"File Not Supported" Message when importing AVCHD footage into Premiere on Mac
Hi,
What I am using:
Camera: Sony FS100
Media Codec: AVCHD
Computer: iMac running OSX 10.8.2
Premiere CS6
I have a quirky issue I have been trying to figure out. I just bought a Sony FS100 camera which records footage in the AVCHD format. When I import the "private" folder the camera creates into Premiere, it brings the footage in but always give me this error message: "File format not supported" along with a list of every clip on the card. The thing is, despite the warning, Premiere brings in each clip fine into browser window. I can preview the clips, edit them and export them out of the timeline with no problems that I have seen. Additionally, if I go back to the "File" dropdown and select "Import Recent File", I can select any of the the files individually again and NOT get the error message when I bring in the clips. I have imported from the Private folder amd the AVCHD quicktime inside the Private folder and, when I do, I get the above mentioned error. But if I import any of the .mts folders that Premiere can see inside the AVCHD folder (each .mts folder seems to represent each indvidual clip), they come in perfect without the error message. Additionally, if I locate the folder through the media browser, it brings the clips in without the error message. I can then drag these clips into the Project window like I have been trying to do eith the "import" function. So should I not be using the "Import" function with these files? I want to because that is what I did with FCP? Any help would be much appreciated!
The PRIVATE folder contains far more than just the media. Those additional files are what's generated the message.
The proper method here is to use the Media Browser for importing.

CS3 - Can I Import AVCHD footage into Premiere and if so, how ?
Hello All;
Can you tell me if I can Import AVCHD footage (Like from a Panasonic Professional Camcorder) into Premiere CS3 ? My version doesn't recognize the .MTS files that the camcorder generates. If there is any way to import AVCHD footage, could you tell me how ? Thanks.

I'm getting an 'error image is not supported' message when importing from my iPhone to iPhoto
Hello helpers-
I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro 5,5 hard drive (1TB) to a 1.5TB hard drive. I used migration assistant to transfer everything over. So far everything works great with one exception. My iPhoto library will not upload images from my iPhoto 5 anymore. Same goes with my iPad 2. I get a message saying 'error image file is not supported'.
Is there something I can do to fix this?
Also my iCloud sign in just keeps getting the thinking icon when trying to sign in. It will do it for hours. I've tried rebooting, shuting everything down, I updated everything I could and yet I'm still getting issues. Thanks for your assistance!... and happy New Year!
-RyanThat was a test to determine if the problem was limited to your original library or was system wide. Since the new library worked OK the culprit is your orginal library.
Therefor Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Importing HD (AVCHD) Footage into Premiere Pro CS3 (windows)
Hi guy's the question is pretty much in the title.
Is it possible to import HD (AVCHD) footage into Premiere (with or without aditional software)?
Thanks. What I can't figure out is why such a major format does not have native support in in Premiere CS3.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVCHD
This is a format that has been adopted by Sony and Panasonic and is compatible with most blue-ray players and even the Play Station 3. So why would so many of the small software companies, in competition with Adobe, have recognized the importance of the format and come up with solutions to read and edit the format when Adobe has not?
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb403297&sliceId=2
I've been coming back to Adobe's web site for months hoping to find they are working on a solution and I have found nothing. I have been a huge fan of Adobe software for years and have pumped many a pay check in keeping my Adobe software current, the most recent being the purchase of the CS3 Master Suite. I'm not trying to bash the company but Adobe if your listening I really want to know want to know what the real story is. This goes beyond the "we are just busy and will get to it when can" statements I have been seeing on the adobe sites. It looks to me as though some other deal has been made and Adobe does not want to talk about why they are not incorporating the AVCHD format into Premiere CS3. -
here is a copy opf the "FILE NOT FOUND" message iget. I am trying to open a listing for a car (not a part-it works there) and after the listing opens, it changes to this message. it is coming with "chrome" as the http heading

Omni.ja is inside the program directory. I would get the installer and install Firefox manually. It probably would not hurt to remove the Firefox program directory first. Error message when importing CD's into iTunes.
I've just started getting an error message when importing audio CD's into itunes. +"Error occured while converting the file "........". The disk could not be read from or written to."+ I've been importing CDs for years now and this just started happening last night. The disk image shows up on the desktop, itunes opens and recognizes the disk and searches the database and finds the artist/track names/album etc. Then when I click the import button, I get this message. If I click on the disk image in the desktop and click on a specific file it will play through iTunes. No new changes except for maybe downloading the latest iTunes update. Any suggestions? Thank you very much in advance.

