File Content Conversion ( avoid fields in conversion)

Hi all
 An IDoc to File scenario , I am doing file content conversion in receiver File adapter.
my message type for file 2 HEADER each having its own substructure
Like 1header
 fieldA
 2header
 fieldC
 fieldD
I want the "1header and its 1 subelement not be converted in file content conversion" 
because its used for dynamic file name configuration, so i do'nt want it to be written on file.

Yes I know you will get that error. That is the reason why I have told you to add another parameter fixedLengthTooShortHandling as Cut. So add one more parameter in your file receiver communicaion channel: Also I hope ASFD0101 is your strcuture not the field in the strcuture.
ASFD0101.fixedLengthTooShortHandling : Cut
Then I think it should work like a boom.

How to find out if file contents under some document library SPListItem has changed

hi,
I am building a Sync tool which will Sync SharePoint document library to some other service(e.g. FTP). I have added event handlers on the document library for ItemAdded, ItemUpdated etc.. etc.
Now i have one problem, when ever a file is updated (either custom properties and/or file content) then there is no way to check if its updating of content or custom fields. So everytime i need to upload my file to that FTP location. I want to get some indication
that this time file content is updated not the custom fields, or file content with custom fields are updated.
I have checked After and Before properties but its of no use. When ever you rename a file or just open the edit dialogbox and save it without updating any thing, all after and before properties are same :(
Need some solution for this, any help suggestion is appriciated.

File Content Conversion - Key Field Value

Hi Experts,
I am using File to Idoc scenario for my mapping. In the receiver Communication channel, I am using File Content Conversion. My scenario is as follows :
I have a recordset with Header and Line items with Key Field Indicator as 'H' and 'L'. In some cases, the value for this Key Field is coming in as something other than 'H' and 'L'. I need to throw an exception when this Key Field is not 'H' or 'L'.
In the 'Content Conversion' tab, my attributes are as:
Header_Structure.keyFieldValue = 'H' and Line_Structure.keyFieldValue = 'L'. Is there any more attributes that I need to add ?

Key field values for file content conversion at sender communicationchannel

Hi all,
I am working on scenario File to Idoc.In this scenario at the sender side we configure the file content conversion for .CSV file.
In the flat file i am having more than one orders, XI will pick the file and creates a separate Idoc for each sales order at r/3.
We have similar fields "Order Item Number" both header and item.
If we got '00000' on the Header item then it should create a new idoc at the r/3 side other wise it will create line item.
Order item number will be 00000 for header but it will differ from order item to item.

Just check the Content Conversion Parameters- Recordset Structure.
If you have filled in this parameter with
Header,1,Item,1
then change it to
Header,1,Item,3

File Content Conversion some fields are missing

Hello Friends,
I am trying to convert a fixed length flat file to XML.
Here are my parameters
CompanyCodeRecord.fieldNames = field1,field2,....field50
CompanyCodeRecord.fieldFixedLengths = 1,4,15,20...,50 (for all 50 fields)
CompanyCodeRecord.processFieldNames = fromConfiguration
CompanyCodeRecord.lastFieldsOptional = YES
CompanyCodeRecord.endSeparator = nl
If I do not use lastFieldsOptional=YES then the adapter is throwing an exception Error: Conversion of complete file content to XML format failed around position 0 with java.lang.Exception: ERROR converting document line no. 1 according to structure 'CompanyCodeRecord':java.lang.Exception: Consistency error: field(s) missing - specify 'lastFieldsOptional' parameter to allow this
last retry interval started 19:31:08 2005-07-11
If I use lastFieldsOptional=YES then the message does not contain last 8 columns (That means each record is containing only 42 columns).

lastFieldOptioanl parameter specifies whether the last fields can be omitted (YES) or not (NO) in a CSV structure. If you do not make a specification, the default value is NO.
So i think u should use NO in this parameter.

File content conversion Receiver with no key fields

hi all,
I have a header structure with four fields all varying and also item structure with varying fields .. how do i go about to solve this .. as the regular Content Conversion uses key fields.. but there are no such key fields here... kindly help in this regard to proceed

If you dont have a key field, then the only option to read the file and convert it to XML would be in a record row format.
Here each line will go as one field in the XML. You will have to use some logic in your mapping to extract the right field.

but in case your is a receiver File adapter then key fields are not required.

Duplicate field names in File content conversion

Hi,
I need some details for csv to xml file conversion.I have configured the file content conversion adapter for these conversions.In source CSV file we will receive below details in single line.

Now i can successfully generate

Now the issue is customer wants to send 3000 customer number in single file.How to maintain the parameter to duplicate filednames just customer instead of customer1,customer2,customer3 etc...

This can be done if customer sends file like one customer number in one line.please help me how to process multiple customer number in single file separated with comma.

For this what you can do is, create the source and target data types as shown below
Source Data Type
<DTO_Customer>
<Records> 0..unbounded
 <Customers> </Customers>0..1
</Records>
</DTO_Customer>
Target Data Type
<DTI_Customer>
<Records> 0..1
 <Customer> </Customer> 0..unbounded
</Records>
</DTI_Customer>
Now since your data will come in a single string therefore do the FCC in sender channel as shown below
Records.fieldNames = Customers
Records.fieldSeparator = 'nl'
ignoreRecordsetName = true
So by doing this you will get the data into XI mapping in as single string. Now you need to write an UDF which will split this string into individual customers based on your delimiter in the string.
Now map the output of this UDF to <Customer> field.
You may need to do some other small fixes accordingly.
I hope this will solve your problem.

Skip field in file content conversion (file adapter)

hy guys,
I have a log file and want to convert it into xml. that works fine.
the problem is: can I skip some fields that I do not need in the xml with file content conversion
the fields I want to skip are the same in every record of the log file.

Ralf,
You can only ignore lines in the begiining of the file using Document Offset option.
If you have the unwanted field in the end of the record and you are in SPS12 (PI 7.0), you can use the option additionalLasstFields in FCC parameters. have a look into the blog /people/sukumar.natarajan/blog/2007/06/12/content-conversion-in-sender-file-adapter--2-new-useful-parameters
Easier, is to ignore those fields in mapping.
Also, you can try to remove those fields using a shell script which can be called from the File adapter.

In case if H1 and H2 is your record type or line type then to ignore line for this type... just do not handle "keyFieldValue" in the content conversion for H1 and H2 record type.

File Content Conversion. Default Value of beginSeparator

HI All
I have a scenario where i am using file Content Conversion to create a text file.
my structure is as following
MessageTypeName
FirstElement 1..1
SecondElement 1..1
Data 1..Unbounded
In the text file i just need the Content of Data to appear in each row.
So i gave the following CCP
SecondElement.fieldSeparator = 'nl'
SecondElement.endSeparator = 'nl'
But i am getting the first line as a blank line .
I do not need the first line as a blank line. Can someone suggest how to avoid the default blank first line.

Just check the below parameter's defined in the below example.
Below is the example when you have HEADER & ITEM structure.
FCC is case sensitive, give all the names in FCC same as your Data Type.
In Recordset Structure = Header,1,Item,*
Header.fieldFixedLengths = (field lengths) e.g. 1, 4, 7
Header.fixedLengthTooShortHandling=ignore
Header.endSeperator='nl'
Item.fieldFixedLengths = give the item field length as shown above
Item.endSeparator = 'nl'
Item.lastFieldsOptional = YES

FIle Content Conversion Problem in IDOC-XI-File Scenario

I am doing IDOC-XI-FILE scenario.
I am facing one problem related to File Content Coversion.My requirement was to generate a dynamic file like %store_code%_%current_date%_sitemaster.xml , I have completed the dynamic generation successfully .
Now there is slight change in the requirement ,we have to suppress the current_date node of the xml content . i have tried to suppress the current_date using these DATE.fieldFixedLengths 0 , Date.fixedLengthTooShortHandling Cut , But I am unable to suppress it Can some body provide me the details on this .
The output xml version generated by Reciever file adapter is as below :

If u see my earlier reply, I mentioned that u can not suppress the field from the one node.i.e Form SITE_DATA data type u can not suppress the field called CURRENT_DATE.
My suggestion is that , modify the Data type in such a way that you will be having two nodes as I have mentioned earlier. Then use the Suppress Logic for the Current Date.
So it will look like this-

- <ns0:MT_SITE_MASTER xmlns:ns0="http://sample-xitest.com/sitemaster">

So ur SITE_DATA is not having a field called CURRENT_DATE. This field is in separate node (segment ) called CURR_DATE. Now u can use the Suppress Logic for the same like this.
CURR_DATE.fieldFixedLengths - 0
CURR_DATE.fixedLengthTooShortHanling - Cut
And in your Variable Substitution you can use the date from the other segment called CURR_DATE.

As per the client req I'm going with FCC. The file is picking fine with the FILE. But not picking with the FCC.
The parameters which I gave are as follows.
SOURCE I feel it is fine since file is picking fine and keeping the same for FCC also.

Poll Interval -- 10
Processing Mode -- Delete
Empty-File Handling -- Process empty files
CONTENT CONVERSION Parameters
Document Name -- (am giving sender data type name) DT_send
Document NSpace -- http://OTO-Continue.com

Recordset Structure -- SEND,*
Recordset Sequence -- Ascending
Recordset per Message -- 0
And in the table the parameters am settings are
SEND.fieldNames abc,bcd,cde,def,efg,ghk
SEND.fieldFixedLengths 7,7,7,7,7,7 (because each and every field has 7 characters)
SEND.keepIncompleteFields No
SEND.fieldFixedLengthType char
SEND.fieldContentFormatting trim
SEND.fieldEndSeparator 'nl'
This was the configuration. But this is not working I monitored the Communication Channel and file is not reading and not getting deleting.
What actually went wrong in above configuration. Why it is not working.

There is no root node, so in your FCC you need to mention your RecordsetName and you can ignoreRecordSetName in result structure. Check the following blog simulates your requirement.

Problem in file content conversion from XML to CSV

I am finding problem in file content conversion. I need to convert the following XML file into CSV file:

The problem I am facing is while specifying the content conversion parameters in communication channel i dont know what recordset structure i should mention as all the records are directly under root. If I mention recordset structure as "ns0:MT_CROSS_REF" and parameters as
ns0:MT_CROSS_REF.fieldSeparator ,
ns0:MT_CROSS_REF.endSeparator 'nl'
i get error in communication channel monitoring and no file is posted.
Please help me as to what correct parameter i should mention in my case.

Hi Chirag,
I cannot change the xml file as it comes after mapping idoc to a message type. How can I add ROOT in the xml? My message type is like MT_CROSS_REF and it has those 6 fields as in the XML (Update_type, PLU etc.). I do the mapping of these fields from a IDOC and get the XML.

Complex file content conversion in case of CSV file

Hi Friends,
What you see below is generated from Excel i.e excel file saved as CSV file. This file i need to map in XI.
Problem is i have to take only the data and not the header part.
for e.g in this particular line
Employee ID          :,,E00315
I need only E0315 and not the header value. Similarly i have to find some solution to map all the required data.
Please suggest me how to use file content conversion in such scenarios.
Solution is required on top priority. Points will be immdly rewarded.

In this CSV file, what all i need is the value E00315 after the label Employee ID. I used in FCC the parameters u asked me to do. Also in the Document Offset i gave value 3 so that the first three lines are ignored.

But still i am getting the error
Conversion of file content to XML failed at position 0: java.lang.Exception: ERROR converting document line no. 4 according to structure 'tims_header':java.lang.Exception: ERROR in configuration / structure 'tims_header.': More elements in file csv structure than field names specified!
