File manager window remains focused in DW CS6

If I open the file manager window to display my hard drive and the server files, then click on a file in the hard drive display to edit it, it opens behind the file manager window and I cannot view it properly without moving the file manager window, or closing the file manager window. It used to be that when you click on a file like this it would take precedence. I am on a Mac if that makes a difference. Do not have this problem with previous versions of DW.

Hi:
I got this from Adobe:
The issue that you have mentioned will happen only if you have turned on "Application Frame". You can toggle the 'Application Frame' setting from menu item 'Window > Application Frame' in Dreamweaver.
If you  turn off the 'Application Frame', the file will get the focus after opening it from Files Panel.
But full frame, fill my 7" screen is a nuisance. I don't want to have it that big every time I open a file. It is ridiculous. I need to have DW operating in one part of the screen while I bring up mail and web pages in the other, and then cut and paste from an email into a DW file page.

  • "file upload" window remains open after selecting a file. Have to "force quit" to get it to go away. How can I fix this?

Every time I try to upload a file, the "file upload" window remains open and will not go away unless I force quit Firefox. The window stays in front of all other programs and applications. Is this a problem with Firefox or with OSX? Any idea how to solve it? I've tried clearing the cache & cookies, etc. Should I reinstall Firefox or is there a simpler solution?

On Windows (don't know about Mac), the latest version will always take over the file association, and become the default for indd files. It's impossible to change it.
But there is a plugin for ID that makes this possible. Never tried it myself.

  • Newbie File Management - with a focus on Backup/Archive

    Hi,
I apologize if this question is a "stupid" one... but I'm a "newbie" to a lot of the professional-level issues addressed here.
I'm VERY interested in LR as a way of moving up from iPhoto as my image management application. I've gotten a lot more serious about my photography, and plan on using it in more "professional" ways.
The one thing I can't figure out about LR is how to handle backing-up/archiving my photos. Right now, while not all that powerful, iPhoto makes sense: I import photos, organize them in "Albums", edit them in Photoshop, and can burn groups of Albums to CD/DVD as needed. If I pop the CD/DVD into my Mac, iPhoto launches and I can browse, view, etc. the images on the disc... and the images I'm viewing are the EDITED version.
Where I lose the thread with LR is the fact that the edits are non-destructive. If I setup a directory structure for storing the image files, I can back this up however it suits me. But then the images are separate from the LR edit information. I can backup the LR database... but, again, it is then disconnected from the original images. Separately, the backups serve no purpose.
So... what do I do? How are other people using LR to manage this? Am I just missing something really simple here?
    Thanks for your help!

One question on backing up data into the images (i.e. writing the xmp back into the dng files): My library has about 10k images in it, and I did a xmp export a week or so ago so that I'd have all the develop settings etc in the images. Since then, maybe 50 or 60 images have been updates within LR. Is there a simple way to figure out what images have had changes in their develop settings and re-export their metadata, or do I need to re-export metadata for every image in the entire library (that would seem pretty inefficient).

  • Using file manager to see files stored on the camera

I use an EOS 350D. With Windows XP, uisn File Manager (Windows Explorer) I could see the camera as a drive, and could see the list of image files on the camera, select and download them etc. However, using windows 7 I do not see the camera as a drive. Why is that? Is it because I have all the Canon software loaded? What can I do to have direct access to the files on the camera via File Manager. I don't use the Canon software for anything.

    From Canon ...
"There is no driver for the OS Version you selected. The driver may be included in your OS or you may not need a driver."
This is true for Win 7 or XP.
"Change the camera’s USB connection mode from “PC” to “Print/PTP”.
This is required for all older cameras. But it does not require any Canon software since it is an in-camera setting,

  • Konqueror file management and auto-refresh

    Hello all,
I am working with Arch and KDEmod and so far everything is pretty good. I do have one problem that is a bit annoying.
Konqueror file manager windows do not automatically refresh when viewing the URLs system:/home or system:/users/jay. The system:/home URL is what is opened when you click on the "Home" icon, so this makes this problem stand out.
Anyway, the problem can be reduced by doing the following:
    1. Open Konqueror file browser and select "Home Folder" from the tree on left. This puts you at the URL system:/home. (Alternately, just click on the "Home" icon that gets set up in the kicker by KDEmod.)
    2. In a terminal window create a file in your home directory. Note that the file does not show up in the Konqueror window.
    3. Press F5 to refresh Konqueror. The newly created file now appears.
    4. In a terminal window delete the file you just created. Again, note that the file does not disappear from the Konqueror window.
    5. Press F5 to refresh Konqueror. The file now disappears.
The correct behavior is that when you create and delete the file, it shows and then disappears from the Konqueror window accordingly. Currently this does not work for the system:/home (Home Folder) or system:/users/jay (Users Folders/<user full name>) URLs. Interestingly enough, if I type the URL "/home/jay" into the Konqueror location bar in file management mode and then do the above steps, the auto-refresh works fine.
Does anyone have any clues as to why the refresh doesn't work for the system:/ URLs? Is this by design? What plugin actually provides the system:/ URL schema?
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Jay

