File lost in logic pro x project

Can I find lost audio tracks from a project that I bounced?

Hi there Eriksimon, I am happy to report that the files were found and my project is back to its original form and saved in the desktop.  I have learned a few valuable lessons in the last 3 days of this mess.  First, save your project in a master file and leave it alone.  Second, do not revert to the panik click mode. Thirdly and most important, call Apple to the rescue...  I spoke with Larry today somewhere in Texas and he helped me find the files and restore my project.  I have still lots to learn about managing my files but I will get there... I the meantime all I wanna do is compose music.  have a great weekend!!!

  • Is there any way to import multiple video files into a Logic Pro X project ?

    Hi All,
Im working on score for a movie, I have multiple video clips that I need to make score for. Im wondering if there is a way to import all the video clips in to a single LPX project.
    Thanks.
    Ara

No, Logic allows only one video file per Project.
You have to edit them together in iMovie or Final Cut Pro first.
However, the common workflow in film scoring is one Project per cue, so if there are no overlapping music cues between the videos, it shouldn't be a problem
    Hope that helps

Your only parachute would be Time Machine (if you have it running).
Logic's Auto Save feature doesn't help you at that point because that data is reset if you close the Project (or save the Project). However, the recorded audio files should be still in the Projects File (inside the Media folder of the Package File).
My guess is that this is actually a bug because it leaves orphan files behind that cannot be accessed from the Logic Project itself.

  • Recovering Logic Pro 8 Project files

I have been trying to recover my accidentally deleted Logic Pro 8 project files for over a week now I have been using Data Rescue II and File Salvage all I can find is my old Logic 7 Project files and some audio files. How do I find Logic Pro 8 project files?
I rang Apple today and the 'Expert' had no clue of the software I was using to recover deleted files or how to go about finding them, Please could anyone help. I have barely used the computer since as I don't want it to overwrite the trashed files.
I have realised that Logic no longer uses the .lso extension and is a bundled folder when I go show package contents there is a folder and within this folder there are two files when I search all of these file sin the data recovery software they only retrieve the files that have not been deleted which is not helpful.
    Please help!

I was waiting for some ******* to respond to my post with a lecturing. Thanks for not disappointing me Christian.
I back up all 4 of my internal drives several times a day with SuperDuper. I also back up off site with Carbonite.com It's saved me from hard drive failure once. This is the first time in over a decade that I cannot find a file that I suspect I deleted by accident. That's a pretty good track record. I'm doing the best that I can with what I have.
Now here's a strategy for you to keep you "on the clever side" Christian: If you don't have a solution to a problem posted on here, don't bother posting your judgmental and arrogant ******** without knowing the entire situation of the person who's asking for help.

  • Keep getting message pop up "Error reading/writing file  "com.apple.logic.pro.cs": Logical end-of-file reached during read operation," and "The Preferences are not loaded completely. Save them to "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" anyway?" Using Logic pro 8. ???

Logic froze while I was working on something so I forced quit.  Now every time I open LOGIC a message pops up that says:
    "Error reading/writing file
    “com.apple.logic.pro.cs”:
Logical end-of-file reached during read operation."
The only button option is cancel so I press it and another message appears that says:
"The Preferences are not loaded completely.
Do not save them, as you would overwrite the Preferences file with incomplete data."
Then when i close logic a box appears saying:
"The Preferences are not loaded completely.
    Save them to "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" anyway?"
There are 3 button options to press; ok, cancel or dont save.
I press "don’t save" cuz I don't want to ruin anything.
I found a discussion located here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/9564253#9564253 that says if I delete the file "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" it will resolve the problem.  If I do this will I loose or mess anything up at all, automation, saved channel strips customizations, saved effects, synth, or ultrabeat customizations etc? Or especially will I loose any work I've done?  I have hundreds pieces of music files I've created.  I'm scared to mess anything up with all the hours and months of work I've done.  Is there anyway to fix this without loosing anything?  I'm using Logic Pro 8.
    Thank you

You can safely delete this file - its the preference file for control surface settings - you haven't said whether you're actually using a control surface or not, if so, you will have to set it up again. A new file will be created when you fire Logic up again, but of course it will contain default settings. If you have a complicated control surface setup, remember to keep a backup copy somewhere in case any future problems arise.
Other than that, you really have nothing to be scared about - hopefully your problem is as simple as that and there isn't an underlying problem (a corrupt hard drive, for example). You seem concerned about losing work, so I guess you want to think about backing that up on a regular basis too. If you're saving your projects to your system drive, do get an external one for this. And also check that you have plent of free space on your system drive - you need to keep about a quarter or third of it free for your OS and programs to run properly (some temporarily stored files can be quite large).

