File Browser Capibilities needed from CS gone in CS2

Someone help me to figure out how to adape the Bridge to work like File Browser did in CS. I need to be able to see the image large (larger thumbnail), see the MetaData, then click on the photo to edit it or batch process it. All this disappearing behind Photoshop or lossing the metadata if you make the bridge smaller does not work. Can the bridge be made to stay in Photoshop contained like the File Browser did, so that it can be edited? Or is there a way to get File Browser back? Sorry, I'm not too impressed with this Bridge.

It should load in a few seconds if setup correctly. You don't say if you're Windows or Mac, which doesn't help when we try to assist you with Troubleshooting.
Is Bridge trying to cache files in a folder? If you you need to let it finish.
Do you have antivirus software running in background? If so try temporarily disabling it to see if Bridge starts quicker.

Getting the local full path name of a file from an item File Browser

Hi all,
I would like to get the local full path name, of a file selected from an item 'File browser'.
I see in wwv_flow_files the column 'name', but actually it's a kind of id like 'F1542335/myFile.gif' for example.
What i want is the local path of this file ("C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\....\myFile.gif").
I hope this is possible??

Please understand that I searched before posting, and not ony 15 min.
What i mean is that the value of a File Browser in an Apex applocation is something like 'F1542335/myFile.gif', but what I need is the local path location.
And 'F1542335/' is not the local path location, i can't use it. Or maybe there is a way to convert it in a proper path name, such as "C:\Documents and Settings\....", but I don't think so.
So my question is : how to get the local path name of a file in Apex?
I'll answer if I find some good things.

Cannot find file when starting jnlp from browser

First of all, im not a web guru, so sorry for my weak knowledge on that part.
I have a swing application packed in a war file.
In the root of war file i put my jnlp, html that links to jnlp, and jar file. (everything created with NetBeans)
But there is also a directory "data" inside war where i hold some files.
My application is accessing those files at runtime. (those are save files for my game)
So, when i start jnlp directly everything is fine, but when i start jnlp through html link, i got error message:
SEVERE: null
java.io.FileNotFoundException: data\options.data (The system cannot find the path specified)
     at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Native Method)
     at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(Unknown Source)
     at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(Unknown Source)
        ...Java Web Start starts correctly, i can see my first panel of the application, but when i proceed (application tries to load save file), it can not find that file (options.data) obviously.
How is it possible that everything works fine when i start jnlp directly, and it fails when i start it through the browser?
What is the problem here?

Of course the JRE is not going to find a data\options.data on my PC, which is where it will look for it, if your software is running on my PC. Resources for JWS projects must either be available as an URL from the server, or downloaded locally to the user's local file system before they can be used as files. Why it fails to find it on your PC is probably that the 'root path' (the default directory at time of invocation) that is prefixed to data\options.data is different between running it off the local file system, and running from HTML. To say for sure, I would need a lot more information on how you are launching it when 'running locally'.
A major question here is, does the software merely read the data in options.data, or does it actually need to update (i.e. write to) the options.data?

Opening File browser(s) from a projector

Hello everyone,
I need some help, if it's possible
Challenge:
I have a projector file that from within it I need the end user to be able to click a button and open either Macintosh's Finder or Window's Explorer applications. I would be supremely happy with just getting this far, allowing the user to then navigate to where they need to get to. Extra super duper credit would be to get the file browsers to open to specific file location on the DVD the project will be playing on.
Basically, I have some midi files in a folder on the CD in their own folder that the end user will need to copy to their hard drive. The client wants a button that will essentially open the file browser right to the folder with the midi files. This of course would be after an explanation as to why and what they need to do that for.
I've considered using BuddyAPI, FileIO and other..but I'm striking out everywhere...
Any suggestions?

Would there ever be a case where explorer.exe and Finder.app are not in the specified locations? Would it be better to figure out how to open the file browsers with BuddyAPI?
As far as copying the files for the end user I considered that, however the nature of the exercise that will require them to copy files is somewhat dependant on the end users additional software install locations as well as the files the end user wants to use. So, I figured I'd open the file browser after giving them detailed instructions on what the files are and how to use them. Plus I imagine that with as many files as there are I'd have to build some sort of list in Director making it selectable (single or groups) and then building all sorts of additional functionality for moving, copying, etc the files.
I'm a bit new to the Macintosh OS could someone share some code with the correct syntax to call Finder.app on a Macintosh?

