File name disappears
With BEx Analyzer 7.0, I create a workbook from scratch, not using SAP template, switch to design mode, insert a grid and when I toggle back to analysis mode, Excel file name disappear from the Excel top menu as well as from the window toolbar. I installed the latest front end patches without any success. Any thought?
Hi Anoop & Heidi,
Thanks a lot for your reply. It was really helpful.
When contacted the framework people, they informed that once a file name is being specified in the client and a roundtrip is performed, in the meantime the file gets uploaded to the server. The file path is reset afterwards, in order to prevent the file from being transferred again and again.

In File Upload the file name disappears once a drop-down option is chosen
Hi,
There is a pop-up which contains File Upload UI element, an input field and a drop-down list. After specifying the file path, if i choose an option from the drop-down list, the file path disappears. However, the context attribute still holds the file path but at the UI level its not visible to the user. Please let me know what could be done for that.
Thanks in advance.

Files/names Disappear...
G'day,
Just in the past few weeks, I've started getting a strange problem relating to DVDs/CDs.
When you click on an icon/file name, sometimes the whole file just instantly disappears, or the name disappears leaving it blank.
This has happened on both CDs, DVDs - but ALSO on a dvd image file.
Any idea what's going on?Hi cosmic,
If you haven't already seen it, scroll down to the second part of Francine Schwieder's Amazing Disappearing Drives, or The Invisibility Plague and see if that helps. -
It only happens with one of the two user accounts setup on this iMac.
I've deleted and recreated the user account but the problem still occurs.Hi Barak--
Since I don't have as much experience as Dale has, I never faced such an issue.
You could try the following:
Open Ms Project not connected to Project Server
Open and save the local file as an XML file and close Ms Project
Open again MS Project connected to Project Server
Try to open the local XML file
Hope this helps.

Bridge CS5.1 – Disappearing File Names (Now You Don't See It All)
Bridge CS5.1. Lion 10.7.2. 27" iMac native display at native resolution.
For some reason, in Lion (but not Snow Leopard) Bridge cuts-off the bottom line of long file names (see the screenshot). Irritating. Difficult if I'm trying to distinguish between ‘Long File Name (1)’ and ‘Long File Name (2)’ where the (1) and the (2) have partly disappeared off the bottom, hidden under the bottom scroll-bar.
It seems to be something to do with the window resizing as Bridge, whilst not adapting the size of the thumbnails to fit the window size, produces a scroll-bar instead (see bottom right hand corner of screenshot). This doesn't happen in Snow Leopard.
I've tried fiddling with all the parameters which could effect Bridge's window display, but to no avail.
You can add this to the the other display problem with Adobe Camera Raw (see previous postings). Nice if Adobe could fix this too.
Sorry, this screenshot is hopelessly and incomprehensibly small owing to Adobe’s image size upload restrictions – so you’ll have to trust me on the disappearing file names and the scroll-bar.Well, gentleman (gentleman, I assume) your answers are of no real help to me unless you have Lion to test this on. There is no relevant comparison to make since I have already established that this works correctly in Snow Leopard.
Yes, it is a man, I leave the qualification Gentle to you
I was more curious to the solutions you have done and when something does work on snow leopard and not in Lion will not automatically need to be qualified as a bug unless you tried different solutions.
Have you tried to delete the 'lastusedworkspace' file from the user library, resetting preferences and even deleted the plist file from the user library prefs? And did you try the default film strip mode. Or other default workspaces, is it only your own customized workspace that shows this behavior? What have you set as additional info lines in the Bridge prefs.
If it seems a bug you should report it as such at Adobe, this is still a user to user forum. But with Lion still in development and wide spread known as a bit buggy it might also be wise to throw the same bug report at Apple. -
Cloud does not disappear from file name?
why does it take "forever" for the cloud to disappear from file name?
I saved a numbers document to the cloud a half an hour ago, and the cloud is still there.HDash-Tech,
thanks for the tip, but since I have my iTunes Library on a NAS I have to direct iTunes every now and than via "choose library" to the folder and it doesn't make a difference...
I think it's somehow due to my iTunes Match. I know they do not sync audiobooks, but they mess up pretty much everything else within my library. Songnames here and there and especially cd covers!
Any other idea how to get it straigten out again?
Thank,
Daniel -
My file names have disappeared in grid view. Thery have been replaced with a dark bar along the bottom of the previews. If I toggle using the command u it hide the bar but I still can't see the file name. In list view all the file names are OK.
The dark bar is caused by the option "Show metadata below image".
Check the settings for the metadata overlays in Grid view (basic and expanded) by clicking the little "badge" icon below the Browser and selecting "Edit". Is the filename still enabled in the list? And in a high enough position to have precedence for other metadata tags, if the space does not suffice to show all selected tags?