  • Can logic pro 8 projects be read on logic express 8?

I've posted this on the logic pro forum but thought should post it here too:
So a few weeks ago I went to teach a short one day course in Logic Express 8.... except I've only used Logic Pro 8.....mmmm
Anyway, with all my projects carefully prepared (without space designers or any non- Express 8 plug-ins) I copied my workshop projects onto the students computers only to find that the .logic file was missing. Eek! The iMacs we were using had Logic express 8 (not pro) on them but for some reason the .logic file was now replaced by a folder - which we figured out was actually the opened package of the logic pro file:
The folder was always called Lgdoc containing two files: display state & document data
I've managed to replicate this behaviour on my powerbook which has not got logic 8 installed on it.
Has anyone else come across this? Has anyone opened a logic pro 8 project in Logic express 8 successfully?
Is there a way to re-pack a file whose contents are being shown?
    Thanks
    Rounik

Ok thanks, so I shouldn't have any problem I guess finish the project with logic9. Do u know by any chance if I can have both 8 and 9 running on my Mac?

  • What is the difference when bouncing a Logic Pro X project to Stereo Mode and Normal Mode?

I was was working on a Logic Pro X Project which I am using as a Sequence for a band.  When I completed my project, I mixed for left side to hear the Click track  and I panned everything else to the right side.  After I completed my project, I bounced to Mp3 in Normal Stereo Mode and after opening in iTunes I discovered that I am hearing the click on the right track. I again bounced and tried the Joint Stereo Mode thinking that would fix it but I still get the click track on both left and right.  What is the difference between bouncing to Normal and Joint Stereo.
My goal is to produce a 2 track Mp3 Sequence so that all my click track is only heard on the left side and the produced audio is heard only on the right side.
    Any suggestions?

FIrst, try to bounce to uncompressed aiff or wave and see if you get perfectL-R separation.
The compression algorithm does its voodoo and maybe some of the left right separation gets messed up with it.
    About Joint Stereo.
The idea behind is to save data. The algorithm analyzes the stereo signal, when it sees signals/frequencies that are in the left and right channel, then it says, "having the same signal on the left and right channel is the same as storing only one channel (mono ), and when played back send that one channel to the left and right speaker. it saves you half the storage/transmission". However, you have to trust the voodoo again to think that if what comes out is the same as what went in.
If size and transmission speed isn't an issues, don't use Joint Stereo.
    Hope that helps

  • Can logic pro 9 read logic pro X projects?

I have Logic pro X on my macbook at home, but I have to work with projects that can be also modified and edited in Logic Pro 9 (at the studios in the University), is it possible to save projects in Logic X to be compatible to Logic 9?
    Thanks for the help

    No
Logic Pro X can import and convert Logic Pro 9 projects.. but not the other way around.
You can however, export tracks from Logic Pro X, as audio 'stems' and then load those in to Logic Pro 9.

  • Logic Pro X Project won't Open

    Hello Community,
I'm having trouble opening one of my Logic pro X Projects. When I do, Only the last plug-in I used open but I can't manage to open the logic project itself. Any insights on this? Thank you.

If pressing CMD + 1 doesn't fix things...
To rescue the project, try the following...
    Close the problematic Project
    Create a New project....
Now use the Selective Track Import feature in Logic Pro, to import the tracks and each tracks plugins, routing, content and so on...from your problematic Project into the new project,,,
    http://music.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-use-selective-track-import-in-logic-p ro-9--audio-3181
Note: This tutorial is for LP9 but it works the same way in LPX

  • Importing Garage Band recorded tracks onto Logic Pro 9 projects...

Hi,  What I am wondering is, can I use the Garage Band on my Mac Air to record tracks and then import them onto Logic Pro 9 projects that I am currently working on?   I have a MacAir which I like for the the portability factor, and then do Logic Pro 9 on my iMac at home.  Will this work for recording tracks of real instruments such as bass guitars or acoustic ones via an UBS interface and my MacAir?   And then be able to import them onto Logic Pro 9...   Im wondering if there will be a big sacrifice of quality or incompatibility issues?

