Field calculation doesn't auto update

Hello -
I have a complicated PDF Form that has several pages of fields that are totaled and averaged on the last page. I'm using Acrobat X on the Mac.
Basically, on the last page there are 2 subtotal fields that are calculated based on other (direct-entry) numeric fields in the document. Those 2 SUBTOTAL fields update automatically when I change the direct-entry fields. So far so good.
But, then I have a FINAL AVERAGE field that is supposed to average the two subtotals. But when I update one of the direct-entry values, the subtotals update but the final average does not.
Here's where it gets screwy:
If I try to manually enter a valid number (validation is OK from 0-3) in one of the SUBTOTALs, the subtotal does not change but this forces the FINAL AVERAGE field to update correctly.
If I try to manually enter an invalid # (such as 5) in either of the 2 SUBTOTAL fields Acrobat won't let me enter that number, but it WILL recalculate the final average using that number and give me the wrong answer.
I have tried locking the fields, turning validation on and off, but neither has any effect.
I'm using the AVERAGE calculation function. I wonder if the problem is that I'm averaging a field that is itself using the Average calculation.
There are only 2 fields being averaged. I could just add them and divide by 2, but that is not an option in the field calculation, unless I write a javascript, which I haven't learned how to do yet. So, I can't tell whether that would fix the problem. Is there a way to write a custom calculation formula other than using javascript?

The field calculation order is most likely not correct. You just have to set the order to whatever makes sense for your form.
To do this in Acrobat 10, go to form editing mode (Tools > Forms > Edit) , and then select: Tasks > Other Tasks > Edit Fields > Set Field Calculation Order

Clicking the "Preview" checkbox doesn't Auto-Update

Hello,
Been searching for a few days and haven't found anything on this subject.
When using any of the Transform functions and clicking the "preview" checkbox at the bottom to see what your change would look like doesn't auto-update itself. You have to click it again, so it turns off, and in the interim, it shows a blip of what it would look like. Then, reclick it and you can now see your potential result.
Is this a known issue? I am using Photoshop CC on Mavericks.

Update never completes - always "connecting to update server" I can do manual update but why doesn't auto-update work?

I have this same problem with three machines (all linux - different versions of linux & firefox). Yes, I could do a manual update. But, I would like to get the issue with auto-update sorted out. I have a common network setup: private IP (192.168.15.xxx) on a router connected to COMCAST. There is a firewall but no proxy.

Thanks cor-el! Your question about how it was installed was spot on. It was installed as root (I always do that for an app like Firefox so that it is available to all users. That is also the default when installing apps with yum or other package managers). The solution is to run firefox as root (''kdesu firefox'') so that it has access to the installation folder for writing. I selected Help -> about firefox and it updated right away.
The error for the mozilla people is in not detecting and either handling (asking for root privileges) or reporting the problem instead of hanging up in an infinite loop.

Pre-Installed Skype App doesn't auto update

It's not the desktop client, but its the preinstalled app. I usually would click on it and it would load skype (latest update0, but with this new update when I click Skype after clicking the windows button, it says that I need to update to the new skype that we're currently on. How do I fix this? I'm tired of having to come to the website, and re-download the Skype app, when I already have it pre-installed.

Web Views Still Don't Auto Update in Keynote '08

So much to my disappointment, the web view feature still doesn't auto update in a self-running presentation. The web views still only update when you first open the document, and then not until you close it and re-open it again.
We have a kiosk at our company that shows slides with websites that have information that change during the day. Unfortunately it only shows the website's state as of when the document was opened, but it doesn't update as the presentation runs throughout the day.
Dang!!! I thought they were going to fix this.

It looks like this is an "as designed" feature. It updates the web view when the presentation launches, but won't do it each time it cycles through.

Why doesn't Firefox auto-update Flash Player like Chrome does?

For security reasons and less hassle, I like Chrome auto-updates Flash Player. Why doesn't Firefox do this?

Google Chrome has it's own version of the Flash plugin that is apart of the Google Chrome installation files.<br />
So Google needs to do a full update with every Flash release.
Firefox uses the Flash plugin as installed in your Linux distribution,<br />
If your Ubuntu Linux distribution doesn't have an automatic update for Flash then you need to do that manually.

Why doesn't the auto update to my Firefox always hang up when it is checking compatiblily with my addons?

Towards the end of an automatic Firefox update, the program opens a dialogue box that says it's checking compatibility of the new version with my addons. It also mentions that I should be patient, that the process could take several minutes. The process continues without normal termination, and I have to use Windows Task Manager to stop it. I've let it run form as long as 35 minutes, but it never completes the process. This has happened for each of the last 3 or 4 auto updates. What's going on?

