File format with menus?

I have a project which has videos and images and has a 2 pick menu on the front of it.
I know if I burn it to a DVD the Windows Media Player will display the DVD menu and allow me to select a choice.
My question is, is a DVD my only choice for menu support? Can I output the project to a file that Media Player will display the menu for?
I tried Windows WMV file, and no menu. It just plays the video and images as one long video.
Is there such a thing as a file format that supports a DVD menu?
Bruce.

Bruce,
For what you are wanting to do, I think you'll be better off doing the Web page development in a program, like Dreamweaver, and then linking to a Flash "movie." You can do your editing in PE, for your AV, but the Web stuff is best handled in an HTML creation program. You'll just need to Export your AV in the proper size and format for the embedded player of your choice. That choice might already be made for you, by the Web site's designer.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Is there the way to use "Highlight File Format" with Acrobat Reader 9.0 or later?

    hi
    Do anyone know the way to use "Highlight File Format" with Acrobat Reader 9.0 later or substitutional way to highlight a PDF file as well as highlight file?
    I want to highlight some words by indicating character's location(from n to m) using Acrobat Reader 6, 7, 8, and 9.
    I use highlight xml file to highlight words in Acrobat 6, 7, and 8.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/pdf/pdfs/HighlightFileFormat.pdf
    According to this documents, "External Window Handler Plugin" is required to use highlight file.
    But I cannot find this plugin in Acrobat Reader 9.
    So Acrobat Reader doesn't recognize highlight file.
    Well, I know that there is another way to highlight pdf file. It is called "PDF Open Parameters".
    However this parameters cannot indicate location of characters but words which is to be searched.
    This parameter does not work perfectly to substitute a highlight xml file.
    To satisfy what i want to do, the best solution is that Acrobat Reader 9.0 recognizes highlight xml file.
    But I think it is impossible because of lack of plugin.
    Do anyone know the way to recognize a highlight xml file to 9.0 or another way to highlight some words?
    thanks,
    Asatamax

    The feature is disabled by default in reader 9
    (1) Open Adobe Reader
    (2) Click Edit > Preferences > Search, and
    (3) check the box labelled Enable search highlights from external highlight server.
    (response found here: http://support.dtsearch.com/dts0117.htm)
    I can't imagine why Adobe choose to disable it. It's a bad joke for us at UNESCO (http://unesdoc.unesco.org)

  • Unable to open AutoCAD dwg in 2010 file format with Illustrator 15/CS 5

    Hello,
    We are trying to open some dwg's with illustrator that are saved in the 2010 file format. We get an error "The file "XXXXX.dwg" is an unknown format and cannot be opened.", if we save the same file down to the 2007 format it opens as expected. Try to understand if that format just does not work with Illustrator 15 or if there is a template setting we did or what as it is all dwg's in that file format and as I said same file saved a format down works fine. The issue with tis solution is most of our illustrator users dont' have AutoCAD so this is creating a bottle neck.
    Thanks,
    Tyler

    This is a workaround, but the Dassault Systems ( the company that sells SolidWorks and Catia ) has a free CAD program called DraftSight that will open a
    2010 DWG file. You could then do a SaveAs to an earilier DWG format that AI can work with. They have free versions for both Windows and Mac.
    http://www.3ds.com/products/draftsight/download-draftsight/
    I use the Windows version, and it works pretty good - but my background is more CAD than AI.

  • File Format with payment type

    HI to All,
    there are two types of format one is Payment file and second is Bank Statement in File Format setup..
    So what is the exact meaning of payment file or why we use this in SAP ?
    Thanks & Regards
    Manvendra Singh Niranjan

    Hi Manvendra,
    Payment file is the file you need to send to your bank. Each country may have different formats based on banks' requirements. If your banks support those files, the reconciliation with bank will become much easier.
    Thanks,

  • Keyword file format with {synonyms} is too finicky

    I just created a 4000 term keyword file, hierarchically organized.  i used excel to create the organization.  this was not an easy task because it seems that lightroom requires a file organized to look like this
    main keyword
                   subkeyword
                             subsubkeyword {synonym}
    main keyword2
                   subkeyword2
                        subsubkeyword2
                             subsubsubsubkeyword {synonym}
    etc
    my original excel file looked like this
    main keyword        subkeyword          subsubkeyword                                        {synonym}
    main keyword2      subkeyword2       subsubkeyword2 subsubsubkeyword {synonym2}
    It was not easy to get all of the synonyms lined up with the final subkeyword, because the hierarchy length varied.  I couldnt just remove repeated tabs because the keywords had to have repeated tabs to end up at the right level.
    it would be great if lightroom could use a more standard spreadsheet format.  Of course, perhaps there is a simpler way that i am overlooking.

