File Info CS2

I use File Info on my MacBook Pro OS 10.5.8 to catalogue photos for publications. In File Info, in the Author field there are quote marks ( "    ")
If I use the drop down to add my name, it adds it after the quote marks: "        ", Axle Phtographer. How to remove the quote marks...forever?
Thanks

I actually have never seen the quote marks you refer to it must be a corruption or a save preferences or setting of some kind.
Did you try to reset your preferences?

  • Custom File Info Panel CS2- CS4

    I have a Custom File Info Panel that has been created in Adobe Photoshop CS2 and works in CS3.  I am having trouble figuring out how to get it to work in CS4.  Is there a way to port the Custom File Info Panel into CS4 without entirely recreating it?
    I am seeing references to FileInfo SDK and creating a new Flex UI but I can't seem to find a definitive method on this pre-CS4 File Info Panel to the new UI - and I am in unfamiliar territory.
    Any assistance or points in the proper direction would be most helpful.
    UPDATE:  Answering at least some of my own questions, I have followed the procedure here:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/gunar/2008/11/customizing_metadata_ui_in_cs4.html
    I am still having some trouble with a couple of the unique properties but I expect that they will be typos... I hope...
    Any good reference information is still welcome.

    Thank you for suggesting the PS Scripting forum but I think the next stop might be the XMP SDK Forum as there are a few similar questions there such as http://forums.adobe.com/thread/540397.  But before I go impolitely cross-posting...
    I've had some success and it appears that my custom file info metadata edited and saved in CS2 is now visible in CS4 and the reverse is also true - metadata edited and saved in CS4 is visible in CS2.  This was built using the Generic Panel from the SDK according to the instructions shown at the link in my original post.
    The only problem is that the external application that relies on the custom metadata doesn't see the CS4 version of the metadata.  I suspect that this is just some general namespace issue.  Perhaps if an XMP expert would be willing to comment on the conversion of the Custom Info Panel based on the following single portion of the metadata to see if I am doing it correctly - I would very much appreciate it.
    In the CS2 Custom Info Panel XML I have this field:
    <panel title="$$$/CustomPanels/XYZ/PanelName=XYZCorp Graphics MetaData" version="1" type="custom_panel">
      group(placement: place_row, spacing: gSpace, horizontal: align_fill, vertical: align_top, reverse: rtl_aware)
      static_text(name: '$$$/CustomPanels/XYZ/fullName=Full Name/Title of Graphic', font: font_big_right, vertical: align_center);
      cat_container_edit_text(xmp_ns_prefix: 'xyzcorp', xmp_namespace: 'xyzcorp', xmp_path: 'FullName', container_type: seq_struct, horizontal: align_fill);
      mru_popup(xmp_ns_prefix: 'twcable', xmp_path: 'FullName', no_check: true, vertical: align_top, container_type: seq_struct, mru_append: true);
      <!-- many more fields -->
    </panel>
    In my CS4 properties.xml the corresponding field:
    <xmp_definitions xmlns:ui="http://ns.adobe.com/xmp/fileinfo/ui/">
    <xmp_schema prefix="custom" namespace="xyzcorp" label="$$$/Custom/Schema/Label=XYZCorp Graphics MetaData" description="$$$/Custom/Schema/Description=CS4 Version of XYZCorp MetaData Custom Panel.">
        <!-- simple properties -->
       <xmp_property name="FullName" category="external" label="$$$/Custom/Property/FullName_Label=Full Name/Title of Graphic:" type="seq" element_type="text"/>
    <!-- many other properties -->
    <ui:separator/>
    </xmp_schema>
    </xmp_definitions>
    It seems that the following CS2 => CS4 translations should be true:
    "xmp_namespace" => xmp_schema namespace property (in this case "xyzcorp")
    "xmp_path" => xmp_property name property (for this one property, "FullName")
    is there another translation that I am missing?  I am betting it has something to do with the CS2 "xmp_ns_prefix" but I am not entirely sure how to map this.  Also perhaps something in manifest.xml (though it didn't seem like it)?
    Many thank you's to anyone that can offer words of wisdom.

