File formats import export

Hi everyone
I am still not 100% clear on the formats used by LR.
I import my Nikon Raw files & convert to DNG. In LR I can do capture sharpening & most processing needed to most files.
Using DNG format LR stores any data with the DNG & no sidecar files.
So LR treats all formats the same, DNG or Tif or PND. If I need to export to CS3 apply an action and bring it back into LR then this is no longer a DNG but a Tif which is saved with my DNG.
So at this point my Tif is for final output via a printer, the DNG is my image negative for posible future use.
Why can't I export the DNG, apply the action in CS3 & then bring it back into the LR catalogue ?
Roy

Because CS3 is a pixel editor and LR is non destructive, parametric editing. Tifs are what CS3 can send back to LR. If you want to write your editing non destructively back to a RAW format, directly back to NEFs, the only app that you can do that in is NX2. You could convert your Tif to Dng if you want, and that way you would not have a sidecar if you did further editing to the Tif in LR.

  • What exact file format for exporting AVCHD to HDD of Sony HDR-SR12E (AVCHD) Handycam?

When you are finished editing AVCHD files with Adobe Premiere Elements 11, what is the correct file format for exporting back to the hard drive of the Sony HDR-SR12E handycam?
I used Sony Play Memories software to import AVCHD (.m2Ts) files at 1920x1080i PAL resolution. I tried rendering to several file formats after editing, but the files could not be exported in high definition back to the hard drive of the AVCHD camera.
I WAS able to import files from camera in Play Memories and then export them straight back to camera WITHOUT any editing, but of course you wouldn't bother doing this normally.
I grew to love using Premiere Elements 10 for editing sd footage from my mini dv camera. However,  I've just purchased the AVCHD handycam and expect to receive my newly purchased copy of Premiere Elements 11 in a couple of days.
Can anybody suggest the correct file format to produce for exporting AVCHD footage edited in PE11 originally captured on the Sony HDR-SR12E back to the camera?
    - Regards, Phil

    Phil
Premiere Elements 10 has the Share/Tape (Record to DV). And, even that is for just DV, not HDV. There is no such choice in Premiere Elements 11 and 12.
So, you are going to have to match up the properties of the original with Export settings and try to get the file exported onto the camera's hard drive if that is possible. Does the Sony user guide give instructions for how to import one of your video to its hard drive?
The theory depends on how close you want the export of the edit to match the camera's original. There is no .m2ts file extension in any of the Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD choices. If the .m2ts file extension is a must..
One scheme to get a AVCHD.m2ts 1920 x 1080i25 for your camera's hard drive - lots of ifs
    1. Publish+Share/Disc/AVCHD and burn to folder using presets = H.264 1920 x 1080i PAL Dolby.
(The preset cannot be customized so you will go with the Adobe bitrate.for the preset)
    2. Then go to the folder saved to the computer's hard drive, open the BDMV Folder, then the STREAM Folder of the BDMV Folder, and use the 00000.m2ts file there as your file destined for your camera's hard drive.
If the hard drive will accept ..m2t, then you could use Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets = M2T - H.264 1920 x 1080i25 and customize the export settings under the Advanced Tab/Video Tab and Audio Tab.
Please review and then let us know if any of this works for you.
    Thanks.

Oh, baby! This bad boy flies!! Here's what to expect:
I had 40,000 images in Aperture 3 and it was dog slow at everything. I installed 3.1 update today. It took 5 minutes to update the database and then behaved marginally better than before at ASIC library navigation. I was disappointed.
Then I QUIT the app. It took a couple of hours to "update files for sharing" with a counter that went to 110,000 images. So it must have updated every thumbnail and variation of preview. Turned it back on , and BAM. Came up fully in seconds. Paused for 10 seconds ten everything was lickrty split. For the first time ever, I can use the Projects view with all 791 projects and scroll quickly. I even put it in photos modevand whipped thru all 49,000 images!
Haven't done anybprocessing yet, but i'm liking it!!

  • Flat file format - importing vs typing it out

Hi.  I've heard there is a way to import the format (rather that typing it out in connection mgr) of a fixed width flat file.  What r the general steps or where is there a set of instructions online?  I generally have a txt doc with column
names (lots of them) , widths etc that I would use for import and could easily transfer them to a spreadsheet if necessary.   So far the word import is bringing up a lot of unwanted subject matter in my web searches.   I am spending a lot
of time typing out flat file formats in conn mgrs and am thinking it may be worth a look at ssis's ability to "import" a format.   We generally land our data in "untyped" staging tables 1st so ssis could assume everything is string.
I dont really want to read my records as one long string and parse them later.

thx.   I suppose I can write and share with the community some general t-sql that generates the following but would like to know a couple of things.
First, is any old guid ok in each of the places where a guid is indicated?  I would generate a new one for each guid.
Second, what is the locale id?
Of course i would only paste the results in a pkg (dtsx file) that doesnt reference the cols (beyond the connection stuff) yet.
What gotchtyas am I looking at if i try this with the intention of pasting the generated code over the top of what ssis already generated (inside the dtsx file) in a one column connector created the usual way?

