File Compare, Dreamweaver CC, OS X Yosemite

I'm sure this is asked and answered somewhere, couldn't find a good search result.
Moved from DW CS6 to CC and also to OS X 10.10 and (of course) the File Compare function no longer brings up FileMerge. There used to be a command line FileMerge at XXX:usr:bin:filemerge (or maybe I created a link). I know FileMerge is still packaged into the Xcode app but couldn't find the command line hook which I previously used. Any solutions (preferably with FileMerge but I do remember a TextWrangler solution at one time)?

  • Dreamweaver CS6 File Compare

Has anyone been able to get the File Compare feature in Dreamweaver CS6 to work in Mountain Lion?

    I have tried using /usr/bin/any3rdpartyShFile
I have tryed 3 different progrms but none load.
The file to compare from sevrer downloads from the server but the 3rd party file comapre program does not launch.
What has succesfully worked as a 3rdparty compare tool and what file path was used on MAC for cs6 dreamweaver ?
I prefer opensource (free) software but this feature is important to me and would pay if I knen it would really work.

  • File compare utility?

    Hi Guys,
Can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive file compare utility
    that works
    well with Dreamweaver 8?
    Thanks.

If you're on Windows, WinMerge (
    http://winmerge.org/ ) is free, so
fits with your inexpensive requirement. Haven't used it with DW8,
    but I have with CS3 and CS4.

  • File compare won't launch on mac

    mtn lion
tried two diff file compare utilities
both open fine when launched directly
neither actually open a file compare when trying from within the dreamweaver interface. e.g., select a file and try a compare with remote. or resolve when syncing. just doesn't launch. ideas?

Using Mountain Lion as well and encountered the same issue with DW 5.5.
Solution I found was to use use the path to diffmerge shell script (when using diffmerge), instead of to the actual application (.app).
In my case, that was "Macintosh HD:usr:bin:diffmerge". I began to use the steps here (http://xaviesteve.com/3096/compare-files-with-dreamweaver-in-mac-osx-step-by-step-guide/), but found that the script already existed.
    Hope that helps.

  • Working with .phtml files in dreamweaver... a how to

hope this helps those diving into magento, zend, and other goodies, but want the comfort of dreamweaver.  would be nice if it came this way, but it's an easy add for dreamweaver.
By default, Dreamweaver cannot read PHTML files. You can add the file type to the “Open in Code View” section of the preferences if you wish to have fast access, however you cannot view the file in design view if you do that. So if you use Dreamweaver (versions 4, MX, MX2004, 8, or 9, aka CS3,CS4) to design your sites, and you wish to open Magento’s Template files (they have .phtml extensions) in Dreamweaver, you can follow these steps to add support for .phtml and make Dreamweaver render PHP code (with coloring, hinting, et al) as well as allow you to see the design in code view if desired. Below are three steps to follow.*
IMPORTANT NOTES: This guide is for Dreamweaver on Windows (XP or Vista) or Mac OS X. Note: I have excluded version numbers from the file locations shown, and if you are using a version older than Dreamweaver 9 (CS3) replace “Adobe” with “Macromedia” in the file locations shown. Some spaces have also been removed to keep the references on one line.
    * Dreamweaver 4 users: if you are using the archaic Dreamweaver 4, you only need to follow step one. However, it’s highly recommended that you just upgrade to version 8, CS3 or newer for superb CSS and Web Standards support.
    * Vista may need to edit files by running notepad as Administrator, however this requirement is not common and if encountered, may be avoidable by following these steps after a fresh restart. However, if unavoidable, simply go to Start > All Programs > Accessories, and then right click on Notepad and select “Run as Administrator”. Once notepad is open, use File > Open to browse to the applicable file before making the necessary changes.
Open the following extension configuration file in a notepad and change the lines as specified below:
XP: Documents and Settings > [user] > Application Data > Adobe Dreamweaver > Configuration > extensions.txt
NOTE: If you cannot see the Application Data Folder, go to Tools → Folder Options → View and make sure that Show Hidden Files and Folders is checked.
    Vista: Users > [user] > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Dreamweaver 9 > Configuration > Extensions.txt
Mac OS X: Users > [Home Folder] >Library > Application Support > Adobe > Dreamweaver [Your Version] > [en_US or other locale (only for version CS4)] > Configuration > Extensions.txt
    HTM,HTML,SHTM,SHTML, ... ,TXT,PHP,PHP3,PHP4,PHP5,PHTML,JSP,WML,TPL, ... ,MASTER:All Documents
    PHP,PHP3,PHP4,PHP5,TPL,PHTML:PHP Files
This file is pretty much exactly like the extensions.txt file located in Dreamweaver’s Application Data folder, except it is in Dreamweaver’s Program Files folder, inside a configuration folder. Just as in Step One, find the file and change the lines as specified below.
XP, Vista: Program Files > Adobe > Dreamweaver [Your Version] > configuration > Extensions.txt
Mac OS X: Applications > Adobe Dreamweaver [Your Version] > configuration > Extensions.txt
    HTM,HTML,SHTM,SHTML, ... ,TXT,PHP,PHP3,PHP4,PHP5,PHTML,JSP,WML,TPL, ... ,MASTER:All Documents
    PHP,PHP3,PHP4,PHP5,TPL,PHTML:PHP Files
This will apply your php code coloring settings to your phtml files This file is an XML file which should be located in:
XP, Vista: Program Files > Adobe > Dreamweaver [Your Version] > configuration > DocumentTypes > MMDocumentTypes.xml
Mac OS X: Applications > Adobe Dreamweaver [Your Version] > configuration > DocumentTypes > MMDocumentTypes.XML
Note: Dreamweaver 8 users on Windows may also need to apply these changes to: C:Program Files > Macromedia > Dreamweaver 8 > Configuration > Document Types > MMDocumentTypes.xml
Note: In Windows 7/Vista you may need to update the file permissions under Properties>Security tab in order to save your changes to the file.
    <documenttype id="PHP_MySQL" servermodel="PHP MySQL"
    internaltype="Dynamic" winfileextension="php,php3,php4,php5,phtml"
    macfileextension="php,php3,php4,php5,phtml" file="Default.php"
    writebyteordermark="false">;
    </documenttype>
Restart or Open Dreamweaver and you shouldn’t have any problems with PHTML files any longer.