  • Photoshop CS2 File Info Templates fill in all pages, not just it's own

    I just purchased an Acer Laptop computer, has an AMD 64x2 Dual Core Processor, 2GB of DDR2 Ram, 160GB hard drive with Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled. I'm not sure how any of this could be of any help, though.
    I've just installed Photoshop CS2, Neat image noise remover, Nik sharpener, and Huey pro calibrator on it.
    This is to be a second computer to a Dell desktop, that will be used when out of town and we want to work on our images.
    Today we opened Photoshop CS2 and tried to work on some Raw images. We were just going to crop them and fill in the File Info on them then save them to jpeg.
    The cropping went fine. When we tried to enter file info and save the Metadata Templates we had trouble. There are 7 of 12 different pages of info that can be changed, the other 5 can't be, I think. Anyway, we were filling in the Description, IPTC Contact, ITPC Content, IPTC Image and IPTC Status pages. We saved the IPTC Contact page as a Metadata Template.
    The first image went fine, but when we opened other images, and typed in the information it all changed back to the information on the first image we did when the saved Contact template was used. When we saved the IPTC template for the first image it save the information on all of the pages, not just the Contact page. When we realized this, I started playing around with it and whatever template was saved last will give you all the information typed in on all pages that was there when that template was saved. I also checked the Photoshop CS2 installed on the Dell Desk Top and it is working correctly. We have templates for Description, IPTC Contact, and IPTC Image saved on it. These will give you the information on the individual page not all.
    Why would it be doing this on the Laptop and more importantly, how can I fix it?
    I sure hope this makes sense and do apologize for the length of it. Thanks in advance for any help I can get. Linda

    I was having a similar problem - I was saving an SVG from Illustrator, only to find that when I tried to open it or place it back in Illustrator, I got the error "This SVG is Invalid. Validate it before opening."
    You can run the SVG through the W3C validator, remove all the parts causing errors using a simple text editor like Notepad, and then Illustrator should be able to open it. This is a laborious process though if you have a lot of SVGs to save.
    After a discussion with Apple support, I learned that it was actually one of my graphics in the Illustrator file that was causing the issue. I had placed an SVG I received from a co-worker, changed the colors, and was trying to save it as an SVG again, but for some reason I kept getting that error, even when I tried save other icons/layers in the same document. When I deleted the two layers that were corrupt, the Save As SVG worked perfectly, no errors when opening the file.
    I don't know details, but if you are getting this error, try the Flatten Transparency thing like witkacy suggests. If you're still having problems, it may be caused by an SVG you placed in your file. After a little bit of trial and error, you may be able to find the culprit. You may then have to re-create the graphic yourself (like I did). Converting it to outlines or a shape or something may work as well, but I'm not sure.
    Hope this helps someone else!

  • How to make my old file info panel from photoshop work in xmp

    Help. Not a photoshop guy but rather a genealogist. Many years ago downloaded a custom file info panel for photoshop which I used to enter meta text about the family photos I scanned. Currently using adobe creative cloud but cant figure out how to use panel or see most of my metatext last few version. Below is information about the panel. All I really want to do is install my panel and get back to genealogy. I apologize but not sure I need to understand the basics of photoshop..

