File is in itunes but won't sync to touch

The file will play in itunes but when I try to move it to the ipod touch it says 'file cannot be read'.  I connected my ipod to my old computer and it works great.  New computer just won't have it.  Any ideas?

Ignore.  I figured it out:)

  • My device is recognized by itunes but won't sync and failed the sync diagnostic test.  I've restarted the computer, reset the ipod . . . nothing works.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

iTunes shows the iPod is connected but doesn't show it in the drop down menu under Devices, and the "sync" option is grayed out, so I can't sync the nano with iTunes.  I ran the diagnostic tests and it shows the device is connected, but it failed the sync test - it said nothing was connected, even though it passed the connectivity test.  We've had the iPod for a few months but this is the first time we've tried to do anything with it.  It's fully charged but just won't sync.  I turned it off, turned it on.  I reset it.  I restarted the computer.  I'm not sure where to go from here.

A couple of things to check:
Are there any backups listed in iTunes/settings/devices? Since backing up is the first step of the sync process, iTunes might be stuck trying to read the content of the last backup in order to replace it with the new one.
Copy the whole backup folder to a safe place, delete the backup from the list afterwards and make sure that the folder has no content after that. The folder is located here:
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files
After that, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose "backup". If you can backup manually, transfer your purchases the same way, to copy apps and purchased media to your iTunes. If this worked, you should be able to sync again.
To speed up the sync process, copy your photos to your computer prior to the sync and delete them on your ipod before you start.

  • ITouch is recognized by iTunes, but won't sync correctly.

Howdy. So, yeah. My ex-boyfriend was trying to make my computer run faster, whom I should never have let touch the thing in the first place, and he ended up deleting my previous computer identity. I still have all my music and freely redownloaded what I was missing. However, when I went to sync, I ran into a problem. My iPod was recognized by iTunes, but when I tried to sync, it just said starting sync for hours, and wouldn't advance after that. It wasn't frozen, because I was able to stop the sync whenever I wanted. So I reinstalled iTunes and I've updated it to the new thing, the 10.1.2... I think that's it. Now my iPod advances past starting sync and goes to preparing sync (step 1 of 1), and then stops and tells me it's ok to unplug it. It didn't transfer or change anything in my iPod. I have the 3rd gen iPod Touch with the 4th gen software downloaded onto it. My computer is a Windows XP. Any and all help is appreciated.

  • Apps in itunes but won't sync to my phone

I upgraded iTunes on my iMac 24 and my iPhone 3g to 3.0. In the process I thought I lost most of my purchased apps. I found them in iTunes in need of upgrades to 3.0 compatibility. After updating them all, they still won't sync to my ipPhone - What gives?

Thanks for replying.  I did a search for TS1414 and it took me to an article that was TS1713 that said old article was TS1414 but it was for MagSafe adapters.
I had followed TS1275 instructions after I got the 4026xxx  error and it had me copy the contents of the backup directory to the desktop.  Is this what you are refferring to ?  If so, then would I restore as new and somehow access that copy of the backup directory?  If so, would you be able to tell me how?  If not, then how do I get my apps, etc back after restoring to new?
    Thanks

  • Do I have to manually download all 322 songs that I purchases from Amazon? They are available in ITunes but won't sync.

I paid Apple for ITunes Match and it has backed up my Amazon mp3 songs
However it will not sync them to my IPhone 5s. I even manually opened the Amazon
Folder so that the songs are found in ITunes but they will not sync. Anyone know of a
Solution other than scrolling through 1600 songs and manually downloading more than
    300 songs?

iTunes will only sync media to an iDevice that is physically on the computer.
The implication is that the media is in fact on the computer, so is that media added to iTunes and is it selected to sync?

  • My alert tones I purchased are on itunes but won't sync back to my iphone.

I tried to uncheck the alerts and then sync... then re-checked them and sync'd again but that only fixed my ringtone problem. Still cant see my alert tones... it's so frustrating to pay .99 for something and have it disappear... They are on my itunes under ringtones... and also in alerts some of my ringtones werent showing up. This happened once before and I re-purchased the alerts but to have them on itunes tells me... there is a way to get them back to my iphone. Can someone help me... I am usually pretty tech savvy but this is perplexing me.

Hope you don't mind me crashing your thread but I've ripped a movie and my DVD settings are the same as yours, I followed instructions on the Handbrake website and my picture settings were 320 x 100 and something (it was widescreen) and it still doesn't work. Says it cannot play on my iPod. It's a MP4 format and the H.264 setting as you have too. Don't know what I did wrong. It plays in iTunes and on Quicktime.
I'm trying to 'convert' it right now in iTunes but not holding my breath

  • AAC m4a podcast - Plays in iTunes, but won't sync to iPod, HELP!

Really confused with what's happening here. The podcast isn't on the iTunes store, so I know it's not guaranteed to work with iPod, but I've never had any problems with m4a or AAC files before, and I know it's supposed to work on iPods, so why wouldn't mine?

