Field order issue with Avid codec

Is there some way of setting the field order of the source for Encore DVD 2. Given the problems I experienced with ProCoder I decided to encode a project using the inbuilt Main Concept encoder.
On the interpret footage menu I can correctly set the aspect ratio but not the field order.
Unfortunately Quicktime does not seem to be passing on the correct field order to the Main Concept encoder everytime.
I have had one encode using a preset I created that worked perfectly - I then copied that preset and added a crop and scale to get rid of some VIT (out of essential but viewable on the customers replay system) and everything was field muddled.
I can see how you can set the output field order but no way of setting the source field order. Transcoding on automatic had the same jumbled field effect.
BTW these were full Quicktimes not refs

Probably - although it is such a small re-scale, that if the scaling algorithm is even half-way decent the result should be fine. This is Digibeta originated footage.. in fact the result when I re-worked this in ProCoder was excellent.
I just wanted to avoid having to place a mask over 8 different sequences amounting to 50 minutes in length, as anything you then export would result in a full render (even though the Avid would play it in real time).
I guess I'll have to seriously look at my workflow - everything used to just work beautifully - Avid PAL codecs all UFF except for AvidDV LFF; now I keep getting a weird progressive looking result with the new Avid 1:1 10bit codec even though the source is interlaced UFF and recently I rendered an Avid DV export with all settings correct (Source LFF Target UFF) and it ended up jumbled. I had to deliberately set the source to UFF. I do think the culprit is QT 7 as all these problems seem to have started from the switchover from QT6+, but I'm not certain.

  • Production Order Issue with Qty conflict

    Hi Friends,
    i have a issue with a production order fro which we built the product and the finished goods is moved to storage location, i have status set on my Production order as REL  PRT  CNF  DLV  PRC  GMPS MACM SETC. My order was for 1unit,In the quantities window , total qty shows as 1 pc and delivered as nothing (blank). Its not active were physically i can change , so how do i add the deliverd qty field by 1.And what could be the issue? PLS help Points will be rewarded.

    This Delivered field in CO02-Dates/Qtys tab will get updated automatically , when the order qty is delivered to stock.
    We can not manually update that.
    Have you checked whether the storage location stock has been increased ? In MMBE , you place the cursor on the stock qty and choose Environment - Production orders or Material Movements and check , whether a GR has been made against this order.

  • Hyperion Planning- Account dimension - Sort Order Issue with ODI 11.1.1.5

    Hello Experts,
    First of all, I thank you everybody in this forum for posting their valuable suggestions.
    I am facing a strange issue with ODI (Version 11.1.1.5) while loading metadata to Planning ACCOUNT dimension (Version 11.1.2.x). I am using a Oracle view to load metadata to this dimension. I have defined the sort order in the view and enabled SORT_ORDER_BY_INPUT. For the fresh load to the dimension, everything is working fine. But, when I move a member from one parent to another parent, and define it as the top member of new parent, it is missing its sort order.
    But it is working fine if you define it as the second, third...or last member under new parent. I have tried all the possible ways by flipping all the properties but unable to fix it.
    Please help me here to resolve this issue.
    Your help is greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks

    To be honest I think you are best logging it with Oracle because it sounds like you are doing everything correctly so it could be a bug.
    Have you tested this on any previous versions of ODI or is it a new installation?
    If it does get logged with Oracle please keep me informed of the outcome as I would be interested to hear.
    Cheers

  • Field order issues after export to DV Pal from uncompressed

    We are experiencing some difficulty exporting clips from FCP to our Omneon Server for TX.
    We are capturing 8 bit uncompressed (AJA and Blackmagic) from digibeta for our edit and all editing stays in uncompressed until final output. Our transmission system demands DV PAL files so we export finished items as DV PAL in FCP and drop onto the server
    Our problem is that on playback from the server, the field order is incorrect. Although the exported DV clips properties show lower field order, the clip is obviously playing upper field first. If we capture and edit in DV and export the DV file to the server, then we have no problems. I have tried
    exporting uncompressed clips to DV via Compressor and changing the field order in frame controls but no success. It seems that when a clip is captured and edited in upper field it hangs onto that status even after conversion to DV!! Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

    when you drop one of your 8 bit uncompressed source clips into your DV PAL timeline, is FCP correctly adding the Shift Fields filer to those timeline instances?
    do you edit in 8-bit uncompressed and then export direct to DV PAL or do you nest your 8 bit uncompressed sequence into a DV PAL sequence first and then export as Quicktime Movie w/ current settings? if not the latter, try it (and make sure your nest has the Shift Fields filter applied)

