File export and activity template

Hi,
I would like to use a new communication method that creates an xml file.
So I have created a communication medium with a communication method  - file export - and a transaction type - e-mail.
When I run a campaign with this communication medium, then the xml file is created and the activities as well.
So far so good
However I would like to use an activity template so the created activity shows a dummy text instead of nothing at all.
But I can't use an activity template on a file export, probably because file export isn't an activity.
How can I solve this?
Michael

hi shreedhar
for capturing the campaign response u can check ur display contcat list in which u will get the count the number of times the mail form has been actually accepted by the customer.
this way u can test ur campaign execution and for response recording that once u have executed ur campaign ,just set a strategy for ur work that how u want to use that reposne,
ican tell u how i am doing my way in our project, its like that
once the campaign is executed the response of the customets are actually being captured into the mail server and then once all the response are recorded reports are beings prepared on the basis of that data.
this is just the prototype of the process,u can think of ur own strategy and devise a methodology.
regarding the activity template,do one thing create ur new template ,before that go to SPRO and release the template for activity journal
and then go to the activity journal page and create a new activity template where u mention all the things like start date and end date and product info, and then release the template ,this way the template is tored,
then once u r creating ur campaign to be executed u can use that previously made template there.
best regards
ashish

    Ian,
So, in other words, you're saying that it's not possible to export directly objects (like smart albums) that reside outside of projects?
I know, for example, you can "export" anything created inside a folder by dragging and dropping the folder to another library; but you then have to rebuild the library to get the new folder and its contents to be recognized. For my library, this takes too much time to do.

  • Mac OS X Server File Shares and Active Directory Users

About ready to pull my hair out on this one...
We have a department that only uses Macs. At the moment, it's a hodgepodge of different setups. We were able to convince the department to standardize, and purchase a Mac Mini Server. To keep things a bit simpler, we are setting up their department shares on the server as well.
To make my life simpler (or so I thought...) I decided to bind the OS X Server to our AD, and use the AD users/groups to allow access to the shares. The OS X Server app lists all of our AD user and groups, and I can apply them to the shares, however, when we try to access the share, it fails.
I don't think the server is talking to our AD correctly.
I can login to the Mac Server with my network account, my network account works for accessing Server.app, but nothing I've tried will allow our Mac or Windows clients to access the shares with the AD credentials. The log file comes up with:
    mccsrvrmac.mcc.local smbd[441]: check_account - [7]: [permission denied] pam_acct_mgmt
    Also seeing this:
mccsrvrmac.mcc.local kdc[57]: Asked for LKDC, but there is none
A bit of background: We added this Mac to the domain once before, realized that the HDDs weren't setup in a RAID config, so wiped it and reinstalled. I did remove the computer account before rebinding.
    Any help is appreciated!

I figured this out. In Mountain Lion Server, it doesn't matter if you give the user rights to a shared file or folder, if the user doesn't have access the File Sharing service, they can't get it. I had to find the specific users in the Server app under the AD in the Users tab, and give them rights to the File Sharing service. I think you can do this for a whole AD group as well, but I haven't tried.

  • Aperture and Exporting and Compression (and iPhoto)

    Hello All...
I recently imported an aperture project into iPhoto to create a book for a friend. In aperture, the the photos appears as 1536px x 1024px - i.e. perfectly big enough to create a 6" x 8" softback book. However, after the import, some pics appear as 768px x 512, and some as 1024px x 680px. Now, when I load the images into the book template, it says they are to low quality.
Also, when I dragged an image from aperture to the desktop (one that is the mentioned bigger size in aperture) is saved to the desktop as the smaller size. How can I export from Aperture, preferably to iPhoto, in the original, or a big enough, size?!
    Thanks,
    Sam

    Sam
Sounds like you're dragging files from the Media Viewer that shows up when you go File -> Show Aperture Library. This Media Viewer only contains the Previews generated in Aperture. Dragging to the desktop also gets a Preview. To get the full size pics you need to export from Aperture (File -> Export and choose the correct Export settings) and import to iPhoto.

    Please help...

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • File structure and pictures

I had the data from my PC transferred over to the Mac. Photos were in a "My pictures" folder and then I had a number of sub folders by event or year, etc. Now everything seems to be in a folder labeled "iPhoto Library" and when I click on it it opens iPhoto, so I can't really see the files themselves, change file names, set up sub-folders, etc. How am I supposed to manage these files? Do I have to do it through iPhoto? My understanding was that changing names and descriptions in iPhoto doesn't actually change the file name. Additionally, I'm not thrilled with the iPhoto organizes things.

First, change your iPhoto settings so that this doesn't happen again: Go to iPhoto-> Preferences-> Advanced and uncheck Copy items to the iPhoto library. This way, iPhoto leaves your photos alone and you can do whatever you want with them.
That's not quite true... If you rename a file, move it, change the path to it then iPhoto will lose track of it. If you edit it directly instead of via the iPhoto Interface then iPhoto will not know of the changes, and the view in the iPhoto Window will not reflect what you've done. Precisely the only thing that running in the mode (Referenced mode) will do is allow you to see the actual folders of images.
    Other things to consider:
    1. Importing and deleting pics are more complex procedures. You have to to put the files where they will be stored before importing them. When you delete them you'll need to remove the files from the HD yourself.
    2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
    3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
    4. Because iPhoto has no tools for managing Referenced Files, if, for some reason, the path to the photos changes then you could find yourself resolving aliases for +each photo in the Library+ one by one.
    My own opinion:
I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organiser
here's how to get inside the iPhoto Library bundle. Right-click it and choose Show Package Contents. A new window opens with a bunch of folders. That's the iPhoto library. Links to your photos are under Originals.
And here's how to actually +use iPhoto+ to access the images:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
*To use a 3rd Party Editor*
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Note that iPhoto sends a copy+ of the file to Photoshop, so when you save be sure to use the Save command, not Save As... If you use Save As then you're creating a new file and iPhoto has no way of knowing about this new file. iPhoto is preserving your original anyway.

  • Urgent: File export in campaign

    Hi Gurus,
I have created one personalized mail form of type 'export' . I have got the personalized mail form enhanced by creating a new scenario and got it iimplemented using the BADI provided. The requirement was like this :
From  the business partner object we selected the first and the last name.
Then from the structure included using the scenario we are pulling the data of the BP with which the BP has the relationship ' Is Contact Person Of' i.e. the main BP is the contact person and from  their it is picking the BP (Org BP) of which this is the contact person. The details being pulled from the Org BP are name , and address.
This mail form is working perfectly when I am seeing the print preview by providing a BP number of a contact person BP
This BP I assigned to one target group.
Now when I create and execute a campaign with communication channel defined for file export and assign this mail form for export , the file which it is creating in the attachment doesn't have the details of the company BP
    Please HELP
    This is SOS message.
will award points to all helpful answers,
    Thanks ,
    Jai

Thanks Deepak for your quick response. Let me make myself more clear. My issue is like this:-
    1. Our target groups will contain  the 'Contact Persons'
    2. We wanted to create one mail form of type 'file export' in which if we give the number of one BP it gets the name of this BP along with the name and address of the BP of which this is a contact person. ( Address is not maintained for the contact person'  it is maintained only for the comapny BP and is also assigned to the relationship).
3.For this I created one mail form. got this mail form enhanced with one structure from where I am taking the details of the second BP ( i.e. the BP of which the first BP is contact person )
    4. If I see the print preview of this mail form it gives a perfect ouput i.e. the name of contact person along with the name and address of the company
    4. I defined one communication channel for the campaign and assigned the export variant to this.
    5. In my target group I have a BP which is contact person of another BP .
    6. Now when I am trying to execute this campaign by assigning my export form and communication channel , the document which it is generating just shows the details of the first BP i.e. the contact person and not the company BP.
Please let me know what all I need to check

  • File save vs. File export

What is the main difference between these 2 options? I am having this issue...open movie in quicktime, select view > half size, then file > save.
I then load the movie into premiere for editing and it comes in half size. Premiere thinks the movie is half size. However, if I do view > half size, then file > export and then bring it into premiere, it is the correct full size.
At first I thought it was premiere, but i'm starting to think that there is some real difference in file > save as apposed to file > export. Can anyone duplicate this problem or know exactly why this happens?

  • File Export use last usage settings of File Export Wizard

how convert a color photo to grayscale? cs6 fireworks / adobe cloud,...    File > Export use last usage settings of File > Export Wizard???

There are a lot of different ways to create greyscale images. Here are three methods:
Select the bitmap and choose Commands > Creative > Convert to Grayscale.
This is a quick but destructive method, meaning that it modifies your original image. To preserve your original image, you could first make a copy using the Edit > Clone command.
Select the bitmap and apply a Hue/Saturation effect.
This effect can be found in the Properties panel within the Filters menu, under Adjust Color. Set Saturation to -100.
Select the bitmap and apply the Convert to Alpha effect.
This effect can be found in the Properties panel within the Filters menu, under Other. Set the document canvas to White.
At least one of these should work for you.
Unfortunately, I can't quite understand the portion of your question regarding File > Export and the Export Wizard. If English is not your native language, you might try using Google Translate to compose your question.

  • Duplicate files inside and outside of iphoto

    Hi there
When I first set up my new mac I had a folder of about 20Gb of photos organised into different folders, transfered from my old PC. I started to import them into iPhoto one folder at a time. After a couple of folders were imported - each with subfolders mainly organised by year, I realised that iPhoto was duplicating the folders into the iPhoto library. I then changed the import setting to keep the photos in their original location for the import and relocated the remaining photos.
I thought all was well but now I have about 8Gb of duplicated photos; one set inside of iPhoto with metadata, faces, events, locations tagged, rotated and cropped, and the other set out in a central photo storage file just as standard files.
My question is how can I now get rid of the duplicates outside of iphoto so that I only have single versions of the photos, the images inside of iphoto being the master file to keep. Are there any clever programs or is the manual method the only way to go?

You need to decide what app you want to use to manage your photos.
IPhoto and Lightroom (and Apple's Aperture) are all variations on a theme. Though they work in different ways they are all Digital Asset Managers. They all want to import your photos, ”own“ or manage them for you, while also giving you some (in the case of iPhoto) or a whole lot (in the case of Lr or Aperture) processing power as well.
The process you're attempting - where Lightroom and iPhoto share the originals - will not work really.
    Why?
Edits and processing done in Lr will not be available to iPhoto. It simply will not know about changes you make there. So when you go to use these images elsewhere all you will see are the originals or edits you have made via iPhoto.
The reverse is also the case. No edits made in iPhoto will be available in Lr.
This includes metadata like keywords and so on.
For iPhoto to have access to the Lr processed images you will need to export them from Lr and then import them to iPhoto.
My personal suggestion is that you use the more powerful application to manage your pics.
I don't think there's a migration path from iPhoto to Lr. (There is from iPhoto to Aperture). I would suggest that you start over from scratch and export the originals from iPhoto (File -> Export: Kind - Original) and then import to Lr.
There is at least one plug-in that will facilitate moving selected pics from Lr to iPhoto for sharing etc and it can be found here
    http://www.suffix.be/blog/lightroom-iphoto-export
There may be others - Google is your friend
I really dislike the way iPhoto hides all the images making it very difficult to access an image with a different program.
It's not at all difficult. Want to access the images in a Photo Editor?
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
However this will +not work+ for Lightroom as it is not a Photo Editor, as mentioned above.
Other than that, your iPhoto Library is available in every Open... dialogue in the entire OS.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.

  • Premier Pro CC and Media Encoder crashing on long file export.

Please forgive the length of this inquiry. But it is complicated and has a lot of variables.
I have an hour long mixed format timeline both Red 3K footage and Black Magic ProRes 1080P footage that I want to make a DVD from and it takes forever and crashes half way through. I have tried doing it every way possible and the only way I was able to get even a partial export was using the "MPEG 2 DVD" export option in Premier CC. It goes fast at first telling me it will take about 2 hours but even though it starts quickly doing about 15 fps it slows down to less than 1 fps and finally just stops and crashes my Cuda Core enabled Macbook Pro Laptop.
I really don't know who to ask about this since there are so many different variables. I never had a problem like this on my MBP with PP6 on a 4K timeline exporting to DVD or Blue Ray or to H-264 or Even Prores. But I wasn't mixing formats either. But on this project the first 20-30 minutes of footage goes through fine in a couple of hours but something seems to be bogging down the system on longer projects. My work around was to break the project up into multiple exports and combining them on the DVD timeline but I can't do this on every project. I thought maybe it was a corrupted clip somewhere in the timeline but when I broke the timeline up into several parts I had no problems.
I did notice a dramatic variance in the time it took to export footage based on the sequence settings. A one minute timeline comprised Red 3K footage and ProRes 1080P footage Here are some sample export results:
From a Red raw 3K timeline 2880x1620  with 1080P Prores footage upscaled 150%)
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 720x480 format    1:48 Minutes ***
    to .mov  Prores 422HQ  1080P                         22 Minutes
    to .mov H.264  1080P                    22 Minutes
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 1080P                                                22 Minutes
From a 1080P timeline Prores footage at 100%  (Red footage downscaled to 67%)
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 720x480 format                         13 Minutes
    to .mov  Prores 422HQ 1080P                             13 Minutes
    to .mov H.264  1080P                                                             14 Minutes
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 1080P                                                            14 Minutes
Since I am going to DVD,  I chose the fastest option  Red to m2v Mpeg 2 720x480 format which only took 1:48 per minute. Why? I have no idea. Maybe someone here knows the answer. But again these numbers are for a ONE MINUTE clip when I tried to convert the whole hour timeline to  the 720x480.m2v DVD File the Red timeline froze my computer after several hours even though I had set sleep mode to “Never” and turned the display off manually and I had to convert it in multiple chunks. In 20-30 minute chunks it did go fast about 1:48 per minute like the test indicated. But I would like to be able to convert the whole hour and not to have to try to stitch the clips together in my DVD authoring program.
I don’t want to have to avoid using multiple formats on the same timeline or waste time transcoding everything to the same format.
Can anyone give me any suggestions as to why the computer is crashing or bogging down in long exports and what timeline settings I should be using?
I have plenty of room on my Scratch Disk and 8 Gig of RAM and according to my Activity Monitor during the export process  have about 800 Meg of System Memory during export but the CPU Usage is 98% and in my Activity Monitor I see under “Process Name” ImporterRedServer flashing up at the top of the list about every second during export.
Why .720x480 mpeg DVD setting is so much faster than all the other export codecs?
And if there are any other settings I can use to get higher speed exports in HD? 14x1 seems a little slow especially since every time it crashes I have to start over.

    Hi,
Since a long time I did not encounter the crash of Media encoder with
    long file export.
But I take care of a lot of details before the export :
    - clean up Media cache and Media Cache Files within PP CS6 and/or CC,
    - delete all render files with Preview Files,
    - rendering of sequences until the rendering is completed,
    - PP CS6 and/or Pp CC opened during export to AME and/or Encore CS6,
I guessed to leave Adobe but this company remains the last with a
serious authoring software (Encore CS 6).
    I tested :
    - Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro X, both are very good software but
no really authoring software for these video editing softs.
Th only way is to "flood" Adobe with "bug reports" and "wish forms"
which are not very easy to use.
And also to call the Adobe support day by day until they send they
    escalate the bug.

  • Exporting catalog, making changes, then importing catalog does not update file movements and deletions

I export part of my master catalog to a laptop.  I include the image files so I can edit the files at full res.  After managing and editing files I import the catalog back into the master catalog. When importing I check to replace metadata, develop settings and negative files. I have been running some tests to be sure all my work is being captured in the master catalog by this process.  I find that if I change develop settings or photo ratings this is detected when the file is imported and the data in the master catalog is updated properly.  The surprise is that if I delete files or move files among folders in the exported catalog these changes are not detected and these changes are not updated inthe master catalog.  It seems bizarre to me that such changes are not detected but I do not see how to get LR to recognize these changes and include them in the catalog update.  Without this capability I don't see how to use catalogs to move part of a catalog to another computer for edits and file management and then move back to the master catalog.

There are various reasons why Lightroom works this way, but you'll need use pick flags to indicate photos to be deleted, and other metadata like colours or collections.