WebStart app doesn't run after JRE auto-update

Our JNLP-deployed app doesn't start if the JRE is auto-updated as part of the WebStart download. The JRE update completes successfully but the app doesn't start and the desktop shortcuts created by WebStart don't work (the path to the webstart app in the shortcuts appears to be invalid). The user has to go back to the webpage and click the link to the app's JNLP file again, then the shortcuts will have the correct path and the app will start.
Currently, our app requires JRE 1.5.0, so typically the update is going from 1.4.2 to 1.5.0. As a test, I tried starting with 1.5.0 installed and having the app require 1.6.0 and everything works perfectly, the JRE gets auto-updated, desktop shortcuts are valid and our app starts immediately afterwards.
This problem occurs whether the new JRE is auto-updated directly from Sun or from our own server (we're using the JREInstaller from the 1.5.0 JDK samples).
Any idea what the problem is and how to correct it?

3109c - date auto-update doesn't

Another newbie question: When I first got this phone, auto-update was on, but the date/time was wrong. I had to disable auto-update to set the correct date/time, then re-enabled auto-update.
I just noticed that the time is OK, but the date is 08-08-2008. I suppose it might be something to do with messing around with PC sync, or something else? /discussions/board/message?board.id=pcsuite&thread.id=23658

It works by getting time signals from the network but not all networks support this feature properly.
If it doesn't work make sure it's set to off to avoid problems.

Disabling auto-update doesn't work

I need to stop at Firefox 14 for now, and need to prevent auto-updates.
In Firefox 14.0.1 when I disable auto-update by setting 'never check for updates', and/or use about:config to clear 'app.update.url', both settings are ignored. When I close and re-open Firefox, auto-update is again enabled, and the update URL is again set.
Recommendations?

As it turns out, it's not a matter of 'preferences not being saved'.
It's Firefox spontaneously changing my preferences at start-time.
I've been testing; here's what i discover.
1. I install FF14, start it the first time, and disable auto-update (via Tools/Options/Advanced)
At this point - prefs.js in my profile now starts with
user_pref("app.update.auto", false);
user_pref("app.update.enabled", false);
2. now I exit FF.
prefs.js in my profile STILL starts with
user_pref("app.update.auto", false);
user_pref("app.update.enabled", false);
3. i restart FF (#1)
prefs.js in my profile STILL starts with
user_pref("app.update.auto", false);
user_pref("app.update.enabled", false);
4. i close FF
prefs.js in my profile STILL starts with
user_pref("app.update.auto", false);
user_pref("app.update.enabled", false);
5. I restart FF (#2)
NOW prefs.js has dropped those 2 initial lines, and starts with user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.addon-........etc
Firefox is spontaneously changing my prefs.js.
Before this series of tests I adjusted the prefs.js in all other profiles in this XPSP3 machine to start with
user_pref("app.update.auto", false);
user_pref("app.update.enabled", false);
This is obnoxious.
I expect better from Mozilla.

My Macbook Pro auto update, now it doesn't load and OS.

My Macbook had what looked like an auto update which I just accepted and now it won't load the Lion OSX at all. It won't even load "Safe Mode." I don't know what to do as it now just says I have to turn it off in four different languages.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

Auto-update a Custum Field in a standard Infotype.

Here is my problem.
In IT0759 (Compensation Process), I added a new field 'ZZSTAT'.
The process should be like this :
When the standard field CSTAT (Status of Process) = 5 Active then the custom field ZZSTAT should also be updated to 5.
I manage to deal with this using the PBO of ZP075900 :
MODULE MODULE_PBO_0759 OUTPUT.
IF p0759-cstat = '5'.
p0759-zzstat = '5'.
ENDIF.
ENDMODULE. " MOD_PBO OUTPUT
But there is a program 'RHECM_CHANGE_PROC_STATUS' which update the standard field CSTAT. As the PBO is not processed, my custom field is not updated.
Does someone have a solution ?

How-to create auto-updating fields

Hello, I'm having a slight problem with user controlled fields on the front panel. I'm using controls in LabVIEW 8.0, and my problem is that when a user enters a new value into a numeric control field, the control does not update and pass that value throughout the rest of the code unless the user presses the <enter> key while the field is still selected. Seems as though there should be an easy fix.

Well to specify, what I'm trying to do is create a program for students to use in and education lab, just for simplicity it would be preferred that they not have to press enter at the end of every string of numbers written into a field. The controls that I'm using are governing for loop parameters; the for loop activates with a mouse down event structure. The problem is that if a student enters that they'd like the loop to perform say 500 iterations one time, and they wish for 300 the next; if they don't press enter after changing the value of the numeric control on the front panel the loop will perform 500 iterations again. I have tried using various types of event structures on the numeric control such as "key up" and "key down" however the same problem arises that they enter key must be pressed in order for the value to update.
I've tried this both on the experiment VI, and a new blank VI with various control-to-indicator set-ups.

AIR auto-updater -- include markup?

I have had my AIR application able to auto-update for some time. But I'm wondering if you can somehow include HTML in the description you see of the auto-updater. Here is my update.xml file on the server:
