FieldPoint Real-Time ftp security

I am using FP RT as a datalogger, so I want multiple computers have access to the files through FTP. Nevertheless, I don't want any machine can delete the files, the labview application does itself. How can I configure the FP security so any machine can retrive the text files, but cannot delete them?

hl-ni,
As of now there is no way to allow read-only access to the FTP server. However, you can lock the FTP server through Measurement & Automation Explorer, which will only allow access by someone who has the password you set.

  • Can I run LabVIEW DSC on Fieldpoint real time processor?

I want to use the Fieldpoint real-time processor as an OPC server on the network. Can I run DSC runtime on the Fieldpoint processor?

There are two separate questions here. One, can a FieldPoint Real-Time Controller act as an OPC Server, and two, can the DSC Run-time engine be downloaded into the FP-20XX controller. The answer to both questions is no.
The FieldPoint RT modules are running a Real-Time OS, they are not running any version of Microsoft Windows. The OPC Specification is based upon Microsoft's DCOM model which is built into Microsoft Operating Systems. This does not exist in the built-in OS and thus the FieldPoint unit can not be an OPC Server. However, a host PC running Windows can have an OPC Server on it that in turn publishes all of the data from the FP-20XX module.
Can the DSC run-time be loaded into a FP-20XX? No, it was never designed for it and would not fit in the mod
    ule.

  • FieldPoint real-time controller or Ethernet interface

    Good Afternoon,
The first feature listed on the FP-2000 product page is:
Stand-alone embedded real-time controller or Ethernet interface for PC-based distributed I/O.
Has anybody successfully implented a FP-2000 as an Ethernet interface for PC-based distributed I/O?  In other words, have the FP-2000 act like a FP-1600?
There are some discussion forum threads that dance around the subject but I have not found one that really answers it.
    Thanks,

    Hi edlad,
After playing around with a FP-2010 for a while, I do believe that you need to install LabVIEW Real-Time on the controller in order for it to work, even if you are technically not using it because you are not running a VI/executable on the controller. As far as your issue with installing LabVIEW 8.5.1 on a FP-2000, that is troubling because there should not be an issue doing this at all. In fact, I have personally been able to install LabVIEW 8.5.1 on many FP-2000s. For that issue, I would suggest reformatting the FP-2000 from MAX and try again.
ThinkG: Regarding your question about using a cFP-2220 to communicate with Lookout, I am not sure because Lookout support is handled by our Shanghai branch via email only. However, I do know that you can use that second ethernet port to communicate with another FieldPoint network module (cFP-180x) using the FieldPoint drivers. Here are a couple good KnowledgeBase articles regarding that configuration. I hope they are helpful.

  • Error 53 PID Autotune with Real-time fieldpoint control

    Hi!
I cannot perform the autotuning PID parameters in fieldpoint cFP-2000 (Real-time control).
It gives me the error 53 as you see in the attachment file. It seems to be because of the autotune wizard vi...???
How can i solve this problem?

    Hello,
LabVIEW RT does not currently support the autotuning feature, because the procedure invokes a wizard that requires user interaction. LabVIEW RT does not support this type of user interface. This wizard is tightly integrated with the PID function itself and would require significant redesign to work in LabVIEW RT.
It is the autotuning VI itself that is not compatible with LabVIEW RT. You can use the "PID Autotuning.vi" as long as you are not targeted to your RT engine. Run your VI in development mode with the "PID Autotuning.vi" in your code. After you receive your tuned gain settings, replace the autotuning vi with the normal "PID.vi" and use your tuned gains for the inputs. You can now target to your RT engine with tuned gains.
    Hope it s help.

  • Any suggestions for free real time anti virus or malware security sw?

I have been using Onyx and that seems to work fine, I wonder how you can tell without anything else to compare it to anyway.
But lately I've been reading a lot about virusses (virae?) attacking Mac computers and I'm wondering if there is any free real time security software that is really working.
If anyone has any recommendations I'd really appreciate it.
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Milli.

