File Information

We received an InDesign file from a client that was not packaged. Is there a way to find out some information on who authored the document, what platform it was created on, what version of InDesign (cs2,3,4,5?) ect. There unfortunately is no information in the file information window. Is there any other way to find this stuff out?

The other designer did not embed the image, as would be considered best practice.
The pixelated image, is of course, as anyone capable of "doing it right" knows, InDesign's saved low resolution preview of the image.
Pixal - to be insane with majesty and awe
Pixel - the smallest discrete component of an image or picture on a CRT screen

  • Missing File information

I was trying to make a smart folder to house all the pictures in certain folders that were less than a month old. A bunch of these pictures were taken earlier today. Anyway, The "Created" option wasn't showing anything for the past month and after poking around a bit, I realized by opening the picture file's information window that under "Date Created" it just said "--". I tried to figure out in preferences in the finder but you know how limited those options are. I may not really need to know how to write in missing file information. That would be a bit of a pain. I was wondering where the problem was coming from. Why would my iMac not put a date and time stamp in the file's info when I got it off my camera? I need to make my Mac start doing that.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that I tried "Date Modified" and it worked until I would open one of the files. Once they were closed and you went back to the folder, that file was gone. I'm not really sure why. I feel like there's a simple explanation for this and that I was missing something quite obvious. It's driving me nuts. I can't think of a reason that would happen. I tried everything time related. The key part of this is that I want the files to disappear once they are a certain age (I'm thinking about a month). Without that part of the equation, I don't really have a use for the folder at all. I was thinking for some reason that there was no way for a user to change anything in the file's information manually. The answer I think that would have to occur is to find a way to get my Mac to start stamping the date and time. The only reason I don't think it's the camera is that even if the camera didn't stamp the date and time, the OS should have when it came through. Oh yeah, this isn't a new camera and I have pictures from 3 to 4 months back that were successfully imported with the information. ALl the way back to the earliest image taken with this camera (and I've had this camera for a couple years!).

  • How to change file information in ADE?

I am having trouble loading eBooks into ADE with missing book information. I would like the books to be searchable after they are input into my Nook, but when I load the books into ADE some of the information fields are blank (author, title, etc.). I don't see an "edit file info" button anywhere and when I change the file info in Explorer, it still imports incorrectly. How can I edit file information in ADE so my books can be easily searcheable in my Nook?

    Thank you for advice.
I know that I can create epub files with fonts included in them.
My question was- how to refer in the epub to external font file, that ADE would understand and display,
doing that would let me keep overall file size of my book library significantly less, because I would not need to include same fonts in every book.
I am able to do it on the devices, I am able to do it in Sony Reader Library, but PC version of Adobe Digital Editions does not work the same way. All I need is to  know where to put external fonts on my PC so that I could refer to them from inside the epub and that ADE would find and display them.
Though I do appreciate the attention, I'd double the appreciation if you read the question before offering the answer.

  • Importing file information to QT-files

    Hi
Could somebody save my time, please.
I produce many differend kind of QT-movies from FCP project with Compressor in same session. I like to add some file information like Copyright, producer, owner, etc. (those which you can see in Command-I window's top) to each movie. This info is same to each QT -movie in same project. Is there any way to import some txt file or other to QT-movie files ? It it huge work to write this info in each movie by hand.
    Thanks

    PowerBook 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   FCP5, Compressor 2, QTPRO 7.03

You can use AppleSctipt to add Annotations to QuickTime .mov files. Other formats would require an edit of the droplets found in this collection:
    http://www.apple.com/applescript/quicktime/
An even easier way is to use those already found in the Automator application (Tiger users only).

  • Why is my File Information page blank in Photoshop Elements 13?

I am trying to bring up the File Information tab in PS Elements 13... it comes up absolutely blank with a border around the box showing only the photo number across the top.  HELP!!!!  I need this page desperately and cannot access it.!

    Hi,
Have you tried downloading Photoshop Elements 13 from here?
    https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/photoshop-elements-10-11-downloads.html
There is only one file to download - which one depends on your system (32-bit or 64-bit).
These are the trial versions but will convert to the full version when you supply your serial number.

  • Show files information with JFileChooser

Does anyone know how to use JFileChooser to show files information such as size, type and last modified when mouse moves over the files ?
This function seems to work well with FileDialog class under XP but does not work with JFileChooser.

Revealing hidden files and getting that error are 2 completely different thing. Even though you can't see hidden files in a finder window doesn't mean they are inaccessible to programs and the OS. They are just hidden from view to the user.

Has anyone resolved the problems with using TNSFormat?
As is, I want to move to a shared server setup and to do that I want to use TNSFormat and point to a tns entry which is setup for IPC+Shared connection.
But the Oracle Home that has the Oracle HTTP Server (from the companion CD) does not have SQL*net installed and does not seem to understand TNS.
I have TNS_ADMIN setup, I have ORACLE_HOME_LISTENER poiting to the DB Home.
for the OHS home, using "sqlplus login/pw@ipcshared" works, but "tnsping ipcshared" does not, since tnsping does not exist in the OHS home.
I cannot install SQL*Net from the CD1, since it requires a dedicated/new home and does not want to install in the OHS Home.
The only format that works in a dedicated OHS Home setup is ServiceNameFormat.
Any help or input would be very helpful.
    Regards
ps. This is a redhat linux setup.