    This is the authors description of the panel:
    Genealogy Photo (Private Collection) Custom File Info Panel 1.0 for Photoshop. 11 FEB 2007

    Please contact me to suggest improvements.
    1. BASIS FOR THIS CUSTOM FILE INFO PANEL
    2. DESCRIPTION OF EACH PROPERTY NAME
    3. WHERE EACH PROPERTY NAME MAPS & OTHER NOTES
    4. WHERE TO INSTALL THE CUSTOM FILE INFO PANEL
    1. BASIS FOR THIS CUSTOM FILE INFO PANEL
    The Custom File Info Panel is used to capture metadata about a genealogy/family history photo that is privately held (that is, the photo is not in the possession of a library). The metadata property names on the File Info Panel are based on my interpretation of the recommended primary citation for a photograph (private possession) (annotated, with provenance) as described on page 95 of Elizabeth Shown Mill's "Evidence! Citation & Analysis for the Family Historian" and on my interpretation of recommended primary citation for an Electronic File (Image from Private Files - Annotated), Mills, "Citation!", page 81. I added a few more property names for location and date the photo was taken and keywords (to ID people by number rather than by name), the name of the person who provided the description, a surety for their description, and an informal description. Each field is discussed below.
    2. DESCRIPTION OF EACH PROPERTY NAME
    Date Scanned: This is the date the photo was scanned. Date is populated by Photoshop and is not editable.
    Provider: The owner of the photo as of the date it was scanned. A researcher in a future generations will know who had the photo at a particular point in time.
    Provenance: Describe as best you can how the photo got from the person in the photo to the Provider.
    Description Provided By: List the person who identified the people and location in the image.
    Description Surety: (This is an open text field. You can use any surety rating system you want.) Describe or rate the quality of the Description of the image's people and location. Note any uncertainties regarding any particular people in the photo.
    Complete Subject Description: List the full name of each individual in the image, in order. You may want to list the location and date of the image even though there are separate property names for that data.
    Informal Subject Description: An optional non-genealogical description of the image, perhaps for using the photo outside of genealogy. Example Informal Subject Description: "Grandpa as a young man."
    Media Description: Describe the paper photo you scanned. Dimensions, border, frame, damage, etc. Your ancestors will have an easier time finding the paper photo later if you describe it well!
    Annotations: Copy any annotations on the front or back of the photo and frame. Transcribe any photographer embossing/imprint; this is a clue for dating/locating photos.
    Special Editing/Alterations: Describe any restoration you performed on the digital image. Did you correct for the lateral reverse of a tintype or daguerreotype?
    City/County: List the City/County where the image was taken.
    State: List the State where the image was taken.
    Country: List the County where the image was taken.
    Photo Date: List the date the image was taken.
    Keywords: This is the standard keyword entry. Commas or semicolons can be used to separate keywords. I type the TMG ID number of each person in the photo here so I can search for all photos of the person without typing their name.
    3. WHERE EACH PROPERTY NAME MAPS & OTHER NOTES
    I have not created a working namespace URI or rdf ala http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/ for this panel. I have not created localization dictionary files for this panel. Data entered into the panel will appear in Adobe Bridge. As you can see below I re-used lots of pre-existing property names and dumped all my new property names into the photoshop namespace. I don't know if this approach has drawbacks.
    Date Scanned:                xmp_path: 'CreateDate'   Pre-existing property name
    Provider:    xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'Credit'    Pre-existing property name
    Provenance:    xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'Provenance'
    Description Provided By:  xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'DescriptionProvidedBy'  Pre-existing property name
    Description Surety:   xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'DescriptionSurety'
    Complete Subject Description:   xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'Description'   Pre-existing property name
    Informal Subject Description:  xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'Caption'   Pre-existing property name
    Media Description:   xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'MediaDescription'
    Annotations:     xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'Annotations'
    Special Editing/Alterations:  xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'SpecialEditing'
    City/County:    xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'City'    Pre-existing property name
    State:     xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'State'    Pre-existing property name
    Country:     xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'Country'   Pre-existing property name
    Photo Date:    xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'DateCreated'   Pre-existing property name
    Keywords:               xmp_path: 'Keywords'   Pre-existing property name
    4. WHERE TO INSTALL THE CUSTOM FILE INFO PANEL
    I have tested this panel with Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Bridge CS2 only.  It may not work on earlier versions.  FWIW a malformed Custom File Info Panel will fail to load in File Info; it won't crash Photoshop.
    The following was taken from "XMP Custom Panels," Adobe, Oct 2003.
    Each time an Adobe application opens the File Info dialog, it scans all the files in these directories and appends them to the file list. If more than one of the description files has
    the same panel name, the one found in the last file to be loaded is added, and others are ignored.
    Changes to the contents of the directories do not require you to reload an application; changes are automatically reflected in the dialog the next time it is opened.
    The panel description and localization dictionary files must reside in the following locations for use with Adobe Creative Suite applications:
    Mac OS X
    {Root Volume}/Library/Application Support/Adobe/XMP/Custom File Info Panels
    {Home Directory}/Library/Application/Adobe/XMP/Custom File Info Panels
    Windows
    \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels
    \Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels
    The panel description and localization dictionary files must reside in the following locations for use with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 or 6.0:
    Mac OS X
    {Root Volume}/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Custom File Info Panels
    {Home Directory}/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Custom File Info Panels
    Windows
    \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\\Custom File Info Panels
    \Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Adobe\Custom File Info Panels
    I actually do not understand how to write a panel but here is the actual panel:

    I want to send an email with an attached jpeg. When sending/opening the jpeg in File Info, it shows the make and model of the camera I am using. I do NOT want to include that information. Have tried different things.

  • Photoshop CS5 hangs when accessing File Info.. - Mac

    This happened with both Leopard and Snow Leopard and CS2 works fine. I tried Adobe Support, searched forums, uninstalled and reinstalled, deleted Preferences, removed all third-party Plug-ins and program files are up-to-date. I'd like to upgrade to Mountain Lion but if I need File Info I use CS2 which will cease to work with Mountain Lion.  Has anyone else definitively cured this anomoly if they had it?

    That is normal that the Red X in the top left is not available (that only the Green + button is there). You need to close the File Info window using the OK or Cancel buttons in the lower right.
    Are you able to type anything into any of the fields of File Info? What about in a new, blank file?

  • Custom file info panel visable in bridge?

    I have created a file info panel for CS2 using xml and saved it as a .txt file format. This is now visible and usable in all CS2, can be saved, and is also visible through Portfolio 8. However, I have opened the test file in Bridge and am unable to view any of the given fields I have created.
    Is this at all possible or do I need to place .txt the file somewhere else for Bridge to be able to see it?
    Please help Adobe, you are my only hope.......

    Does file info in CS6 have spell check?
    If so, do I need to enable it?

    CS3 will definately open a cs2 file. Something is not right if it won't.  I have been using illsutrator since CS2 and have not had an issue yet.

  • Opening CS3 Files With CS2

    I am running iMacs (Leopard). I have CS2 on 1 machine, CS3 on the other.
    When I try to open a CS3 file with CS2, I get a long list of extensions/plug ins that need to be updated.
    Where can I find the updates?
    Thanks.

    I assume you're referring to InDesign (please post application specific
    question in the application forums), you'll need to export as INX and
    open that.
    Don't expect perfection.
    You can search the InDesign forums for INX for more info.

  • Noob w/File Info History Question

    Hi....
    Noob to PSE forums. Had an old copy of CS2, used Elements 7 on my daughter's computer, and just recently grabbed Elements 8.
    I love it.
    The question: How do I turn on the history log in the file info tab in Elements 8?
    I need to have my editing steps recorded for a competition website where I participate, and I can't seem to figure out how it's done.
    TIA

    I'm looking to pull the info out of the file info selection in the main menu where it has the tabs for the EXIF info.
    For whatever reason, the history tab is blank. It did bring up the history palette, and the steps are duly recorded, but how does that get into the file info tab?
    File>File info>History is the one I'm looking at.....

