'file could not be written due to an error' when exporting jpg

I'm working with an Illustrator file in CS2 and after a certain point it has started saying 'the file could not be written due to an error' when exporting to a jpg.
i've tried a couple things like deleting layers and although the file is much smaller, it still says the same error when exporting.
at its highest it was 130mb as an illustrator file and jpgs were 2-5mb.
i''ve tried copying some of the layers into a new file but the error report still comes when i'm exporting.
i have vector and raster based data in the file and tried turning off/deleting either of the layers and there is no difference.
i don't understand why it's started doing this because before it had no problem at all exporting before.
ANY IDEAS ANYONE? I'm trying not to have to reproduce days of work to remake the file.

Sounds like you know a good deal about this product. Is there any way to restore a color profile/setting to an earlier point?
I don't recall changing it and to tell you the truth, wouldn't be able to say which it may have been set to before - if different.

Maybe a bit beside the question, but it is always recommended here to open/save from/to own hard disk, and to copy from/to networks and removable media. You may be lucky, at least for a while, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
In addition to the (far greater) risk of file corruption, some issues are mentioned here:

I'm trying to troubleshoot several Illustrator files that won't open on desktops at my company's 2nd office. The files open fine on any desktop at my primary office. When opening the files from the 2nd office, it begins "Reading Illustrator file..." then the message "The file could not be read due to an error" is displayed and the file closes out.
Both offices have the same model desktop and are running:
Adobe Illustrator CS6 (up to date)
Windows 7 x64
Both desktops have the same system fonts and I've tried saving the files locally.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, but I did already try saving the files to the hard disk.

My fix was copying the content of the files into new, blank .ai files. Those new files open from both offices now.
Still, I wish I could have identified the issue in case it happens again. The error message is vague and there isn't much info on the web about it.

From what you have described, it sounds like you are using a alternate print driver rather than the driver for your printer. Please use the HP Print and Scan Wizard to help you troubleshoot this issue.
The Print and Scan Doctor diagnoses and helps resolve common printing, scanning, and connectivity problems, including:

USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.

Hi All,
I have users with a Windows XP client running Office 2003 with the 2007 compatibility pack installed.
The printer is an HP OfficeJet 6500 709a. The user has not experienced any problems printing in the past, and can still print everything except this one Excel Workbook.
It is a 2010 workbook, I have even tried converting the workbook to a 2003 workbook, and I still get the same error.
The error is
Your file could not be printed due to an error on HP OfficeJet 6500 709a on Ne03:. There are several possible reasons:
There may not be enough memory available. Try closing files and programs you aren't using.
If you use a network for printing, there may be a problem with the network connection or the printer driver.
There may be loose cables or a bad connection between your computer and printer.

Like I said the client can print other spread sheets and I can print the workbook from other workstations.
Any advice would be appreciated.

hi, please help! i am having problem with adobe flash player installation, i have read previous discussions to see if that would help, but it was in vain.
i have windows vista 7, (32bit) .
when downloading it gets to 52% completion and then say: "Insufficient permissions to write a file in C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil11g_ActiveX.exe:5,"
I am a system admin and I have all the permissions, i even deleted my standard user, and guest accounts.
from the discussions that i have read, and tried i have noticed that no one have the problem that i have which is: when i go to C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash, the only thing that is there is Flash11e.ocx, which i can't even read. so please if you can please help.
I've had this PC for 2 1/2 years, so its kinda old, and i has gone though alot including being recovered to previous times.

I am getting a "Your file could not be printed due to an error on HP Photosmart C4500 series"

I am getting the above message when trying to print OR SEND PDFs from MS Excel. I have tried uninstalling the product software and reinstalling to no avail. This error did not happen on my XP laptop, but is happening on my new Win 7 laptop.

Using Firefox, Vista Home Operating system, have downloaded flash Player successfully before, but now get this message. My searching arouind for a solution said something about contacting the administrator which of course is me! 2+ year old laptop that has other problems, such as IE has quit working.

I have dowloaded a film to rent. Downloads to iTunes without problem. However it does not transfer to my iPhone.
At first it appeared on iTunes as though it should be on my phone (it definately wasn't).
Apple Support sent me film to download again.

Two possibilities come to mind.
Check your source hard drive for errors, right-click on the drive holding the library, click Properties, tools, check for errors, scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors...
Or...
Repair Security Permissions
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.
If it won't let you change the permissions use the Owner tab to take ownership from an account with administrator privileges.

ITunes could not copy ''file'' because the file could not be written

Recently, I have been experiencing some problems with iTunes and my iPad 2. Whenever I try to sync movies into my iPad, I get the error message ''iTunes could not copy ''file'' because the file could not be written''. This message always appears whenever I try to sync a few movies at once. When I check my iPad after it's synced, I find that a few of my movies successfully sync into my iPad, and can be played. However, some movies show up on my iPad but cannot be played. The video thumbnail just shows a picture of a blank TV screen. Is there any way where I can fix this problem? Thanks.

I was having the same issue with music and movies but it had been ok before. The sync would freeze on a random file and then i had to take out the USB cable to clear it. After trying all sorts of things i saw someone mentioning about Anti virus and firewalls. I am using McAfee so i disabled it as a test. After this i could sync music and movies without issue!!!!! So in my case the firewall/anti virus was causing a problem. McAfee updates itself a lot so I am guessing something has happened in a recent update that impacted iTunes.I am not sure if this kind of thing is also causing your problem but it sounds very familiar.

I have had to format my PC running windows 7, and reset my ipad 1 to factory settings, i then installed latest itunes on the PC authorised the PC and re downloaded several movies via itunes previous purchases, all was well until i tried to sync the ipad to the PC, only some of the movies synced onto the ipad, otheres stalled the sync stating itunes could not copy "name of movie" to the ipad because the file could not be written. Help! Getting error "The file could not be written" when exporting

When I attempt to export a group of approximately 50 photos from LR4, a window opens at the end of the process saying "The file could not be written" along with a list of approximately 10-15 NEF file names. I have never had a problem exporting before, but I recently started storing my LR catalog and files on an external USB 3.0 drive. I'm looking for any suggestions!
Here are the details:
LR4 with latest updates
Win 7 with latest updates
LR catalog and photo files stored on external USB 3.0 G: drive
Trying to export to a folder on my desktop on C: drive (46GB free out of 134GB, solid state drive)
LR files are NEF, exported files are JPG
I've tried to export to the same group of photos multiple times with different names and different output file sizes (8MB, 5MB, 2MB). Each time the list of failures is different.
Some of the thumbnails which appear in Windows Explorer are corrupted (part of the thumbnail is gray)
When I try to export the same group of photos to the external USB 3.0, it works perfectly!

repairing, de - & reinstalling Secude brought no solution. First the pin caching window appears and after entering the error message.

STP render file could not be written

Hi, I'm on STP 3.0.1 and trying edit a sound track that is ~20 min long. All I'm doing is putting together this voiceover track from multiple takes that were captured before and I'm laying them in the timeline, cleaning and doing minor tweaks. It's pretty straight forward. Everything worked fine until half an hour ago. I started getting an error message "render file could not be written". I'm using an external drive (Glyph) which seems to be working fine and I have 1.3 TBytes on it free. I have no idea what's going on. Anyone can help?

Anyway, is the Drive you're saving this to or using for Scratch MacOS Extended, or Fat32 format?
Have you Verified/Repaired all the HDs involved, including your boot drive, (not Permissions, but the Drive Directories)?
Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
