Fields in CUBE

Hello, does anybody know how to get a list of fields in a certain infocube? which table is this information kept in? i know i can double click on the cube and get the info but i would like to know the table.

Double click on the transformation . Go to "Extras" --->"Tabular Overview"
This also gives you some information like if the mapping is direct or routine or constant.
You can get lot of other information from "Show Rule Details" , "Show Field Detailss" "Start Routine" , "End Routine" etc.

Added new field to cube but data not passed from DSO

Hope someone can help.
(BI 7.0) We added new fields into a cube. The fields already existed in the DSO. When we ran the process chain in development for the first time after making this change, we notice that the 'historical' data for these fields is populated in the cube. When we do this in our quality system only new data passed to the cube is updated. In development in the sub-chain DTP request we see all previous requests listed under selections. In quality it is only the latest request. The only difference is that the DeltaInit flag in the DTP request in development is ticked (extraction mode) - but not in quality. Does anyone know whyb this is?

Adding fields to cube doesn't affect delta status...The delta DTP should be able to handle delta requests automatically.
I guess in you quality system, the cube already got all requests updated from ODS before you importing the change request. And in develop system none of the requests in ODS were updated before the change.

Addition of one field in cube!

i have to add one field in cube.
scenario is----
i have one report which would give the information about the developer activities over a period of time. in this report we can see the information like which developer has worked on which requests and how much time he has worked on and so on.
now this report does not have any closing date for a request. it has the status of a request against the developer .my requirement now is to get that additinal field which would calculates the closing date of request.
if request status is closed then the last checked date for that request would be the closing date of request.
my question is
can i directly create a characteristic date field and add in infocube, the values for which would be coming from the update routine? (i think it is not neccessary that this field should be present in transfer rules also )
if yes, can some one help me in the logic of update routine?

Yes, you can (but you will not have this additional field filled for all the records already contained in your cube...)
Create (and then add in your cube) a date KF, then put in the update rule for it:
IF data_package-requeststatus = 'closed'.
RESULT = data_package-lastcheckeddate.
ENDIF.
I don't know if you already have on the same record this "last checked date" or if you have to apply some logic (in this case, do you have an ODS before the cube ?)

Selecting Semantic Group Key Fields for Cube to Cube DTP

Is it possible to use the semantic group key fields selection when performing a DTP between two infoCubes? When I try to select the key field of 0CALWEEK, i am unable to as the selection screen is grayed out like I'm in display mode even though I'm in change mode for the DTP.

Hi,
Have you initialized the planning area for the 11th key figure to be loaded. Make sure that the key figure which you want to load is initialized for the planning version for the respective planning area.
Also check the loading period inside the variant is within the planning area initialized period for that key figure. And make sure that you have made the key figure assignment for the info cube and planning area inside the variant.

Create computed field in cube query

I have a cube query in Hyperion 9.3.1 from an Essbase database and I want to add a computed field, but the option does not appear to be available. Can I add a computed field to this type of query?

first download it to result and then you can do whatever you want. To have the look and feel of query, you can again form a pivot out of that.
You can also add that computed item to essbase and then fetch it via the query.

Addding field to Cube

Hi Experts,
I am getting error while activating cube after transfering field i.e province from template to structure.
Error:Higher-level InfoObject G08AL40__0COUNTRY for InfoObject G08AL40__YBW_00058(Province) is not contained.
Please let me know possible solutions.I will assign points for helpful answers.

Hi,
I suppose your on a Bi 70 system. Here the checking of navigational attributes is more strict.
In your case YBW_00058 is compounded to 0COUNTRY (key field for YBW_00058). Make sure that this field is also nav-attribute in your cube.

hi guys,
iam learner of bw.
iam extracting the data from r/3 to bw.
for example sales cube(0sd_c05).
i want to add one more field in r/3 side according to client req for ex.in 2lis_11_vahdr.
how to add that extra field in 0sd_c05.
kindly give me steps one by one for my understanding.

To do that first you have to enhance the Datasource 2lis_11_vahdr in R/3 side with new fields and populate these fields with data using user exit. As a next step as this field in to your Cube

Hi,
Its possible to have that many fields in the cube, but you have to consider what the reporting requirements are and how the data is connected, etc. You also have to consider how much data volume is going to be generated and at what level you are going to store the data in the cube. If your client is suggesting you to have line item level or granular data in your cube , suggest to them to have that in an ODS and provide jump queries from the cube to the ODS if necessary.
If many of the fields are not going to be required for reporting at present or in the future, suggest to the client to have them in the ODS and a smaller subset of the fields in the cubes.

