Fickering on published SWF file

Hi all, We are publishing a Swf file in Adobe cs3 and it
flickers permanently when opened. What can we do to avoid this?
Please advise.

Does it do that when you test the file or just when actually
publishing?
This happens to me when I have AS errors so test the file and
check the
error output

I am trying to publish .swf files into my website. I have uploaded the files in my idisk in the 'Web' 'Sites' folder where the rest of my website files are held. I have used Roddy's html snippet...

ALWAYS define URLs from --the-- your visitor's browser point of view.
http://idisk.mac.com/username//Web/Sites/flashfiles/filename.swf
should be
http://web.me.com/username/flashfiles/filename.swf

Can we publish swf file made with InDesign in .exe?

I made a SWF file with InDesign. I would like to publish it in .exe? Is it possible?

What version of FlashPro are you using? If you want a self contained app that doesn't load external resources, publish an AIR app, which will work on Windows or OSX. I'm using OSX so I can't really help with .exe projector files, but it looks like the latest version of FlashPro no longer outputs projector files—I think everything is AIR now.
If you really want to go the projector route, I'm guessing Jeffrey Smith's suggestion of finding an older version of Flash Player would be simpler.
So for AIR, set your Publishing target to AIR for Desktop. Then under File>AIR settings:
Output as: Application with runtime embedded
Include files: Add all of your resources—the swf ID generated and it's resource folder
In the Signature tab click New to create a self-signing Certificate (if you were developing commercial software you would need a third party certificate). You can save the certificate anywhere.
When you publish you should find an AIR application file (.app) file in the directory with your .fla

Captivate 1 and publishing SWF files

I have (registered) captivate 1.01 (build 1418 full
version). I have install it on several (3-4) laptops (replacements,
upgrades) and ... now have a client that requires this older
version for development. I can record the move, create exe files. I
can't just publish a swf file. Did I screw up my license somehow?
Do I have a virus? I need to create swf files to import into their
development tool (EEDO). HELP!!!!

If you double-click the icon, does Windows prompt you for
what it should do with the file? If so, try choosing Internet
Explorer and see if it plays.

Animations on Captivate 6 when playing published SWF file

Hi All
I was wondering if someone could help me, I have created some E-learning content which incorporates some simple animation (text animation effects and motion paths on objects). Some of these animations mean that on the screen when I preview in a web browser, that an objects looks as if its coming from outside the canvas onto the canvas. Which is what I want.
However when I publish to SWF its like the boundaries of the screen completely disappear and you can see the object outside the canvas, this doesn't happen in HTML.
The problem I have is that some of the content I have input are not supported in HTML5.... so I really need the animations to work in the SWF file.
Can anyone help or does anyone know what is causing this problem for me?!!!

How to publish swf file as streaming html on LMS?

Hi Folks
When i try to publish a swf file it creates a html file and
works fine. but when its created in the folder. It creates a skin
file, 2 html files and standard file. When i publish it on LMS to
create a streaming flash file nothing is seen. Is there any other
way to publish. It is not a scrom compliant LMS. If that helps.

I think you are probably still seeing the _skin.swf file
because I don't believe that Captivate deletes the files prior to
creating the new ones. So you should probably clear the folder
before publishing again. Once you do that, you should see only
three files.

Concern in published SWF file using Presenter for PPTX

I observed that the PPT files (2003 version) which were published using Presenter 7 were creating a SWF file containing multiple frames. However the PPTX files (2007) which were published using Presenter 7 were creating a SWF file containing single frame. I am wondering how do I access a movieclip containing an animation.

Let me re-phrase.
I am loading the Presenter SWF into my Flash file (controller). Once the file is loaded I am controlling that file; I mean to say, I play/pause or jump to particular frame using the Flash file (Controller). This was working fine when I published PPT files, however when I published the PPTX file I am not getting the expected timeline animation so as to control it.
Now I am wondering how I can control the PPTX published file using my controller.
I will grateful, if someone helps me to solve this issue.

Black screen when transition slides in published SWF file

Hi there
I have published a SWF file and when viewing it in IE, after a couple of slide transition, there is a particular slide that goes black. I checked the slide properties within captivate and there is no transition associated with it. Does anyone know what went wrong?

Does it happen with everything or just some content? Could be an odd HDCP issue if you have a Mini or Mac Pro with separate monitor.
I've seen occasional reports of some protected video not playing on computers due to HDCP issues.

Published SWF File out of Captivate opens in Browser

I have a SWF created in Captivate. Inside the published
Captivate file is a link to open another SWF file.
The original SWF file opens in Flash Player, but when I
access the button to open the other SWF file, that SWF file opens
in my browser.
Can anyone explain to me why this is happening?

you either didn't clear your cache or you uploaded your html and/or swf to the wrong location. retry.

