File Location As Criteria In Smart Search

I'd like to create a smart folder that shows recently opened/created files in my user folder. However, I want to exclude files from my Library folder (various caches, plists, etc.), anything in my Dropbox folder, and anything in my iPhoto Library. I also want include files from specific folders, like subfolders in my Documents folder.
However, I can't seem to find any search criteria based on +where files are located+. Unless I go through and add search criteria for every single folder I want to include in the search, there doesn't seem to be a way to filter out certain locations and folders.
Does anyone know of a way that I can do this?
Thanks!

Yeah. I've been waiting. The item has been available since the inception of spotlight, but it has always had a comment that it could not be used as a criteria in spotlight searches.

  • "Open file location" option from the search window replaces the search window to open the file location

After searching for  some files, when I right click on any file from the search window and click "open file location", the file location is opened in the same search window there by detroying my search. In Vista this option would open the file location in a separate window. This is really annoying if I want to open locations of several files from the search window.

The more thorough explanation of how to do this is right-click the item then CTRL-Left Click "Open file Location". This will open it in a new window.
I agree that Microsoft makes unnecessary changes to the operating system which cause it to behave less productively. The search is an important part of an operating system and Microsoft managed to make it the worst part.
Bring back the XP search option. I'm very sad so see this terribly executed search is still the norm in Windows 8.
To put it bluntly, I don't use Windows by choice, it's my job to deal with it.

  • Windows 8.1 x64 Smart Search Outlook and OneNote 2013(x32) not returning results

Is the 8.1 Smart Search([windows-key]-type)  supposed to return results from Outlook and/or OneNote?
I am using Exchange Cached mode for Outlook if that matters.
I have done the following to try and get results to show up:
control panel...Indexing Options...Advanced...File Types...Index Properties and File Contents
used indexing troubleshooter which found no problems
    control panel...Indexing Options...Advanced...Rebuild...
used scanpst to scan my ost and make repairs.
checked and unchecked Outlook and OneNote within index properties
tried to go to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\username.ost properties...advanced...checked allow this file to have contents indexed. Except the next time i start outlook the check mark goes away.
verified .pst , .ost and .pst files are all in the index service...file types... list
Search within Outlook itself works just fine and quickly, but i would like to be able to search from the "Smart Search".  File name search is flawless.
If it isn't supported, why is it in the indexing options that clearly work for smart search settings because I also added a location for searching where file names search works just fine(although it does seem the contents of excel/word files are
not being indexed, but the index might still be rebuilding)
Any help would keep some hair on my head.
    Thanks

    Hi,
It seems that the smart search can't search the content in outlook and OneNote.
    blogs.technet.com/b/daanish/archive/2014/03/19/windows-8-101-smart-search.aspx
The reason why Outlook and OneNote appears in the Index option tab is that Outlook and OneNote need the Windows search to help index the content in Outlook and OneNote, if we remote the outlook and onenote from Index Option tab, the search function in the
Outlook and OneNote may not works.
Also, smart search main focus on Settings , files, web Images, web Videos which we can select above the search box.  Another reason we suspect the design for this is the consideration for security, if we can search the emails in the smart search, that
maybe some programs can access the content in Outlook and OneNote without authentication .
    Hope the information above help.

  • Criteria in smart collection relevant for non-photo formats?

How does one set criteria when creating smart collection that are relevant for non-photo files (or, better yet, extend it to the full range of metadata in the file info panels).

A collection is just an address of the image.  So if the item has a file location would think you can use it.  Of course metadata has no address.

  • Windows 7 ultimate task manager can not open file location

hi, I just re-installed the Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop several weeks ago, everything goes well until I find this error. When I open Task Manger and right click one process, then an error occurs when I click "Open File Location". It shows as
    "taskmgr.exe
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
There is no any information in the windows event log about this error and I try to search online but without any solution. Could anyone help me figure this out? TIA!

    Hi,
Since it prompts that it is related with file association, you can try fixing it.

  • Crystal Report 2008 - File Locations

I'm running out of space on the OS partition (C drive) and want to change the default location(s) in Crystal Report so when reports are created and run,  they use space on the D drive.

