File Content conversion - IDOC to Fixed length File

Hi,
Scenario : SAP R/3(IDOC) -> XI -> Fixed Length file
IDOC is sending from SAP R/3, XI has to do the mapping and send a Fixed length File to /tmp in XI.
When I am using the message Protocol as "File" in the Receiver communication channel, XML file is writing to /tmp. When I am using "File Content Conversion" as a message protocol,Empty File is writing. Can anybody tell me why empty file is creating. Can we use File content Conversion in this scenario. Is there any additional parameter or settings required?

File type       : Binary
Recordstructure : MT_V_PER01

Is the content conversion parameters i specified enough for that. I wanted to know how would it know the begin of the next recordset(ie the seperation between the two recordsets) .Please help me its vey urgent

Are header 1 fields always going to occur first , then header 2 and so on?
By default file adapters do not support Nested Strcutures and so if the sequence is going to be the same and all of these have an occurence of 1..1 then things will work.
But if there is going to be an occurnece of * then you will need to use KeyFields.

Complex file content conversion in case of CSV file

Hi Friends,
What you see below is generated from Excel i.e excel file saved as CSV file. This file i need to map in XI.
Problem is i have to take only the data and not the header part.
for e.g in this particular line
Employee ID          :,,E00315
I need only E0315 and not the header value. Similarly i have to find some solution to map all the required data.
Please suggest me how to use file content conversion in such scenarios.
Solution is required on top priority. Points will be immdly rewarded.

In this CSV file, what all i need is the value E00315 after the label Employee ID. I used in FCC the parameters u asked me to do. Also in the Document Offset i gave value 3 so that the first three lines are ignored.

But still i am getting the error
Conversion of file content to XML failed at position 0: java.lang.Exception: ERROR converting document line no. 4 according to structure 'tims_header':java.lang.Exception: ERROR in configuration / structure 'tims_header.': More elements in file csv structure than field names specified!

File Content Conversion--- Removing Quotations from csv file

I have a csv file in the folowing format:
field1,field2,field3,field4
"111","222","333","444"
"aaa","bbb","ccc","ddd"
Suppose the header name is row in IR.
While configuring the sender file adapter in XI, i have given following parameters under file content conversion.
row.fieldNames=field1,field2,field3,field4
row.fieldSeparator=","
row.processFieldNames=fromConfiguration
row.beginSeparator="
After picking up the XML file XI processes the data so that we have out put as

My Problem is what parameter should I add in ID to remove this last quote say 444" and ddd" from the XML message ????
I tried using
row.endSeparator=" but it is still giving the same output.

If you specify xml.enclosureSign=u201C and xml.enclosureSignEsc=u201Cu201C, text enclosed in quotation marks is transferred unchanged and the quotation marks are removed.

File Content Conversion in PI 7.1 (file to Proxy)

I am working on a file (text) to Proxy scenario in PI 7.1 version, where I receive the file as shown below
1. Record is header
2. 2nd and 3rd records are Details with the different formats
3. Last Record is trailer
File will have the 2nd and 3rd records sequentially, ex file will have 2nd format, 3rd record format, 2nd record format, 3rd record format, 2nd record format, 3rd record format like that

File Content Conversion - Creating Mulitple structured Flat Files

Hello,
       I am trying to create a flat file using File content Conversion.For simple XML strcutures like

</Header>
   <Item>
   </Item>
<Trailer>
</Trailer>
the file content conversion works fine. But whe the XML structure gets complicated like
<Header>
</Header>
   <Item>
      <Item_Detail>
      </Item_Detail>
   </Item>
<Trailer>
</Trailer>
or
<Header>
</Header>
   <Item>
      <Item_Detail_1>
           <Item_Detail_2>
           </Item_Detail_2>
      </Item_Detail_1>
   </Item>
<Trailer>
</Trailer>
I am not able to create the correct flat file with the Item_Detail information.How can I do the same ?

how to pick this file using FCC from sendere flat file adapter without keyfields , and i can use fixed length also

You can use a work around like this. Create a generic Data Type something like below.
<Message Type>
   <Recordset> - root node
      <ROW> - element with occurence 0..unbounded
Now create an outbound MI with the above MT, in FCC in sender file adapter, give Recordset structure as ROW, *
This way , you will read the entire file inside XI as an XML like below
<ROW> header record </ROW>
<ROW> item record 1 </ROW>
<ROW> item record 2 </ROW>
<ROW>....</ROW>
In XI , since your header row & item rows are fixed length, now, you can use that in a UDF in your message mapping , or parse the xml using DOM parser in Java mapping, you should be good. Hope this helps.

FIle Content Conversion IDOC to Flat file

Dear Experts ,
Getting the below error in the reciever channel . The mapping is generating all the segments in the target structure but when writing to the destination its giving me this error . can some one let me knoe what exactly does this mean [ Column value 'ZXYGRX' too long (>1 for 6. column) ] .

once you have to check the below steps:
first one you have to check lenght of the field "ZXYGRX" .might be the field length is more than specified lenght.
second one is ,value is paaing/not.if there is any empty tag coming from source then target structure tag will not be created and because of which ur payload structure and FCC configuration is not matching.