No viruses that can attack OS X have so far been detected 'in the wild', i.e. in anything other than laboratory conditions.
It is possible, however, to pass on a Windows virus to another Windows user, for example through an email attachment. To prevent this all you need is the free anti-virus utility ClamXav, which you can download from:
    http://www.clamxav.com/
However, the appearance of Trojans and other malware that can possibly infect a Mac seems to be growing, but is a completely different issue to viruses.
If you allow a Trojan to be installed, the user's DNS records can be modified, redirecting incoming internet traffic through the attacker's servers, where it can be hijacked and injected with malicious websites and pornographic advertisements. The trojan also installs a watchdog process that ensures the victim's (that's you!) DNS records stay modified on a minute-by-minute basis.
You can read more about how, for example, the OSX/DNSChanger Trojan works here:
    http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/trojanosxdnschanger.shtml
SecureMac has introduced a free Trojan Detection Tool for Mac OS X. It's available here:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/
The DNSChanger Removal Tool detects and removes spyware targeting Mac OS X and allows users to check to see if the trojan has been installed on their computer; if it has, the software helps to identify and remove the offending file. After a system reboot, the users' DNS records will be repaired.
(Note that a 30 day trial version of MacScan can be downloaded free of charge from:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/buy/
and this can perform a complete scan of your entire hard disk. After 30 days the cost is $29.99. The full version permits you to scan selected files and folders only, as well as the entire hard disk. It will detect (and delete if you ask it to) all 'tracker cookies' that switch you to web sites you did not want to go to.)
A white paper has recently been published on the subject of Trojans by SubRosaSoft, available here:
    http://www.macforensicslab.com/ProductsAndServices/index.php?mainpage=document_general_info&cPath=11&productsid=174
    Also, beware of MacSweeper:
MacSweeper is malware that misleads users by exaggerating reports about spyware, adware or viruses on their computer. It is the first known "rogue" application for the Mac OS X operating system. The software was discovered by F-Secure, a Finland based computer security software company on January 17, 2008
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacSweeper
On June 23, 2008 this news reached Mac users:
    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/06/23/mac_trojan/
More information on Mac security can be found here:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/
The MacScan application can be downloaded from here:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/buy/
You can download a 30 day trail copy which enables you to do a full scan of your hard disk. After that it costs $29.95.
More on Trojans on the Mac here:
    http://www.technewsworld.com/story/63574.html?welcome=1214487119
This was published on July 25, 2008:
Attack code that exploits flaws in the net's addressing system are starting to circulate online, say security experts.
The code could be a boon to phishing gangs who redirect web users to fake bank sites and steal login details.
In light of the news net firms are being urged to apply a fix for the loop-hole before attacks by hi-tech criminals become widespread.
Net security groups say there is anecdotal evidence that small scale attacks are already happening.
    Further details here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7525206.stm
A further development was the Koobface malware that can be picked up from Facebook (already a notorious site for malware, like many other 'social networking' sites), as reported here on December 9, 2008:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/technology/newsid_7773000/7773340.stm
You can keep up to date, particularly about malware present in some downloadable pirated software, at the Securemac site:
    http://www.securemac.com/
There may be other ways of guarding against Trojans, viruses and general malware affecting the Mac, and alternatives will probably appear in the future. In the meantime the advice is: be careful where you go on the web and what you download!
As to the current 'Conficker furore' affecting Intel-powered computers, MacWorld recently had this to say:
    http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/index.cfm?email&NewsID=25613
Although any content that you download has the possibility of containing malicious software, practising a bit of care will generally keep you free from the consequences of anything like the DNSChanger trojan.
    1. Avoid going to suspect and untrusted Web sites, especially *********** sites.
    2. Check out what you are downloading. Mac OS X asks you for you administrator password to install applications for a reason! Only download media and applications from well-known and trusted Web sites. If you think you may have downloaded suspicious files, read the installer packages and make sure they are legit. If you cannot determine if the program you downloaded is infected, do a quick Internet search and see if any other users reported issues after installing a particular program.
    3. Use an antivirus program like ClamXav. If you are in the habit of downloading a lot of media and other files, it may be well worth your while to run those files through an AV application.
    4. Use Mac OS X's built-in Firewalls and other security features.
    5. Stop using LimeWire. LimeWire (and other peer-to-peer sharing applications) are hotbeds of potential software issues waiting to happen to your Mac. Everything from changing permissions to downloading trojans and other malicious software can be acquired from using these applications.
    6. Resist the temptation to download pirated software. After the release of iWork '09 earlier this year, a Trojan was discovered circulating in pirated copies of Apple's productivity suite of applications (as well as pirated copies of Adobe's Photoshop CS4). Security professionals now believe that the botnet (from iServices) has become active. Although the potential damage range is projected to be minimal, an estimated 20,000 copies of the Trojan have been downloaded. SecureMac offer a simple and free tool for the removal of the iBotNet Trojan available here:

real time scanning keeps going off and have to keep putting it back on

I, too, have the Droid 4 and have experienced the random shut downs, tho not as frequently as you seem to be experiencing it.  You said you did a factory reset - another option to try (that seems to help mine) is a system cache clear...
    Power down phone
Hold volume up/down & power simultaneously until you see the Boot Mode Selection Menu
Use volume down to navigate to 'Recovery', use volume up to select
Should see screen with triangle and exclamation point next to an Android
Press volume up/down simultaneously to go into system recovery
Use volume rocker to navigate to 'wipe cache' and use power button to select
Once finished, use volume rocker to navigate to 'reboot system now' and use power button to select
It also may be a rogue app or a conflict with an app.  Have you recently installed a new app?  If so, try removing it ans see if that improves things.
How long have you had the phone?  Is it still within the one year manufacturer's warranty?

  • How to create a Real Time Interactive Business Intelligence Solution in SharePoint 2013

    Hi Experts,
I was recently given the below requirements to architect/implement a business intelligence solution that deals with instant/real data modifications in data sources. After going through many articles, e-books, expert blogs, I am still unable to piece the
right information to design an effective solution to my problem. Also, client is ready to invest in the best
infrastructure in order to achieve all the below requirements but yet it seems like a sword of Damocles that hangs around my neck in every direction I go.
    Requirements
    1) Reports must be created against many-to-many table relationships and against multiple data sources(SP Lists, SQL Server Custom Databases, External Databases).
    2) The Report and Dashboard pages should refresh/reflect with real time data immediately as and when changes are made to the data sources.
    3) The Reports should be cross-browser compatible(must work in google chrome, safari, firefox and IE), cross-platform(MAC, Android, Linux, Windows) and cross-device compatible(Tabs, Laptops &
    Mobiles).
    4) Client is Branding/UI conscious and wants the reports to look animated and pixel perfect similar to what's possible to create today in Excel 2013.
    5) The reports must be interactive, parameterized, slice able, must load fast and have the ability to drill down or expand.
    6) Client wants to leverage the Web Content Management, Document Management, Workflow abilities & other features of SharePoint with key focus being on the reporting solution.
    7) Client wants the reports to be scalable, durable, secure and other standard needs.
Is SharePoint 2013 Business Intelligence a good candidate? I see the below limitations with the Product to achieve all the above requirements.
    a) Cannot use Power Pivot with Excel deployed to SharePoint as the minimum granularity of refresh schedule is Daily. This violates Requirement 1.
    b) Excel Services, Performance Point or Power View works as in-memory representation mode. This violates Requirement 1 and 2.
    b) SSRS does not render the reports as stated above in requirement 3 and 4. The report rendering on the page is very slow for sample data itself. This violates Requirement 6 and 7.
Has someone been able to achieve all of the above requirements using SharePoint 2013 platform or any other platform. Please let me know the best possible solution. If possible, redirect me to whitepapers, articles, material that will help me design a effective
solution. Eagerly looking forward to hear from you experts!.
Please feel free to write in case you have any comments/clarifications.
    Thanks,
    Bhargav

    Hi Experts,
Request your valuable inputs and support on achieving the above requirements.
    Looking forward for your responses.

  • Is it possible to remotely start an exectutable/application on Real-Time target?

    Hi All,
Apologies if this is an obvious question - I could not get an applicable answer using any search terms I could think of - and I am quite new to Real-Time programming.
Is it possible to launch a headless real-time .exe (or uncompiled application saved on the RT machine) using an input from a remote VI - an .exe running on a Windows based laptop for example. I am currently building an application where my Windows based GUI communicates with the RT machine using shared variables. However I would soon like to hand my code over to a colleague who is going to test the application.I seem to recall that a .exe can be saved in a specific folder on the RT machine such that it will launch on start-up. However I would prefer to store multiple .exe's on the machine and allow my colleague to choose which one to launch.
My first thought is to write a wrapper .exe (which will autolaunch) which can then launch any other .exe saved on the machine using the wrapper. However I would much prefer to launch the .exes directly and one at a time if possible - it seems a more elegant solution.
    Kind regards and thanks,
    Dave

Well there is certainly a way to do it but NI does not expose that method.  You can however programmatically reboot a RT target and also you can use the FTP vi's to rename the 'startup.rtexe' file that will autorun on reboot.  Good Luck!