  • Exporting with Avid Codec

    I looked in the posts, but didn't see anything recent on this. I send commercials to local TV stations by outputting to Beta SP. Recently, those stations have started accepting a QT movie at their ftp site to eliminate the tape. Two use an Avid system, and have requested I output using an Avid codec.
    I saw a post from Creative Cow in 2007, but that's the last I saw and there were problems that needed to be solved. Any new advice?. I am using the Power PC Mac, not the Intel version.

  • Raid 0 for media or previews? Using DSLR footage with Avid codec Sequence for smart rendering

    I am on a PC currently  using raid0 for media (4x 7200rp drives, read/write at 600) and exporting (no previews) to my sas 15k rpm (read/write about 180) previews/render drive.
    I want to use avid codec for my sequence settings, will be doing smart rendering and exporting preview files for quicker exports.
    My question, should I export to my raid0 since I will be exporting previews?  Or is it better to keep the same setup and just add an export drive?

    Either would work but since the Media array is so much faster than the Render drive, the export times probably wont change much exporting to the Render drive.

  • FCP7 having issues with HDV codec

    So, one of our other editors saw an update pop up for QT and when it finished we were no longer able to read the HDV codecs on the computer. We have another computer thankfully to finish up some projects, but we need this computer to run as well. Plenty of our older footage was shot on HDV and we had already encoded them for that.
    So, what have I done.
    - I reseted FCP7 - No changes but the usual preferences in the initial startup.
    - Deleted and re-installed QT - No change.
    - Tried to download the Pro support codec from the QT download area in Apple.com - Wouldn't let me because it stated that there was a current version on the computer.
    I have read and read and read many other people with this issue, and the only thing people answer back is, don't update software. Fine and dandy, but I haven't seen a solution to getting out of that hole after the update. My fellow associate just wasn't thinking at the time and thought the update would be okay. Obviously not.
    Thoughts anyone? We are still on FCP7 here, just haven't been happy with FCPX really and we are too deep in projects to jump on to Premiere to learn a different layout for our edits right now.
    Thank you for any comments and suggestions you bring to the table here. If any one knows the support phone line that would be helpful too ... I couldn't find that here.

    To start, uninstall the update if you can. Even if the editor didn't note the ID, you should be able to find it by date or something.
    In general, I always try to download any updates and run them manually rather than letting them run automatically. It allows me time to read the release notes and make sure I don't end up in your shoes.
    If you can't uninstall, you may need to re-install the OS in order to get things straight. If so you may also need to re-install FCS 3 as well. This
    FCS Remover - Uninstall Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Compressor, Soundtrack Pro, Color, DVD Studio Pro, LiveType, Cinema Tools
    will make the job easier.

  • HDV Compatibility Issues With Avid

    I have 9 tapes of footage (about 8.5 hours) shot on the Canon XH-A1. All the footage has been captured with FCP into the HDV Quicktime format. Now I need to be able make that footage compatible to edit in an Avid HD system on a PC. The issue at hand is PCs can't read HD QT files as there are no HD codecs available for PCs yet. Avid accepts file formats of .mxf and .m2t. I have found several programs and methods to convert those file types to QT, but nothing to convert Quicktime to .mxf or .m2t. I tried the demo version of Avid's Thunder Browse which is supposed to convert QT to .mxf, but Avid won't recognize the file. Has anyone else run into a situation like this, needing to get HD Quicktime into a PC Avid system?