    Hello,
Not exactly clear what you want? Save your reports to your D drive would be my first guess.... If you are referring to the \temp folder then change your system Environment Variable from the default to d:\temp and also change the TMP to d:\Tmp.
You could even set your Swap file to d drive also. I suggest you contact your IT department or search Microsoft's site on how to optimize hard drive space when it's limited. PLEASE back up everything first before making changes to your swap file location, if you don't do it right you may not be able to start windows.
    Thank you

    Hi Lisan,
Which version are you using? Folder strucure differs for 11i and R12 versions.
All the class files will be placed under the JAVA_TOP folder. From there you have to follow your package structure. Here it is oracle/apps/xxogl/f04/cp/file

  • Only two hard drives - optimal file locations?

    Hi,
Can anyone tell what would be the optimal file location configuration (regarding perfomance) when there are only two physical hard drives available? One is abviously running the OS (Windows XP), but how to locate raw images, ACR cache and catalog-files for optimal performance (and are there any other file locations to consider from LR point of view)? The search did not provide answer to this question, and with google everything pretty much boils down to having (at least) three physical hard drives or RAID-array, which are not an option for me.
The workstation can have only two internal drives but allows dedicated controllers for both of them, and I would prefer not to have external drive (only USB2 and FW400 connectors available). Memory is already maxed for the current mother board, and disk activity seems to be next place to optimize. The current performance is "ok", but it would not hurt to squeeze a bit more.
Running Windows XP and LR 2.3.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your advice. It has been quite a pain to find out credible setup hints for simple two drive setup.
This slightly differs from original topic, but...
Have there been more inprovements within 2.4 code than have been mentioned in release notes (e.g. http://thelightroomlab.com/2009/06/lightroom-24-and-adobe-camera-raw-54-available/)? I have currently no need for additional camera support, and the bugs mentiones as "fixed" have not been a problem for me. I have had some cases with inconsistent plug-in behaviour (and few crashes) with export plug-ins, but I have judged those as problems either with SDK or plug-in itself.

  • OAF Page Personalize Page to add a new criteria in Advance Search

    Hi All,
I am new to OAF. I need to add a new criteria (Asset Activity) to the Work Order Advance Search page in EAM module.Asset activity field has to pick from the 'Create Work Order' Form. I can able to identify the CO class associated with this field in the 'Create Work Order' form.
How to achieve this by personalizing the Work Order Advance Search Page.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi All,
I have done the following steps.
    1. From the Work Order Advanced Search Page, clicked on Personalize "Advanced Search".
    2. Created a Criteria Item with ID 'AssetActivityAS' and also created a Message Styled Text under this criteria.
    3. Back to the Advanced Search Page, clicked on 'Personalize Page' page in the bottom.
    4. Create an Advanced Search Mappings with ID 'AssetActivityMap' and Results Item as 'WorkOrdersVO.AssetActivity' and Search Item as 'AssetActivityAS'.
    5. But when I click on Apply, it's throwing the following error.
oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: oracle.adf.mds.exception.MDSRuntimeException: Unable to find component with absolute reference = /oracle/apps/eam/workorder/webui/EAM_EW_START_PAGE.WorkOrdersVO.AssetActivity, XML Path = null. I found WorkOrdersVO(oracle.apps.eam.workorder.server.WorkOrdersVO) from Business Component References Details of About Page: Work Orders.
Am I doing the right steps to add a new search criteria in Advance Search page?
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue?

  • In Spotlight, Why can't I see the file location?

There has been a loss of a feature from 10.6 SL or 10.7 Lion....
When I search for a file in Spotlight, I want to see the file location. Instead, I get the file preview. Is there a way to set a perference so I can actually "find" my file in the folder instead of just viewing it.

    You're welcome!

Hundreds of Identical Files & Folders Show In All Spotlight Searches
    Hi,
I had this issue posted in September and didn't get back to it 'till today so I found it archived. I don't think I got any answers the first time around. When a post is archived, are replies archived also?
    Here's the problem:
Spotlight works for me the way it’s designed to work. It finds what I’m looking for if the item is in the computer.
But what are showing up in most of my searches, are long columns of files, all with the same names, sometimes as many as forty or fifty identical items. These files have the same dates and sizes. Some are located in different folders, including Trash, but most are complete duplicates
I do occasionally save as the same document in different places, or make a duplicate/copy to put in more than one location. But I have never created more than a few duplicates. In Spolight, there are hundreds
    Any suggestions?
    Rafael
    ibook g4 Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I rebooted the machine. Now all the files show up in Finder. But when I repeat the exporting procedure I get the same problems again. Files are not showing up in Finder as they are supposed to.