  • File Format for export from Ciscoworks to ACS

    Hi,
I want to export devices from Ciscoworks lms 3.2 to ACS 4.1 with the cli-tool
    dcrcli expAcs
But, what is the file format I have to use
lsattr gives me just the complete list of all cs-attributes
    thanks, William

If you do not specify the file name,
–In Non-ACS mode all the devices from DCR will be exported to the specified server.
–In ACS mode, only the devices that are not configured in ACS will be exported from DCR to the specified server.
The file format is the same as when you export the devices from DCR.  If you perform an export to a CSV for example, the tool will use that last file unless another file is specified.

  • Colours trouble with a psd file after import/export through Lightroom 4

I'm working with CS5, and I just bought LR4. I took a psd file (in Adobe 98 space) and I imported it in LR 4, and the exported as psd file in Adobe 98 colour space. Both files, the original one and the other after import/export, are quite different. The saturation of the res is not the same... When I repeat this experinece with a psd file in sRGB or in Prophoto, I have no difference betwwen both files.
I then conclude that LR doesn't recognize the adobe 98 pprofile of my psd file.
Is that normal, have you tried this experience, is there a bug in LR or a bug in the way, I proceed?
    Best regards

When you import there is an Advanced button in one of the dialogs. Click that and you will be able to Paginate against chosen styles. That will break your document into topics.

  • Fastest file format for Export in Lightroom? [Need quickest lossless workflow.]

I am currently using TIFF 8-bit LZW compression, but its still REALLY slow. About 10 seconds per photo.
I forgot to set the RAW file size in my camera to S-RAW to make it just a bit bigget than the 1080P footage I will later output them to.
I was wondering if there was a file format that was lossless but is quickest to export to from lightroom.?
    Thanks!

9X% of the time is for converting the raw to rgb, and only 0X% for encoding the rgb for final output format. So, the answer to your question is:
there is no fastest format for exporting.
If you want quick lossless exports, the only solution I know of is to adopt a 2-stage pipeline:
    * Apply baseline adjustments to raw (e.g. white-balance, lens corrections, noise reduction, "capture" sharpening), and export 16-bit tiff back to catalog (hopefully, this is only done once, or at least very infrequently).
    * Apply further adjustments to tiff.
The tiff will export faster than the raw, since it has the benefit of starting with already rendered RGB data.
Far from ideal, I know, and personally - I wouldn't bother. But it's the best I got for ya...
If you want quick lossy exports, then use PreviewExporter.

  • Disable Rpt file format from export options

    Hi all,
I would like to know if there is a way to remove/hide/disbale  export to Crystal Report (Rpt) file format  from the list when u run a report in the  Crystal Reports.com ?
    Thankyou

    Hello,
You are correct.  Non-administrator users will not be able to download an rpt file from crystalreports.com if that checkbox on the report's properties page is unchecked.  As a side note - this checkbox also appears on the report upload page if you want to enable download right from the beginning.
Users will still be able to export the report to other formats like PDF or word though.  We do not have a way to block that yet.
This checkbox is only available for report documents since the very nature of PDF or office documents involves users downloading them to be able to view them.
    Cheers,
    Steve

  • Which File Format Imports Faster

Hi there, I'm making an acting demo reel and have ripped some footage from DVDs and have found imovie HD (5) quite slow at importing these files. I have tried .mp4 and .mov and am wondering, of all the video file formats that imovie will import is there a specific format or encoder used that will import faster than the others? Thanks!

DV is iMovie's native format and imports about as fast as a file copy. Note that DV is 13GB per hour.
(Everything else you import into iMovie is converted to DV, that's why it takes time.)

  • How to Choose File format of Exported Clip

I needed a clip from my movie for use in Live Type so I created Sub Clip from a longer duration clip and then exported it as QT movie. Or I thought I was doing that but the only choice of format I was given was .dv. How do you choose .mov or other format from the Export to QT menu choice?

    Hi(Bonjour)
Set in and out points in timeline (after your subclip was placed in it).
Choose export to quicktime with conversion. Select mov, and under video, select animation codec.

    HI All,

  • What's the best file format for exporting to web?

