File capure and export to DVD render problems

So.....
I do quite a few simple videos every week that require to be imported from minidv and then slightly cut, some transitions added and then exported to MPEG-2 to go to dvd via DVDsp.
My problem is that any video that I import from tape, needs some kind of rendering that sometimes messes things up.
Sometimes it will need to render audio which gives me some absurd time estimate like 58hours or something so I always cancel it right after it starts but the audio gets messed. Either the right track is out of phase from the left, presumebally just a couple ms off, or one channel gets out of sync by 10-30 minutes. I have been told before to empty the render files and that works until it asks me to rerender and then its back to the same thing.
Please Help

PowerMac G5 Dual 2.5Ghz 2Gigs Ram 1.8TB   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   FCP 5

Ok so I tried it this weekend. Everything is fine and synced after the initial log and capture using the same settings i have been. Once I add transitions and need to export as MPEG2 it wants to render the video, understandable, then it wants to render the audio for something like 57hours so i always cancel that. At that point, the right track is, i think, just slightly behind of the left track causing a phase cancelation kind of sound. So I turn down one track and im fine since it was recorded in mono only.
Then after I export my compressed H.264 verion for the web is where it places audio from about halfway through over the audio on the left track at the beginning. I have a copy of the video on my website for you to look at. http://cpctecharts.com/video/right.mov <-the correct one. and the bad one. <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://cpctecharts.com/video/bad.mov
Hope this helps more.
Thanks so much guys

  • FCP 7 exporting for DVD, Image problems

    Hey,
New here so sorry if I'm a little slow with everything.  We shot some concert footage using 4 cameras, 3 cameras shot in 1440X1080 HDV 1080i60 and the other camera shot in AVCHD but was imported as 1440X1080 ProRes 422.  I edited the video in a sequence with settings of 1440X1080, field dominance of Upper (odd), and compressor HDV 1080i60.  I was trying to find a way to export for SD DVD in the best quality I could and found Ken Stone's site,
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/hdv_timeline_to_sd_dvd.html
It's worked for me on other projects. This project is a 2 1/2 hour DVD, so I tested that method on a minute of the footage and it didn't come out well just for one camera.  I followed Ken Stone's page and took the sequence and changed the settings to field dominance None, and compressor to ProRes 422.  Then I exported using quicktime conversion with settings of ProRes 422 HQ.  Once that file is exported I've been taking it to Compressor and using either DVD Best 90 Minutes or 120 Minutes.  On the max bitrate I don't go above 7.9 and on the average I'm usually around 6.7 for Best 90 minutes and 5.2 for Best 120 minutes.  Whenever I put the footage in DVD Studio Pro, the footage from the 3 cameras shot in 1080i60 look great but the footage originally shot in AVCHD has all sorts of lines and distortion on movement.  I'm just trying to find out if there is a better way for me to take my footage from final cut to SD DVD and still get good looking footage out of the original AVCHD footage.  I don't really understand why the footage from the AVCDD footage is coming out like that since it was imported as ProRes 422.  Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Matt

Thanks a lot, this did the trick.
Yeah I'm doing a dual layer dvd, but I'm sending it off for replication so from what I've read it sounds like I have to build and format the dvd, then burn each Layer to it's own dvd.  Do you have any experience with this?  The break point is kind of confusing me right now because it sounds like just a lot of trial and error.
    Thanks again
    Matt

  • Binary file import and export in lab windows cvi

    Hello,
I have some standard binary file format (.sie) that has been written in origin IDE. The sie type extension file format is a public format, but not defined by Origin. In origin IDE, i can be able to import these files and also be able to export it to excel as csv type. Now, i want to do the same thing in lab windows cvi. i need to import .sie type file and be able to read and export it to excel in lab windows cvi. Is this possible? Please help me to work on this project. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Jayakumar.V