  • Help needed with CVI real time

    Hi,
I am new to CVI real time and need help related to this. I will explain my scenario:
    1. I have few configuration files (INI). Need to validate the files (range checking..etc) during start of the application.
    2. When user clicks "START" in the user interface on the host machine, I need to generate outputs (analogs/discretes...) based on the settings in the config file and read some inputs from other instruments. ( I/O tasks like generating outputs/reading inputs i am planning to perform in RT side)
    3. From the user interface,  user can also change the config files. if user changes the files, again file validation needs to be performed. After changing the files, if user clicks START, need to take the newly enetered config files to perfom I/O tasks.
    4. I am NOT using reflective memory for my application.
I am confused in the following area:
    1. File validation during startup , do i have to perform on both host and RT side?????
    2. if configuration files are changed in the host side by the user, how i have to send this latest file names to RT??? I think i should not send file names, i need to read from the file and its contents i need to pass to RT....Pls correct me , I am not sure about this....
    3. If I have to send file contents to the RT, how I have to do that....means i have to use structures,..???
Please guide me. Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hey haari,
    1. File validation during startup , do I have to perform on both host and RT side?????
This depends on the full range of responsibility for the INI files. If they are all needed simply to change what the I/O tasks are for, then you would technically only need to validate the INI file contents on the RT side. You could, however, validate on both sides if you wanted to. However, I would probably set it up such that I send a validation command to the target, have the target run a component of the code that validates the INI contents based on how I instructed it, and then return a message that says whether or not it met the requirements I specified. However, if you are concerned with offloading that process to the user desktop (instead weighing down the RT controller performance), you could FTP the file off of the controller and perform the validation process on the host side.
    2. if configuration files are changed in the host side by the user, how i have to send this latest file names to RT??? I think i should not send file names, i need to read from the file and its contents i need to pass to RT....Pls correct me , I am not sure about this....
You can send them to the target over FTP. This can be done programmatically, through MAX, command window, or a Web browser.
    3. If I have to send file contents to the RT, how I have to do that....means i have to use structures,..???
This is basically addressed in answer to question two. You would not need another structure in your RT code to handle the FTP receive component as this is handled by the FTP Client/Server communication. However, in the event that you successfully FTP a file to the target, you should likely send a message from the host to the target so that the target can respond accordingly and reload the file, reestablish the I/O values, run an idle procedure, or do whatever you like.
Hope this helps. Have a great day!

  • What is the best way to store data on a network hard drive using CompactRIO RTOS and Labvew Real time?

    HI!
I'm starting a project in which I have a low rate stream of data to read in a real time environment. I should store these data on a network hard disk without any PC with standard OS, I just have CompactRIO RTOS. How can I send this data to the network drive? Is it possible to just “write” data like I do for a standard file in LabView?
    Thanks for any help!!
    Il Conte
    dr. Valentino Tontodonato

    Il Conte,
you have to keep in mind that normally the RT OS does not map drives other than the Compact Flash that it has onboard (C:\). There are exceptions such as
-cFP-20xx which may have additional Flash Drives which can be addressed as D:\ Drive
-CVS systems with IEEE-1394 interface can write/read to Firewire external Harddrives
-PXI Controllers booted from a Floppy disk may map the floppy drive as A:\
One solution to your needings may be to write data to files locally on your onboard CompactFlash and then transfer these files to a network location using FTP, provided the network drive you are pointing to supports FTP.

