File association gets removed after shutdown

Hello,
I usually use firefox for browsing and VLC for viewing avi files. I also use QuickTime for playing mp3's (iTunes is used for managing my mp3 library etc.).
By default Safari, QuickTime and iTunes are used to play the formats I described above. By changing the default application (and applying 'Change All'), everything works as planned.
The weird part is that when I reboot / shutdown my MBP, ALL ASSOCIATIONS are reset to their original applications. So everytime I reboot I need to change the application for HTML, MP3 and AVI files.
It seems that the 'change all' doesn't write the changes to disk, but keeps them in RAM (or something).
I have no idea where the associations are kept on disc, so I have no way of checking if these are set correctly.
I already reset the permissions etc. by using the apropriate tools which came with OSX. I'm using FileVault for protecting my userdata. Apart from that everything is pretty standard.
All ideas are welcome

update on the problem:
Logging out and logging in doesn't remove the association. So it only occurs when I reboot or shut the system down.

Since the databases are not in sync, I had to copy the pwfile from primary to standby to make 'em sync.
(BUT.... the pwfile is not getting corrupted every time I reboot the standby by)
Could somebody please explain the reason for the pwfile on the standby database getting corrupted while rebooting ?

PO: FINAL_ENTRY indicators gets removed after DEL_IND is set

Hello,
I have the following problem in SRM7.0 (ext.classic scenario):
I have a PO and for item 1 the final entry indicator is set. Now the deletion indicator for this line item will be set too. For some reason the final entry indicator gets removed on the UI. After saving this PO to the database everything is fine.
Why is the final entry indicator removed on the UI when the deletion indicator is set? What would be a good point to start debugging? Those two indicators are placed on different components.

Find some details on Final Entry in OSS note 1140861:
1. When FINAL_ENTRY flag is set automatically?
In case of goods PO the flag will be set automatically if PO quantity is equal to GR quantity and no tolerances were maintained.
In case of service PO it must be set explicitely and manually. Other restriction in case of service final entry is that the flag cannot be set with zero quantity, note: 1076158.
2. When FINAL_ENTRY flag is reset automatically?
It is synchronized to MM PO using scheduled job BBP_GET_STATUS_2.
Note 718138 enabled FINA_ENTRY read, if it was set in the Backend.
It is reset, for example, if PO quantity changed and further GR are expected. Notes: 862506, 980694, 812564.
If FINAL_ENTRY flag is reset unjustified, please apply the enclosed notes.
3. How is FINAL_ENTRY flag converted in the MM PO?
SRM final entry indicator FINAL_ENTRY correpsonds to MM delivery completed indicator ELIKZ.
Since SAP_APPL 470 there was complete delivery indicator EKKO-AUTLF in MM PO header which has no use (also not for GR postings) as of note 31663.
In SRM PO close/finish is additionally set thru PO status (I1180).
FINAL_ENTRY flag of SRM/MM PO should be in synch, note: 906151.
4. Which processes are triggered by FINAL_ENTRY flag?
PO display (BBP_POC): if all PO items have FINAL_ENTRY key set, it should not be displayed anymore using Purchasing Cockpit.
Confirmation creation (BBPCF02,BBPSC03): s.a.
Return delivery (BBPCF02,BBPCF03): after return delivery FINAL_ENTRY flag must be reset to be able to create new confirmations. Notes: 872011, 1031298, 1132666.
Sourcing (BBPSOCO01): s.a.

IDE drive automatically gets removed after sometime

Hi,
I got a 40GB Samsung SP0411N HDD that is 5+ years old.
I have a P965 Neo2 M/B with BIOS updated to v3.8
I also have another 250GB WD SATA HDD
OS: Win XP SP3
The Samsung drive when used alone (without the SATA HDD attached) works fine. But when i attach both the HDD then my samsung HDD gets removed from the system after some time.
I also see these msg in event logs:
Event ID 9: The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort0, did not respond within the timeout period.
Event ID 51: An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation.
I donot think that the drive has any problems because it functions fine when used alone.
Is anyone aware of this scenario. Any ideas on what needs to be done to correct this problem.

Also before i ran these test, i connected my HDD with the far end of the IDE cable. Earlier it was connected with the middle end. And the drive is still showing in My Computer.
Will change back to older settings to check if the cable is faulty.

Clips get removed after adding to timeline...?

First time with iMovie. I am trying to create a short film. I imported my movie from my camcorder (it put it nicely into clips), but then when i add certain clips to the timeline, they get removed from the main clips library. So if i wanted to use the clip again, or a certain section of the clip, i have to keep going back in my movie and copying the specific clip i need, which takes forever to find. If i've trimmed the clip in the timeline, i can't review the entire clip anymore.
Basically i need the clips to stay in the library. Is this possible?