  • Batch File Info problem: (CS3)

    As was the case with CS2, when in bridge adding file info. to multiple files, the data entered within Copyright Notice, Copyright Status and Copyright Info URL is shown as entered and correct when checking back the file info. within Bridge - However, if one of those files is then opened in Photoshop and the file info. is checked, the data entered is either incomplete or simply not being shown.
    This occurs when working working on TIFFS. When working with JPEG it does not.
    Process:
    1) Bridge - Adding file info.
    - Select multiple files.
    - Right click > File info
    - Enter file info. data.
    - Click ok.
    2) Bridge - Checking file info.
    - Select one of the files file info. has been applied to.
    - Right click > File info.
    - Check info. panels for correct data.
    - All appears correct and as entered.
    3) Photoshop - Checking file info.
    - Open one of the files file info. has been applied to.
    - Check file info:
    i) Having chosen Copyrighted as the option within Copyright Status, now appears untouched and defaults to Unknown!!
    ii)Data entered within Copyright Notice appears incomplete, showing only the first sentence and a half. (i.e 22 words, 107 characters (no spaces) 128 characters (with spaces))
    iii)Data entered within Copyright Info URL does not appear.
    I figured this would have been sorted for CS3?!
    For me this is a really major issue, your assistance and a fix are desperately, desperately needed.
    Kind regards
    Will

    I am using Vista, but have no problems with opening File Info on multiple files.

  • Maddening File Info Description field behavior

    After switching to CS3 for Mac, on a new MacBook running 10.4.11, I have been experiencing a maddening phenomenon when captioning photos.
    When I write a caption for a photo that contains very similar information to a previous photo, when in the "Description" field of "File Info," I like to click on the triangle next to the field and import the information, thus saving many key strokes.
    But in CS3, unlike CS, whenever there is a comma in the caption, it stops copying the information at the placement of the comma. So, in one of my typical run-on sentences, I have to import and paste several times if there is a comma anywhere in the sentence. That last sentence, for example, would have needed to be imported to the description field in three chunks.
    Has anyone else encountered this? Is this a bug or a feature?
    Help, please!

    It is a known bug from CS2, but apparently ignored while developing CS3. However using Bridge you can select multiple files and using the metadata panel easily add metadata to all and select some or one to add additional data to the file info or other fields. :-)

  • File info templates change creation date

  • How to create a custom panel in the right way (without having an empty panel in the file info) ?

    Hi Everyone
    My name is Daté.
    I'm working in the fashion industry as a designer and Design consultant to help fashion brands improving the design workflow by using Adobe softwares and especially Illustrator.
    I'm not a developper, but i'm very interested about the possibility to introduce xmp technology to provide more DAM workflows in the fashion industry.
    Fashion designers produce a lot of graphical objects in illustrator or Photoshop. Unfortunately they are faced to a big challenge which is about how to manage, search, classify and get this files faster. Of course PDM system or PLM system are used in the Fashion industry to manage data, but for many companies, implemanting this kind of database is very complex.
    When i look at what you can do with xmp, it seems to be an interesting way of managing design files, then i started to follow Adobe instruction to try to build a custom panel.
    The main idea is to (Theory) :
    create custom panels used by fashion designers to classify their design files.
    Use Adobe Bridge to search files, create smart collection to make basic reports in pdf and slideshows
    Find someone to make a script able to export metadata in xml files
    Use indesign and the xml file to generate automatically catalogues or technical sheets based on xmp values
    I have created a custom panel by using the generic panel provided by Adobe and i have modified the fields to feet with the terms used in the fashion industry and it works well.
    But unfortunately, when i try to create my own custom panel from scratch with Flashbuilder (4.6) and the Adobe CSExtensionBuilder_2 (Trial version), it doesn't work!
    Here is the process :
    I have installed flashbuilder 4.6
    I have download the XMP Fileinfo SDK 5.1 and placed the com.adobe.xmp.sdk.fileinfo_fb4_1.1.0.jar in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.6\eclipse\plugins
    In Flashbuilder, i have created a new project and select xmp Custom panel
    The new project is created in flashbuilder with a field with A BASIC Description Field
    To generate the panel, right click the project folder and select xmp / Publish Custom Panel
    The panel is automatically generated in the following folder : C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\XMP\custom file info panels\3.0\panels
      Go to illustrator, Open the file Info
    The panel appears empty
    The others panel are also empty
    The panel is created and automatically placed in the right folder, but when you open it in Illustrator by selecting the File Info option in the File Menu, this custom panel appears empty!!! (only the title of the tab is displayed). This panel also prevent the other panels to be displayed.
    When you delete this custom panels from the folder C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\XMP\custom file info panels\3.0\panels and go back to the File Info, the other panels display their content properly.
    I also try to use the plugin XMP Namespace designer to create my own namespace. this plugin is also able to generate a custom panel, but this one also appears empty in AI or Photoshop.
    I try to follow the process described in Adobe xmp documentation many times, but it didn't works.
    It seems that many peaople have this issue, but i dodn't find a solution in the forum.
    I try to create a trust file (cfg), but it didn't work.
    It would be so kind if you can help me to understand why i can't create a custom panel normally and how to do it in the right way.
    Thanks a lot for your help,
    Best regards,
    Daté