Reading and writing binary file is indeed possible in CVI, the problem normally lien in the definition of the file format you want to access.
I never found .SIE extension during my activity; a fast search on google returned this page with a link to the document explaining one file structure: it's a format dedicated to accounting so it's possibly not  your case, but could they be your files?
Before finding the complete description of the file format you cannot think of any operation on the file itself, unless it is so self evident that you need little effort to access file content (this normally happens only on text files).
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • Not sure about derviatives, file types, and export for lightroom

    hello:
I am a new LR user and new to the DAM process. I am confused about something that is probably basic and fundamental to this process. My computer setup is two internal drives (working drive and a photo archive), as well as external backup and burning to dvd. Using LR for both image adjustment and catalog management (not using Photoshop).  For raw I will be converting to dng on ingestion. I will add bulk metadata on ingestion and then bring images into LR to rate images and make basic image adjustments. These images will then be archived as originals.
Now, if I perform additional work on any of these archived images (addl. image adjustment or metadata) would these images be considered derviatives?  If so, would I then go to export in LR to add to file name (e.g., masterfile, master.dng or .tif) before sending to, for instance, a working derviative folder before sending off to the archive?
Also, if I am sending these images to archive, but not sending out for email or web, do I need to change the dng to another file type (e.g., tif)?
Lastly, I have some old jpegs on media cards that I want to put through this process. Is there anything special that I need to do in handling these images versus dealing with raw?
I have read the DAM book as well as reading through various online resources, but this whole process is quite confusing for a beginner.
    Please respond anytime.
    Thanks
    joe.

Lightroom is a non-destructive editor. This may be different than anything you have used in the past.
With non-destructive editors, there is no concept of original and derivative (unless you choose to use a 2nd program like Photoshop, sounds like you're not planning to do that). With a non-destructive editor, you make your changes in the editor (Develop Module), and these instructions are stored by Lightroom as a "recipe" and not as a distinct file on your hard disk. These instructions about your edits are applied whenever you use Lightroom to view your image (or whenever you choose to print from Lightroom or make a slidesehow from LR or make a web page from LR). The original is completely unchanged, and there is no edited derivative photo exported or saved. Thus, there is no need to segregate original and edited photo, because there is no saved edited photo. Additional edits in Lightroom are handled the same, original is unchanged, your edits are stored, and there is no derivative or saved photo.
The only time you would save a copy of the photo is if you wanted a copy for some non-Lightroom purpose, in which case you use File->Export... to make a file on disk in a "temporary" folder, then you use the file created in whatever non-Lightroom purpose you have, and when completed, you can delete the file in the temporary folder, knowing that LR can re-create it exactly if you ever need it again. If you are going to print from LR, or e-mail from LR, or create a web page from LR, or create a slideshow from LR, you do not need to create an exported photo.
JPGs and RAWs and DNGs are all handled the same by you, the user. Yes, there is internal differences that aren't important to your workflow.

  • Extract work order data from r/3 system in flat file(csv)and export to BI

    Hi,
    I am new in interface.
I need to extract data regarding actual cost and quantities of work assigned to Service Providers from SAP system and send it to BI for reporting purposes.
This interface will extract Master data as well as transactional data. Extraction of Master data will be a full extract and that of transactional data will be Delta Extraction.
Custom development will extract the data from different fields and will export it to flat files (CSV format). This program will amalgamate all the flat files created into one big file and export it to BI system.
Export of data to BI system will be done by schedule program Control M, which will export the data from SAP system to BI system in batches. Control M is expected to run daily at night.
Please provide the step-by-step proces to do this.
    Thanks

    Hi Ravi,
you've got to set up the message type MDMRECEIPT for the Idoc distribution from R/3 to XI. Check chapter 5.2 in the IT configuration guide available on <a href="http://service.sap.com/installmdm">MDM Documentation Center</a>. It describes the necessary steps.

  • Creating a photo slide shome with music and text and export to dvd

Hello I am a newbie on this so I would need a lot of help
I would like to create a presentetion DVD for my town. The idea is a slide show of photos with some music and after a set of photos a screen with text displaying infos about the city or the sights. This will be in 2 languages.
    So my questions are:
    1. I live in europe, what my initial settings must be: PAL? Frame rates? Audio? Any other settings?
    2. I will import still images, what is the the prefered size? the original size or should I resized them to 760px?
    3. How can I import text in to my project?
    4. What is the best way to export it in order to view this on a TV using DVD device or in PC.
    Thanks in Advance
    Nikos