    OF COURSE there are HD codecs available for the Avid in PC land. Avid, like FCP and other NLEs, captures to a proprietary codec. (the HDV codec and DVCPRO HD codec is not recognized on any system WITHOUT FCP installed...even another Mac)
    Gotta recapture them with the Avid. And Avid is capable of capturing HDV...has been for a while...as long as it is one of the new versions, like Avid Express Pro or the new Media Composer crossgrade.
    You'll need to export an EDL from FCP using Automatic Duck (www.automaticduck.com). Or you can try just a basic one from FCP...but either way, you are gonna have to recapture with the Avid.

  • Trouble with Avid Codecs

    To start, I'm using Mac OSX Mavericks.  I've got two different machines, a Macbook Pro, and an iMac. On my iMac, when I import clips that were captured on a Blackmagic Hyperdeck with the Avid DNxHD codec, I get no audio. I can open these clips in prelude, speedgrade, even in Premiere Pro CS6, and get audio, all on the iMac. I can even ipmort the clips into Premiere pro CC on my Macbook pro, and I've got audio. I've uninstalled Premiere pro CC twice, and reinstalled. I've removed the preferences folder. I've uninstalled the codecs and reinstalled.  I've tried three different versions of the codecs from Avid's web site. What am I missing?

    Hi mboogman,
    Welcome to the forums.
    Have you tried to update the blackmagic drivers? Also, please check the audio hardware preferences and playback whether blackmagic is available as one of the componets or not.

  • Inbound IDoc w/message ORDERS - issues with error processing

    We are using inbound IDoc ORDERS05 with message type ORDERS to create the sales orders in SAP. In WE20 we have the following settings:
    - partner type LS (= Sales Org VKORG)
    - process code ORDE
    - trigger by background program
    - post-processing agent of type US (user) with a user ID.
    We create IDocs through an ABAP program and use RBDAPP01 to post the IDocs. When there is an application error in the IDoc posting we expect the designated user to receive a workflow item in the SAP Inbox, but for some reason this is not happening.
    I did some research and went through all the possible settings for workflow, task, etc. and everything seems to be set up correctly. When debugging RBDAPP01 I have noticed that it calls FM APPLICATION_IDOC_POST_IMMEDIAT, which, in turn, calls IDOC_START_INBOUND. If IDOC_START_INBOUND returns SY-SUBRC = 1 then the workflow item is sent correctly to the designated user, exactly as we want. But for some reason it returns 0 (I changed it to 1 in the debugger).
    It seems that IDOC_START_INBOUND reads TEDE2 records (TEVE2-EVCODE = ORDE) and sy-subrc = 1 is only possible when EDIVR2 is 1,2,3 or 4. In our case TEDE2-EDIVR2 = 6. It seems that TEDE2 is maintained in the transaction WE42. However, I tried to change the settings there but it affects the IDoc processing in whole (IDoc gets some odd status and doesn't get processed as before). I've also tried to use process code ORDE_BY_WORKFLOW in WE20 with the same "success".
    What do we need to do to get a workflow item for the errors that happen in the application layer when IDoc is posted? Is it even possible with this message type?
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    Can you please share how do you overcome the problem, so that it can be helpful for others.

  • Tab order issues with UI elements in Web Dynpro

    Hi Folks:
    We recently upgraded to NW 2004s and now i am running NWDS v 7.0.
    I have noticed many behavioral changes since the upgrade.  One of the more problematic and annoying issue is the tab order of the UI elements.  In the prior version, the label element never had the control while tabbing.  But now the Label also is part of the tab order.   There is no property ( that i have been able to figure out) that stands out to fix  this issue.
    I am i missing something or doing something wrong.  Greatly appreciate any input.
    Thanks & regards
    Renchy Thomas

    I figured it out.   You have to bind the label to the UI element it is a label for - using the labelFor property of the Label element.
    Duh!!  i should have thought of it before but it is true that the older version was not enforcing this rule.

