File Export is greyed out in after effects

I was working on a movie project to export into flash professional but when
i get to the export function its greyed out....
i've done this action a few days ago and it worked fine now i can't do it.
I thought because i imported different jpegs into the project that maybe this was the problem so i went back to the project which had allowed me to do this in the first place but the export feature was also greyed out...
Anyone?

I tried Selecting one comp, multiple comps
, its just weird...could it be a preferences thing orcomp settings?

  • Edit in Adobe Audition Greyed Out in After Effects CC

The "Edit in Adobe Audition" is greyed out in After Effects CC. I imported an mp3 file into my composition, click on it and the link remains greyed out. The link works fine from Premiere Pro CC to Audtion.
Is there a setting somewhere I need to set?

Figured it out. For whatever reason the .sesx file extension wasn't associated with Adobe Audition on my Windows 7 machine. I changed this by double clicking on an .sesx file and adding the association.

  • File size changing when pass through after effects  (180Mb file goes in and comes out 33GB on export)

im processing a video recorded of an  interview where the lighting was not very good on the interviewee
im brightening up the light on the interviewees face
the file was a 180Mb  H.264 file on import
when i export the file its coming out at 33GB in size.... im not sure why this is
i have chosen the default setting "lossless" as the format for export
i just want the file to export the same size and quality as it was when i imported it
what options should i choose for this?    AE does not seem to tell me how big the end file will be and it takes 1 hour and half to process this 2 minute interview so it will take me an awfull long time to get to the bottom of this if i try by myself
    thanks

It doesn't "increase" the file size. You're making a brand new file.
What you put into After Effects has nothing to do with the resulting file. You can have an AE composition with no footage whatsoever and the resulting file will be much larger than 0!
After Effects works internally with completely uncompressed pixel data, so no matter what you toss into it, it produces whatever you tell it to produce. As Mylenium points out, you made an uncompressed final file.
Your original video file is VERY compressed. So, of COURSE uncompressed video is going to look massive by comparison.
Read Mylenium's link to understand a bit more and go here to learn AE: Getting started with After Effects There are lots of "gotchas" like this that'll bit your butt if you skip this basic training stuff.

  • From FCP timeline...send to soundtrack pro audio file project is greyed out

The send to multi track is not greyed out but that's not what I need.
The stereo audio file is 48KHz and I have 7 tracks of audio in the sequence all of which are stereo except the VO track.
If I use "open in editor" to open a stereo file from the timeline soundtrack only imports one channel.
I'm trying to run these stero audio clips through STP using the waveform editor to quickly analyze and fix the "clicks and pops" also adding a low cut off filter to some of the clips to help eliminate some wind noise.
Seems the only way I can get it to work is to export each clip as an aiff file and then import it to STP, edit non destructively, save as a .stap file and then reimport that .stap file back into FCP........
Any ideas why the "send to STP audio file project" is greyed out? perhaps I have forgotten a preference setting somewhere?
    All help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dave

Hey, Dave. That can happen if you captured your files with two audio tracks instead of a single stereo track. The two channels will show up on two tracks, but they're not actually stereo in the quicktime file.
When you captured, did you click the "OO" button next to the audio channels to link them to stereo? You can look at the contents of the quicktime file with Quicktime Player and see if you've got one audio track with two channels assigned to "left" and "right". If you have some other configuration in the file, check out these old threads for workarounds, or recapture if that's an option.

  • Exporting layers of audio from After Effects  cs6 to Premiere / or Audition? Is this possible?

exporting layers of audio from After Effects  cs6 to Premiere / or Audition? Is this possible?
Help - I have an After effects project with multiple layered files and want to copy these to Premiere / Audition. For example I know if you select multiple video files from After Effects these can be pasted straight into Premiere intact - but this does not work with audio. I want to take existing layered audio files from After Effects to Audition / or Premiere but can't copy and paste - is there a simple solution for this?