Along with the excellent suggestions and links that Eddie provided you, there are some considerations for the "two languages," aspect. One way is to do two SlideShows, and alter the Titles for each one individually. This is the easier way, as it only involves changing your Titles by language.
The better way is to use the Subtitles function in Encore. When setup properly, with the Subtitles scripted, this will allow the user to use a "Language Selection Menu" to choose the desired language. IIRC, you can have up to 6 different languages as Subtitles. You then only have to produce one DVD (it's also only one Project in PrPro), and the users can choose. There are several very important considerations that you should address early on, when using Subtitles. I don't know the ins-and-outs well enough to comment, but if you post HERE, and ask for info, you WILL be directed to all of the proper instructions. Do this BEFORE you get into production, as it will save tons of work, should you have to try to fix anything later.
One tip: you will want your Exported Audio to be in either PCM/WAV, or AC3. These are the only DVD-standard Audio formats. MPEG-Audio is an "optional" format in PAL-land, but can be frought with problems. You still will need either the WAV, or the AC3 for your main Audio. Do not Export muxed files for Encore. It likes elemental streams best, i.e. one Audio-only file and one Video-only file. Muxed sources cause nothing but grief.
For heavily Titled Projects, I use a wordprocessor and then bring the text into Photoshop (PS) to create my Titles. Titler is a good, and powerful tool, but it does not have some capabilities, like spell-checking. In PS, I do my layout and image editing, then Save my full, Layered file as a working .PSD. If I only need the "Flattened" version (if I am not going to animate any of the Layers), I'll flatten, and do a Save_As. This file is then Imported into PrPro.
Note: if you do go the Subtitle in Encore route, you will need to do those Titles in a Subtitling program. Recommendations will come at the link above - The Encore>Subtitles forum. If you do the Subtitles, make sure that you use the proper Timecode delimiters - PAL is the colon ":" and not the semi-colon ";".
Good luck with the Project, and do not forget to start with a post to the Encore>Subtitles forum. Those folk know their stuff. Pay special attention to anything that Jbowden or Neil Wilkes says, as they are both very good and offer sage advice.

  • InDesign file saving and exporting S-L-O-W.

I am a designer using the InDesign/InCopy layout workflow. After my last post things were working pretty good for awhile. But now it is taking more than an hour to save over the network. I tried putting everything in the same folder on the network (links and all) and it still took me more than an hour just to relink a placed InCopy story. I am going mad. A week overdue for my first draft and I can't do anything. So today I decided to just  use the package workflow to speed things up. However it still takes as long to create assignments even after I have saved the InDesign file and links to my desktop.
Is there any possibility this is caused by using the last document and saving as new name? Even if I have unlinked all assignments and stories first?
I've tried saving as an inx file but I lock up.
Thanks for your help in advance,
    Holly

It turns out that is the issue. AnneMarie, were you able to find the other thread? I thought my problem was solved by deleting the random 40,000+ lines of garbage using a text edit program. But the random lines are re-generated each time I save the file in indesign. My IT Manager thinks it has to do with the InCopy plugin. In analyzing the 'garbage lines', here is what we do know. Each time a body of text is saved using the InCopy plugin, it is generating 62 unique id's of random URLs, and multiplies those id's 657 times...thus creating 40,000+ lines of garbage that bogs down the file. The urls are not used anywhere in my Indesign file, so we can't figure how the plugin is gaining access to the URLs to generate them.
We tested it on a brand new block of text in the file that had never been exported as an Incopy file (working off the desktop the whole time) - and the resulting .icml file still had similar URLs generated (all 40,000+). The plugin version is 6.0.0.352. Indesign Application version is CS4 6.0.4.578. Here is one URL pulled from the file: <HyperlinkURLDestination Self="u54e9" Name="URL 275" DestinationURL="http://www.evanta.com/details_popup.php?cmd=speaker&id=6963" Hidden="false" DestinationUniqueKey="694"/>
Any ideas on how to stop the URLs from generating each time I have to save the file?

I am trying to export my video as a digital video (.dv) but when I do it says it can't find a render file.
I have gone to Sequence->Render All->Both. Renders the whole video then I go to export it and it still says that some render file is missing.
How can i overcome this. I am on a Mac g4 runnning Final cut pro 4.5.

    Glad that did it.
Thanks for marking your post solved it helps keep things organized and if you want you can throw a couple of "solved" points my way if my post solved your issue. Just our way of sharing the love!