Every time I import a CD, mp3 is louder then AAC. It's just every so often if I try AAC the volume will be really low. Like barely hearable. Maybe it has to with the fact the CD was released long before AAC format was around? Something to do with compatibility maybe?
Iron-Mike, MP3 and AAC were both invented well after CD audio and both algorithms are well aware of CD format. Make sure you have "Soundcheck" settings turned on both for iTunes playback and for CD burning. iTunes Soundcheck is supposed to normalize the volumes in spite of variations in the files. Many people have noticed that they don't really work very well, but having them on is better than nothing. -
How Do you import C100 footage into Premiere Pro CC
I just tried importing Canon C100 footage into Premiere Pro CC, but get no sound. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and I pray I don't have to convert this footage before bringing it in. Is there a workflow anyone can recommend? Do I have to convert the footage first? Thanks, Lucian
Lucian,
PrPro should work natively with the Canon C100 footage ... it works with almost everything out there. And with the C100 shooting MP-4, AVCHD, & H.264, those are all handled easily by PrPro.
My question ... I would surmise (from what little info you include) you are shooting AVCHD? The reason I say this is that format splits audio & video into different files ... so it's a bit trickier to "import" than others that have the a & v in one file. Make sure you copied the whole top-leveL FOLDER and all sub-folders (not just the footage or contents of a folder) from the cam/card into the computer for AVCHD ... and then when you import into a project via the media browser your audio & video should be all connected by PrPro.
There have been numerous threads here where AVCHD users have "lost" their audio, only to find they'd simply left it behind by NOT copying all the folders & subfolders their camera had created. -
Ok, I figured out how to add ebooks to the ADE library, but when i dragged the ebook to the library, there was a message that said the file's format is currently not supported. I tried a couple other ebooks with the same results. Is there something i can do? I have windows 7 and intel core 13.
1. Is the printer connected with a cable, or is it wireless?
2. Have you installed the printer driver?

Dear Adobe Community,
I tried importing a QuickTime-Video into Premiere Pro CS5.5, which did not work because there was a codec missing. What can I do now?
Thank you in advance for your helpful comments!

Huge HD file sizes in iMovie when importing AVCHD files from HD Camcorder
Although several answers have been given on different ways to import HD files from a AVCHD camcorder, in this case a Sony one, the issue is what to do with the HUGE files it creates. I recorded 2 hours of HD content in about 30GB on the camcorder. I can burn those native HVCHD files on DVD's, took 6 of them, and play them on a Blue Ray player in HD. To edit, I tested a sample 50MB file that was about 3 minutes in length. It convered to quicktime file in the same 1920x1080 quality resulted in a file that was about 800MB, looked great, but how do I store or play a 20 minute version of it? iMovie is inadequate to do anything other than produce smaller size files for an iPod or lower quality, unless it is going to be a very short HD movie if doing true HD quality. One of the reasons I took the MAC plunge was the better multimedia capabilities. In this case, Apple (iMove and Final Cut) is behind.
I ended up shifting my HD editing back to a PC with $100 Sony Vegas software that can edit the AVCHD files and author in it. I can produce a DVD with about 25 minutes of edited HD in AVCDH file format and play it. I can also store the finished product in a much smaller space using AVCHD files. I have a 1 TB drive on my Mac that would be consumed if I worked in iMovie with converting all these AVCDH files and kept them in HD quality since it looks like it needs to expand them 12-16 times the AVCHD file size.
Yes, I know I could lower the quality to better work with them in iMovie, but that makes no sense to me. I want to record and edit in the HD format. Seems like these AVCHD cameras are becoming a standard since they are so efficient at storing HD content, iMovie needs to figure out how to edit and store them the same way. Very disappointed in how iMovie handles HD, to me it is NOT very good at handling HD, no good way to store or distribute it.
Am I missing soomething here? I have spent hours looking for a different answer, but have not found one yet? Maybe the next version of iMovie will be better. I like using it for SD DVD authoring, but for HD, did not work at all for me.
JonInteresting you say it is not meant for editing, but there are about a half dozen editor's for windows that will work on these exact files. I know with Sony Vegas that I have the same level of control with frame precision as I do with iMovie so I think there must be more to the story why Apple has not been able to support it like other software manufacturers who support windows. Don't get me wrong, i would love to do the work in iMovie and not have to learn something new. I don't have the storage space to use the HD apple format, that 2 hr of HD in AVCHD would turn into about 500GB then what do I put it on to play it. If the BlueRay standard calls for 25 or 50G disc's and we can get full two hour movies on them today, then they must be using a file format similar to AVCHD to fit on a disc, they cannot be using anything close to what Apple uses for HD files, it is just simple logic and math. So why doesn't Apple finure it out before everyone who starts working in HD comes to the same conclusion that the Apple QT file formats for HD is going to be an issue with space, you can create content, but cannot afford the disc space to store it or play it.