  • How can i get rid of smart search from safari

Every time that i search on safari or google chrome my search engine comes up to be
    something called smart search?

    Hi!
Please follow the advise given by Linc Davis. It worked for me.
This will be my last comment in the thread, and it's addressed to anyone who has the same problem as the original poster. If you have a different problem, search the site for answered questions similar to yours, and if you don't find a solution that way, start your own thread.
You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow Apple Support's instructions to remove it.
If you have trouble following those instructions, see below.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. This procedure works as of now, as far as I know. It may not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.
The VSearch malware tries to hide itself by varying the names of the files it installs. To remove it, you must first identify the naming pattern.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for two files with names of the form
              com.something.daemon.plist
    and
               com.something.helper.plist
Here something is a variable string of characters, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes it's a meaningless string such as "e8dec5ae7fc75c28" rather than a word. Sometimes the string is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
    /Library/LaunchAgents
In this folder, there may be a file named
              com.something.agent.plist
where the string something is the same as before.
If you feel confident that you've identified the above files, back up all data, then drag just those three files—nothing else—to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the Finder windows and restart the computer.
Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
    Open this folder:
    /Library/Application Support
If it has a subfolder named just
               something
where something is the same string you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
    Finally, in this folder:
    /System/Library/Frameworks
there may an item named exactly
                v.framework
It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name; it doesn't vary. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • Want to change the SQL Server Agent Job History Text Files Location

We have SQL Server 2014 installed on a couple servers, but they were not consistent on directory paths during the installs. I am trying to get the servers to all match.
On one server, SQL Server the Agent Log and Job History files were being written to [H:\Data Root Directory\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log].
I want to change that to [H:\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log] to match the other server.
I have ALREADY gone into SSMS - [SQL Server Agent] - [Properties] and changed the "Error Log " "Fle Name" to [H:\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log\SQLAGENT.OUT].  And that is working great.
In [SQL Server Configuration Manager] - [SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)] - [Properties] - Startup Parameters entries have been changed to the new path (-d, -e, and -l), and under [Advanced] both Data Path and Dump Directory are pointing to the new path.
In [SQL Server Configuration Manager] - [SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)] - [Properties] - [Advanced] Dump Directory is pointing to the new path.
However, the job's History text files are still being written to the old path.
There is no setting in the Jobs or the Maintenance Plans that controls the history file location.
I have searched the registry and changed three settings from the old path to the new path.  The registry does NOT contain any more references to the old path.
I rebooted the server, but when the jobs run their history text files are still be written to the old path.
Does anybody have any ideas??   Thanks

I checked the [Job] - [Step] - [Advanced ] - "Output File", and the field is blank.
I then reviewed all the tabs and left menu items in the Job...I cannot find any where the references the old path.
I then went to the Maintenance Plan and checked every thing there.  Still cannot find what is referencing this old path.
SQL Server is also still writing xel files to this old path...if that offers any clues.
The text file being generated is the recap of the Job run.  Starts with this:
Microsoft(R) Server Maintenance Utility (Unicode) Version 12.0.2430
    Report was generated on "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx".
    Maintenance Plan: SQL_Backups_Log
    Duration: 00:00:03
    Status: Succeeded.

In InDesign when exporting a PDF, there are different icc color profile files to choose from under the "output" section.
Most of the files are located in

But I have one file that I would like to copy to another computer, and I can´t find the darn thing.
Searching the whole mac does not give any results either.
Is there a second location for icc-profile files?
    Anyone?

Hey and thanks for your reply.
Yes, I have installed the driver package with no luck of finding the file on my new computer.
Im not entirely sure if the driver package I installed are the same as on my work computer. But I got the newest from Richo representatives, so its current at least.
I am suspecting the file Im looking for came along with an online update via the App Store. I remember updating Richo something something :/.
Although the drivers are installed on my new computer, I cant fin the file, and I get no update request in App Store. Maybe my new computer has to be connected to the printer?
    I dont know.
Strange thing. I cant remember the last time I could not locate a file on my own computer.
Search reveals nothing. Invisible file search does not either.