  • Real-Time Application doesn't run; source code works fine

The short version is I'm programming a cRIO and apparently the RT code isn't running after being deployed and I can't figure out why. This is further complicated that I'm doing all this remotely and I don't have direct access to the unit since I'm 500 miles away. I'm working through a couple of other guys who know some LabVIEW, but neither works at the site so they have to explicitely travel out there every time I have a bright idea.
I was out there a few weeks ago. During this time I created a simple cRIO code, since I'm new to cRIO, that allowed the user to move a control and change a graph. It worked fine, but I should note it did not have an FPGA component. After that I worked on the real code, which reads some sensors, displays the results on a UI and logs the results. This did have FPGA. I used it in the LabVIEW environment and it worked fine, but I ran out of time before I could complete a release version and deploy the RT as a compiled application. I sent them the release version later, my contact deployed it but got network stream errors when running the UI.
After hours of looking at network problems and sending over debug versions, I tried creating a log on the RT level so I could see what was going on. The log doesn't even open, even if it's the first command in the code. I pored through the forums and found http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/cRIO-Troubleshooting-creation-and-deployment-of-startup/td-p/1956475... which took me in a new direction.
I had my contact use the RT debug console and when he pulls up the RT front panel, it shows a broken run arrow. He clicks it and nothing happens -- no running, no bug list. If he pulls up the bug list manually, it's empty. Again the RT works fine if you run it through LabVIEW and not as a compiled real-time application. He also noticed that the Open FPGA VI was grayed out on the block diagram. No other icons are.
So the problem appears to be that the compiled RT application is getting some kind of error but not telling me what it is, and it seems to be related to opening the FPGA. I've recompiled the FPGA and RT. I've had him recompile the RT himself, but not the FPGA because it would take hours. He's downloading everything correctly to the cRIO. The RT is set to run automatically. He's rebooting the cRIO every time he deploys the RT. They have LabVIEW on a computer there but it doesn't have the right drivers to run the code from the LV environment. I'm resisting having them install the dirvers because downloading big files is complicated there due to security restrictions and a lousy network connection at a remote site. Besides that doesn't solve the problem of the RT executable not running the same as the source code, which according to the thread above appears to be a thing.
The latest thing I'm trying is that I sent him instructions for how to build a source distribution from the project I sent and try deploying that to the cRIO. Even if that works I'm not sure that's an acceptable solution because I assume running the VI rather than the EXE is slower, and they need speed on this project.
I simply have no idea where to go from here. I probably need to get direct acess to the cRIO and I might be able to convince them to ship it to me so I can figure this out, but I'm not sure where I'd even start other than the standard voodoo debugging of "try stuff at random until something works". I'm open to suggestions if anyone has managed to solve this before.
Code snippet of the first part of the project is attached, though I'm not sure how much good it will do. I'm really stumped and the client is getting frustrated with how much of the budget is going to fix this.

Have you checked the cRIO error log? Usually I'd access it through the LabVIEW project (right-click on the target, don't remember the exact menu options and I don't have the RT toolkit installed on this machine to check), but it must be stored somewhere on the cRIO as well, although I don't know if it's in a human-readable format.
Which cRIO are you using? What exactly do you mean by "debug console"? (This may be related to the cRIO - the newer ones have video out, although I don't know if that's what you're referring to.) With a broken run arrow, you won't get an error list unless you're running in the development environment.
Have you confirmed that the software installed on the cRIO matches the version you're using for development, including patch level? Get someone to connect to the cRIO with Measurement and Automation Explorer, and get a list of the software installed on the cRIO.
Sounds like the ability to connect with a remote debugger would be helpful here, if you can get the right drivers installed on the machine with LabVIEW that's connected to the cRIO. Make sure all driver versions match what you're using. Any chance you could then do a remote desktop connection from your work site to the remote LabVIEW machine?

    Hi Yann,
The situation seems a bit confusing as in the link you've given above using the local monitor from a pxi labview rt system as the HMI without a pc attached, two messages (here and here) say that it is possible to display an image on the video output of a PXI RT controller using a function of the NI-IMAQ librarey (namely, the IMAQ RT Video Out VI) !
I have the NI-IMAQ library but no PXI controller to test if this solution should work or not

  • How can I save/write data on the hard disc of the Real-Time System?

I would like to acquire huge size of data via LabView Real-Time System.
Since data is so huge, I am now thinking that it might be good idea to
write/save data on the hard disc of the Real-Time System first and then
transfer the data file to a data processing PC using FTP etc.
If you know how to save/write data on the hard disc of the Real-Time System
(Ver. 7.1), please let me know.
    Thanks,

Just to add to Aitortxo's good answer,
Since you have only one Drive ( C:\) on your RT, just keep monitering the availible disc space.
After every few set of file writes keep transferring Backups delete these files, so that you  keep C:\ drive space for running your applications.

  • Open a txt file in a real time PXI target

I want to open and read a txt file when targeting to a PXI, running a real time OS. The file is saved in a specific directory of the real time machine. When I run the typical Labview (version 7.1) examples there is alwasys an error message.

    Hi Matt,
I hope you're doing well.  To be able to open files on the host from the RT target or vice-versa, you most likely will need to FTP the files back and forth between the two.  You need to have the files local on either machine to be able to edit or view them, and FTP is the simplest way to do so.  You can connect to your RT target via any standard FTP utility as discussed in this KnowledgeBase article.  I hope this is helpful.  Let us know if you have any additional questions though.
