File open in native program, only if it is checked out in sharepoint

File associations
If .jph(xml file) file is checked-out in sharepoint, then file opens in native program exe on click on file link in sharepoint.
But if file is not cheked out, then on click it opens xml in browser.
I want file to be open in native progaram, on click on file link
Kindly suggest.

Hello,
If checkin/checkout is enabled for library then file is in read mode until you check it out. You may try one thing, just go to library settings-->advanced settings-->open file in client if it is set to browser.

Acrobat Pro X: File Open closes down program

Just installed my licensed copy of Acrobat Pro X on Windows 7- 64 BIT with lots of RAM & a great processor; I am a retired computer science teacher so am no novice. When I try to open any local a PDF on my hard drive by navigating within Acrobat Pro X: "Choose File > Open" the Acrobat program immediately just closes down every time (no messages, no warning, nothing). Yet the program is working fine when I open any PDF from OUTSIDE the program say an email or Windows Explorer. Same program closing occurs when I try to open a local PDF using the Splash Screen. Everything also works fine when I open a recent document from the Splash Screen..It's only the "OPEN" button both on the File Menu and the Splash Screen that "crashes" Acrobat Pro X....so peculiar & annoying...This is most disconcerting and I cannot find this problem for anyone else searching on Google. Can anyone get tot he bottom of this and help please?

Read only Sub Project Plans checking out in EPM

Hi all,
Has anyone working on Project Server come accross an issue where sub project plans inserted as 'Read Only' in a master Plan, check out and therefore prevent other access? Working on Project Server 2010 with Project 2010 SP2
clients.
The strange thing is that its not every single plan in a master that performs in this manner.
Has anyone seen this behaviour and does anyone know any fixes?

We've always had security on, the only thing that changed was my understanding of how we were doing security.
Before, I had written a custom UserCC that always returned the same name, after I used the standard UserCC. I had the same results both time.
The cause of my error message is "MDS repository may be configured incorrectly", which I kind of figured, but there's nothing to point me to diagnose how it is incorrectly configured or how to fix it.

HT1199 Adobe Reader won't open as freestanding program, only in browser

This has been going on for a while, perhaps since the upgrade to Lion OS. I understand that I need to open Adobe Reader and uncheck the instruction to open in a browser. However, when I click on Adobe Reader app the icon appears in the dock bar at the bottom of my screen, but this doesn't give me access to either settings or preferences; when I double click on it to open the program window, nothing happens that I can tell. It's like a catch 22, where I can't get to where I want to go from here... What can I do to get out of this vicious circle? The immediate issue is that a PDF ebook file will not open with the correct formatting in Firefox, and in Safari all I get is the first of 100 or so pages! Tech support at the PDF file's server has attempted to duplicate my problem on a Macbook Pro in both Firefox and Safari, and reports that their formatting is perfect...the problem resides only on my machine. I have deleted the downloaded copy of the PDF file, then redownloaded it; no improvement. I have uninstalled Adobe Reader, redownloaded and reinstalled it, checked for updates, rebooted; no improvement. By the way, Mozilla reports an instability problem with one of Adobe Reader's components, and has disabled it in Firefox; when I re-enable it and try to open a PDF file in Firefox, all I get is a blank page; behavior that corresponds with the problem documentation.

You are correct. If you really don't want the Reader to launch in Safari, shut down Safari. Go to the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder and remove the following two files:
AdobePDFViewer.plugin
AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
You may need to enter your admin password to complete the operation. If you check the Reader's preferences after that, you'll note that the check box is now off, though still grayed out.
Note though that this will not prevent PDF files from displaying in Safari since Safari itself will do that. This is assuming you are always doing a standard left button mouse click on any PDF link. In which case, the default is always to display the PDF file in the browser.
There is no way to open PDF files online directly into the Reader or Preview. You can wait until it finishes loading in the browser. Move towards the bottom of the screen and you'll have these choices (without the Adobe Reader plug-ins active):
Click on the third icon, which looks like a loupe on some paper. The PDF in the browser will then open into your default PDF viewer. Your only other option is to right click on a PDF link and choose Download Linked File, or Download Linked File As to save the PDF to your hard drive. From there, you then open it with the Reader.
Neither is what you want (opening a PDF online directly into a browser), but as I noted, it can't be done. The browser is the application with direct access to the online source, not the PDF viewer, or any other app.