    Hi LunAds,
I'm afraid you have just discovered how bad these features are implemented in Excel: they just don't work properly and I always advise against using them for any serious long-term solution.
If you do not have Excel services, then editing the document on the server (which would prevent lots of problems) is out of the question indeed.
Alternatives depend a lot on your needs.
For example, you could use sharepoint lists that the users can edit and then import those lists into Excel for reporting purposes.
But if this is relational data (parent-child tables, which is very often the case) then a database solution is probably the best route to take.

  • How do I re-enable showing the download files history in the download manager window?

    System: Windows XP
I am trying to re-enable showing/retaining the list of downloaded files in the download manager window. I want to be able to drag and drop directly from that window into a folder of my choosing. (I used to be able to do this, but apparently I messed that up...)
I have tried the suggestions that could easily be found, including setting Firefox to remember all history in the Privacy tab of Options.
I also deleted the mimeTypes.rdf file to "reset" the browser defaults, but to no avail.
    Any ideas/help?
    Thanks.

By the way, a few other things you probably know:
    (1) The setting to keep the downloads list displayed after a download is here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > General
Check "Show the Downloads window..." and ''uncheck'' "Close it..."
    (2) You can always show the list by pressing Ctrl+j
The mimeTypes.rdf file isn't particularly relevant to this problem; it affects what application Firefox uses to open a particular type of file.
However, there is a database file which stores your download history which might be corrupted. You could rename that file and have Firefox start building a new one.
    (1) Open your personal settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder
Help (or Alt+h) > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
    (2) Switch back to Firefox and exit the program (e.g., File > Exit)
    (3) Wait a few moments for Firefox to finish updating files in your settings folder, then rename '''downloads.sqlite''' to something else, like downloads.old. Alternately, you can delete the file.
    (4) You're done with your profile folder and you can restart Firefox now.
    Any improvement?

  • File Manager unable to open, Windows error message...

When I try to open File Manager from Nokia PC Suite or Nokia Phone Browser in My Computer, a Windows error message suddenly appears and says "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close." I don't know what seems to be the problem. I've been using it for months and this is the only time I encountered a problem like this. How can I solve this problem?
I have the latest version of Nokia PC Suite (Version 6.85.12.0), my OS is Windows XP 2000, and I'm using a USB cable as a connector.
Please, I really do need to fix this one.

  • File allocation windows 7 (64bit) gone after new installation Creative Suite CS6

    Hi,
I've got a strange and inconvenient problem with my Creative Suite CS6. I had to reinstall the complete package on my Window 7 (64bit) (because programs like InDesign froze my OS all the time) and now all file allocation are gone. Usually it's easy to just connect them again, with right click on the file and then choosing the program you want, but for ex. photoshop is not in the list anymore. When I select it manually by going to the file tree, windows just ignores that I chose it. First I thought I just open Photoshoop first and select the psd after that and Windows will notice that this is the right program to open psd but nada. It still has no idea with which program it can open psds...
Don't know what happend there, anyone has the same issue or know how to fix it?

I installed the filetypes programm and successfully got the icon foor the file allocation back, but still it just refuse to open. The other ways I already tried... I guess something is just seriously wrong with my windows. I think the be solution is to sacrifice a weekend, reinstall windows and creative suite after that to get rid of all the bugs...
    But thanks...

  • Why there is no file manager in Windows phone

Why there is no file manager in Windows phone??? There should be a file manager provided through the update.

so it's mean IOS or Android or Symbian were much better than windowsphone because they have file manager.
to be honest without file manager we can't choose drive to install apps, and that was a disadvantage for lumia phone who have small internal memory. So you had to rich enough go for flagship phone to get satisfaction warranty.
for instance my lumia 720 who have 8 Gb internal which right now at Nokia care centre, i have to cautious when installing apps or game with great memory requrement, where's my water for example need 700 MB.
my we chat apps i don't know why cost me 296Mb memory, even i've already deleted chat history, temporary files etc.

    Hi,
Looks like your mmc dll is corrupted, with your install and uninstall of software.
    Two Options:
    1. Upgrade the Kernel with latest Patch level, which comes with new SAPMMC.dll file
    OR
    2. Just download the SAPMMC*.sar file from service market place and extract in exe directory, since it is windows re-booting the server doesn't hurt.
Hope this helps. points are welcome.