  • Managing Large Aperture file backup and export

I have a 250GB Aperture library file with 30,000 photos on my Mac Book Pro with a 500GB Solid State driive. I bought a 1TB GoFlex external drive with FireWire 800. I copied the entire 250gb Aperture file to the drive. After 24 hours the file size changed to 180GB? I exported the Masters (full size) from Aperture to the external drive in a separate file that is 60GB as a second backup. I tried to "RELOCATE MASTERS" to the external drive, but it did not reduce the Aperture Libray size by anything. I also exported all of the Versions (full sze) from Aperture to the external drive as a third backup. I am terrified of losing my work which is now all backed up in three forms on a single hard drive. What do I do now?
I must decide whether to use the full Aperture.library on the external drive.. which is HUGE and will only get more bloated.
or import the versions with metadata into a new library but manage previews better.
    or what?
    Thanks

First, make and confirm two back-ups of your Library and of any Referenced Masters.  Your originals and each of your back-up sets should be on separate spindles.  Move one of the back-up sets off-site.  End of terror: it is now virtually impossible to lose any work you've done up to the point you made the back-ups.
A good set-up to end up with is this:
    - Library on SSD
    - Masters older than 60 days on external FW800 drive (these will be Referenced Masters; let's call this drive your Referenced Masters Drive).
    - - - These constitute a complete Aperture "set".
    - Back-up Library _and_ Referenced Masters to _another_ external drive (1st Back-up Set)
    - Back-up Library _and_ Referenced Masters to a third external drive (2nd Back-up Set)
    - Keep one Back-up Set off-site.  Never have all three Sets in the same location.
    - Import new files into Library as Managed Masters.  Set Previews to be the size of your laptop screen.
    - Every 60 days, using a Smart Folder to identify Images with Managed Masters older than 60 days, relocate those Managed Masters to your Referenced Masters external drive
    - Back-up regularly
The above is just a template:  adjust to suit.  (Added:) How you get there will depend on where you are.  I didn't untangle your post.
When Images' Masters are off-line (you laptop is not connected to your Referenced Masters drive), you will be able to do all metadata administration, including moving Images, etc.  You will not be able to make Adjustments, Export, or Print.  (But you can drag the Preview out of Aperture and use it.)

  • Adding and /exporting/ image with Metadata problem

i have been able to add metadata to an image i need to publish but for some reason i am having a problem figuring out how to export this metada with the image.
i see i have an option to export as original or as version. does this affect whether metada has been exported?
also, can i export as PNG as get the metadata in the image or do i have to use something like jpg for some reason?
finally, is there a way to verify that the metadata has been exported along with the image to my desktop before i upload to the web?! it seems really sort of odd to have to re-import the image into Aperture to test the exported image to see if the metadata is there. i mean, i am glad i just did this with the image and metadata that i exported b/c the metadata is not there but it seems like this could be simpler.
    TIA

What export preset are you using? Did you check the box to include metadata. This is all in the manual. PNG has poor support for metadata so you're best sticking to Jpeg. You can check for the metadata in Preview, or an of a 100 other photo apps.

  • File saving and exporting

In PE 4 can I save or export movies i
n MPEG-2?  My undersdtanding is that AVI files  are much larger therefore transfer time over the net is much longer.  Thank You.

If your client will only be playing the file on a computer for comments, etc., then MPEG-2 should work fine. One option would be to use a CODEC, like DivX to compress the file more, but still give good playability and quality for playback. The client would need to have the DivX CODEC installed, but just the CODEC is free. An alternative would be for the client to use another player, that contains the DivX CODEC, like VLC Player, MediaPlayer Classic HC or GOM - all free. This would be wrapped in the AVI format, but heavily-compressed.
One of the WMV CODEC's would be good too, and compression can be pretty high, but still allowing for good playability. Nearly every PC should be able to play the WMV's, with no additional CODEC's needed.
With either MPEG-2, DivX or WMV, the uploaded material would NOT be good for the client to edit - just play back.
    Good luck,

  • Where is the AirPort Express/Extreme Config file import and export after the latest update (version 6.0 / 7.6.1)?