    the problem was not so much converting from columns to rows which can be done using sequence numbers and copying and deleting as needed.  the problem is in moving the synonyms so that there are not duplicate tabs between the last keyword and the synonyms.  If i understand correctly the synonyms have to be on the same line as the last subkeyword and with only one tab between keyword and synonyms.  i wrote some formulas that did this but it was only a partially automated method and very messy.
    As you say, the format is a poor one.

  • Batch Rename - Two File Formats with Same Name

    Hi everyone!
    I'm having troubles using the batch rename function i Bridge CS5.
    I've got several pictures that I've captured in both jpeg and raw. When importing the pics with windows photo import they get the same name. This means that I've got one JPG and one RAW file which contains the "same" picture, and have same name as shown below:
    What I would like to do is to rename the pictures, but still have Bridge name the same pictures with the same name as shown below:
         IMG_1268.CR2          ->          Picture 2011 - 0001
         IMG_1268.JPG          ->          Picture 2011 - 0001
         IMG_1269.CR2          ->          Picture 2011 - 0002
         IMG_1269.JPG          ->          Picture 2011 - 0002
    Is this even possible? And if possible, how?
    Thanks in advance
    Martin

    Most things are possible and so is this..
    Make sure you do a test first by copying the files to a temp folder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    First copy the script below and paste it into ExtendScript Toolkit (this gets installed with Photoshop)
    #target bridge
    var sels = app.document.selections;
    for(var a in sels){
    var f = decodeURI(sels[a].spec.name);
    var newName = "Picture 2011 - "+ zeroPad((f.match(/\d{4}/)[0]-1267).toString(),4)+ f.match(/\....$/);
    sels[a].spec.rename(newName);
    function zeroPad(n, s) {
       n = n.toString();
       while (n.length < s)  n = '0' + n;
       return n;
    Now open Bridge and select the files you want to rename, then run the above script from ExtendScript Toolkit.

  • Standardize a flat file format w.r.t OWB

    Hi Pat,
    or anyone,
    Can u help me to standardize a flat file format with respect to OWB?
    I have 15 financial source systems. The client agreed in giving the data in csv format. Now I need to standardize the feed file so that it would be easy for me handle it in OWB. Please note depending on my standardization the client would give me the data and in turn it would be easy for me to handle it OWB External Tables. The records size for a single feed file is 1 million. So my questions are
    1.How should I standardize a date field in flat file?. Please note target date field is default date in Oracle.
    2.How should I standardize an address field? I.e. normally here I have 3 address fields. But I want the output in 1 field. What is the best possible methodology to do this? Or can I handle this issue in OWB front.
    3.How should I standardize a feed file name (generic)?
    4.How should I standardize a feed file folder (generic)? Please note the folder will reside in UNIX environment. The concept is, there would be respective folders in UNIX and the feed files would automatically fall into these respective folders in a fortnight basis. So what should I do to achieve this? I know I have to write a shell script for the automatic process. If so how will I do this and schedule it.
    5.And w.r.t above question, how will I tell OWB to go and fetch the files in those folders. I know it is done while mapping. But my question is Is that the only best way I can achieve it?
    6.If I left anything related to feed file, please tell me?
    Please note that based on my standardization, the client would extract the data and give it to me. So if I standardize the feed file which would be easy for me to handle it in OWB, then that would be a great success. And also note this is for a long run. Minimum 10 years.
    Regards,
    rem.

    Good afternoon Rem,
    It's all very theoretical indeed, talking about standards and all. I'll try to answer some of your questions according to my experiences.
    @1, Usually we load flat files into external tables using varchar2-fields only, occasionally number fields; dates however are always loaded into varchar2's and then when reading the external table into the staging area they are converted to Oracle dates using a simple TO_DATE transformation.
    @2, I don't think there's a real standard for that, it should simply meet YOUR needs, so when loading EXT into STG simply perform a transformation concatenating those 3 fields to form one.
    @5, you have to register the location where you have defined your flat files, this should be some Unix location; after that the connector between EXT and STG will know what to do when running the mappings from EXT to STG (thus: no other action is needed to 'tell OWB' where to fetch data from flat files).
    As far as I know there a no standards in naming conventions for files and folders, just go with what seems logical/practical in your situation.