Errors when trying to publish SWF File

I have a Flash file that I created in Flash 4 I believe...Now I am trying to edit it with Flash Professional CC. Well, when I make the slightest change and hit:
File, Publish settings, review the options, then click ok nothing happens. However, if I hit File, Publish, the bar goes to about 44% and I get the following errors:
THen the SWF file shows the changes, but is erratic and keeps rapidly cycling on and off. Can anyone help???

Flash CC does not support AS1/AS2 publishing. You'll need to use Flash Pro CS6 or earlier. If you subscribe to the Cloud I believe CS6 is available with it.

Published Swf file flickers. Why?

Basically at the moment we have a website called
projectionpictures.com (take a look). At the moment we are trying
to do a few small changes. However when we import the file that
generates all the layers and then try to export to see if it will
display in exactly the same way before we start to adjust it. The
exported .swf file strobes and it doesn't display the website to
its full size as we would need.
1) why does it strobe ?

Published .swf Files ignore my AS Code

I've been working on s project for a week or so, testing it with Ctrl+Enter in Flash and I got it working just fine. Tonight, for the first time, I tested it by just running the .swf file and none of the ActionScript works...primarily, the stop() command on the first frame, it just blows through my whole movie as if there's not a lick of code there.
I went back in Flash and tested it there with Ctrl+Enter and voilla...no problem.
Odd...
So I opened a brand new Flash file. A plain document. I put a keyframe on 40, then put a keyframe on 30 and put some plain text on the stage "this is some text"
I tested the movie, with Ctrl+Enter and, as expected, for awhile I saw nothing then "this is some text" appeared, then the movie got to the end and restarted.
So far so good.
I put a "stop()" in the first keyframe of the movie. Ctrl+Enter to test it. Nothing happened. The movie was stopped.
Cool, so I published the .swf file. When running the .swf the "this is some text" text did appear and the movie played as normal, COMPLETELY IGNORING MY CODE.
WFT? I've checked my publish settings, I am publishing AS 3.0 and this is CS4 that I'm using. Any help?

Hi kglad. The issue is more in AIR. When testing the .fla file in Flash Professional (CTRL + Enter), the file works as expected. However, if I publish the file using default settings in AIR, the stage just immediately begins flickering. I've upload the file to the following location.

Publishing swf file with xml feed

I am working in actionscript 3 trying to create a flash banner ad that will be put on multiple sites. The ad will grab a rss feed and display a number from that feed insie the banner ad. The Flash file works fine on my local computer when I test it. The feed is showing up just fine in the ad. When I publish the ad for the web and test it out on my server, the feed does not display in the ad. I have checked to make sure network access is selected in the publish settings. I also have a crossdomain.xml policy file on the server with the feed. My server is listed in the policy to allow access. I keep thinking I am overlooking something, but can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BitmapData draw method doesn't work when the project is published as the .swf file of the web applic

        I am totally confused by this strange error. When I tried using the draw method of BitmapData to draw a movieclip symbol of my project, it seems to work fine locally. However, as I uploaded the published .swf file to my web server and launched it as the plugin of my web application, it failed. The source codes as follows,

My real purpose in this application is to capture a snapshot of a streaming video. The video is contained in a movieclip object. I tried stage first since BirmapData.draw() doesn't work when drawing the movieclip on the web site. Do you have any suggestion for this situation? Also, is there any good method to find out what happened if the browser have "Uncaught Error: Error calling method on NPObject."?

Problem: text fade in/out in swf-file not working correctly

Hello to all,
this is my first post.
I work in a printing company and we want to administrate now our website by our own and
we have bought now Dreamweaver CS4 and Flash CS4 for Mac. My Flash skill-level is "Beginner",
but I am OK with simple tweenings, using symbols and that.
I have done an advertisment banner for the home, 550x290 px, background-pictures
and headlines fading in and out, later until the end there are three subheadlines for pricing details.
The published swf-file works absolutely fine on my Mac, and also
embedded in the site in Safari and Opera.
Before uploading I wanted to check in IE and Opera on a Windows-PC
and now there is the problem:
the first headline does not fade in, it suddenly just appears.
The second headline fades in the place of the first, when the first one is
fading out. So now, for a second the text is appearing above each other and
both neither fade in nor fade out.
The three subheadlines later start one by one, and they work fine and fade in
and out correctly. All pictures fade in and out correctly, too.
What could that be?
I`ve just installed the newest flash-player on the Windows-PC and
the problem is still there when I open the swf-file or when I embed it in the website.
I would be deeply grateful for any hint.

Hi!
The difference was, the headline property was accidentally "dynamic text", the subheadlines were static.
I missed that.
Before changing that now in the fla-file I checked the old one on differrent company macs,
the problem is only one a few macs, say one of ten had the problem I watched.
I think now, that must be just bad luck or it is a player problem.
Allow me the question please:
should I use dynamic text or static (then I cannot embed the font, the option dispappears then
in the Properties-panel).
