File locked, intern was using (file sharing). odd?

An intern, was working on my excel file via file sharing.
Sometimes, when I just go to open it it says, file locked - Julie working on it.... ok
But what's odd it she left the office, closed, saved, quit, and I'm still getting this on the file.

File lock during exec() use

Hi, thanks for your attention.
I'm having the following problem: (using Java 6 and Windows XP)
I want to open an image tools from my java program, using an image file already existing, during my java program execution.
But when I try to save the edited image on the same file, the image tool cannot do it, apparently because of a file write lock on the original file.
I do not keep any lock or stream open on the file (dont even open the file), and the problem does not happen every time. Can anybody tell my if this is a normal behaviour, and a possible workaround if it exists?
Here is my code
                 java.io.File executable = "c:/windows/system32/mspaint";
                 String order =   executable.getAbsolutePath() + c:/temp/image1.jpg";

By the way, I have the same problem if I try to use java.awt.Desktop or JDIC to open the file: if I try to save the edited file, I get (almost always, but not always) a "shared access violation" warning, and I cannot save it.

Files locked or in use

Suddenly tons of Word Processor document in AppleWork 6.2.9 don't open. A message says: "This file is locked or in use. Would you like to open a copy of it?" Someone has a suggestion about what I may have done or what is going on, and how to resolve this? Very much appreciated!

I just experienced this exact same problem and thanks to searching the Appleworks forum and reading a few threads I was able to solve the problem.
First of all I've been using Appleworks for a long time and never had this problem before.
Last week I bought this Mac Book Pro and wanted to install Appleworks 6 because I'm so familiar with it (Pages looks great, but I don't need the learning curve at the moment).
Also When I put my Appleworks cd in to install it on my Mac Bok Pro it would not install, because the icon had a circle with a slash through it -- so I called Apple care support and they advised to "just drag the Apleworks 6 folder into the new hard drive." Since I had networked my G4 and the Mac Book Pro through the Airport Extreme it was easy to do this, and it actually worked, Appleworks launched - Yeah! I have 6.0.4 and 6.2.9 in the Appleworks 6 folder.
So today I openend a spreadsheet and did some work on it, no problem. Next I opened a WP document and got the exact message:
"This file is locked or in use. Would you like to open a copy of it?
Cancel (or) Open a copy"
And I was frustrated. So I searched the Appleworks forum and followed the advice:
1. Open the Appleworks 6 folder > Starting Points > Templates
2. Next I see a document titled "AppleWorks WP Options.cws" and I "get info" and change "Ownership & Permissions" to "Read & Write"
3. Just to be on the safe side I trashed the prefferences file for Appleworks and everything is working great. I even have all my templates in place as they remained in the folded called "My Templates"
Good luck if you are having the same issue - I'm grateful people are willing to share the solutions to problems.

Yes I have done that. But In FTP Server I cannt read file, because no previliges. Only I need to copy file from FTP Server to local server then only I can read that file.
I tried all options using FileConrol(getFiles(),read()).
getFiles() - It wont copy the file, it give information about file.
read() - I dont have previliges to read the file.
Please tell me any other procedure would be there for getting file from FTPServer.

Process TIFF file from FTP server using File/FTP adapter

Hi,
I have a requirement to process a scanned document TIFF file from a directory on an FTP server using the File/FTP adapter and process through XI into a Web Service via a receiver SOAP adapter.
My question is can the file/FTP adapter be used to process the TIFF file into XI from an FTP server ? Also, what settings need to be made on the file adapter to allow this file to be processed into XI ?

The Receiver File Adapter is configured, using the following settings:
1) Choose File Content Conversion as the Message Protocol.
2) You give the addHeaderLine parameter as 1
3) For the fieldSeparator parameter you need to give field separator for both list and substructure (referring to the data type above). For eg: it may be a , (comma) for substructure in a comma separated file.
4) The endSeparator parameter needs to given for substructure only. For eg: it may be a nl (new line)
5) Give the file name, the directory and the Construction mode. Activate all the settings. Receiver File Adapter with F.C.C. is configured.

Reading one file at a time using File Adapter

I am using a File Adapter which polls every minute to read files from a Folder. This process picks up all the files in that folder. What I want to achieve is that the File Adapter should read one file at a time. Is it possible to force it to wait for a few seconds before reading the Next file in the Folder. Or is there a solution to what I am trying to achieve? Any help would be appreciated.