Before the recent update I was able to export the configs of my AirPort Express and Extreme for later import if needed. It is not so important for the Extreme as it stays at home, but my Express has several configs saved as it is used in various locations and at times I need to change the config from home use to travel use. I am unable to see how this is now accomplished within the new update (version 6.0). Both of the AirPort devices are on verison 7.6.1. Thanks

I found it, you have to have the edit selection made then the import/export option becomes available.

  • Still images exported to DVD look deinterlaced and flicker on TV monitor

    Hi,
I have tried tried almost everything and I still have issues with the still images exported to DVD as sequencefrom FCP 7.0 by using Compressor are deinterlaced and flicker on TV monitor. Please help remove the annoying flicker.
My FCP Timeline Sequence settings match the image resolution:
    Frame Size: 1024 x 682 (double of 720 x 480 standard DVD res)
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square
    Field Dominance: None
Compressor: Photo JPG (also tried, DVCPRO-NTSC)
I cropped the original images in Photoshop to the 1024 x 682 and saved as tiffs. They still look deinterlaced in FCP timeline and exported to DVD on my iMac computer monitor.
Final output of DVD will be on this monitor:
    Specifications:
    Ikegami
    Model: VCM-2101
    Resolution: 450 TV Lines (Horizontal)
Should I crop the images to 450 horizontal pixels or the double of that 900?
How can I match the sequence or the images settings to avoid the flicker and deinterlaced look on that monitor? I am not able to test the image by having the monitor next to computer.
    Compressor:
I used custom DVD settings in Compressor for 90 min best quality DVD. Tried the Porgressive and "Same as Source" in Output field.
In "Crop to" and "Padding" I set for preserve source aspect ratio and letterbox area of source.
I followed the advices from below and I still did not resolve the problem. Please is there anythign else I can try?
    Thanks a lot..
    Re: Poor Quality Stills

Things to try (In increasing order of image degradation)
    - (in FCP) field order>none
    - (in FCP or Photoshop) reduce whites by 10% - reduces overly bright areas
    - (in FCP) flicker filter - minimum
    - (in Photoshop) motion blur>vertical> .2 - .5 pixels - blurs vertically only
    - (In FCP or Photoshop) Gaussian blur> .2 - .5 pixels -blurs both horizontally as well as vertically
    - (in FCP or Photoshop) deinterlace - throws away half the image and is generally not appropriate on scanned images

    Dear Russ,
Thank you very much. Yes, there is something else in the sequence, old documentary, 768 x 570 (no field dominance, 25fps, Apple ProRes 422) but the images are more imporant.
make a progressive sequence with  square pixels. (I am partial to 720P, 1080 should work – or 540). Choose Pro Res 422
Do you mean that I should make a sequence in FCP with these settings? If yes, how can I set a "progressive" sequence? I dont see a setting for output field in FCP sequence settings, lnly in customizing Compressor output DVD format.
Also: "720P, 1080 should work – or 540" are you talking about Frame size? If so, to set in Compressor or in FCP?
If you have interlaced material, then de-interlace before you bring it in. If you don't have interlaced clips, don't de-interlace.
The images are not interlaced after  I crop them, apply motion blur filter in Photoshop but look interlaced in FCP timeline after I import them and even to the same as photos sequence in FCP timeline.
Please help and thank you for your comments.

  • How to create and export a sharepoint list connection file to excel connection file library from power pivot?

    Hi All,
I'm new to SharePoint and Power BI.
I've to use  share point 2013 lists to create power view reports. For that, I need to create Power Pivot in Excel 2013.
I'm fine with the above. We normally take a data feed of a list and create connection to that. We need to create a connection file (.odc) and export it into a excel file connection library of Share point. The connection to be made to share point list. The
power pivot will be having multiple related lists.
How can I create a connection file which is referring to share point list
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Julie

    Hi All,
Finally, I could find the answer for this question after a long search.
First of all, open a new excel file in server.
    Data-->From other connection-->From data connection wizard-->data feed-->Location of the data feed-->
    http://sharepointsite/sitename/_vti_bin/ListData.svc
-->next-->select the lists which you need-->next-->only create connection-->properties--->export connection file
    -->ok
The connection file has been created and .odc file exported to the specified location.
Open power pivot and check the connection in existing connections.
Exported file has to be uploaded in Excel file connection library of share point 2013. So that you can refer the same in this excel file when you upload it into share point.
    Regards,
    Julie