Microsoft online help files open with wrong program

When ever I go to windows help and select an online article it tries to open with one of my paint programs. I can view any help files that are "on my computer" but if it's elsewhere, I can not open it. Can anyone tell me where I can change

Cannot delete pdfs - says Action cannot be completed because file open in another program

Please help. I cannot delete any adobe files because get message above. I have tried repairing Adobe Acrobat but does not help.

I have no idea of your Acrobat version. For example, AA9 is currently at 9.5.4. The updates may resolve your problem (Help>Updates). However, you may find you have to not only close Acrobat, but also check the running tasks to be sure it is totally closed. Do not disable AcroTray or you will lose the ability to print to the Adobe PDF printer.

Thank you for your advice. I followed your directions, but came up with the same results. However, I did discover that whenever I open up the iPhoto Library that is already existing on my MacBook a certain set of pictures shows up. But then when I open up the iPhoto Library from the Hard drive another set of pictures shows up. BUT not ALL of my pictures are showing up on the iPhoto Library from the hard drive. At least the last two years of pictures are not showing up?! Actually, it appears that all the pictures are there from when I started using iPhoto about 5 years ago up until around the time that I got my iMac desktop computer and started using that (2 years ago). I have noticed that more recent videos I have made are showing up in a folder on the hard drive, but will not appear when I open up iMovie?! Any ideas on how to access my pictures from the last 2 years off of the hard drive???

"Desktop" shows up 4 times in File-- Open sidebar

Hi,
Within the last week or so I have noticed that "Desktop" shows up 4 times in the places sidebar when I go to File --> Open from any program. In finder itself I don't have "Desktop" in the places sidebar at all. I thought Spaces could be the culprit, since I have four desktops; so I disabled spaces, and the annoyance remained. So if anyone has seen or had this happen to them, and fixed it, that would great.

Hard to tell why this is happening. It would seem that you have dragged the Desktop folder into the sidebar several times. Just select it and drag it out of the sidebar. Do this for the three extra copies.

Read an XML file into an ABAP program and manipulate it.

I would like to know if it is possible to do the following in an ABAP program:
1) Read an XML file into an ABAP internal table
2) Call an XSLT transformation on the source file and store the results in an ABAP table.
Is this possible to do? I have used ABAP XSLT in PI, but never in an ABAP program. I see you can use the CALL TRANSFORMATION command, but I have never used it in an ABAP program.

I have recently updated my CC programs to the latest version and now all of my files wont open by default into their respective programs, only if I open the program and go to file open and open the file from there. How can I fix this?

On Windows (don't know about Mac), the latest version will always take over the file association, and become the default for indd files. It's impossible to change it.
But there is a plugin for ID that makes this possible. Never tried it myself.

At the moment when you open a RAW-file from Adobe Bridge by double-clicking, RAW-file is opened only in Photoshop. In the settings Adobe Bridge - in "open RAW-files by double-clicking in Adobe Camera Raw» box is checked. When you try any changes in the settings Adobe Bridge system displays a message:
Bridge's parent application is not active. Bridge requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature.
The entire line of Adobe products on my computer updated to the latest updates. Previously, a family of products Adobe Photoshop on your computer is not set. Computer - PC, Windows 7 Enterprises.

Is it possible to only view files that could be opened by a program?

