FI Summarization - Opinions

Dear All,
Due to our business requiremnt, we need to post more than 1500 line items through one delivery and in single invoice. We are thinkng of implementation of FI summarization at billing as well as delivery *** stock transfer. We are not using any special purpose ledger and our COPA is costing base.
We would like to know the expert opinions whether the procedure is suggestable or not ?
Regards
Anilkumar

Hi
If you are using Document Summarization, specially for Delivery, check with your MM Consultant for effect in Table MKPF. Summarization may create inconsistency in MM Reports, specially for Stock and also cause errors/warnings at the time of Transaction. This would again depends on the parameters (Plant for eg) on which summarization is done

Does anyone have experience with or opinions about the free McAfee security suite offerd by At&t U-Verse? I would also ask the same about OpenDNS, which seemed to work fine on my old Mac. Thanks

The McAfee product is much worse than useless.
This is a comment on OpenDNS and other public domain-name system (DNS) services, such as Google DNS. You should use such a service if it solves a problem for you, and not if it creates problems you don't already have. To summarize:
    1. Using public DNS will probably not make your network faster, and may make it slower.
    2. It will probably not stop your browser from being redirected when you try to connect to a valid web address.
    3. It will not make you safer from malware attacks.
    4. It could cause confidential information to be compromised.
    5. It has other privacy implications that you should be aware of.
A DNS server resolves the human-readable "domain name" of an Internet host, such as www.apple.com, to the numerical address by which that host can be reached. The process is analogous to looking up a phone number by name. There is no chance that changing the DNS server you use will have any effect on a network problem not related to name resolution.
There are two valid reasons why you might want to use a public DNS service:
The DNS servers provided by your ISP are misconfigured (perhaps deliberately) or don't perform well.
You have a use for the filtering controls provided by OpenDNS and others.
Although some DNS services are touted as responding faster than others, there will be no noticeable difference if your ISP is delivering what you pay for. Most likely, the difference in response time among the DNS servers available to you is on the order of a hundredth of a second or less. But under some conditions, public DNS will significantly slow down network performance. Here is a case in point.
A content-distribution network (CDN), such as the one used by Apple to deliver software updates and iTunes content, relies on the location of the DNS server to optimize performance. If your query goes to a distant server, you may get slow downloads of Apple content, among other things. From the report of a test carried out by a networking consultant:
We listed 9 CDNs that would benefit from supporting/using edns-client-subnet, and only two actually support edns-client-subnet: CDN77 and ChinaCache. Others, including Akamai, Internap and CDNetworks, do not currently. This really is too bad, because from the performance data we collected, it is clear these CDNs deliver (much) worse performance currently in many countries to Google DNS and OpenDNS users.
Another reason often given for using public DNS is to avoid "redirection," that is, false results from a query for a valid domain name. Ethical ISP's do not intentionally redirect valid DNS queries, though it might happen unintentionally because of a misconfiguration; for example, because the address of a network host has recently changed, or because of a "poisoning" attack on the DNS server. Note that many ISP's may, and OpenDNS certainly will, redirect invalid queries to ad sites, in violation of published standards for DNS.
Recently, a few low-quality commercial ISP's such as "CenturyLink" have taken to deliberately redirecting DNS queries for some domains, such as search engines. Do not tolerate this practice. If your ISP is doing it, then you should demand that the redirection be stopped, or else switch to another ISP.
Some ISP's have been said to route all DNS queries to their own name servers, regardless of where the queries were directed—another intolerable practice. I haven't heard that any commercial ISP is now doing this, but if yours is, you won't be able to use a public DNS service, even if you change the network settings on your computer or router.
Of course, if your Internet access is provided by an employer or institution, rather than by a commercial ISP, then you have to take whatever you get.
The claims on the OpenDNS website that it blocks malware attacks such as "Flashback" are false advertising. A DNS service does not and cannot block anything. All it can do is to selectively refuse to answer queries. It's trivial for a malware attacker to evade such controls. It's just as easy to evade the parental controls offered by OpenDNS. Nevertheless, you may find those control features useful, despite their limitations. Here is an example of an ASC user who had undesirable results from OpenDNS content filtering.
There is one limited exception to the rule that OpenDNS and Google DNS don't improve performance. The "prefetching" performed by modern web browsers, including Safari, may confuse some DNS servers, with the effects described in this Apple Support article. The article suggests testing OpenDNS, Google DNS, or another third-party DNS service as a possible way to overcome the problem.
If you need to switch DNS providers because of a misconfiguration of your ISP's servers, the change will most likely only need to be temporary. The problem may be resolved automatically within a matter of hours.
If you're considering whether to use public DNS, such as OpenDNS, on a long-term basis, you should take into account the privacy implications. As a user of the free service, you are not an OpenDNS customer, and the service provider—a for-profit corporation—doesn't have a contract with you. The marketers to whom OpenDNS sells access and information are its customers.
OpenDNS will know, and store, the address of every Internet server you use from now on. This is from its privacy policy:
When you use our Services, OpenDNS stores certain DNS, IP address and related information about you to improve the quality of our Service, to provide you with Services and for internal business and analysis purposes.
Concerning personal information, the policy states:
...[I]t is disclosed to entities that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other entities with whom we have joint marketing agreements...
You can't opt out of those disclosures. Read the privacy policy carefully and draw your own conclusions. The privacy policy of Google DNS seems to be somewhat more benign, but again, you should judge for yourself.
That's not the worst of it, though. The practice of hijacking nonexistent domains followed by most public DNS services could result in leaking confidential information to a hacker:
For example, consider the "same origin trust model" used for Web cookies. If you're holding a cookie for GOOGLE.COM and you can be fooled into following a link to KJHSDFKJHSKJHMJHER.GOOGLE.COM, and the resulting NXDOMAIN response is remapped into a positive answer to some advertising server, then you're going to send your cookie to that advertising server when you send your HTTP GET request there. Not such a bad thing for a GOOGLE.COM cookie, but a real problem for a BANKOFAMERICA.COM cookie.
NXDOMAIN remapping is not something that only happens when you randomly mistype a domain name.  It can be exploited deliberately by malicious links placed on any web page. In the case of OpenDNS, the result would be that a cookie intended for another server would be sent to the OpenDNS web server instead. A rogue OpenDNS employee, or anyone who managed to break into the web server, might then be able to impersonate you on another website. If this scenario seems far-fetched, it's the stuff that network exploits are made of.
See also a brief, and somewhat outdated, critique of OpenDNS on a Harvard Law School blog, with a response from the company's founder.