File names in finder disappear when selected
When I select files or folders in an open window in Finder, the names disappear, but the icon still shows. Scrolling or moving the window will cause them to reappear. Also, None of the toolbox windows show information (like font name or point size) in Adobe apps until you click in and select all. Type something in, click enter, and new text disappears.
I've deleted Finder prefs, deleted font caches, repaired permissions, reinstalled LucidaGrande.dfont - no effect. Help!Someone posted a similar problem last week that was traced to a corrupt font. See if this thread helps:

In link panal file name got disappeared
In link panal file name got disappear when embedding EPS, TIFF, PSD etc., excluding PNG in illustrator CS6
Yogesh,
When you embed, the image becomes part of the artwork in the document, hence no link.
It ought to apply to PNG also. -
Nowhere to be found, or at least I don't know how to find it... I tried doing the same thing in the Finder and it won't let me do that, this message appears: (You can't use a name that begins with a ".", because these names are reserved for the system. Please choose another name.). I didn't do it on purpose, but now I want to know what happened to the files and can I get them back...
Thank you.In affect you are creating a hidden file, by removing file name. You need to either turn on viewing hidden files in Finder, or use third party software for viewing hidden files.
To see hidden files in Finder, open your terminal.app and copy and paste the following command:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE ;killall Finder
and enter (return) then quit terminal.
to revert back change true to false, as below:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE ;killall Finder -
Photo messages disappeared and replaced with file name?
For some reason all my photos in my messages have been replaced with a ? Sign and file name. When I press for more options only one is to delete. has anyone experienced this and if so how do I get my photos back?
glendahl,
I have been using ID since version 1.5 and this is not standard or some known bug.
Now don't hold me to this as it could have been some other work around to solve it as I don't recall exactly what I did to handle the matter.
I seem to vaguely recall something similar that happened to me a few years ago. I was using InDesign CS2 running in XP Home version over a Windows network. When I would move files from my desktop to the server or from one folder on the server to another, I would notice either the PDF would be outside the folder where I kept them, so it wasn't an .idnn file, or the .indd file would be missing in action! Very wierd and troubling. I had Version Que turned on and it was giving me all sorts of other troubles, so I turned it off and the problems went away. Something about moving files over the network just didn't sit right with Version Que, hence the mess ups! -
Opening a titled email PDF attachment in iBooks results in untitled document within ibook. The document transfers from email to good reader or other PDF reader applications without issue. It is an iBooks issue. This started in version 1.5. How can I load a previous version of iBooks?
Looking at the iTunes books tab the same document has a numerical value as the title.
The same thing happens if you open a titled PDF document in good reader and use the open with iBook button.
Anytime a document is sent to iBooks on the iPad, the title becomes blank in iBooks, but the title in iTunes is a 128 bit number.
How do you report such an issue to apple iBook team?I am having a similar problem, the pdf "book" has one name on itunes on my mac, but on my ipad (IOS 5.0.1 build 9A405) the names are different. Plus pdf "books" keep disappearing. If I go into itunes on the Mac and make any change in the "get info" such as comment etc and resync the pdf shows up again.
Several days later the file again disappears from the ipad (no I am NOT deleting them and I have plenty of free memory on the ipad) and I have make yet another small change.
I did not encounter this behaviour in previous version of ibook. -
In previous versions of (any) browser I could save a web page, and if there were more than one page, as in a thread in a forum, I used to be able to click on the saved file, "file 01.html" in the Save as dialog, it would show up as "file 01.html" and I could change the 01 to 02 for the second page, ie "file 02.html"
But now when I click on the file name it shows as "file 01", the .html disappears. Same for .jpg or any other extension.
This is very annoying, especially when I find a long, multipage thread on a subject I want to read later offline.
Bug or Feature? Either way I don't like it.
How can I change it back?
Thanks,
DavidI have seen that as well. If I change the name of a .jpg picture I am downloading, I have to add back the extension into the file name. If I do not change the name, the extension is kept.