Yes, I use it over WiFi and while it may not be as fast as manual copying via an external disk or thumbdrive (depending on the speed of your WiFi and the size of the fles involved), it can be a lot more convenient... and it is very simple to achieve.
    To answer your other question
There are two types of compression.. Lossless and lossy....
If you simply zip up your projects before sending you won't lose any quality.. as doing so doesn't affect the quality of any samples.. (ie this would be lossless compression)

  • I lost my Logic Pro box and disc, I can't find my serial number. What should I do?

I lost my Logic Pro box and disc, after it upgraded to 9.1.4, it asked me about serial number, but I lost it...
I can't find my serial number. What should I do? (I baught it last year.)

    Hey Rickstertw,
I think there are two ways to do this.  Open Logic Pro, then in the menu tab, click on Logic Pro in the upper left hand corner, then choose About Logic Pro.  Another window will come up, and you should be able to see the serial number just below your name under "Licensed to" - that is, presuming this is a licensed to you copy!  :-)
If for some reason it doesn't come up there and you registered the product with Apple, then call the support number and if you can verify your information with them, they should be able to give it to you.
    Regards
    Joyce

  • I've lost my Logic Pro 7 XSkey USB dongle - what do I do?

I recently moved and in the process have lost my Logic Pro 7 XKkey USB dongle Can somebody please tell me the procedure for replacing it?
    Sincerely,
    D.D. Jackson

The biggest question here is, do you have receipts of your purchase or some other proof that you are a Logic Pro owner? If so, this should be easy.
I've been told by others that have lost/damaged their keys that Apple will only charge $89 plus tax and shipping for a new key, but only if you can prove you are the rightful owner of the software. If you bought it from Apple directly, there may be records of your purchase. However, the best proof will be a receipt or invoice that you retained.
    Good luck!

  • How to save kontakt sample files in Logic Pro X project?

    Hi,
I'm using Kontakt (Komplete, Native Instruments) as my samples for my midi in Logic Pro X, and my sample libraries are stored in an external hard drive which I bring around.
I need to send my Logic file over to another computer which will not have my hard drive that contains my sample libraries.
Is there a way to save my Kontakt Sample midi files together with Logic's folder, so when I open Logic without my ext Hard Drive, the midi can still be read?
I tried clicking Save As --> Organize my project as a "Folder", and ticked EVERYTHING --- Audio Files, EXS instruments and samples, Ultrabeat samples, Space Designer impulse responses, Movie file, Include Apple Sound Library Content.
But when I unplugged my external hard drive (which my sample files are stored), and clicked open that logic file which i saved, windows pop up saying it cannot locate my samples.
Is this a bug in Logic Pro X, or am I doing something wrong?
Or is it totally not possible to copy sample files over?

    Hi
Logic will not copy over any 3rd party samples etc. If you really need to, you would need to copy the appropriate libraries manually, though with Kontakt, some libraries would need to be re-authorised.

  • Recovering Deleted Logic Pro 8 Project files with .logic extension

I've been trying to recover a project file I accidentally deleted from Logic Pro 8 for a few days now. I'm using FileSalvage and all that comes up are the older Logic files with the .lso extension - some from as far back as 9 months ago. But no files with the .logic extension have appeared.
The file I'm looking for was dragged into my trash on November 2 from my media drive (internal HDD #2) and I have barely used that drive since because I don't want to fragment the deleted file.
I realize that the new .logic files are bundles and when I show package contents, there are 2 files that show up.
Any ideas on how I can recover this file?

  • Major files missing in Logic Pro X

Whilst making a track I decided to save my work before playing what I had created; but when it came to playing it there was no sound. I chose to quit the program and open the application again when it asked me to search for missing files, it did this for every audio file on the programme. When I loaded up my project again there was still no sound being produced. I went to check why no sound was being produced and it turns out that all of my instruments,  synthesisers,  samples, mp3 files, etc had gone missing. I have no idea where these files are right now as I can't find them in finder. Any help to locate these files and restore my projects / logic pro x would be much appreciated.
(I checked whether I had to install the sounds again but it says that I have already installed them)
    Thanks : )

    Hi Erik!
Is it me or has there recently been a sudden increase in this sort of problem (Where some people are finding that Core Audio deselects itself for some reason)?
Any idea of what might be causing this as I'm not seeing such behavior here.... and Im having a heck of a time trying to recreate it?
    Cheers..
