File Open Details
Audition 1.5
Announcers only want File Name and Date Modified to show when they choose File Open and Details.
Audition willnot keep setting for next File Open request.
Unfortunately the File Open dialogue is a Windows function not Audition, so Audition can't save the setting. However you can use a third part app to allow you to customise your File dialogues in Windows.

When doing the mailboximport i am getting the following error : unable to open pst file error details access to the path is denied.

I understand we no longer get thumbnails in file/open (thankyou apple and microsoft). But what happened to the detail panel for tiffs? I see it for jpegs (like who works with jpegs anymore). But not for tiffs. I have photoshop CS6 and am on Windows XP. I have the file/open function set for 'list.' I find setting it for anything else too cumbersome. And toggling bk and forth between file/open in photoshop and bridge is beyond cumbersome. How is this an improvement?
Oh well, I see you are viewing info for tif images and I can't but, as you said, it may be an XP vs Windows 7 issue...were you viewing this using Windows 7 or are you on a mac, which is a whole different ballgame?. The thumbnails accessable for 'list' view in all previous versions of Photoshop did the trick for me on another level. Using 'thumbnail' view doesn't work...it takes forever to load. I could use 'detail' view but I really like to see as many images listed as possible. So I use 'list' view.
Oddly, I get the information for jpeg images when hovering over an image name in 'list' view, but not for tiff images. That was what I was asking about...hoping that there might be some setting in photoshop. Actually, with all previous versions of Photoshop, hovering over an image name gave me a thumbnail, which I understand is now not accessable because of some dustup with apple and microsoft. As for the information, indeed, it is the same with CS5...I can see the info for jpegs but not tiffs.
It's a shame I've lost a valuable function and can't make something else fill in. As they say, it's not a bug it's a feature. Well, I will be upgrading to Windows 7 soon, which may solve some of my issues. I have Windows 7 on my laptop (but not CS6 because it's not powerful enough to support the program). I'll have to check out the info feature there.
I appreciate you folks being there for these questions. Between this, my new tablet and soon a new phone, it's info/tech overload at the moment for me. -
Set thumbnail view as default in the File open dialog box
When I hit File/Open in PS, the dialog box always opens in"details" and I have to hit the select view icon and chose "thumbnails". I've looked in preferences but can't find anything to change the default to Thumbnails. Is it that you have to do this somewhere in Windows OS ?
What versions of Photoshop and Windows are you running?
I ask, because running Photoshop CS5 and Windows 7 x64 when I select a view - e.g., Large Icons (which yields thumbnails) it sticks. Make sure you actually open a file after making the change.

Photoshop CS4 (11.0.2) crashes when file opens (Windows 7 x64 Pro)
Did a recent install of Windows 7 x64 Pro and installed Adobe Web Suite and updated all adobe programs. When I use photoshop to open a file, the file opens then photoshop hangs and windows says it has stopped responding then closes. This is a fresh install of windows...
I used drivermax to backup drivers from a previous install and install those drivers on the new install. After that I installed the newest graphics drivers via nvidia's website.
I installed all updates for the suite then I cleared my preferences, none of this worked.
Please let me know where I can find the crash log and any other logs so I can post that info here.

I am trying to open a .tiff file in photoshop by using bridge and it opens it as a photo in windows. If I go to file<open it says could not complete request because it is not the right type of document. It is a file from a lesson folder from school. Can anyone help me?
Hi,
The D810 requires Camera Raw 8.6 or later - the latest version that is compatible with Photoshop Elements 12 is Camera Raw 8.5 as far as I can see.
You need to either buy a new version of Photoshop Elements or use the free Adobe DNG converter.

My picture files open up off center so I cannot see all of the bottom part of the picture.
Hi,
My picture files open up off center so I cannot see all of the bottom part of the picture. The ruler across the top read "0" to 13.5". Down the left side of the picture the ruler reads 3", 2",1", 0, 1", 2",3" etc. This leaves a three inch empty space at the top of my viewing area and I lose three inches of the bottom of my picture. I cannot figure out how to adjust this. I have tried the screen modes and they do not fix my problem. What can I do to solve this problem? Please provide sensible details about your platform, exact version of your OS, exact version of Photoshop, complete details baout your setup, hardware details, monitor resolution, etc.
Please read this FAQ for advice on how to ask your questions correctly for quicker and better answers:

Using PhotoShop Elements 3, I would like the 'File Open' command to open with LIST VIEW, instead of 'Thumbnails'. Have not found a way to change the default to do this.
Just another amazing problem the MicroSoft will not fix. I prefer details view every time I open a file after just opening the application (e.g., MSWord, etc.), but every time I do this I have to manually select details view. I've tried everything to fix this short of purchasing 3rd party software to do it. I would guess I have done this 50,000 times (at my job) this year alone. But do you think Bill Gates cares that I wasted all of this time? You know the answer to that question. I just purchased a IMac for home (my 1st Apple computer since early 90's), and I'll never purchase another PC that is running the Microsoft operating system...