As a footnote to your answer I'd like to add the following:
I experiened this exact problem AND I had made sure that the artwok appeared in every entry. The only differrence was that I was saving the artwork to disk, selecting ALL the entries for a specific album, selecting get info (multiple) and then double clicking the artwork field and browsing my hard drive to locate the artwork.
After doing this, the artowrk did appear in ITunes but would not download to the iPod.
My solution was to still pick all the album's songs but rather than search the hard drive for the artwork, I would find it on the web and copy the image (simple copy). After this I would simply paste it in the multi artwork field.
This has worked ever since and will surely cure the above artwork problem.

  • Since ios5 my purchased music is showing on itunes but won't sync to my phone

    Hi
Since dowloading ios 5 I've had loads of sync issues with my iPhone 3GS.
The latest is that any music that I've purchased, though showing and playing in iTunes will not sync to py phone, even though some of it was purchased using my phone.  Any help please?

with your device connected go to iTunes > Music > click the sync music button, see if this helps.

  • Just upgraded to ios 6 and newest itunes (first time for  4g ipod touch I've had for years).  After the restore, it no longer syncs when plugged in. My music is in itunes, but won't sync to my ipod.

Please help.  I finally gave in to updating software because my apps wouldn't update without io5.  I ensured all of my music and apps and pictures were listed on  my iTunes so that when it restored it would all sync back.  Well, my ipod is restored, and my pictures are moved over, but my apps are not.  I guess I can go and re-install individually, but what is the purpose of having them on iTunes??  Also, NONE of my  music is on my ipod and there does not seem to be a way to move it from iTunes.
Also, at the top right of iTunes where it has the spots for Library and iPod Touch.  If I click on the iPod, the icon just disappears!  iTunes used to have a column on the left side that listed my ipod and I could move things to it (like my music).  Is this how the new version is or am I just missing something?
I am so frustrated right now after spending hours....

    Ignore.  I figured it out:)

  • IPod Classic recognized by iTunes, but won't sync? (Windows 8)

iTunes recognizes it and I can go to the menu that displays the filled memory, options (enables disk use, sync only checked songs, etc.), and "sync" button. The iPod screen says that it is connected and charging, and it does not freeze. The computer doesn't have any issues; iTunes (11.0.0.163) doesn't crash or anything.
Everything seems fine, but when I click the "sync" button, nothing happens. I tried changing some settings and hitting "apply" instead to sync it, but that doesn't work either.
My computer is running Windows 8, and I've heard that some people have been having problems with using iTunes on this operating system. The only solution I've found is to make sure disk use is enabled, but that hasn't worked for me (it seems to only apply to newer models of iPod, not my Classic). I honestly don't know what I'll do if Windows 8 is incompatible with Classics because I just spent a lot of money on the iPod and this is the only computer I can use!
I'd love some help with this. Solutions are preferable of course, but even if you can just identify whether this is a problem with me/my computer or with Apple vs Windows, it'd be much appreciated! Thanks

What seems to have worked is checking "manually manage music and videos" and dragging all my music onto my iPod, instead of just letting the normal iTunes sync work.
I'm still upset about this, but as long as I can SOMEHOW get music on my iPod, I can wait until Apple fixes this problem. Which they better do.

  • Tried to sync iPod Touch, noted "new" iTunes. iPod won't sync ("iTunes is unable to load data class information from Sync Services"). Tried the fix, but iTunes hangs when I try to open Preferences.

Just tried to download new audiobooks to my iPod Touch 3, and noted new iTunes. iPod won't sync ("iTunes is unable to load data class information from Sync Services"). Tried to Reset Sync History per Support Article, but it didn't work. My purchased audiobooks are also gone from my iTunes Library.  Any fix, or is my best bet to uninstall new iTunes and reload earlier version??

  • I have downloaded a bunch of CDs into iTunes but they no longer sync with my iPod touch.  They play on the computer but won't sync

I downloaded a bunch of CDs into iTunes but they wont sync withe my itouch.  It used to work but won't anymore.

Thank you all for your replies. Here is what i ended up doing. I cannot afford any 3rd party software so i went to itunes and manually entered all my playlists. As I had indicated my purchased music was on my new computer just not the playlists  and I could not sync my ipod. After I rebuilt all my playlists I tried to restore my ipod to factory defaults/new. All of the steps called for in apple support and elsewhere were not available to me. I connected my ipod, went to my computer, right clicked my ipod, and formatted. That wiped my ipod so when I connected to itunes it then gave me a restore option. I did the restore and all is good in the empire again. I can now buy new music and sync my ipod so I am a happy camper.
    Thanks to all.

ipod nano 5 resets but won't sync with itunes on two different pc's

What happens when you try? Does the iPod even appear in iTunes?  Have you tried a different cable or different USB ports on each PC?

  • Music from Amazon- is in ITunes Library but won't sync/download to IPod

I purchased music from Amazon. It downloaded to ITunes Library but won't sync/download to IPod (Nano 4th gen.) Plays with no problem on my Mac Pro but can't get it downloaded to my IPod. How can I resolve?

If you right click on the song it will give you an option such as Create AAC version or Create mp3 version.
To control what option appears  Preferences, general.
At the bottom right is a button called import settings. This will start another dailog box where you can choose which encoder to use
    Select Mp3 version.
Go back to your song and create an mp3 version and see if that synces
