File menu in lion is not in a to z order

When I log onto our company's server (OS X Server) the files are in z to a order by default.
The file list on my personal harddrive shows up in the normal a to z order.
How do I fix it so that servers that I log on to have the normal a to z order?
I am running Lion on my Mac also.

I have this problem using Windows 7 Home Basic 32 bits with Firefox 3.6.10 pt-BR.

  • "open recent file" menu item - 2 issues / aspects (Mac & Windows)

    regarding the  "open recent file" menu item in the File menu.
    1)   should have a way to "clear recent items".  Most software solves this by appending an item "Clear Recent Items" to the bottom of the list of aliases that springs forth from the menu.
    2) Further, in the preferences it should be able to be set to 0 to prevent the function entirely, not just natural #s 1-99.  This is the case in Windows Adobe REader, and on the Mac it was the case the last time I was able to check, but due to the bugs in 9.1.x regarding the ability to handle a case-sensitive file system I haven't been able to even open the preferences on the mac for a while.

    Michael:
    Thanks for your quick reply.
    Please note that this issue:  "open recent file" menu item that is not clearable, nor is the system preference able to be set to retain 0 files,
    has absolutely nothing to do with the file system issue.  It is just a design choice (or oversight or bug depending on your point of view).
    It is an issue of security/privacy to not have the Reader keep a list of recently viewed files, or to at least allow the user to clear the list.
    Thanks again for your time, interest, and speedy reply.
    Cheers!

  • I've downloaded pages 4.1 onto my new macmini (10.7.2) but the File menu does not include the save as function .  Any suggestions?

    I've just downloaded Pages 4.1 onto my new macmini (OS X 10.7.2 Lion) but the "Save as ..." function does not appear in the File menu (although "Save ..." does appear).  I'm wasting lots of time saving copies and then changing the names via the desktop.  Any suggestions?  I've already checked updates and can't see any that look suitable.
    Whoops!  No sooner had I posted this as a question when a whole host of queries popped up asking the same Q.  So now I know there is NO Save as in Pages 4.1, but a similar route using Duplicate.  I'm off to experiment.
    Plus ça change!!!

  • HT1414 When I hit restore a file menu from my computer pops up and I am not sure what file to put in to get my iphone to restore from.  I don't get the box that says are you sure you want to restore.  So how do I get it to restore so I can see if this fix

    I got a "new" iphone from the Apple store when my dog bit the phone and cracked the front.  This new phone will not play any music, ie no sound will come out.  I can watch videos with sounds but no music from any of my playlists.  I checked with Apple and was told to try to restore my iphone.  I did all the necessary prep work like backing up and syncing and then hit the restore button on the iTunes page.  A file menu icon popped up with a blank in it and I do not know what file I need to put in the window as where it needs to find a file to restore the phone.  I never got a message that said are you sure you want to restore the phone.  I need some help if anyone knows how to do this or should I just go back to the Apple store (which is over an hour away)?  Thanks

    I am syncing my iphone to my iTunes account and then I do a backup and also making sure all updates are current.  Then by going to the my phone and then going to the right and selecting the restore my iphone.

    Hi jcatx2013, we don't really have enough information on your system to make specific suggestions...
    Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
    You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
    Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
    Any difference?

  • How can I Hide(not Disable) the Save As and Exit options in the File menu of Excel Documents in SharePoint 2013?

    Hi,
    I want to hide(not disable) the "Save As" and "Exit" options in the File Menu of Excel Documents in SharePoint 2013.When I make changes in the excelribbon.css file of xlviewer.aspx,all the options under File menu are getting hidden but
    I want to hide only these two options while retaining the others.
    Kindly suggest me a method to achieve this.
    Looking forward to your reply at the earliest.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sanjana

    Hi Sanjana,
    To hide the “Save As” and “Exit” options in xlviewer.aspx page in SharePoint, I recommend to use the code below(however it is not recommended):
    <style>
    div.cui-menusection li.cui-menusection-items:nth-child(2)
    display:none !important;
    div#m_excelWebRenderer_ewaCtl_menuJewelSaveAs{
    display:none !important;
    div#m_excelWebRenderer_ewaCtl_msJewelSecondary{
    display:none !important;
    </style>
    As “:nth-child()” selector is supported in IE 9 and later versions, please use IE 9 or later versions’ IE browser.

    Best regards.

  • I can no longer burn a disc. The command to do so does not appear in my Files menu. All my recordings are 100% legal. I have installed a new version (it still looks the same), but that hasn't helped. I have done so before.

    All my music is from legal sources (albums owned by me, others from iTunes), but the Burn Disc command does not appear in the File menu, and nothing I do helps. I downloaded a new version of iTunes, but it still loks the same and may just be the same. But the problem started long before I did that.

    You don't even need to show the general Sidebar as suggested by others.
    Select Playlists in the top buttons:

  • Browse in Mini Bridge is not Available under File Menu in Photoshop CC

    Recently installed Bridge CC and Photoshop CC in Windows 7 enviornment. "Browse in Mini Bridge" option is not available under the File menu. I reinstalled Bridge CC, rebooted, yatta yatta, but no Mini Bridge option. Any ideas how to get it to install/come up?
    Thanks!