  • Can you please take a look at my TM Buddy log and opine on what the problem is?

    Pondini,
Can you please take a look at my TM Buddy log and opine on what the problem is?  I'm stuck in the "Preparing Backup" phase for what must be hours now.  My last successful backup was this morning at 7:16 am.  I did do a series of Software Update this morning, one of which, a security update I believe, required a restart.
I'm confused as to what the issue is, and how to get everything back to "it just works".
    Many thanks in advance.

Time Machine can't read some data it needs from your backups (each of those date-stamps is one of your backups).
That's usually a problem with the drive itself, but could be the directory on it. First be sure all plugs are snug and secure, then see if you can repair it, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
If that doesn't help, post back with the results.  Also either tell us what kind of Mac you have, what version of OSX you're running, or post that to your Profile, so it's accessible.
This is unrelated to the original post here, so I'm going to ask the Hosts to split it off into a new thread.  Since you've posted in the Lion forum, I'll assume that's what you're running.  You should get a notice from them

  • Crash Restarts - Varying Opinions from Genius Bar

I'm experiencing intermittent Restarts and have been in to the Genius Bars several times and get different opinions on the issue. I've been told my hard drive was going, so I relaced it. Didn't fix it. I was then told it was a software issue caused by Dropbox, so I totally uninstalled it. Didn't help.
I was also told that my video card might be the problem by one Genius Bar (haven't replaced this yet), but another Bar insisted it was software. I don't know who to believe or what to do to fix it.
I've brought in to a Genius Bar print outs of my logs and also my Mac Pro another time and they ran tests to push my computer and that's when I was told my drive and possibly my video card were a problem, but at this time software was not said to be the issue. I got that diagnosis after replacing my hard drive.
Here is the crash log from the Restart that just happened a little while ago, followed by data from my Kernal Log and System Log from the Console. If anyone can give me insight into what the issue is I would be completely grateful...