  • Adding phone file format

    in cm6
    i was able to add group of phones using the builtin excel and export to csv on bat.
    i noticed that the csv text file can be seen on ADD FILE FORMAT with the FORMAT FILE NAME HAVING 2 options (default and simple)
    i didnt do anything on this but as i said i was able to insert the group of phones.
    just want to know what is the purpose of going to that procedure of adding file format..
    thanks

    Hi Celso,
    These relationships are nicely explained in this doc;
    Using a Text Editor to Create the CSV Data File for Phones
    You can create the CSV data file by using lines of ASCII text with values separated by commas. The comma separated values (CSV) file provides textual information in tabular form.
    Use one of these file format options to identify the device and line fields within the CSV data file:
    •Default Phone-Contains a predetermined set of phone device and line fields.
    •Simple Phone-Contains basic device and line fields for phones.
    •Custom-Contains device and line fields that you choose and order yourself.
    You cannot modify or delete the Simple Phone or Default Phone file formats.
    Note: When you use the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Bulk Administration (BAT) spreadsheet to create the CSV data file, you can create the file format within the spreadsheet. When you use a text editor to create the CSV data file, you need to create a file format or use the simple or default file format. You enter the values in the text-based file in the same order as specified in the file format.

    Hi, amantia and costicladop —
    amantia, welcome to Apple Discussions!
    There are various options to accomplish your objective.
    OnyX 1.6.5 (a free utility) and Cocktail 3.6.5 ($14.95 shareware utility) offer the option to change graphic file format with a "single click" — in OnyX »» Appearance »» Screen Capture and Cocktail »» Interface »» Misc. »» Screenshot file format, respectively.
    They're both just implementing Terminal commands — which provide another option.
    bmp, gif, jpg, jpg-2000, pdf, photoshop, pict, png, sgi, tga, and tiff options are available in both utilities.
    Hope this helps . . .

  • HT2479 My camcorder produces m2ts format movies, can I import this file format to my iMac?

    I'm looking to take the leap into Mac ownership but hit a problem today - my camcorder movies (m2ts format) look like they aren't supported by Apple.  I have about 70 gb worth of movies and I'm concerned with the things I've read concerning the topic, namely that it's not straight forward to use this file format with iMovie.  Does anyone have any advice to offer, perhaps being a similar situation? I'm not 100% sure that I'm correct about the incompatibility, I've found it hard to find a straight answer on the web - one confused, hopeful mac owner!........

    Actually, AVCHDs load into Premiere Elements EASIER THAN mjpegs because the program is designed to use them (as long as you set up your project with a project preset that matches your AVCHD source specs).
    Version 9 will even edit AVCHDs natively. That means that you don't have to render them before you edit them, as you did in earlier versions (including version 9). If you're going to edit AVCHDs, you really should get version 9. It handles them much more effciently.
    But regardless, you won't see jitter related to the source files. Not with AVCHDs, if your project is set up properly.
    You WILL however, need a powerful computer. At least a quad core or i7 computer. Otherwise the program will work very slowly.
    The best advice for creating a DVD is to output your finished AVCHD video first using Share/To Computer/AVI using the DV settings. Then open a new project set up for DV, load the AVI to your timeline and output your DVD from there (using Share/To Disc). This will give you a sharper final video and will save you hours of rendering time.

  • Want to open Kodak Photo CD files (.PCD) in Photoshop CS5.  In CS4 i copied file "Photo CD.8BI"  from an older version into the File Format folder.  This does not work with CS5.  Any fix?

    I have several old Kodak Photo CD with PCD image files.  I am now using Photoshop CS5.  Some years ago while using Photoshop CS4 I copied a file:  "Photo CD.8BI" from an older, CS2, version to the Plug-ins/File Format folder of CS4.  This does not appear to work with CS5.  Any fix?

    It can be made to work, but you have to run the 32 bit version of Photoshop CS5, and as I recall there's an additional DLL called pcdlib32.dll that's needed from the old installation.