Hi thanks Dave for responding - yes that could work as a 'workaround' -  I was hoping there would be a way I can keep the existing independent audio layers and corresponding audio levels from After Effects- in the same way I can copy and paste video files from After Effects to Premiere - rather than exporting a flattened AIFF /WAV from After Effects.
This would then allow me a lot more control working on the final edit - especially as currently a lot of the audio layers overlap. It does seem there is no simple solution for this, so  otherwise I can do what you suggest - and 'stagger all the audio files' in sequence so they do not overlap on the timeline and then when I import the flattened exported AIFF file into Audition/ Premeire / I then can cut it up again and recreate the overlaps. Was hoping there might be a simple copy + paste method or other 'export method' but I guess this is simply not possible. It would save me about 7 hours of work, but not the end of the world I guess
One final point - some of the audio clips are .mp3s but the majority are WAVS, hopefully this should not create any issues on the export.
thanks again for your help, if you or anyone has any other solution pls let me know
    Best

  • Exporting Anamorphic PAL footage to After Effects.

    Hi,
I am exporting my PAL footage to After Effects as DV-PAL Anamorphic. I have tried various compostion settings on After Effects including DV Widescreen but it still imports back into FCP at a different aspect ratio.
Does anyone know what settings I should use?
    Thanks in advance,
    Simon.

    Hi,
Ok I just took a piece of footage out of FCP into AFX comp settings PAL DV/D1 Widescreen 720x576 Aspect ratio 1.42.
I out put from AFX using DV Settings for the render settings and Quicktime DV PAL 48KHz for the output module.
I brought the AFX clip back into FCP on top of the original and did a 50% vertical crop on the clip in the Upper channel they match perfectly!
Not sure if I've done anything different to you but it works for me . . I suppose there is a possibility if you are using any 3rd party filters on the footage it might munge it in someway, if so using the method I used to check conformity you might be able to nudge the clip back to perfect aspect ratio.

  • File Export is grayed out in QuickTime Pro!

I am scheduled to perform some songs on Saturday, so I need to learn them. I planned to purchase the songs through iTunes, but they are available only as video clips--not as audio files. I thought I would buy the videos and export them with QuickTime.
When I noticed that the Export feature was unavailable in the free version of QT, I went to the store to buy the Pro license. I chatted with an online store rep who assured me that I would be able to export the audio from my video clips in .wav format. So I plumped for the $33.
Having upgraded my QT to QT Pro, I now find that File > Export is grayed out. In a separate thread from this forum, I read that it's possible that iTunes video clips cannot be exported due to DRM; I need someone to contradict this and tell me that I can get what I've paid for here.
    Any advice highly appreciated.

As much as I hate to hear that, Kirk, I thank you for the lightning-quick response. At least the mystery is solved.

  • Opening files in a different version of After Effects

Is it possible to open a file that was created in Adobe After Effects CC while working on Adobe After Effects CS6? I know that you usually can't open a file from a newer version of the program on an older version.

    Hi kesstar0629,
    Thanks for contacting adobe forums,
As you know already that we can't open a file from a newer version of the program on an older version.
But you can try to save a copy as CS6 project also in After effects CC.
    Happy Editing,

I installed the CC trial with an error window saying: Could not create the file '/Users/dranim/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/13.2/dummy'.  That was the first window.   Heres the second: After Effects can’t continue: unexpected failure during application startup  I paid for the month subscription of 29.99. It claims it is downloading again?! Am I missing something here? Why is this process so complicated? I need to get this resolved asap and start working.

I originally had Adobe Photoshop Extended, then upgraded to the Production Suite. I ran the Adobe Cleaner, and that uninstalled most Adobe products, including my existing Adobe install, and then I re-installed everything with the same error code. Since CS4 came with CS5, I've installed AE CS4, but would really like to upgrade because I'm new to Creative Suite, and not sure how CS4 integrates with CS5...CS4 After Effects installed perfectly. I do have a 64 bit system, and installing to an OCZ Vertex 2....every other suite installs perfectly, except AE. And I think that is the coolest program in the Suite. I thank you all so much for taking the time to help, I really want to get AECS5 running...I did try to install after doing the recommended items Adobe suggests for Exit Codes 6 and 7, including turning off many startups...
    I'm baffled....

  • After Effects (alert) : Impossible to create the file '/Users/JY/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/13.0/dummy'.

    Hello everybodyI have few problems.
    1. when I try to launch after effects (juste after the installation), I have this message and I don't know how to fix it
After Effects (alert) : Impossible to create the file '/Users/JY/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/13.0/dummy'.
2 I just dowload AE CC 2014 fort the first time and It say to me The trial version is over....
    thank you

if your trial is over, it's over.  there's no easy way to re-start a 30 day trial even if it ends before 30 days, Adobe trial software expired early
if you only had problem 1, you could probably resolve it by right clicking ae and clicking 'run as administrator'.

  • Premiere Degrading Quality (after rendering) of Animation Codec mov's and 4444 Codec mov's, which were made from SWF files, originally exported out of After Effects

I am making a cartoon, which was created in FLASH,
Then the SWF's were put into After Effects and exported out as MOV's. (I've tried both AppleProRes4444 and Animation codecs).
Then I put those Mov's into Premiere. Everything looks crisp until I render. Once rendering is done, the video quality degrades. Here's a screen shot of Premiere:
On the left is the source MOV (exported from AE), on the right is the timeline viewer (after rendering). The quality on the right is degraded. Help?
If I use MP4 versions, exported out of Flash, through Media encoder, quality is not degraded.
    (Read on for additional info)
It was easy and quick to create my MOV's out of AE, which is why I did it this way. I'm exporting to MOV's so I can edit quicker in Premiere. I find editing to sound in AE really difficult, and I don't edit in Flash (employees provide SWF files to me).
Here is sequence settings in Premiere (these setting were created by dragging an MOV into the sequence and choosing "change settings" to match clip settings.
    Help? Please?

  • Pixelated Font out of After Effects and in the FCP timeline

I've posted this questions before, but I'm still having trouble.  I create an animation is After Effects that is composed of a layer Photoshop file.  Looks fine in AE and when I play the exported movie on my desktop. See below.
I put it on the timeline in Final Cut and Voila! this:
The font pixelates.  In addition, I'm getting pixelated font in my layered photoshop files in my timeline.  This is an issue I cannot recall having in the past.
I was advised on my last post for this issue not to use the DV-NTSC codec to export from After Effect but no matter what I use I get the pixelation once I put it in the Final Cut timeline.  So is is possible that the issue lies with something in my layered Photoshop file?  This is ultimately going to play on a 12 foot high screen so there no hiding even a minor lack of quality.  Help!
My After Effects is version 6.0
Thanks for anything you can do!

What are the properties of the clip from Ae?
These are my export choices and I've tried DV-NTSC which matches the final cut settings and under advice from this forum the Uncompressed 10-bit and H.264.  Same pixelated font but only in the FCP timelime.  Plays fine in Quicktime on the deskstop with no pixelation on the font
What are your Sequence settings in FCP?
    DV-NTSC
Did you render the clip on the FCP Timeline?
    Yes, didn't make a difference
The Final Cut Pro canvas shows you a low res proxy. That conserves resources and should not be what you use to determine quality. Export the clip and view it in QuickTime Player 7--Play beautifully....no crappy font.
(not QT X). Make sure QT7 is set to use Hi Quality Playback (in the Preferences dialog). Better yet, view it on a TV set.
Views on the TV as pixelated.
The typeface that you are using. While elegant and pretty, it is very unsuitable for television--Yes, absolutely agree, but it's a client produced photoshop file that matches the invitations for the Gala.  They may allow me to change the font to something close, but even those fonts would probably create the same problem.
Considering using text font in Final Cut to solve the issue, but I just don't want to "say Uncle" just yet.  I would like to figure out the problem.  I feel like I exist in a constant learning curve...just commentary of life in today's world there.
Once again, any suggestions would be appreciated.  Plus I don't understand why my photoshop files look terrible in the timeline as well.  I just haven't had that problem before.