In BI7 Linking fields of two cubes of a multiprovider in BEx

There are two cubes in a multiprovider, only one field of these two cubes (SORTL in first cube and ACCOUNT ID in other cube )contain same values based on these two fields.
Q: how we can combine link these two cubes in BEx Reporting side so that the Corrosponding output come in same line
Example:for characteristic Customer Name in 1st cube how we can get corrosponding value for key figure Total Revenue from other cube using characteristic SORTL in 1st cube and characteristic ACCOUNT ID of second cube,(i.e. similar to the way we link two cubes through a commom field in BACKEND using INFOSET)

You need to add new fields to cube in Development system and then transport it to production after testing.
Edit cube in RSA1. Add the new infoobjects from right hand directory to left hand pane and assign these new infoobjects to suitable dimensions. Save and activate the infocube. Now go to change update rules for this infocube and do proper mapping of these infoobjects.
Save & activate the update rules.
RSA1-> Transport connection-> select cube, update rules and related objects and create transport request.
After testing is done, give the transport request number to your Basis person and he will do the transports for you.

New field added to cube, delta DTP from DSO to cube is failing

Dear all,
Scenerio in BI 7.0 is;
data source -delta IPs-> DSO -
delta DTP---> Cube.
Data load using proces chain daily.
We added new field to Cube --> transformation from DSO to cube is active, transport was successful.
Now, delta from DSO to cube is failing.
Error is: Dereferencing of the NULL reference,
Error while extracting from source <DSO name>
Inconsistent input parameter (parameter: Fieldname, value DATAPAKID)
my conclusion, system is unable to load delta due to new field. And it wants us to initialize it again ( am i right ?)
Do I have only one choice of deleting data from cube & perform init dtp again ? or any other way ?

@ durgesh: we have mapped existing DSO field to a new field in cube. So yes in DTP I can see the field in filter. So I have to do re-init.
@ Murli: everything is active.
Actully there are further complications as the cube has many more sources, so wanted to avoid seletive deletion.

So you need that this new field have data in old records?
1.- If you are in BI 7.0 and the logic or data for that New field are in the same Dimension, you can use a Remodeling to fill it. I mean if you want if you want to load from a Master Data from other InfoObject in the same Dim.
2.- If condition "1" is not yours.
First add the new field, then create a Backup Cube (both cubes with the new field) and make a full update with all information in the original Cube. The new field willl be empty in both cubes.
Create an UR from BackUp_Cube to Original_Cube with all direct mapping and create a logic in the Start Routine of the UR (modiying the data_package) you can look for the data in the DSO that you often use to load.
To do that both cubes have to be Datasources ( right click on Cube-> aditional function-> and I think is "Extract Datasource")

I Have service provider field in ods and which is populating data on daily basis.
Now I need to populate that field into cube and then reportingu2026u2026..
For this do I need to delete the data from the cube and add that new field and need to load the last 6 month data? Or else with out doing deletion of data can I add a field in cube?

Remodeling is a new concept introduced in BI 2004s to manage changes to the structure effectively in an infoprovider, where the data is loaded and running. As of now we can make changes to the Infocube only. The same would be extended to the DSO and InfoObject in the future releases.
Before you proceed to experience the remodeling process, letu2019s bear in mind few of the golden rules given by SAP.
--> As a precaution, make a back-up of your data before you start remodeling.
Before you start remodeling, make sure:
--> You have stopped any process chains that run periodically and affect the corresponding InfoProvider.
--> Do not restart these process chains until remodeling is finished. There is enough available table space on the database.
--> After remodeling, check which BI objects that are connected to the InfoProvider (transformation rules, Multiproviders, queries and so on) have been deactivated. You have to reactivate these objects manually.
You can go for remodelling. If you still have doubt, try the same in your Sandbox and repeat the process in Production as you are saying you have time of 1week.

Can i add a field to exestion ods or cube

Can i add a characteristics or key figure to a cube or ODS which all ready contain data if yes how to add a info object to the cube and how to add a info object to the ODS. in 3.X

Hi,
To include an New Info object into a already Loaded Infocube.But for that,you need to make a backup of data,coz the remodelling option is quite delicate as it deals with database tables

Impact if FIGL10 DSO is not staged b4 FIGL10 Cube

Heallo SDNer's,
How wud it impact if I dont stage 0FIGL_O10 - DSO between 0FIGL_C10 ?
Structures wud be similar - no additional fields in Cube.
Even SAP defined DSO n Cube have similar fields.
Datasource is <b>delta capable</b> - 0FI_GL_10.
Some background - > After having enhanced FIGL10 DSO with some fields which do exist in the datasource I have to have 19Keys to determine the unique records or to pull all records from PSA w/o any records being overwritten.
However, datasource relevant OSS note sugggested to take d help of artificial keys ( for the same DSO...here 1 artificial key will concatinate 4 keys ) .
<b>Data volumes will be less - 200thousands a month.</b>
Wud SAP suggested method ( artificial keys ) be a better bet ?
Please share your thoughts.....any inputs wud really help

You can do this. In BW system.
1. Go to table RSOLTPSOURCE.
2. Enter 0FI_GL_10 as datasource.
3. Check the field delta process value, refer that value to table RODELTAM.
That will tell you what kind of data is coming from that extractor. Based on the delta data (After image, before image and after image, etc), you can decide whether you need DSO or not.