    Mini Bridge is no longer available, so it's never going to show up again. All Flash-based extension panels were removed from Photoshop, and Mini Bridge was one of them. More info here:

  • Acrobat Pro "save as" function in the file menu does not show the current directory of the file

    I have installed CC but Acrobat Pro gives me headaches.
    The "save as" function in the file menu does not show the current directory of the file but something I have worked on in the past.
    It forces me to navigates through my hard disk for this very straightforward thing in normal conditions. I precise: Acrobat is the only software reacting like that.
    I use Windows7 professional 64bits.

    I use what seems to be the latest version available on the Cloud:
    To illustrate my point, I open a directory with explorer and double-click on the only PDF in there:
    So here it is, open:
    When I do a "Save as", it takes me to a totally different place on the disk!
    Very annoying...

  • Place command not appearing in file menu

    I click file and do not see the Place Command so I can insert picture. Where else could it be?

    Hold on a sec. Are you saying it appears in the File menu, but not in the context menu?
    That's normal -- I've been asking for years for Place to appear in context menus...
    Here's a script written a few years ago by Gerald Singelmann that will add the command to the context menu:
    //Add "Place" to the context menu by  Gerald Singelmann
    //Place this script into the "Startup Scripts" Folder inside the scripts folder in the app folder.
    #targetengine "session"
    ContextPlace();
    function ContextPlace(){
    var myResult = true;
    if(myResult == true){
    var myLayoutContextMenu = app.menus.item("$ID/RtMouseLayout");
    var myBeforeDisplayListener = myLayoutContextMenu.addEventListener("beforeDisplay", myBeforeDisplayHandler, false);
    function myBeforeDisplayHandler(myEvent){
    if(app.documents.length != 0){
    if(app.selection.length == 1){
    switch(app.selection[0].constructor.name){
    case "Rectangle":
    case "Oval":
    case "Polygon":
    case "GraphicLine":
    case "TextFrame":
    //Add the menu item if it does not already exist.
    if(myCheckForMenuItem(myLayoutContextMenu, "Place...") == false){
    myMakeMenuItem();
    break;
    default:
    if(myCheckForMenuItem(myLayoutContextMenu, "Place...") == true){
    myLayoutContextMenu.menuItems.item("Place...").remove();
    function myCheckForMenuItem(myMenu, myString){
    var myResult = false;
    try{
    var myMenuItem = myMenu.menuItems.item(myString);
    myMenuItem.name;
    myResult = true
    catch(myError){}
    //alert("Menu item found? " + myResult);
    return myResult;
    function myCheckForScriptMenuItem(myString){
    var myResult = false;
    try{
    var myScriptMenuAction = app.scriptMenuActions.item(myString);
    myScriptMenuAction.name;
    myResult = true
    catch(myError){}
    //alert("Script menu action found? " + myResult);
    return myResult;
    function myMakeMenuItem(){
    if(myCheckForScriptMenuItem("Place...") == false){
    //alert("Making a new script menu action!");
    var myMenuAction = app.scriptMenuActions.add("Place...");
    var myEventListener = myMenuAction.eventListeners.add("onInvoke", myEventHandler, false);
    var myPlaceMenuItem = app.menus.item("$ID/RtMouseLayout").menuItems.add(app.scriptMenuActions.item("Place..."));
    function myEventHandler(myEvent){
    //alert("Got to myEventHandler!");
    if(app.selection.length == 1){
    switch(app.selection[0].constructor.name){
    case "TextFrame":
    case "GraphicLine":
    case "Rectangle":
    case "Oval":
    case "Polygon":
    var myFile = File.openDialog ("Place file...", undefined, false);
    app.selection[0].place(myFile);
    break;
    } else {
    alert("Please select only one frame.");
    Copy the code above and paste into a plain text editor like Notepad. Save as type "all files" and add the .jsx extension. It should be placed into the application \Scripts\Startup Sripts subfolder and it will run when ID starts up. The folder should exist in CS5, but if not you can add it.
    Here's one by Dirk (I think Becker) that does the same thing to add No Break:
    #target "InDesign"
    /* This script will copy the existing menu action into a new menu item.
    The "$ID/" strings ensure it will even work with localized versions of InDesign.
    For permanent execution, save the script as startup script e.g. in a folder "path to InDesign/Scripts/new folder/startup scripts".
    Dirk
    ( function () {
    var anb = app.menus.itemByName("$ID/CharPanelPopup").menuItems.itemByName("$ID/Apply no break");
    var atc = app.menus.itemByName("$ID/RtMouseText");
    try {
    atc.menuItems.itemByName(anb.name).remove();
    } catch( ex ) {};
    atc.menuItems.add(anb.associatedMenuAction,LocationOptions.BEFORE,atc.menuItems .itemByName("$ID/ClearAllOverrides"));
    Do the same for it.