Hello all, this is my first mac and for the most part I find it as good or better than windows in almost everyway. One feature that I guess I took for granted in windows was that it only displayed files that could be opened by a program in that program. For instance when I am in powerpoint and I want to open another powerpoint file, I would hit open and it would only display powerpoint files. I have noticed in OS X if you go to open, then enable all powerpoint files all it does is grey out everything but the powerpoint files. Is there anyway instead of graying them out, it just doesn't display them like what happens in windows? Thanks for your help, Scott

This has nothing to do with the OS. It's controlled by the individual program. The programmer has to write the specific code for what will or will not be displayed in a file dialog. If the programmer uses the code primitives "normally" then unmatching files are grayed out. This way you can still see files in the directory in case you want to open a file that has the wrong extension. Usually the application provides a drop down menu where you can select options such as display all files, only matching files, etc. However, the programmer has to implement these features.
One thing that will help you a great deal is to stop looking for OS X to be like Windows. Although there are many elements that are similar there are many more that are not. If you haven't read this yet, you may find it helpful: Switch 101.

Are you saving the files to a server? Did you email a version of the file and then continue to work on it without closing it?

Error when opening XLSX file with Excel 2003 SP3, file does open but in read only mode with temporary name

I am using Excel 2003 SP3 and have the Office 2007 compatibility pack installed. When I open Office 2007 formatted Excel files (XSLX) directly in Windows Explorer, I receive the following error if I do not have Excel already opened:
"Windows cannot find '<path to file>'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."
Even though I receive the error, the file does open; however, it opens in Read Only mode with a name such as "Xl0000024.xls". The number seems to increment up each time it happens.
Now here is the strange part. If I have Excel already open and try to open the file in Windows Explorer, the file opens fine in Modify mode with no error and with the correct file name.
I Googled the error I was getting and found KB211494. It says I should uncheck the box in Options on the General tab that says "Ignore other applications", but this box is already unchecked in my case. Any other ideas? This is
really frustrating as a small percentage of our company has upgraded to Office 2007 with the rest still on Office 2003.

This may be a file association problem. To solve that:
In Windows 7:
1. Right-click the file,
2. Select "Open With"
select [Your Program Here]
3. Check always use this program.
In Windows XP:
1. Locate the file as you have described above
2. Right click the file
3. Select Open with from the pop-up menu
4. Click Choose default program…
5. Select Excel in the Recommended Programs box
6. Check Always use the selected program to open this kind of file
7. Click on OK.
1. Make Excel not available from Office 2007 listed under Programs and Features in Control Panel.
2. Take a registry backup using the steps given here
3. In the registry editor window expand HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and navigate to .xls right and delete it.
4. Exit Registry Editor
5. Undo Step 1 to make Excel available.
6. Restart the computer and verify it the issue is fixed.

How to open Adobe Reader file from another native IOS application?

There is an existing thread, but I want to re-open it because I think this is an important feature that we need badly. I was wondering if there is any plan to add this feature so we can open PDFs directly into Adobe from the web / other apps.

Basically, we just want to use a custom URL scheme to open a specific document in the App. Currently, this only opens the app but does not load the file.

Not to hijack the conversation but I can explain why this would be useful for both the above case and another.
What I believe Pavel is talking about is setting up a "URL Scheme" for the Adobe Acrobat iOS application so that you can easily open a PDF specifically in Adobe Acrobat iOS from other native applications and even from web applications opened within Safari. This is particularly useful if your application requires some of the specific features in Adobe Reader iOS to grant them the best experience possible and you want to encourage this.
Another case: If you're using Adobe Livecycle's document security modules (that encrypts PDF files so that Adobe Acrobat must "phone home" to decrypt and view the document), these PDF's can only be viewed inside the Adobe Acrobat application and appear as blank in most other PDF readers. Having a URL scheme allows your application utilising this functionality to have a 1 click step to view the PDF rather than the current non-user friendly process:
- Within Safari, touch the PDF link (appears as blank in the default Safari PDF reader, which in itself is confusing)
- Touch "Open in..."
- Touch "Adobe Acrobat"
We have an immediate need for this functionality for the example above. I can resubmit it in a separate post if necessary.
