File icons grayed out

I installed Leopard and when I go to folders with MS Word and Adobe Reader icons they show up for a second or so in their normal icons and then the icons gray out. I called Tech Support and did Disk Utility Repair and an Archive and Install, didn't help.
Any suggestions?
Andrew

I got the answer in the Logic Pro forum.

Make sure that MMS is turned on in settings and your account with the carrier is provisioned for MMS. If it is, then try a reset on the iPhone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. That will restart the phone. See if it is there after that.

  • Process Multiple Files jpegs grayed out

Process Multiple Files in Photoshop Elements 10 for Mac OS 10.9.2 worked on several folders of jpegs then stopped working. Any folder that contains jpegs has the jpeg files grayed out. I get the error message, "The source folder you have selected is empty." However I can work on the jpeg files in that folder if I do it one at a time. I tried quitting the program then going back in and still I get the same error message.

    R_Kelly
The folder I was trying to process was in another folder with a
backslash in the name. Once I removed the backslash, Process Multiple
Files worked again. Thanks for the quick response and the helpful hint.
    Sincerely,

  • All the files are grayed out in iTunes

My iPod died a few days ago and it was replaced (5G 30GB). I’ve connected the new one to iTunes on my computer (WinXP pro) and all the files seemed to transfer correctly to the new iPod. In iTunes, however, it you select the iPod on the left, all the files are grayed out and you can’t click on them. With my old iPod you could. I also noticed a little locked symbol down at the bottom to the right of where it shows you how much space is left on your iPod hard drive. I’m guessing that the new iPod drive is somehow locked. I can’t find anything in iTunes that controls this. Is there a way to unlock the iPod drive so you can click on the ipod files in iTunes?
    Asus P4C800   Windows XP Pro

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. For more detail see this tutorial: Managing Your Songs Manually
One thing to be aware of with manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • Creative Cloud icon grayed out in menu bar.

Creative Cloud icon grayed out in menu bar.
Pulldown shows no apps or updates at all.
    Have restarted a few times.
I did recently restore my system from a Time Machine backup.
    Any help?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Abstract Truth,
I would recommend trying to uninstall and reinstall the Creative Cloud app, I suspect the Time Machine backup may have somehow affected the installation.
Quit the Creative Cloud app, run the uninstaller in the Creative Cloud folder in Applications, and then reinstall it from Download Center at https://creative.adobe.com/products
    Hope that helps,

  • Why is my Excel Icon grayed-out in 10g

    Hello,
I am working with BI Discoverer 10.1.0.2 Olap on Windows XP with Excel 2003, and for some reason, the excel icon on the right side of the toolbar is grayed-out. Can anyone tell me why, and how to fix it.
    Thanks,
    Carl

Sooner than later - is all I can say now.
However, there is a workaround available:
"The Export to Excel and Export to HTM actually produce the exact same file (the only difference is which application Discoverer Plus OLAP uses when auto-launching the exported file). So to solve this, simply Export to *.htm and then open the file using Excel (even Excel 2003)"

  • Padlock icon grayed out

Whenever I go to a secure web page the padlock icon in the upper right corner is always grayed out instead of being displayed in black. Bug?

    Hi Carl
I suspect that when you hover the mouse over the padlock it does not lighten in color nor is it active (you ought to be able to click on it to reveal the security certificate supporting the secured page.
Those certificates are retained in your Keychains folder. If the above is true, via the Finder, go to the Applications>Utilities folder and open Keychain Access. Once open, go to the Keychain Menu and select Keychain First Aid. Select the "repair " function. When done, close Keychain Access and restart Safari. Enter the URL for a secured site. Any change?
If not, quit Safari. Back to the Finder. Your User Account>Library>Preferences folder. There, move the com.apple.safari.plist file to the desktop, then restart Safari. This resets your Safari Preferences to their default setting. Try the secured site again. If no go, quit Safari and move that file on the desktop back to its original location, replacing the newly created one.

  • Wi-Fi icon grayed out "No Wi-Fi"

I just got my 16gb Iphone 4. I set up my Wi-Fi and used it for a while. Then I noticed the next day that my connection had switched to 3G and when I went back into settings the Wi-Fi icon was grayed out (cannot click on it) with the message "No Wi-Fi".
In Settings > General > About: Wi-Fi address comes up as "N/A". I have tried to Reset Network Settings, Restart the phone several times and also do a 'soft' reset by holding down the power key and the menu button together.
Nothing seems to work however. Any ideas?

Follow the steps and action outlined by Apple here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559.
Note that repair of your iPhone might be required.

  • Icons grayed out in SAP R/3 GUI iview

The problem is when some people run the SAP R/3 GUI iview from EP5 and EP6,
some of the icons are grayed out, such as the "create new session" icon,
although you can create a new session from the system menu.  When I run the
iview, I see all icons as active, none are grayed out.  Why the difference
and what can I change so that all icons are active (not grayed out)for all people?

    Hi,
I too have the same issue even with EP 7.0. Is there any solution or patch available for this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Can't select videos for upload. All files are grayed out.

Ever since Safari 8, I am no longer able to upload videos to places like Amazon (for submitting video reviews.)
When I write a review on Amazon and choose Video Review as the review type, then click on the "Choose file" button, the files listied in the file selection window that opens are all grayed out. None can be selected. This only happens in Safari. I can use Chrome and Firefox with no problems.
    Anyone else seen this?
Any ideas how to get this working?
I've reported it as a bug to Apple a month ago and was hoping the recent 10.10.2 Yosemite update would fix it but it didn't.

I see what you mean Michael ..
Might be a cookies, cache, extensions, or plug-ins issue.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:   Remove All Website Data
    Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, from the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

  • Distiller Pro 9 Icon grayed out

I just bought Acrobat Distiller Pro 9. Acrobat is working but the distiller isn't. The icon is grayed out. What could be the probelm? Also, when I go to print in Indesign, the ppd should have distiller but there is not option for it. I am using Windows XP Pro.

The printer will not be listed as Distiller. That ended after AA5. Look for the Adobe PDF printer.
What Icon do you mean, in the programs menu or what? If it is on a menu in an application some place that is a different issue. It may be grayed out if you are talking about PDF Maker in OFFICE products and it can not find the Adobe PDF printer. Then it is a printer issue.