This code will read will be in response untill you hit the return key but will take only the first character....

Receiving multiple files with dual extension using file adapter

Hi,
The scenario where I am implementing requires multiple files of different names to be picked(ABC.txt) and dropped at destination(ABC.txt.pgp) up by my File Sender and Receiver adapters. Any idea on about how the configuration for receiving multiple files with dual extension for receiver adapter is to be done?
Note:- currently, The scenario is working fine without dual extension. i.e Its picking all files which starts with ABC and creating at destination as it is. even I configured as ABC.txt.pgp, but its not creating the second extension.

Hi,
Try to concatenate '.pgp ' to the source file name to create the target file name for the receiver file adapter, by accessing the Adapter Specific Attributes using Java user defined function. This might work.

File Read and Write using File Adapter in Bpel

In Bpel Process i am using File Adapter ( Schema is Opaque) for read and write the file contents. i am able do successful deployment and read, write function in first time deployment, after that again i tired to run the application, its not going to write the content of file, its only writing the file with out data's or content in that file.
Please help me...

Why cant poll a file more than once using File Adapter..

Hi All,
When we run webservice, as I am using File Adapter to read/write the file information.
Usually, File Adapter reads once every file and it wont read again the same file whcih already red.
Where and How this status maintained by File Adapter/BPEL in the system.
Where this will be avvailable and why cant File Adapter read/poll the same file.
Pls can any one of you share your ideas on the same.

Tried to get some information around where ftp adapter stores the timestamp but couldnt find anything useful.
But we have a table for File adapter which captures the processing information (FILEADAPTER_IN )
I dont have the setup for FTP adapter to run an example. If you could try the below we can clarify that the timestamp is not stored in memory.
Configure as usual for a folder with a file pattern for FTP adapter.
Drop a file to process it and then restart the SOA Suite and try to drop the same file with same timestamp to see wheather FTP adapter picks up or not.
Ideally i feel once you restart the SOA Suite it should pick up the file, if still not picks up the file for second time then we need to dig indepth to see where this information is stored.
btw what is your usecase ?

My iPhoto isn't opening... I think I deleted an important file when I was using MacKeeper. Anyways, it says something about quitting unexpectedly. PLEASE HELP!

As I was mentioning in the question, I think I deleted an important file using MacKeeper. I was trying to create more space on my laptop, but I'm not sure what I touched. But whenever I click on iPhoto, it takes awhile to open, but then a file pops up saying that iPhoto quit unexpectedly. It then has all these letters and codes which I guess it stands for the problem. The photo below is what is popping up.
I'm just a girl in dying need of help! I don't know much about Apple obviously. Any help at all is greatly appreciated!

GUI_UPLOAD doesnt perform such conversion (Excel, Word, PDF) and wont give you a suitable result, use one of the FM mentioned above or [office integration|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/21/b53138e1ba11d2bdbe080009b4534c/frameset.htm] or OLE or convert your Excel sheet to a simpler format : txt, csv, xml.

Issues with file locking when reading a file using RollingFile Appender

I am facing a file Rotation Issue with log4j. I want a way to read one file from two diff apps.
Intro: App A is writing a file F using log4j rolling file appender and app B is reading the same file F using new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(_file))).
Issue: App A is not able to roll the file. Because it is having a handle on the same file F.
Please let me know how can I handle this issue.

If you have the file open for reading when log4j tries to rename it, the rename will fail. Solution: don't have the file open for reading.
I want to read the feed of such rolling logs without closing any handle.I gave you a solution to that too.
If I am closing the handle after every read then there will be no way to determine where I left.Nobody suggested that.
Is there any possible solution for this?What part of the solution I have already posted didn't you understand?

How to read large files(20-30 MB) using File/FTP adapters.

I am using JDev 10.1.3.3 and SOA 10.1.3.3.
In my project some times i am getting files of size 20MB to 30MB.
And the data of the file is in binary form.
How can i read these type of files.
I think batching is not possible because data is in binary form.
Please help me out...

In my case data will be in binary format.
First i need to read the payload and later in my process i have to archive that using a web service.