  • File information in Elements 9

I can see file info from my D200 in ViewNX2.  After I convert the NEF file to JPEG, I can still see the file information.  However, when I look at it in PSE9, the window comes up but there's nothing in it.  In order to close the window, I have to use excape.  Does anyone have a solution for this?  Thank you.

    Hi,
File Info in Full Edit, I don't use the Organizer.  I don't have the Remove XMP marked.  The window opens, but it's completely blank.  I can still see the information in ViewNX2, but it's a little annoying to go back and forth.  I was wondering if it's because PSE9 doesn't work with the camera, My D40x information works fine in there, the D200 doesn't.  Thanks again!!

  • Problems with File Information and installing Adobe Reader

    Dear Forum,
monthes ago I updated 10.3 to 10.4 now I have 10.4.6. Since the update I have been unable to access file Information (ie, as from key short cut: apple+I). Now I am trying to install Acrobat Reader and I cannot succeed.
Any of you can suggest me what is wrong and what should I do? Possibly without having to reinstall MacOS again?
    Thank for help!
    Marco

Your suggestion of creating a new account was useful for installing acrobat Reader.
If I understand correctly, you were able to install Acrobat Reader while logged into the new account. If so, then the problem's within the old account. Preferential Treatment is at http://homepage.mac.com/jonn8/as/html/pt.html.
my access to the update COMBO is problematic
If you can connect to the internet, get the COMBO update from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1046comboforppc.html; it has nothing to do with the installation disk.

  • Stickie's note file information window.  How do I turn them off?

The Stickies 'note's file information windows' are a nuisance. How do I stop them from appearing? Thanks, Rafael

    2nd response:
These windows /certainly/ don't give information about what stickie can do. Try this. Open a sticky note. type something into it. then hold your cursor over the title bar, maybe m,ove it arfound once. Then wait, it takews a little time. You should then see the window I'm talking about open. I have 5 sticky notes open. I pressed the close button upper left corner on /one/ of them. I am asked, ? Am I sure I want to discard this stickie? No. I press SAVE (Big blue button). Then I go to a window that says export. I choose a folder or create a folder, or just save the thing. It is saved as a text edit (?) file. The only way I can get it back to be a stickie is to select copy paste from text edit file into a new stickie note. I should think Apple would realize that a user doesn't want a date log to come up in front on the stickie every time he's working on a a stickie. To reiterate,
    Rafael

  • Changing file information

    New Mac User here...
I know that on a PC you can change any file information...
for instance...if you want to change a music file's genre, title, etc. you can do so without going into itunes.
i downloaded a song onto my mac and it has all the wrong info (the name of the song is wrong, the genre's wrong) and this is really bothering me. I go to the file and click get info but i can't change anything except the file's extension. if i go to into itunes and click get info on the song i can change anything...but the file info is still the same (wrong title, etc.)
i don't know if that makes any sense...but can anyone help me out?

The only way to edit the id3 tags is with an id3 tag editor. iTunes contains an id3 tag editor and it is used via the iTunes interface. If you edit the song/file on the HD from the Finder 'get info' then all you are changing is the name on the HD.
If you have the 'keep organized' function enabled in iTunes prefs then the name on the HD will be changed to match the name in the iTunes interface.
From iTunes Help Menu using the search tag of 'id3'
    iTunes: Working with ID3 Tags
<This article explains how to update ID3 tags on MP3 files that contain no information, partial, or incorrect information in iTunes.
    Symptom
iTunes contains no information, partial, or incorrect information in some of the fields (Song, Artist, Year, Album, Track Number, Genre)
    Products affected
    iTunes
    Mac OS 9.1
    Mac OS X (all versions)
    Solution
If you want to change information in one of the ID3 Tags fields in the Library or a playlist, follow these steps:
Select a song by clicking it within iTunes. If you wanted to change the info for more than one song (batch), select all of the files you want to have similar information by holding down the Command key, and clicking each song to be changed.
Choose Get Info from the File menu, or use Command-I. This opens the iTunes Song Information window.
    Click the "Tags" tab.
The Song Name field is next to the iTunes MP3 icon.
In the "Tags" window you can make changes to all fields shown.
Note: The Song Name field must contain information. (The Song Name field is located next to the iTunes MP3 icon.)
An alternative is to use a utility such as ID3X.>

  • Automatic file name in InDesign2 file information

Is there any way to automatically add file names to InDesign2 file information (rather than manually typing file names into the file name field each time).
    Thanks

Just an update to my earlier reply. Since you already using the PGP encryption component, just have the following line in the existing component code.
Note: I have updated the code to meet your exact requirement.
    string sReceivedFileName = pInMsg.Context.Read("ReceivedFileName", "http://schemas.microsoft.com/BizTalk/2003/file-properties")
    //write value to context
    inmsg.Context.Write("ReceivedFileName", "http://schemas.microsoft.com/BizTalk/2003/file-properties", System.IO.Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(sReceivedFileName).Replace(".pgp", ""));
This use the following section in the code to meet your requirment and along with this code you still need to use the send port macro as %SourceFileName%.pgp:
    System.IO.Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(sReceivedFileName).Replace(".pgp", "")
If this answers your question please mark it accordingly. If this post is helpful, please vote as helpful by clicking the upward arrow mark next to my reply.