I have seen a good solution at http://webdesignsolutions.co.in/add-phtml-extension-in-dreamweaver , this is very simple.

  • How can I open a cfm file in Dreamweaver CC using a Mac? Added to the Extensions.txt. Getting error adding to preferences-- file types.

I am trying to open Cold Fusion files using Dreamweaver CC. We've never had a problem with the versions before the Cloud. My co-worker can open using a PC, but I'm using a Mac. I can connect to the server and see the files, but when I open, it opens the file in text editor. I have tried adding the extensions to the Extensions.txt file (they weren't there previously), editing the MMDocumentTypes.xml file (the file type WAS in that file), adding to the Preferences-->File Types/Editors (I can add the extension, but when I try to choose Dreamweaver CC as the editor, I get an error "You cannot use Adobe Dreamweaver CC as an external editor. Please choose a different application."). When I right-click the file, I do not see an "Open With" option, only "Open".  Does anyone know of another trick that could make Dreamweaver CC more than an HTML editor for Mac?  I cannot us CF Builder - no approval for loading the extra files server-side to use that IDE.

    Have you tried these suggestions...
Open ColdFusion documents in Dreamweaver CC

  • Can't edit .html file in dreamweaver?

Why can't I edit .html file in Dreamweaver CS 5.5 when it is not attached to a template?
I have always been able to edit it every other time I have opened the file (since I built the site over two years ago).
Now each time I try to edit it in Design mode, no matter where I click in the file the whole page gets a dark grey overlay and I can't get a curser.
I am still able to edit the code directly but I do not want to be restricted.
The last thing I did the last time I opened the file was paste Google Analytics code in just before the </head> tag. I did this to all the files on the site but this is the only one that isn't working. I have tried taking out this code but it makes no difference.
I am using a 6 month old Macbook pro.
    Can anyone help me?

In your stylesheet you have -
    .container {    overflow:hidden; width: 100%;}
    .container2 {   overflow:hidden; width: 646px; margin:0 0 10px 0}
Try right clicking on the page in Design view and then selecting Element view > Full and see if that helps.

  • I have a  new iMac   cannot find how to access my files in Dreamweaver

I cannot find how to access my files,  as I am now using Yosemite and it is all a different layout .
can anyone get me started please
Clicking on the cloud icon is no help

Copy the entire /Music/iTunes folder to /Music/ on the new computer.
That is all you need to do.

  • Can't view .swf files in Dreamweaver

I'm using CS3 versions of both Dreamweaver and Flash and when
I import a .swf file into dreamweaver it works perfect locally but
doesn't show at all when I've uploaded the file into my webspace.
What am I doing wrong? I never had this problem when I used the CS2
versions of both software and it's driving me absolutely nuts!!!
Any advice would be most gratefully received.