Some files in "DOCUMENTS" icon in dock won't open. Get msg saying You need a newer version of Pages to open this document." Have Pages 4.1 installed. Same files will open ok from Finder, Pages App. Recently sync'd with ipad2 (Pages) after iOS5 installed.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Do you see your iPod under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window in the source list when it's connect to your Mac?
BTW... you sync iTunes media from the tabs in the iTunes menu, not from the File menu unless you are transferring iTunes purchases from the iPod to your Mac.
Might need to zoom to see this graphic. I have "Music" selected as an example.

How to populate DB column with filename from file browse item?

Using APEX 3.1.2, I'm trying to easily allow maintenance of a filename stored in a DB column (VARCHAR2(1000)). Using the column as a file browse item seemed to be the way to go, but of course I don't want the resulting file to be uploaded and it appears as though an existing filename is not shown in a form when the row is retrieved.
After much searching, I found Checking filename length in File Browse item before uploading , but I'm not able to connect the dots. I was thinking that I could create a hidden file browse item and use a button to call Javascript function to activate it, then save the resulting filename to my DB column item and wipe out the hidden item before it was uploaded. But the hidden item doesn't appear, so I'm not able to reference it's form input name.
Hopefully this mess makes sense. Anyone?

From what I can tell, the path of a local file browsed from a file browse item cannot be retrieved because of security concerns. Although, it seems that while Firefox 3 only returns the filename sans directory, IE6 returns the full path:

Weird problem while Extracting File path from file Browser item

I followed some tutorials on this forum to get the absolute filepath from the filebrowser item and storing it in the database.
Heres what I did. I created a script in the header of the page which reads like this:

I have call this function by this syntax which I have put in the onchange event handler of the file browser item.

Here CCDPATH is the name of the hidden item which I use to store the path and CCDFILEBROWSER is the name of the filebrowser in question.
now the last statement of the script above, alert(), gives me an alert with the proper value. The problem is when I am trying to store the value of this variable CCDPATH in my database with an onsubmit process, NULL values are getting inserted :-(
When I checked out in the debug mode, I can see that the value of this hidden item, CCDPATH is showing as "" , i.e; null. Why is this happening is out of my understanding.
I mean, with the javascript, it is assigning and displaying its value perfectly, but when I try to store it with PLSQL, it simply does'nt happen.
What am I possible doing wrong? What should I do to store the value of this hidden item in the database ??

It is simple if you have TC setup as the main router and a static public IP.
Just go to finder, go, go to server and type in AFP://IPofTC
The TC has to be checked to allow wan access and use a decent password as the security for AFP is poor.

Newb needs help opening file browser and getting full file name and path.

Ok, so I'm a TOTAL newb here, but I have managed to get it to open a file browser but all I can seem to get it to do is give me the NAME of the selected file *eg. selectedFile.name* I also need the path of the file as in C:\example\file.mp3.
The program I'm making plays an MP3 of your choice at a certain time, like an alarm clock. But I got tired of entering the file path of the MP3 EACH time so I wanted to have a browse feature.
Ideas... help... thanks...

Do you know when this problem (for not being able to add new highlight/strikeout/underline) has started? Did you update your iOS from 7.x to 8.0 recently?

I do not know if your file can be recovered. But I may be able help you to recreate it with ease. If you will settle for a composite where all image are re-sized for a particular tile size and virtually cropped to its aspect ratio. Do you ever visit a friend or realtive with a Mac who has faster internet? Maybe the local library has Macs on a fast line. If so, get a USB thumb drive and put this link on it from your computer:

Then put this link on the drive:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1429
When you are at some place that has a Mac with a decent download speed. insert the thumb drive in that Mac and click on the first link ("DL1399") and direct the download to your thumb drive. Now do the same this with the second link.
The installer files will now be on the thumb drive and, when you get home, drag them from the thumb drive to your desktop. Install the Combo update first.