Hello,
I burned a hybrid CD (default behaviour), from finder and hdiutil makehybrid, readable on mac (HFS+), windows (ISO 9660/Joliet), and linux (ISO 9660/Rock Ridge). The resulting file names differed on each platform:
HFS+: Everything as expected.
Joliet: Comma disappeared, why? The spec mentions only '*', '/', ':', ';', '?', and '\', as illegal.
RR: Everything in lower case, length cut to 30 (even ISO 9660 allows 31), non-ascii (national) characters missing.
Is there any documentation explaining these restrictions?
Mac OS X (10.3.9)Sorry, risto. I should have been more precise. Though I did goof by including Windows in my note above. In plain ol' DOS, that list of characters is true, along with a couple I missed. But the Windows Joliet file system allows more of the old characters. Here's a now complete and proper list.
These are all characters reserved by the system in DOS.
? [ ] / \ = + : ; " , * |
In the Windows Joliet file system, these characters are not allowed.
? / \ : " * |
So the disk that dropped the commas must have been burned by straight DOS rules. Whereas the disk burned from Linux used Joliet rules. -
Why is LR importing duplicate files and adding a -1 to file name?
I need to locate some missing photos that disappeared from my library so I'm re-importing my photo collection again (from burnt DVD's) in hopes to recover all the missing images. When I insert a DVD to re-import the photo collection and choose "convert to DNG" and I check "do not import suspected duplicates" LR imports the same images that are already in the catalog and renames the images with a -1...for example, IMG_3664.dng is already in LR folder named 2008-06-14. When I re-import the images from that date, LR renames the image IMG_3664-1.dng and puts it in the same folder resulting in duplicate images side by side. Why is it importing the same image and adding a -1 to the file name?
I was expecting it to tell me there are XXX photos already in the catalog but it doesn't. It just adds a -1 to the file name and imports all the duplicate images and displays them side by side in the grid view.
Any ideas? I originally imported the images from the same DVD's I'm using now on a PC and placed the library on an external hard drive. NOw I'm using a new iMAC and I imported that same library from the same external drive location. I'm working with LR 1.31.
Can someone help? LR should recognize the files with the identical date/time stamp and tell me it's already in the catalog...but it's not for some reason.
ThanksIf you import them again, you'll get a "-2" instead of -1, and the -2 will list with the -1,and the original with no dash. The higher number distinguishes the most recent file of same title..
The file titles are identical as original, but it sounds as converting the file from the source,(PC, Hard drive) to DNG makes it another version of the file....do you type DNG in caps? should it be lower case?
Because the computer doesn't read the file as a duplicate, but the file name is the same, you'll get a -1.
This could probably happen, say, if your files are raw, and you had burned them as jpeg onto dvd storage. Even though you want them back as raw, converting them isn't duplicating them.
I hope this helps...I don't even own Lightroom; I'm shopping around between this and Aperture right now...the experience I'm referring to is where I work in a pre-press printing house; So if someone replying to my post who masters in Lightroom calls me an idiot, I won't argue much!!
