Fiber Patch cord bewteen X2-10GB-SR and SFP-10G-SR

I would like to know which patch cord should I be using between X2-10GB-SR and SFP-10G-SR. The mention of part no would be very helpful.
Thank You

Thanks Sulaiman for the correction. I should not have relied purely on memory as it has potential of failing :-).

  • Fiber Cable to interface between Xenpax-10gb-lr++ and sfp-10g-sr=

I'm extending our network via 10gb fiber to the another building.  The 6509E has the XENPAK-10GGB-LR+= which is rated for SMF, 1310-nm wavelength, with SC duplex connector.  The other end 4500X has an SFP-10G-SR= that is rated for MMF, 850-nm wavelength with LC duplex connector.  Between both sites there will be a SMF cable via G.652 (1310-1550nm) which will be terminated at both end via ST connectors in there respective Fiber distribution boxes.  Question, since the SFP-10G-SR= that is ONLY rated for MMF 850-nm wavelength, will this pose any issue?  Can you give suggestions on what type patch cables to use?  Thanks

"Between both sites there will be a SMF cable via G.652 (1310-1550nm) which will be terminated at both end via ST connectors in there respective Fiber distribution boxes"
Since you have G 652 SMF you can't use SFP-10G-SR MMF as other's wrote earlier. You need to buy new  1310 SFP i.e you neeed
    Cisco SFP-10G-LR
The Cisco 10GBASE-LR Module supports a link length of 10 kilometers on standard single-mode fiber (SMF, G.652).
For 4500X you need  you need LC-ST patch cable.

  • Connection of LC/APC fiber patch cords to Cisco Catalyst 6500 $ Cisco Access 3750 Switches

I have an LC/APC fiber patch cord infrastructure and I want to connect it to Cisco Catalyst 6500 & Cisco Access 3750 Switches. what type of transceiver should be used?
I read a note on Cisco website stating the following for Cisco SFP+ transceivers:
Note: "Only connections with patch cords with PC or UPC connectors are supported. Patch cords with APC connectors are not supported. All cables and cable assemblies used must be compliant with the standards specified in the standards section"

Thank you,  but my question is that I have a single mode fiber patch cord with LC/APC connector while cisco stating a note that only use LC/PC or LC/UPC type of connectors with SFP+ transceiver.
So what type of transceiver should I use to connect LC/APC patch cord to cisco switches?  Is there another type or SFP+ still can be used?

  • Cisco 4900M integrated X2 ports, CVR-X2-SFP10G and SFP-10G-SR

    Hi,
We are going to order two(2) cisco 4900M switches for core and twelve (12) 2960S switches for access (4 stacks with 3 switches each), connected to the core with 10G MM optical paths (up to 300M each).  In addition I have one gigabit half-card but it is not related to my questions here. Please see my attached diagram.
    So my questions are:
    1. Point 1.Can we use integrated eight X2 ports of every of the both 4900M switches as plugging into four of them four convertors CVR-X2-SFP10G and to plug on every of the convertors sfp tranceivers SFP-10G-SR - as it is described on the diagram, or I need for something more in addition to described? I found only some minimum soft releases to use as requirement to use these convertors and sfp tranceivers, but is there something additional I need?
Note:I'm asking that because Dynamic Conf Tool doesn't give me to do such configuration, actually these convertors and SFPs are missing there at all, but it sometimes happens with some products...  In documentation it is described this should work (if I didn't pass something which is my main consern and why I'm asking here).
2.Point 3.If this shouldn't work, the other alternative (not described in my diagram) is to use X2-10GB-SR modules without any SFPs - just ot use SC connectors for the optical cables instead of LC. So my question in that case is will 10G links work between X2-10GB-SR at one side and SFP-10G-SR at the other side where I have 2960S switches and this is the only option? Is is expected to have some problems in that scenario?
Note:Actually if Point 1 is workable I prefer to use it instead of Point 2 because of minor price optimization when using SFPs with convertors in comparisson to X2-10GB-SR.
    3. If the both variants are possible, which one is preffered and why, what advantages does it have (for example low latency of something else)?
    Thank You in Advance
    Asen

Just for your information, a fiber link does not care if one end of the fiber has an GBIC (SC-type connector) and the other end has a SFP (LC-type of connector); or any other transceiver footprint (X2, CFP, etc.)..  The thing that is important is that each module is the same specification, and matches the fiber type and link length of the network (10GBASE-SX in this example).
    Good luck.

  • X2-10GB-LRM to SFP-10G-SR= Compatibility

    Hi,
Can you help me in this ?
    I have two 10Gig modules.
    On 6500, i have X2-10GB-LRM  and on 3750-x i have SFP-10G-SR= .
you can use it with fiber cable and patch cord to connect the two devices?

    Hello,
SFP-10G-SR is a MMF and it uses a LC duplex connector.
X2-10GB-LRM is also a MMF and it uses LC duplex connector.
    so they are compatible.