I just had a kernal panic this time and while I don't know how to read these reports, I do see Geforce mentioned and wonder if I need to replace my video card as one of the Genius Bar reps said.
Grant. When my Mac Pro restarted to which you were replying to, I was in the middle of using DiskWarrior to rebuild my Backup drive. That's probably what the "alsoft" reference refers to.
Regarding Parallels and USB. Could you help me understand what your observation means? I haven't launched Parallels in a year so I really could uninstall it. I rarely need to do any Windows work.
Also do you have any insight into what the USB issues are and what I should do to resolve them?
Here is the crash report from the Kernal Panic I just experienced:
Thanks so much for any insight into what I need to do to rectify this/these problems.
    Best,
    Steven

    Oi,

  • Aggregates, VLAN's, Jumbo-Frames and cluster interconnect opinions

    Hi All,
I'm reviewing my options for a new cluster configuration and would like the opinions of people with more expertise than myself out there.
What I have in mind as follows:
    2 x X4170 servers with 8 x NIC's in each.
On each 4170 I was going to configure 2 aggregates with 3 nics in each aggregate as follows
    igb0 device in aggr1
    igb1 device in aggr1
    igb2 device in aggr1
igb3 stand-alone device for iSCSI network
    e1000g0 device in aggr2
    e1000g1 device in aggr2
    e1000g2 device in aggr3
e1000g3 stand-alone device of iSCSI network
Now, on top of these aggregates, I was planning on creating VLAN interfaces which will allow me to connect to our two "public" network segments and for the cluster heartbeat network.
I was then going to configure the vlan's in an IPMP group for failover. I know there are some questions around that configuration in the sense that IPMP will not detect a nic failure if a NIC goes offline in the aggregate, but I could monitor that in a different manner.
At this point, my questions are:
[1] Are vlan's, on top of aggregates, supported withing Solaris Cluster? I've not seen anything in the documentation to mention that it is, or is not for that matter. I see that vlan's are supported, inluding support for cluster interconnects over vlan's.
Now with the standalone interface I want to enable jumbo frames, but I've noticed that the igb.conf file has a global setting for all nic ports, whereas I can enable it for a single nic port in the e1000g.conf kernel driver. My questions are as follows:
[2] What is the general feeling with mixing mtu sizes on the same lan/vlan? Ive seen some comments that this is not a good idea, and some say that it doesnt cause a problem.
[3] If the underlying nic, igb0-2 (aggr1) for example, has 9k mtu enabled, I can force the mtu size (1500) for "normal" networks on the vlan interfaces pointing to my "public" network and cluster interconnect vlan. Does anyone have experience of this causing any issues?
Thanks in advance for all comments/suggestions.

For 1) the question is really "Do I need to enable Jumbo Frames if I don't want to use them (neither public nore private network)" - the answer is no.
For 2) each cluster needs to have its own seperate set of VLANs.

  • Opinions on implementing a JAAS login module to achieve SSO

We are looking at implementing SSO from a sharepoint website to the portal.  The users who are accessing the Sharepoint site are using their own computers and are not members of the AD Domain, so they could theoretically be using any computer in the world to access Sharepoint.
the desired user experience looks something like this.
    user--login> sharepoint site -no login--
    >portal
One of the methods we are looking at to achieve this is to implement a custom JAAS login module that would authenticate the user if they are coming from the Sharepoint site.
I would like to get your opinions on how viable you think this method is.  One of the goals of this method is ease of implementation, so if you can think of an easier way to implement this please let us know.
    the method is basically this.
    1. User logs into sharepoint using their AD username and password and establish an active session with sharepoint
    2. user navigates to a link in sharepoint that points to a resource in the SAP Portal
    3. we don't want the user to have to login to access the resource when they click on the link
    4. to facilitate this, sharepoint has constructed the link in the following way
    5. the link is an https link
    6. the link has two additional parameters in addition to whatever is necessary to navigate to the resource
    7. the parameters are
    8. un = the users AD username
    9. uh = sha1("secret_password_known_to_both_the_login_module_and_sharepoint" + "username")
    10. the user clicks the link and is directed to the SAP portal
    11. the sap portal has a custom JAAS login module which performs it's checks before the other login modules
    12. the custom module computes ( sha1("secret_password_known_to_both_the_login_module_and_sharepoint" + un)) and then compares the result with uh, if they are equal, the custom login module authenticates the user bypassing any further need for authentication, otherwise authentication passes to the original authentication modules as normal.
If you think there is an easier way, please let us know.  We are essentially looking for the easiest/fastest way to implement this functionality that is still secure.