  • Dynamic Input field creation - issue with bindValue in loop

    Hello,
    I am creating context node elements at runtime. My node looks like this -
    LocalNode
      Question
      Answer
    for(int i;i<wdContext.nodeLocalNode.size();i++)
    wdContext.nodeLocalNode().setLeadSelection(i);
      IWDTextView TV1 = (IWDTextView)view.createElement(IWDTextView.class,"TV"+i);
      TV1.setText(wdContext.currentLocalNodeElement().getQuestion());
       mainGrp.addChild(TV1);
       IWDInputField IP1 = (IWDInputField)view.createElement(IWDInputField.class,"TE"+i);
      IP1.bindValue("LocalNode.Answer");
       IP1.setValue(wdContext..currentLocalNodeElement().getAnswer());
       mainGrp.addChild(IP1);
    Please note: Question column is the textView and Answer column is the input field
    The output should be as follows-
    Question               Answer
    Header                  None
    How Many             7
    Comments             Maybe valid
    Do you agree        Yes
    Although the text view displays correctly, the input field only shows the last record value and the output currently displays as follows-
    Question               Answer
    Header                   Yes
    How Many             Yes
    Comments              Yes
    Do you agree         Yes
    What am I doing wrong here?
    How can I bind the corresponding values to the input field in a loop?

    Could you please provide the code .

  • Cannot get rid of the horizontal lines (field order or interlacing?)...

    OK- I have footage which is 25fps DV Pal 720/576 (was shot on tape, 4:3 letterboxed), lower field/even which I am editing into a short 25 second sequence which needs to be 16:9 (as my final project will be that, and this footage/sequence is the only 4:3 one in the ten to be used).
    The current sequence I have worked in is showing up as 25fps DVCPRO Pal 1280/720 also lower field/even and it is working OK (NO idea how!) except for the clips I am shrinking for a multiple screen section- they are shrunk to 45% and quite interlaced looking- meaning that I am seeing quite bad horizontal lines even in the playing back of the sequence, before export.
    Notably one clip is FINE- it is different in that it has been "grown" to 180% because of the fact that it was 4:3 letterboxed and I needed it to appear 16:9. I see no interlacing/field order issue...
    What do I need to do in order to "fix" this now that I have a gorgeous sequence and cannot export it to look like anything decent?
    I feel I do NOT understand the settings I should set up for capture, working and export- I am just stabbing in the dark here. I guess a problem I have is that while I learn super fast when shown to do something I don't make the connection when reading manuals well. In other words- if it is not a response to an issue I have I cannot tell that it is the answer I seek. I am so despondent.
    Ideally I would need to be able to fix the mess as the work I have done is long and hard (I am not really a bad editor- creative but clueless when it comes to setting things up right, it would seem!). Please and many, many thanks.

    Thanks for that. It was a horrible blow as he had just been nominated for his first BAFTA and I was so hopeful that he would take me on as an apprentice...
    OK- the issue will be one most students creating showreels will encountering as we don't tend to shoot ideal footage, on different cameras we don't "know", and certainly don't have a say about how it is ingested. So it is a case of doing the best we can with what we have.
    I ended up dealing with it by using Compressor to "reconform" the footage I was using and to also use a 30%/45% scale-down of each of them and made a multi-clip collage of the material. The "problems" are almost lost in the scaling down, so I am OK with it.
    Of course there is still the problem that if I move from the college's Avid system to my home set up of Final Cut Pro I get very annoying issues also with the Avid's exports (QT6) showing up as 5:4 instead of the 16:9 it was exported as!

  • HDV, ProRe, and field order

    Hi all.
    I'm having a field order issue. I have many Quicktime movies in HDV 1080i60. I am trying to convert these to ProRes LT for editing, and then encode the result with a compressor preset for DVD.
    If I use the ProRes LT for interlaced material preset, everything seems fine until I encode that to mpeg2. Compressor detects the ProRes file as interlaced, and I have frame controls off for the mpeg conversion. But the field order appears wrong upon viewing; it appears right if I change the native field dominance to "progressive" before encoding to mpeg2.
    So can anyone tell me why the ProRes behaves as if it is always progressive? I can't figure out what is missing.
    Thanks.