  • X2-10G-LX4 and SFP-10G-SR

    Hi
    Issue 1
I have a 6506-E with WS-X6708-10Gig Modules and i have installed X2-10G-LX4 transceiver on them, on the other side i have a UCS 6120 and installed a SFP-10G-SR.
The link between the 2 does not come up,  what could be the reason for that? The distance between the 2 is 10 meters and i have already tried changing the cables.
    Issue 2
If i connect the WS-X6708-10Gid module with X2-10GB-LR module and connect it to X2-10GB-LR on another 6506-E, the link comes up. that means there is no problem with the Module or the ios on the switch.
but if connect X2-10GB-LX4 on 6506-E and X2-10GB-LX4 on the other side, the link does not come up. Any clue what could be the reason ? I have already tried changing the transceiver.
    Can someone please help ?

You have got answer for first issue that LX4 cannot work with SR. By the way what kind of fiber you have Single Mode/Multimode?
    second issue,
If your X2-10GB-LRmodule have worked then i can assume that you have single mode fiber for testing as LR is only for Single mode fiber .
LX4 is only made for Multimode fiber and it is not going to work on single mode fiber no matter what you try (as you are saying link is not comming up).
Cisco X2-10GB-LRM is the only module which can work for Single mode and Multimode (ofcourse you need Mode conditioning patchchord )

  • X2-10GB-LRM and Fiber Optical Compability

    Hello All,
I have a Fiber Optical Cable with the following reference:
    - FILOTEX FUMAY TS 06-E-F-6-62.5
I know that it a cable with a core pf 62,5 nm and a 6 pair cable.
I want to intall 2 equipments on both end to pass 10GB with the X2-10GB-LRM.
Does anyone knows the characteristics of this cable ? I could not search nothing in the internet.
    Best Regards,
    Bruno Petrónio

I do not have any information on the fiber you are asking about.  However, it is most likely FDDI grade or OM1.  For either of these you will need the mode conditioning patch cord described below and in the bulletin (follow the link).
    Cisco X2-10GB-LRM
The  Cisco 10GBASE-LRM Module supports link lengths of 220m on standard  Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) grade multimode fiber (MMF). To  ensure that specifications are met over FDDI-grade, OM1 and OM2 fibers,  the transmitter should be coupled through a mode conditioning patch  cord. No mode conditioning patch cord is required for applications over  OM3. For additional information on mode conditioning patch cord  requirements please see: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/modules/ps5455/product_bulletin_c25-530836.html.

  • XENPAK-10GB-LX4 and X2-10GB-SR

Hi all, has anyone connected a FO using 10GB-SR and a XENPAK-10GB-LX4 gbic, could we have a problem if we do so for a cable distance of 80 to 120 meters.
    thks in advace.
    Mario

X2-10GB-SR transceiver module for MMF, 850-nm wavelength, SC duplex connector while the 10GBASE-SR X2 transceiver module for MMF, 850-nm wavelength, SC duplex connector supports link lengths of 300m on standard Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) grade multimode fiber (MMF). To ensure that specifications are met, the transmitter output should be coupled through a mode conditioning patch cord. For additional information on mode conditioning patch cord requirements please see: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps5455/product_bulletin_c25-530836.html.

  • Ethernet Cable or Patch Cord for AE?

Do I need an ethernet cable to connect my AE to a cable modem?
I only have a patch cord with me and it's making me nuts that my MacBook Pro works fine hardlined into the cable modem, but the cord doesn't work with the AE.
    Thanks!

Thanks! Then I guess I'm not sure what the problem is.
I've done a factory reset on the AE. It transmits fine and I can set it up and it appears to be connected to my MacBook. Flashing amber light still won't go away.

  • Minimum Fiber Patch Cable Length for MGBSX1

I want to "stack" a couple 300 series gigabit switches with fiber using a pair of MGBSX1 GBICs and a single LC to LC patch cable.
Is there a minimum supported patch cable length in this configuration?

    Howard,
Thank you for posting. You should have no issues using a short fiber patch between the switches. Just make sure the fiber doesn't bend too sharply and get damaged.

You might want to try performing a hard reset of your device; this will restart it and generally clear out any errors, it will not erase any data on your device.
Press and hold both the home button and the lock button (the button on the top right of the iPhone) for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.

I want to use my Mac desktop as a portal for viewing my cable television via some kind of cord. Is this possible and what do I need to set this up?

It can be done with analog but not digital thanks to "good 'ol" HDCP copy protection which apple (and most other manufacturers) unfortunately respect.
So you can take the analog output from your cable box (component -- 5 cables -- if it has it but generally they all have composite -- 3 cables) and feed it into some kind of converter or into some appropriate pci card for your mac pro.  But none of them are going to let you directly use the HDMI output from the box to your computer.
Bottom line, no single cord is going to work and it will never be the higher quality digital picture you get on your tv.
Some qualification:  There are boxes that I think support hdmi input.  Look at Blackmagic.  But I still don't think you can get around the HDCP from the cable box (might depend on the kind of cable box).

I think that we all understood what you meant. If the extension cord is no longer working, then return it.
We are all trying to tell you that you can plug the power block into a standard household extension cord - using the short cord that came with the iPad - and there is no need for the extension cord that you bought.