    Hey Gary,
I'm currently using Apache running on RedHat that leverage Apache's mod_rewrite module. I've got a bank of 6 reverse proxies sitting in front of an SAP Portal and each proxy runs on a host with dual 3.33GHz processors and 8Gb or RAM. I know... they're waaay over-sized and they pretty much snooze all day.
This is the sole entry point for all SAP users and we sized them to accommodate the "worst case" of about 5000 (potential) named users, concurrently. Realistically, we've only ever had about 1500 unique users hitting the systems in a day (following an upgrade go-live, everybody is curious and wants to log on) and a typical load of about 500 to 750 users in a day.
Never had a real performance problem to speak of. As long as the proxies are tuned properly (ssl cache, sessions, etc.), you should be fine.
Setting header variables and some other "custom stuff" is handled in Perl (need Apache's mod_perl active). We've got a script that's called by all users before being passed to the Portal.
We used IISProxy.dll with an IIS web server a long time ago (5 years maybe?) but opted to can it in favor of the approach described above.
If you ask SAP, they'll recommend you use a WebDispatcher... and that's certainly an option as well.

  • New to forum and opinions on the Lenovo T420 being my first Lenovo Thinkpad?

First off thanks for letting me join.  Just wanted to get some opinions from some of the more experienced Lenovo owners and users.  I want to pick up the T420 as my first Lenovo Thinkpad.  What is the overall verdict on this laptop (Good build quality, reliability issues, or anything else I should be aware of)?  I use to own a IBM Thinkpad and just missed the overall layout of the Thinkpad specific look and functionality.  To date, the IBM Thinkpad has been my favorite Windows based laptop.  Any and all opinions would be deeply appreciated.
    May God bless!
    Ed

I've only had my T420 for a couple of weeks but so far I really like it.  I reminds me of a mini version of the W520.  My T420 has the i7 processor, NVIDIA Optimus and most of the options.  I upgraded the RAM to 16GB and currently have the Intel Series 510 120GB SSD in the primary bay.  I am waiting for a Samsung Series 830 SSD to arrive.
No complaints so far.  It runs nice, quiet and cool.
If I were going to improve anthing on the machine, it would be the screen.  The 1600x900 AUO screen on mine is fair but I can live with it.  I bought this machine new on eBay for an excellent price.
I am using the 6 cell battery right now and get a little over four hours of battery life. The 9 cell is quite a bit better but I like the flush lighter 6 cell.
Love the keyboard.  The trackpad is fair but I haven't tweaked the Ultranav settings yet.  Been using a mouse mose of the time.
I have several ThinkPads and I think the T420 is an excellent balance of power and features.  I am comparing it to my X301, T410s, T61p and W510.  I added a 34mm USB 3.0 ExpressCard (still testing).
After my experience with the W520 random shutdowns, I won't be totally comfortable with this machine for a couple of months but it's looking really good so far.  I am optimistic.

  • Neo 2 865PE Setup Options-Opinions Wanted

Hi, I finally got my new PC set up and I have some setup questions I'd like to get some opinions on:
    1) My Hard drive is an ATA133 from Maxtor. Is it better for me to use the IDE1 slot or the Promise IDE3 slot? If I use the IDE3 slot, I will be able to run all of my IDE using peripherals as masters and I wont have to slave anything.
    2) Sound- Is the onboard sound better then a Creative Labs Soundblaster Live card?
    3) Bios Settings....what are the best performance settings I should use considering the following hardware:
    - MSI Neo 2 FISR 865PE Motherboar
    - 2.6GHZ 800FSB P4 CPU
    - two 256MB Giel 533MHZ PC4000 RAM (512MB total)
    - Gainward Ti4200 G4 128 MB "golden sample" video card.
I read in Toms Hardware in this article that I should be able to Overclock the BUS  to 900 and perhaps 1000 with a setup like the one I have...the only major difference is that I got 512MB of RAM where in the article he uses 1000 MB of RAM.
    http://www.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20030812/index.html
Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

There'll be no difference of ATA100 and ATA133, the speed is not easy or almost impossible to be detected on daily usage.
I'm pretty happy with my NEO2's onboard AC97' chip, it delivers good quality sound for average users like me, regardless in terms of gaming, musics or movies. Unless you want very high quality sound likewise DTS, THX or doing music ripping, then you may need a better sound card like Audigy 2.
Your setup is ok, but be very careful with your RAMs as the NEOs are not yet very stable at support RAMs of more than 400MHz in speed, during the setups, if you're encountering instabilities, I'll recommend you to lower your RAMs speed to 400MHz and lower all latencies and increase the RAMs Voltage to 2.7v, set AGP/PCI Freq to 67.01/33.50Mhz.