CS4 apps are VERY slow to open Windows file browser with File Open or File Save As commands
We are running CS4 on Windows 7 with all available updates installed. Photoshop and the other CS4 applications are VERY slow to open a Windows file browsing window to select files when File Open or File Save As menu options are run -- it can take as long as a minute or two for the window to open. Once the window opens and a file is selected, then opening or saving the file is very quick. The location of the default directory, whether it is on a local drive or a network drive, makes no difference. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

The link that I posted earlier is off. Read this one
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2501584. I discovered in my network that the MS Office File Validation Patch made excel crawl when opening over the network though nothing else changed. At the time I was opening Excel on Office 2003.
You can manually turn this off by editing the registry and tunring it off. Going forward I skipped the patch to keep my sanity. Not sure if this is the same as your issue, but the support article will go into detail how to either have Fix it
clear the issue or change the proper registry keys.
Hope this helps -
Hi there,
The default appearance of my File/Open and File/Save window has changed, and I neither know how nor do I know how to change it back.
The problem is that when I File/Save, it would open the File/Save window and display the folders/files by in a List (vs Thumbnail, Detail, etc.) by Name, which is what I desire.
But, somehow that changed. When I open the File/Save (or File/Open) window, the display is now in a List (which is prefered) by Date with the most recent at the top. This is definitely not my preference and is a setback to certain tasks I do.
I reset my defaults by doing alt-ctrl-shift upon start-up, but that has not affected my File/Save-File/Open window.
Can anyone tell me how to get back to where I was before? I am somewhat desparate for this fix and have no idea how it changed. So, heck, if anyone knows certain keystrokes I might have inadverdently hit that affected the change in the first place, I'd love to know what they are do I don't duplicate them!
I am on Photoshop CS3.
Thanks! I appreciate your help! Thanks for the reply! It turned out that "Version Cue" was enabled, so I disabled it. However, the same problem still occurs. My "File/Open" does not open sorted by name. And my "File/Save As" functions also are not sorted as they had been in the past. I think they are sorting by type, not name. I simply want to find the place that tells Photoshop what the default sort should be.
It has always been unclear to me how Photoshop decides what view to give me when I want to open or save a file. Sometimes it opens to a view that I was just saving to or opening from, and sometimes it goes back to My Pictures.
And I erred before. I have Photoshop CS2, not CS3.
Looking forward... -
Photoshop CS5.1 on 15" Macbook Pro (File opening/Application Frame problem)
I have seemed to narrow the problem to my preferences file but cannot figure out why.
I installed a clean, fresh version on my Mac. (No previous versions were ever installed).
When I open Photoshop for the first time, everything runs fine: I can open files and edit as usual.
As soon as I close it and re-open many things happen:
a) I can go to open a file, but with Window>Application Frame unchecked, I cannot see the open file.
b) All other palletes go awry. I cannot change the open palletes and or edit anything.
c) If I check Window>Application Frame, everything is back to normal. No problems here.
So, what is going on? Anyone else having this problem?I get this same issue with PS CS5.1 a recently purchased 15" Macbook Pro
In PS5.1 use File/Open to open an image file but image doesn't appear (histogram and other properies dialogs show the right info, though),
switching to Application Frame mode makes the photo appear,
trying to switch back out of App Frame mode locks PS5 up (ie nothing displays & have to Quit and restart via the Dock icon).
For me this issue only happens when my secondary display in NOT connected. If the 2nd display is hooked up everything shows up normally. Doesn't seem to matter about the power profile (ie running on battery or not) and not affected by various background apps, devices hooked up (eg backup drive, USB mouse. All Mac & CS5.5 software updates have been applied to date.

Photoshop CS6 File Open Dialog missing Preview ?
Why did Adobe remove the file preview area from the File > Open dialog box? I like having all my file requestors showing Details mode so I need the Preview window when I am navigating, browsing and opening files.
Illustrator CS6 still has a Preview window, granted it only works on AI files, it should be able to preview PDFs and EPS files correctly, let alone all raster formats.See this thread:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1026436
You're not likely going to get it back, but there are codecs you can add that will ease the pain, and potentially even make other parts of your system work better than they do now for your needs.

Losing filesystem space due to file open descriptors (lsof /opt/oracle )
Hi,
Our oracle mounted filesystem for /opt/oracle is constantly losing filesystem space due to file open descriptors (command to give the details -->lsof /opt/oracle).
When we issue this command single excutable apperas more time with diffrent process id and consumes space,
Is it realted to bug 3208807 ? or if any other please help me
Oracle Version : 9.2.0.4 with Data Guard
Regards
Manojlosing filesystem space due to file open descriptorsI think this has nothing to do with open descriptors.
Check following:
1. generation of trace files in bdump, cdump and udump directory (compress, move or remove *.trc files and cdmp_nnnnnn directories)
2. generation of network trace files is enabled (sqlnet.ora)
3. if your database files are located somewhere under /opt/oracle directory then check for autoextend datafiles
Check content of alert log and content of latest tracle files (in bdump) and if you are facing to bug 3208807 then trace files must contain error message as mentioned in 3208807.8 Note. -

SQL Server Management Studio File Open dialog is very slow to change directories
I am running Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 10.0.2531.0 on Windows 7 Professional.
I have an intermittent problem with the File Open dialog. Sometimes it works reasonably well, but often it takes a very long time (a few minutes) to change directory. While it is doing whatever it is doing, the dialog and all of SSMS becomes unresponsive
- I can't even cancel the dialog. It sometimes changes the cursor to an hourglass and sometimes not.
I do not have this problem with any other application.
I can open File Open one time and have this delay for every single directory change or if I open the Look In dropdown then, after closing it I can open it again and it will work with normal delays.
It is slow more often than it is normal.
It makes accessing files very impractical.Hi,
10.0.2531.0 is SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 (release April 2009)