Question re: audio when importing AVCHD footage
Hi everyone,
I use a Panasonic AF-100 which records using the AVCHD codec and uncompressed PCM audio. When using the Log and Transfer function to transcode my footage, I see that in the Preferences menu of Log and Transfer, under "AVCHD", audio is stated to be "AC3" (and I do not believe this setting can be changed). When I transcode the footage to ProRes, does the audio get transcoded to the AC3 format and thereby gets compressed in the process?
If anyone knows and would like to share, that would be much appreciated!
A.According to the camera's specs (http://pro-av.panasonic.net/en/af100/spec.html):
[Audio recording playback]
Recording Format: PH mode: Dolby Digital/2ch, linear PCM digital/2ch switch HA/HE mode: Dolby Digital/2ch
Sampling Frequency: 48 kHz
Encoding: 16 bit
Compressed Bit Rate: Dolby Digital: PH mode: 384 kbpsHA, HE mode: 256 kbps
So the camera records audio in Dolby Digital. I'm not 100% certain on this, but aren't Dolby Digital and AC3 the same thing? At any rate, from the camera's specs, I don't see where the audio is recorded "uncompressed."
I don't think the audio gets transcoded to AC3 - I think it IS originally AC3 and gets transcoded to AIF (AIFF or AIFC) during the Log & Transfer process.

Strange error message when importing one schema into another
Hello,
using Oracle Workshop for Weblogic 10.3, I am trying to define a new schema A which imports the namespace of an already existing schema B. The schema validator states that schema B is valid.
However, when I try to add an import directive in the design view and try to select schema B as the schema location I get the error message that B.xsd is an invalid schema file. When I manually add the import directive in the source view, I can refer to all elements of the namespace defined in schema B. Unfortunately, schema A now is marked as invalid with the error message "The dependency is not configure in schema resource. Possible reason one or more import/include is not set correctly."
Even external schema validation tools do not find any validation errors in schema B.
Any ideas?
Kind regards

IMovie freezes when importing AVCHD from Canon HF20
I've recently bought a *Canon HF20 AVCHD* Full HD camcorder, and am having a hard time importing the footage through iMovie '09. Here's exactly what happens:
1. I connect the USB to the back port of the iMac. The camera indicates a flashing USB symbol and nothing else happens. It doesn't mount the camera drive and iMovie doesn't detect the camera.
2. OK, so I connect the USB to a powered USB hub and it displays the correct message on the camera, mounts the camera drive and iMovie detects the camera is connected correctly.
3. I tell iMovie to import the footage. After a while, the estimated time left begins to increase up to hours long, and the progress bar eventually stops, and iMovie freezes, whith the colored spinning wheel as the cursor.
Each time I try to import the footage, iMovie freezes at different points.
Does anyone else have this problem importing AVCHD footage into iMovie '09 ?
Thanks in advance,
João FaracoWell, judging from the deafening response, posting this question here is pretty useless.