Hey Everyone- I design Hot Rods using an older CS3 version of Illustrator. The art board is 16x20".  When I print I use Walmart's photo lab and with an exported jpeg file at 150 dpi the print looks crisp and nice and highly detailed. When I save a file for emailing proofs to clients or posting on car forums, I have been exporting the file as 72 dpi at 10" wide. When I do this the art often looks a bit blurry and not near as crisp as the vector file.
I have to have the files viewable via the internet, this is how I do all my marketing for new customers. They need to be relatively low in file size to load quickly in forums and such. What's the best way to accomplish this without losing resolution quality?
Below is an example. This one turned out ok,  but some detail gets lost between the vector file viewed at the same size and the web based jpeg.
Thanks in advance for any insight!

    HRD,
You may use PDF for proof and anything else but web/screen use, for unlimited crispness and smoothness.
For web and the like, the obvious way may be PNG24 with transpanency at exactly the same size in pixels x pixels that it is being shown at, and with Art Optimized ticked in the Image Size window. That should give crisper images than JPEG.

  • How to get the Path of the Current File using Import & Export File -Reg.

    Dear all,
I have a mega (big) doubt. I have manually inserted the Figures from the figure folders. Now i need, fully automated. So How can I get the Figure path
    Example :
    PMString path = "E://development/Figures/";
now i checked, How many subFolders is there in "path", get the All Subfolders and check to the Article Name.
    Example
Article Name == subFolder name then get the Files from the SubFolders(E://development/Figures/ChapterF/*.eps files").
now I paste the Document using to For Loop.
Please any one can suggest me, How can We get the Path in SDK.
    Note:
Should I have to create the relative path by myself?
No method supplied in SDK to do this directly?
Please I need a help of this Query as soon as posible.

When a file is uploaded, the file name is also submitted. The path of the file is available only to the machine within the Local Machine security zone. The value property returns only the file name to machines outside the Local Machine security zone. See About URL Security Zones for more information on security zones.
i need to know on how to get the compelete path /directory of the filename
using <input type="file"> tag You can't. Its a security thing.
is there any other way to get an input file from a local host aside from <input type="file"> tag?No. Not using just html.
You could always go into activex components, but thats different again.

  • Export file formats from flash?

Hi, I have an issue concearning existing file formats for export in Flash CS4.
According to the user's manual in Italian I have found, http://help.adobe.com/it_IT/Flash/10.0_UsingFlash/WS0E26E472-1533-4297-A904-59476E8E1935.h tml
available formts include EPS and AI.
As far as AI is concearned, I have this option but exported AI files are hard to open in Illustrator, since a number of problems appear.
If I separate all groups in Flash and then export to AI format, Illustrator finally opens the AI file, but changing the colours and the shape of my design.
Moreover, no dialogue box for Illustrator version options appear when I choose AI for export, as is described in the support page.
As to EPS file format, it is not in the export file dialogue box, the formats I have are JPG, PNG, GIF, EMF, WMF, BMP.
My point is that I draw in Flash, then I need to export the designs in Illustrator for print optimization, but the content changes dramatically, if I actually can open the files.
    Caould anyone help me?
    Silvia

I am unsure about the Illustrator export, as I have never needed to do this, nor do I have CS4.
The EPS reads as a printer option, not an export one:
"An EPS file can be printed with a PostScript printer. ... This format has no definable export options"

  • Flat file formats

What are the flat files formats accepted for import and export in mdm?
How MDM recognize the document type/mapping to perform of incoming file (file name, folder) ?
What are the flat file format for export (delimited, structured, XML) ?
Does MDM handle Header in a flat file (import and export) ?
Does MDM handle several line definition in a flat file (import and export) ?

    Hi Joesph,
Here are answers to your questions:
<b>Ans 1--></b> As previously told by adhappan ,you can import data using import manager from the following formats:
    Access--Means From  microsoft access
Excel -- From an excel file
ODBC--this is generally used to import data from a  flat file.BY flat file i mean to say a tab comma seperated "csv " file or a ".txt "file.
Port--to import data from a port .In mdm, port actually refers to a directrory
    XML--from an xml file
XML Schema-- this is used when you try to import data from a file whosr structure you have predefined in console using an xsd file.
<b>Ans 2--></b> we specify the file format while connecting to source by mentioning it in the <b>type</b> properties.and mapping is performed in the import manager in the map value tab.
<b>Ans 3--></b>When you import or export a flat file then data in the first  line of file is considered as header.
<b>Ans 4 --></b> As i previously told ,MDM will handle header.
<b> Ans 5 --></b>MDM does not handle several line definition of header.
Hope it will help you.<b> Please remark if it really helped you</b>.
    Thanks,