The XML file is getting truncated after reading.

Hi,
I have written a code for ABAP Mapping.
But the file which is getting generated using this mapping have missing fields.
I tried to debug and found out that the method MAP_BY_ABAP of CL_MAPPING_XMS_PLSRV3 is causing the problem.
The code is having one function IDX_XML_TO_IDOC which converts XML to IDOC table. I think the xml_data parameter of this function is having some missing data so it is not generating correct fields.
If anyone can guide me on this issue will be helpful.

My music files keep being removed after being added to iTunes

I have had my macbook for about a year and only recently has it started to remove my music files from its originial folder when i add it to itunes. I have looked at all the settings and can't figure out whats going on. Any advice ???

ITunes can convert the files for you. Set up mp3 as your import format from Edit > Preferences > General tab (enable the menu bar if needed with ALT or CTRL+B), then right-click on a selection of files and use Create MP3 Version.

File adapter can only work with the transport acknowledgments

(successfully or with errors)

Modifications to a jsp file not getting loaded after it has been served out once

Hi,
I am using Weblogic 6.1 on solaris platform.
I have created a new managed server under the default domain. A new
default web application was created with a DefaultWebApp directory which
acts as the default directory for JSP files for this server.
problem 1:
In this new server if i make changes to a jsp file which has been served out
once, the modifications are not reflected until and unless i restart the
server.
problem 2:
If I start the server and after that I add a JSP file to the DefaultWebApp
directory, if I try to access it it gives a 404 error which is file not
found.
These problems do not occur in the original server which got created when i
did the installation.
Can someone help me out please.

Hi.
On reflection I believe this is normal behavior for WLS 6.x. In order to see
changes to jsps (or other elements in the webapp) you need to either
undeploy/redeploy the webapp via the console or the command line utility, or you
can use the refresh utility if your webapp is deployed in the exploded directory
format (ie not a war file).

Podcasts sync to iTunes, but then get removed after a period of Time??

Hi,
I was wondering if you could help me out with this
I have 43 episodes up on podbean but I can only download my previous 20 episodes on iTunes?
I would like all of my episodes to stay on iTunes all time like I see with other podcasts.

Many podcast creation programs or services limit the number of episodes shown in the feed, removing older ones once the limit is reached and new episodes are added. Evidently Podbean is limiting you to 20. There is usually a setting somewhere to increase this limit, so you will need to look in Podbean's settings. iTunes itself does not limit the number until you get to 300.

What files can I remove after installation?

I've just finished downloading and installing CS5.5 Production Premium.
The program files take up about 2 GB, but there's another 9.7 GB of files that seem to have been used for installation. They are in folders called "deploy", "packages" "payloads" and "resources."
Can I remove those other files?

Hi,
Prior to installation, the required files are extracted to a folder which contain the folders you have mentioned above.
You can delete the extracted files and that should not interfere with the application.
Do verify that this is the folder that you initiated installation from by clicking on the set-up option before deleting.

FORMS60_TIMEOUT parameter in xml file keeps getting reset after clone

When I am cloning 11.5.10.2 from Prod I often have forms timeout issues on the cloned instance. What I notice is that I have to go in and reset the value of s_f60time to 60 from

normally though the xml file is the master, and value in the master xml file should carry over
from prod to the clone.

The default value is set in the template file ($COMMON_TOP/clone/context/apps/adxmlctx.tmp) which is the master file used to create the context file on the target application tier node. So, before running postclone, edit this file and change the default value from "s_f60time" default="5" to "s_f60time" default="60".

File associations (always open with...) are constantly reverted

Hi,
This sounds like a minor problem but is a major hassle on every workstation. We want to change file associations for all types like opening all .eps with illustrator instead of Preview.app and many others.
Our Workstations run Lion 10.7.1 and have Network Homes hosted on a Snow Leopard Server. Whenever the user changes the file associations (Get Info... dialogue) this change is reverted after a reboot. Strangely enough the new association is still in place if the user just logs out and back in again. There is no such problem with local users on the machines.
The com.apple.LaunchServices.plist where these settings are stored reflect changes made in the Get-Info dialogue. Upon reboot the Finder seems to ignore this settings file although it stays unchanged!
Any help is greatly appreciated!

You should have used the unistaller rather than delete.
Try this may work.
Start >> Control Panel >> Double-click Default Programs.
Click Associate A File Type.
Select .ai from the list.
Click Change Program.
If your desired version of Illustrator is listed, choose, it. Otherwise, click Browse to locate it and click Open.
Ensure the "Always use the selected program..." option is selected. Click OK to close the Open With dialog box
If that dont work, use the Adobe unistaller, then reinstall.