On the other hand, if it's not working in CS3, then there is
    an error
somewhere, since I know that CS3 does it properly....

  • How Can I Work With PHTML Files In Dreamweaver ??

I want to work with PHTML files in Dreamweaver CS3 - How do I
go about getting this to work?

The solutions is either of the following:
Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders
Copy the photos back into the exact same folder and folder location that they were in before
I don't know what you actually did "when I pasted it back" ... but the bigger issue is that you shouldn't be working with these files in your operating system, period. Once you import them into Lightroom, you don't manage these files in your operating system.

  • Does the new firefox work when previewing files from Dreamweaver?

I use Dreamweaver CS3. I always preview my pages that I build in Firefox. After just downloading the newest firefox version (3.6.10), I could no longer preview files in Dreamweaver. When I go to preview the file, it just opens a firefox the application, not my webpage within firefox. Any ideas? I even edited my browser list within Firefox, removing Firefox as one of my browser options and replacing it again.

Dreamweaver CS3 doesn't work correctly in any Firefox 3.6 version.
There is a fix for Dreamweaver, so it works in Firefox 3.6+ versions:
    http://solutions.marketingmedley.com/
There is a $5.00 fee for that Dreamweaver fix. That website and the fix are not associated with Mozilla in any manner. Support for that fix is provided by that that website via email.

  • Missing Images in swf file in dreamweaver

    Hello,
I was hoping someone could help me. I made a image slide show
in Flash (CS3) and wanted to put in in Dreamweaver (CS3). I
published the file in flash and went over to dreamweaver and did
the insert - media - flash command and added the .swf
When I test the movie, the buttons and the frame shows up but
not the images. Any ideas on why? When I test the html file, it
works fine. When I test the movie its self, it works fine too. Its
only when it is in the Dreamweaver file do the images disappear.
    1. I have the required AC_RunActiveContent.js. file with my
    swf.
    2. I tried copying the code from the html file that was
generated by my swf, but when I test the file in dreamweaver, an
error comes up saying that i need the AC_RunActiveContent.js.
    3. I have flash files on the site that work just fine, it is
just this one that is being stupid. I published it as flash version
    7, 8 and 9. Nothing works.
Thanks for your help in advance!

You haven't told us whether you are using RH for Word or RH HTML to generate your CHM.
Please read Before You Post as it has been written to help you get a quicker reply. I will shortly be travelling and unable to pick up your reply for most of the day so unless anyone else can chip in once you advise us which, there will be a delay in helping you.

Your problem sounds like this one - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/490223?tstart=0 as there the images show in Windows Explorer but not in Project Manager or the WYSIWYG.
    You say
When I generate the chm file there is mentioned that no graphic is loaded.
Do you mean there is an error message? What exactly does it say?

  • EA1 - File Compare With Other File... Does Not Work

  • Insert Photoshop Web Gallery swf file into Dreamweaver

So i tried to take a shortcut, and created a flash photoshop
web gallery and placed the "gallery.swf" file into my html file in
Dreamweaver. However, it is showing a blank white screen (i'm
guessing it can't find the images?) but when I view it on my hard
drive, it is working fine, just not in dreamweaver or any browser,
even after I upload to my server. Any help would be GREATLY
appreciated!! I've also tried pasting the body html code from
"index.htm" that photoshop creates, as well as move my image files
to the root folder where the swf is, but that doesn't work either.
I have my scripts in the same directory, and not in
    subfolders.

    Kizat727 posted in macromedia.dreamweaver:
    > and the link is

That page is very different from the code you posted and I
    know nothing
    about Geoff Stearns' FlashObject code.
For the above link, I see nothing in the source code that
    attempts to
load a .swf file. However, it is linking to
    AC_RunActiveCon.js file in
    the wrong place:
    GET /dyers/assets/flash/pages/AC_RunActiveContent.js HTTP/1.1
    Referer:
    http://www.micromediapubs2.com/dyers/portfolio.html
    HTTP/1.x 404 Not Found
    The file is actually here:
    /dyers/Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js
So if you actually do have a page in the dyers/ folder that
    links to a
.swf file, just make sure the link to the .js file is
    correct.
    Most likely, change this:
    <script src="assets/flash/pages/AC_RunActiveContent.js"
    type="text/javascript"></script>
    to this:
    <script src="Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js"
    type="text/javascript"></script>
