write p_date.

Based on your this post, i think u want like this way...
How many times from source DTM_Y2K_DATE or <LinItem>(because DTM_Y2K_DATE   in LinItem ) occurs that many of <Item> in target is required rt??
Then u map like,
DTM_Y2K_DATE (Change context to LineItem(right clich and choose context)) and map to LineItem of target.
and also now map directly from DTM_Y2K_DATE to Start Date(Dont change any context now..)

Delete key function reset required

The delete key in Safari always returned to the previous page browsed. Now, for some reason, it only functions as a regular delete key and no longer moves back a page. This happened for, seemingly, no reason, I didn't reset anything. Any ideas how to reset the key so it becomes the "page-back" key it should be? I just hate having to move the arrow up to the corner all the time!

The delete key (called backspace on a PC) deletes to the left. If you want to delete to the right, hold down the function key (fn on the lower left corner) and delete.