Fixed Length File attachment to Mail Receiver

Hi,
I have an interface requirement IDOC - PI - Fixed Length File attached to email.
Is it possible to do this? I need to pass the IDOC through a mapping and content conversion to build the fixed length file, I then need to attach this file to an email and send it to a user.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I actually need to convert the IDOC to a different file format before sending it on. Eg.
<IDOC>
     <Segment 1...n>
           <username>User</username>
           <address>Address 1</Address>
     </Segment>
     <Segment>
           <username>User2</username>
           <address>Address 2</Address>
     </Segment>
<IDOC>
Converted to flat file with structure:
User......Address 1.....
User2....Address 2.....
The file needs to have fields of Fixed Length (thats what the .... after each field is to represent)
So I think the Data Type I am using for the file needs to go through Content Conversion to do this change, and then the file attached to an email.
I hope this makes sense.

Trailing spaces problem during file content conversion

I have developed a proxy to file scenario.And am using file content conversion for creating the file. The file is to be a fixed length file.
File Structure
<Header>
<Item>
<Item Trailer>
<File Trailer>
Each tab in the file has the last character mapped to spaces.
Eg: Header00000001 2006011700000000020060<blank   space>
Item00000001        2006011700000000020060<blank   space>
The problem is that during file content conversion. XI does not preserve trailing spaces at the end of the line i.e.if a particular line in the file ends with space. It terminates the line at the last non-space character (in this case at 060).
However we are required to maintain these trailing spaces at the end of each line.
I have tried preserve white space in data type that does not work.
I know that xslt mapping may solve the problem but I am looking for a workaround with my current graphical mapping.
Looking for suggestions !!

Actually if the length of record is less than 1024, rest of the length is being filled with spaces which should not occur.

What do the different content conversion parameters mean?

Hi,
We use the file content convertion to conver the flat file that is text file into XML,
File adapter cant understand the format the file is,so we have to declare the content convertion parameters.
Check some links which will tell how the convertion is done.

Purpose of message protocol file and file content conversion

hi
i am currently working in idoc to file scenario,
In what cases we will go file and file content conversion in message protocol for file adapter.
can anyone specify the real significance of it? bcoz this may help me and continue my scenario in its suitable path.

Hi,
In XI (internal) all XML message are based on the XI Message Protocol.

XI Protocol is nothing but an SAP XI extension of SOAP protocol and SOAP protocol is nothing but a SOAP request in a HTTP protocol. SOAP request is nothing but SOAP extension of an XML message. Hence finally it drill downs to the fact that XI message is in fact an XML message with some extra information in the header which are SAP specific like the SAP Runtime, SAP Hoplist, etc...
File Content Conversion
Integration Engine understands only XML messages.Now if u r handling normal text file such as 'tab separated' file,'# separated' file, or a CSV file, you need to convert the content of the file to XML and File Content Conversion mechanism helps to do this job.This File Content conversion mechanism(option)is present with the File Adapters.both Sender and Receiver.

File Content Conversion. Default Value of beginSeparator

HI All
I have a scenario where i am using file Content Conversion to create a text file.
my structure is as following
MessageTypeName
FirstElement           1..1
SecondElement       1..1
Data               1..Unbounded
In the text file i just need the Content of Data to appear in each row.
So i gave the following CCP
SecondElement.fieldSeparator = 'nl'
SecondElement.endSeparator = 'nl'
But i am getting the first line as a blank line .
I do not need the first line as a blank line. Can someone suggest how to avoid the default blank first line.

Hi,
Just check the below parameter's defined in the below example.
Below is the example when you have HEADER & ITEM structure.
FCC is case sensitive, give all the names in FCC same as your Data Type.
In <b>Recordset Structure</b> = Header,1,Item,*
Header.fieldFixedLengths = (field lengths) e.g. 1, 4, 7
Header.fixedLengthTooShortHandling=ignore
Header.endSeperator='nl'
Item.fieldFixedLengths = give the item field length as shown above
Item.endSeparator = 'nl'
Item.lastFieldsOptional = YES

Sender Adapter File Content Conversion - question

Hi!
Could you help me to make xml-file from csv?
I have file like:
12345#254#9765#89654
55#9066#77127#47
And i need file like:
<dealings>
        <deal>
                <field1>12345</field1>
                <field2>254</field2>
                <field3>9765</field3>
                <field4>89654</field4>
        </deal>
        <deal>
                <field1>55</field1>
                <field2>9066</field2>
                <field3>77127</field3>
                <field4>47</field4>
        </deal>
</dealings>
I haven't key fields - all fields are accidental. And lengths of all fields are accidental.
How to put content conversion parameters?

File content conversion scenario-empty file

Hi all,
I am doing file content conversion for my sender flat file. And I want to generate XML file in my receiver location.When I check with test tab in my message map in IR , no structure gets generated in RESULT.Overalls cenario is working fine and message is processed successfully but empty file is getting generated in target directory.When I check the payload in message content in RWB communication channel monitoring,it's picking data correctly from the file.I am not getting what might have gone wrong with my message mapping in IR. It's not showing any syntax error.Even it's not generating target message structure in Results window of test Messsage mapping.Could you suggest what mistake might be there in message mapping.