    Hi Sunil,
    After many trial, i realize the problem was not coming from the trust file, but from the way i have created the custom panel.
    There is 2 different ways, the first described below is not working whereas the second is fine :
    METHOD 1 :
    I have downloaded the XMP-Fileinfo-SDK-CS6
    In the XMP-Fileinfo-SDK-CS6 folder, i copied the com.adobe.xmp.sdk.fileinfo_fb4x_1.2.0.jar plugin from the Tools folder and i pasted it in the plugind folder of Flashbuilder 4.6
    The plugin install an XMP project
    In Flashbuilder 4.6 i have created a new project (File / New /Project /XMP/XMP Custom Panel)
    A new xmp project is created in flashbuilder.
    You can publish this project by right clicking the root folder and selecting XMP / Publish Custom Panel
    The custom file info panel is automatically published in the right location which is on Mac : /Users/UserName/Library/Application Support/Adobe/XMP/Custom File Info Panels/3.0 or /Users/UserName/Library/Application Support/Adobe/XMP/Custom File Info Panels/4.0
    Despite the publication of the custom file info panel and the creation of a trust file in the following location : "/Library/Application Support/Macromedia/FlashPlayerTrust", the panel is blank in Illustrator.
    I try this way several times, with no good results.
    METHOD 2 :
    I have installed Adobe CSExtensionBuilder 2.1 in Flash Builder
    In FlashBuilder i have created a new project (File / New /Project /Adobe Creative Suite Extension Builder/XMP Fileinfo Panel Project)
    As the system display a warning about the version of the sdk to use to create correctly a custom file info, I changed the sdk to sdk3.5A
    The warning message is : "XMP FileInfo Panel Projects must be built with Flex 3.3, 3.4 or 3.5 SDK. Building with Flex 4.6.0 SDK may result in runtime errors"
    When i publish this File info panel project (right click the root folder and select Run as / Adobe illustrator), the panel is published correctly.
    The last step is to create the trust file to display the fields in the panel and everything is working fine in Illustrator.
    The second method seems to be the right way.
    For sure something is missing in the first method, and i don't understand the difference between the XMP Custom Panel Project and the XMP Fileinfo Panel Project. Maybe you can explain it to me.
    So what is the best solution ? the right sdk to use acording to the creative suite (the system asks to use 3.3 or 3.5 sdk for custom panels, so why ?)
    I'm agree with Pedro, a step by step tutorial about this will help a lot of peaople, because it's not so easy to understand!!!
    Sunil, as you belong to the staff team, can you tell me if there is  :
    A plugin or a software capable to extract the XMP from llustrator files to generate XML workflows in Indesign to create catalogues
    A plugin to allow indesign to get custom XMP in live caption
    A plugin to allow Bridge to get custom XMP in the Outputmode to make pdf or web galeries from a smart collection
    How can you print the XMP data with the thumbnail of the file ?
    Thanks a lot for your reply.
    Best Regards
    Daté