  • Difference on KE33 and Line item/summarization

    Experts,
    please help me.
We have cost based COPA report. Where the rows are defined as distribution channel (by type of sales, example whole sale, retail, inter-company etc) which is a characteristic and the columns are value fields (Gross rev, QTY etc).
We also have user defined characteristics for PH Product Hierarchy category which is linked to MVKE- PRODH.
A summarization level is defined @ Product hierarchy category and with other values.
Now my problem is, when I ran the KE33/KE30 report the gross value is less than the line item (this is when I navigate to line item from the ke33).  The difference is at product hierarchy level.  Now I have document level details only at line item level. But, I only have total from ke33.  I tried accessing CE3XXXX table. But, couldn't find a reason for the difference. I verified the currency also.
Please help me in finding the difference.

The Gross rev/gross billing column is keyfigure value field where a forula is defined in keyfigure scheme.  The formula is not working.

  • How to summarize Open sales order credit value

    Hi, friends.
I am designing Add-on report about credit exposure.
I found the relevant tables of Credit Limit in FD32
    KNKK
    S066
    S067
Then, I would like to show the document details of open sales order credit value in the report.
I tried to summarize the open sales order amount from VBAK, VAUK, VBAP, VBUP.
However, it doest match to the amount in S066 table.
Can anyone tell us how to summarize Open sales order credit value from SD documents?
    Regards,
    Yu

    Sudheer,
You need to check the update rule given in the definition of the Credit control Area which you are using for credit management. If you want only the open deliveries then you need to have update rule 15 in the credit control area.
In the credit controal settings, you need to have settings for the credit check at the delivery level.
Hope this will solve your issue.
    Regards,
    Chetan

  • How to create a report and summarize some columns per page

    Hi all,
I need to create a HTML report using the OA Framework Extension and it needs summarize some values columns highlighted similar to what can be done when using Report6i. Is there some class or package or a region or page's parameter that permits me to do that?
I also thought to summarize the values and put them in a table with a column saying that the line is a simple value or a summary and just put those values in html table. My problem still how to hightlight the html table line when the value "summary" is being fetched.
    Any suggestion????
    Thanks in Advance!!!

Essentially you want to write a pl/sql function which returns a varchar2 string. The contents of the string must be a valid sql statement.
Once you have done this, you need to add a report region as type sql report and you will have the option of writing it as a query or as a function returning query. Choose function returning query and enter in the function call.
Note your function must be valid, and must be executable by your apex parsing schema.
    example:
    create or replace
    function test_report(   p1_tablename       in varchar2)
    return varchar2
    is
    v_query varchar2(4000);
    begin
    v_query  :=
    'SELECT * from '||p_tablename;
    return v_query;
end test_report;Edited by: Keith Jamieson on Aug 15, 2011 4:50 PM

IPad 1 Safari crashes frequently. I went to many Apple stores in different countries and each Apple staff member had their own different opinions with no help. I had upgraded my iOS to 5.1.1 and the Safari crashing started about one year after the upgrade and some Apple staff blame this- but this started one year later after the iOS upgrade. Recently at the Apple Store in Vancouver an Apple staff reset my computer (erased everything and sent to iCloud to reset the iPad) and I hoped this would fix the problem. IPad Safari still crashes. Short of booking an appointment for taking it for repair to Apple technicians which will cost me money can anyone help me to fix this Safari crashing.

    Hi,
You might have a 3rd party plugin that isn't compatible with Safari 4.0.4. Go here for help...
Safari add-ons can cause performance issues or other situations
If you are using a USB hub, try disconnecting and restarting with just your keyboard and mouse connected.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Mac OS: Web Browser Quits Unexpectedly or Stops Responding
Also, you could download and install the 10.5.8 combo update (PowerPC) available here.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_8_ComboUpdate
It contains fixes that might help. Then repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Photos Year Overview does not always summarize geographic locations

    Hello,
This has been bugging me for a while now. I have searched for similar questions in this forum but haven't found a thread that treats the same issue, so here we go.
In the year overview, in the standard IOS Photos app (completely zoomed out), not all the years are giving me a nice summarization of the geographic locations of my photos. As you can see in the screenshot attached, the first couple of years are showing just fine, but 2012, 2013 and 2014 aren't. No summarization of locations is showing and  therefore I cannot view that particular year on the map.
Now, when I zoom in, almost all photos actually do have a geotag, some don't, but that isn't any different than in the years where locations are showing fine in the overview. I think in all the years about 98% of the photos do have a geotag, as I took all my photos with my iPhone. Oh, and the problem is similar on all my iOS devices.
I have no clue on what is going wrong. I already regretted that Apple removed the complete geographical overview map for all photos, but now individual years aren't even working.
I hope someone can help me. Thanks!
