File Directory for Safari

I am trying to move my bookmarks from my old G5 machine (OS 10.4.11) to my new MacPro (OS 10.5). Where is the bookmarks file in 10.4.11 and can it be copied directly to replace the bookmarks file in OS 10.5? I think both machines have Safari 3.

Mapviewer and file directory for apps

Hello,
i have mapviewer 11 EA1 pre-deployed and oracle 10.2 data base. I want to build up a little data mart with an interface to mapviewer to use geographical card material. Every query should be handled inside a browser. So i want to use servlet and jsp.
I've built a jsp which works well within jdeveloper(embedded oc4j client). I can see the card material within the brower. Now my question is where in the file system(windows xp) can i put my jsp and servlet to make queries from inside of a browser and "it runs of its own". If i would use tomcat it's something like localhost:8080/gis but how is it in combination with mapviewer. I don't want to separate the servlets for my data mart and the gis-query. All should be in one directory, naturally with subdirectories.

Files directory for a Labview executable in Windows 7

I'd like to hear some opinions on this and ask what other people do. Most of my programs save data files that need to be accessible to the user, and some of them read text files that have been created by the user, e.g. a file containing a sequence of moves for a robot.
Where's a good place to put those files? In XP you could just stick them in a sub-directory in the application's directory in Program Files. Deprecated I'm sure, but simple. I think Windows 7 gets stroppy if you try to access files in an application's directory, and Windows 8, who knows? I'm pleased to say I've managed to avoid it so far.
Is there a "proper" place to put files that should be accessible to both the application and users? It must be accessible to all users, not just the one who's logged on. I've searched online and found remarkably little information about this.
For the sake of simplicity I'm tempted to just create a directory on the C: drive like C:\My Company\Program Name\. is there anything wrong with that?

Yeah it is a bit more complicated now, but Microsoft tells us it is for the best.
It is pretty common to have a Application.INI in the same directory as your Application.EXE and in the past I'd use that file to hold basic config for my application. You can still do this with LabVIEW but you need to add an extra step in the installer creation which tells Windows that the INI file should be able to be read and written by all users. Just check the Unblock for that file when making an installer.

It's non-standard technically, but it is handy to copy the EXE and config together and move them around and have everything still work, instead of now needing to copy config files to various user app data folders.

I'm not sure about Oracle8i Personal Edition. The default username/passwords are:
scott/tiger
system/manager
sys/change_on_install as sysdba
You could try the database installation discussion forum for more help. If you find out what the password for this dialog is, please post it to this group for the benefit of others.

Antivirus has quarantined files from firefox program files directory as malware

These 3 files have been quarantined as heuristic viruses or Trojans:
libegl.dll
nssdbm3.dll
webapprt-stub.exe
All 3 files are in the program files directory for firefox. After these files were quarantined and I tried to start FF I got error:
Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's file directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix this problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behavior when accessing security features.
Once I click OK it opens FF but it won't open the homepage. I want to be very sure these are actually FF program files and not some virus attempting to wreak havoc on my laptop. thanks.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

Is there a way to open up a directory for static files.

Is there a way to open a specific directory or set of directories up for browsing with WLS 8.1.5 (such as having static .txt,.html files,etc..) without having to deploy some sort of java app to do this.
Basically we need a quick and dirty way to access files sitting on a specific directory on our Web Server machine. Example is there a way to open up just the directory /home/user/files/video for access?

Well in order to host something I can't see you doing it without having to have a web application? So if you do not have a web application you will probably need to do that and deploy the war I guess even if its an empty war. In which case you can set that parameter I posted about earlier to access your folder?

I thought I would post in here because I find I'm wanting this feature more and more over the past year.
This can apply to most of Adobes application but it would be great to see some file management functionality built into the applications themselves. This could then be further expanded in Bridge/Cue to incorporate more applications into the working project but at the very least the application itself the ability to control its own root existence.
On so many occasions I require Illustrators file linking feature to be relative and NOT absolute which it currently is. The only relative capability it has is if ALL the linked assets are in the same local directory as the AI file itself and this as everyone knows breaks the first rule of proper file management.
Many of the projects I work on uses many AI files with sometimes over 50 linked in assets in a variety of different formats from a variety of different clients (locations). I cannot easily move this project folder around without the painful task of linking all the data again and this creates a massive issue.
Ideally an approach similar to Autodesks Maya and Max where you can set project directories. This means all the Save As and other operations will default to that working directory for that file. All linked data will then use the projects working directory as its root and allow the project to move from location to location and not be affected.
This would Im sure benefit many other designers who work on projects with large amounts of data that may not live always in the same spot. For us we work with so many different people during a production that mobility is a must and at the moment we are finding it very difficult.

Physical device of what, and what output am I suppose to get: Nothing, a list with output on where the symlinks lead, something else... In my case I got no output, if that is right, I do not know - since I do not understand what the command do.

DEVNAME: Sets the name of the device. Try:
sed -e 's/[[:space:]=]/_/g' /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon-device/device/name
Does it meen like this - If I during my pwmconfig used hwmon1 wich was coretemp, and hwmon2 wich was nct6775, I should do:
sed -e 's/[[:space:]=]/_/g' /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon1-device/device/name coretemp
sed -e 's/[[:space:]=]/_/g' /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon2-device/device/name nct6775
And that will direct every occurrence of hwmon1 and hwmon2 to the correct sensor chip?

Safari will no longer open. I was using firefox until I could find a fix for safari. I made the mistake of changing my default search to firebox later for convenience and now I can't open my system preference or many safari or apple linked files.

I upgraded my original system from 10.4.11 to I believe 10.6. something about a year or so ago. I thought about re installing my safari app but when I go to open anything connected to safari my screen goes back to the desktop. I cant open any files that I have on my desktop that I set up through safari, like my banking program. Prior to changing system preference to safari default I was able to open those files and now I can't get into change it back. Can you guide me through this?

Try running the 10.6.8 combo update.

System Preferences or Safari Preferences?
Do a backup.
Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Default directory for FIle Manager

Hi,
I am working on file manager for my final year project. I am using jsp, Tomcat and Linux as OS.
The question is,
"Is there any way to authenticate users from OS(linux or windows 2000) and how can i set user home directory(e.g. home/sahsan/) to my file manager default directory"

The file size of selected file in input file control is shown as 0 for multiple file selection in Safari 5.1. If you select single file, then it is able to return file size correctly. However, if you select multiple files, then the file size of each of the selected file is always returned as 0 from javascript. This works correctly in Safari 4.0 but it does not work in Safari 5.1.
How do I get the correct file size in Safari 5.1 ?

If you want to post (or send me) a link to the lrcat file, I'd take a look at it for you, and give you a break-down what's consuming all the bytes. But it might be fun to learn how to do that yourself (e.g. using SQL). I use SQLiteSpy, but other people have their favorites.. (or you can use a command-line client if you prefer..). One way: just run "drop table "{table-name}" on each table then look at filesize (do this to a copy, not the real thing).
Anyway, it's hard to imagine keywords and captions etc. taking much of the space, since even if you had 1000 10-character words of text metadata per photo average that still only adds up to 117MB, which isn't a substantial portion of that 8G you're seeing occupied.
Anyway, if you've painted the heck out of most of them and not cleared dev history, that'll do it - that's where I'd put my money too...
One thing to consider to keep file-size down:

How do I specify the 'My Documents' folder as the sync directory for 'Creative Cloud Files'?

I know how to move the 'Creative Cloud Files' directory within preferences, but when I do this, it simply moves the 'Creative Cloud Files' directory within the 'My Documents' folder. I do not think you can set a specific folder as a 'sync' folder in the preferences. Would creating a symbolic link to the contents of 'My Documents' in 'Creative Cloud Files' directory work to enable the contents of 'My Documents' to sync with the cloud? This is for within Windows 8 BTW...

Yes, I understand this. Perhaps a suggestion then to offer this as a feature in a future update. It would be useful to be able to specify an existing documents directory. For example, I have a couple of years worth of client work (psd, html, tpl files mainly) that would be useful to be able to have synched to the cloud without having to relocate them. I have sites configured in Dreamweaver that if I moved those files to the Creative Cloud folder, I would have to reconfigure all those sites. It would just make management of the various Adobe file types easier to have this option.

Directory for archiving files with errors

My Scenario is file to RFC Asynch.
when ever the PI picks file from the source directory that file need to delete from the path and need to be archived to some other patch.
And if the file has wrong data it need to archive to error archive folder.
For this I used Archive processing in filesender adapter and I also used directory for archiving files with errors(for wrong data files).
Now the files are arching successfully in the given archive folder for successful messages. But the error files (wrong data which are throwing mapping error in MONI) are also archiving in the same archive folder.
But these error files need to archive in error archive folder.
How can I achieve this?

you can use raja's logic ..........in addition in second receiver do a simple mapping UDF to delete the file from the SUCCESS folder. otherwise your file will be archived in both the folder success and errror
