File-Open Sequence

I want to make a video of jpg images using File->Open Sequence.
The problem is that Quicktime doesn't take the right files in the right order. Sometimes it "jumpes" some files or it takes files in a wrong order. However, all my image files are named with number chronologically. What is the problem?

  • Window: Arrange: Tile - Breaks open sequence of files

In CS3 this worked perfectly. CS4 it was broken with no workaround. In CS5 it's partially fixed but still not working. I work on animated sequences and use the Window, Arrange, Tile to display all the files at once. To open files in PS and keep the file sequence in order I use Bridge. Each animation is 36 frames (files). I need to have two or more 36 frame animations open at a time and keep them in sequence. CS5 opens the first 36 in perfect order. Then when I open the next 36 from Bridge the sequence breaks. You can watch the files opening in correct sequence as they open in PS in the default Cascade arrangement, but when you go to Window, Arrange, Tile you can see CS5 is not respecting the order in which the files are were opened. It's randomizing the order based on some unknown sequence. I don't think there's a preference to control this behavior so have I discovered a bug?
CS3 files opened in perfect sequence
CS5 files opened in broken sequence
    6/4/10 Adobe tech support update:
According to tech, PS set a limit on the amount of open files recommended at 50 files. After 50 the sequence gets random. I told the tech this means I am no longer able to do my work in PS CS5. Glad I kept a copy of my trusty CS3 around.

Wow so far changing this to "Basic" returns it to typical behavior, thanks! What do I lose going to Basic? It doesn't seem slower. I only ran Bridge of course, which must compete for graphic processor memory(?) (NVidia GTS 250/1024 MB).
Also: When you open a file in PS 5, the tool bars are independent of the file window. When you close the file window using the red button in the upper left hand corner, all of PS 5 disappears, and there is Bridge behind it  showing you your prior open folder of images. Now a big ugly empty PS window blocks that view. How do I get rid of that thing? Before I could also minimize just the file window to the dock, getting it out of the way temporarily so as to view other files and/ or bridge, without actually closing it.
Thanks again, the tiling really frustrated me.

  • Sequence of files opened by PS

When opening a stack of images from Bridge into Photoshop, PS arranges the files in descending order, highest number in front of cascade, lowest number in rear.  I'd like them to open in ascending order ... in order to edit the pix in chronological order.  Anyone know of a way to get PS to do that ? I've tried Option + Files Open and that didn't do the trick.  Thx

The order in which the images are opened is determined by their sort order in Bridge (first image shown in Bridge will open first in Photoshop). Therefore, to open them so that they're in chronological order you will need to reverse their order in Bridge using the Sort Order button (see screen shot).
When using Stacks in Bridge above procedure becomes slightly more complicated in that you need to define the sort order before the stack is created. Unfortunately, this means that the actual stack will display in reverse order.

  • Know steps names of called sequence file using sequence call step type in TestStand

    Hi,
I have a problem in accessing step names in called sequence file using "Sequence call"step type in TestStand 4.0.
I would list out all step names of called sequence file. Is it possible to do through C#.NET? If, yes, Please explain to me in detail with possible example.
    Thank you,
    regards
    RKK

    Hey RKK,
I want to first set your expectations for the forums.  This is not a place for people to review and rewrite your code for you; this is a place for specific and general questions.  I am not saying your question in this thread is inappropriate, because it is a good questions.  We should just not post code and ask others to fix it here.  If you are looking for this type of service we have alliance members that can help you write your TestStand Operator Interface (www.ni.com/alliance).
As for you question about getting the sequence names for a sequence file that is not the currently running sequence file, you will need to open a reference to that sequence files and then use the API calls that I mentioned in my previous posts.  You can use the Enigine.GetSequenceFileEx function to open a reference to sequence file, and you will need to close the reference with the Engine.ReleaseSequenceFile function when you are done using it.  After you have a reference to this external Sequence File, you can use the example dll and sequence I previously sent you.  I also attach a new sequence file (SeqFile2.seq) plus an updated GetNames.seq to illustrate how to use the above mentioned functions.  I hope this helps.  Have a great day!

  • Modify not allows to Edit file in Sequencer

    Hi,
I am trying to edit a file in Sequencer (5.0 sp2) that can be opened with Notepad after local installation.
When right click on file there are : Add Delete Modify.
When click Modify it provides the box for a path. I guess Modify means Replace...
    Do I am missing something?

    Falco,
thanks for explanation on editing in sequencer...
Can I change/replace the file in c:\Program Files\Program_NAME after installation is done in sequencer and before clicking
    I am finished installing.
I want to be sure that it will take effect in the package. I think Yes.
I prefer to have the file replaced before Running the app for first feature block...
And it will be more appropriate than replacing the file in sequencer before saving.
Please confirm that I can replace file/files before clicking I am finished installing.

  • Crashing when opening 'sequence settings'

each time i try to open "sequence settings" from the "settings" tab, the application crashes. any ideas?
    thanks.

possibly one of the sequence preset files themselves are corrupted?
try creating a new user account and logging in under that account name, then launch FCP in that new account and see if you experience the same issues with opening sequence settings
also try opening the *Final Cut Pro* menu *> Audio Video Settings...* window and step through the various settings to see if that shakes anything out
try the same thing from the Sequence menu *> Sequence Settings...* window

  • When Photoshop CC is executed, the first File- Open takes 30 seconds and every File- Open after that is instant. Why is this?

I have Photoshop CC in my Laptop.  When I first load it/execute photoshop, File -> Open  it takes approx 30 seconds to return a selection.  If I do another File -> Open after this it is instant.
If I Quit Photoshop and reload it the first File -> Open takes another 30 seconds and then instant.  It is only the first Occurrence.
    I have a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD 4GB RAM.
If I do  start -> Photoshop -> Previously used file it loads no problem.
If I try the same things with Photoshop CS5 no problem.
    Why?
Forgot to add that I am running windows 7 x64 if that makes a difference.
I have found the problem.  I disconnected the internet from my laptop and it worked instantly.  So Adobe you need to improve your response times on this facet of the login as it is a pain.
Now I will stop looking for problems with my system....
Please advise if there is a work around...
    Thanks
    Ron

Looking at my dbus messages above, the following section from pacman.log looks very suspicious:
    $ grep disk /var/log/pacman.log
    [2010-03-26 22:57] installed devicekit-disks (009-5)
    [2010-03-26 22:57] installed gnome-disk-utility (2.28.1-1)
    [2010-04-01 07:52] removed devicekit-disks (009-5)
    [2010-04-01 07:52] installed udisks (1.0.0-2)
    [2010-04-01 07:53] upgraded gnome-disk-utility (2.28.1-1 -> 2.30.1-1)
    [2010-04-10 11:07] upgraded udisks (1.0.0-2 -> 1.0.1-1)
No time currently to check if downgrading these helps. Also looks kinda complicated because udisks replaces devicekit-disks.
This also looks somehow related: http://groups.google.com/group/linux.de … 0f49cd9b53
    Edit:
OK, the symptoms can be replicated with the following command sequence:
    sudo /etc/rc.d/dbus restart
udisks --dump # <-- this takes forever.. 24 seconds on my system
udisks --dump # <-- any subsequent calls finish instantly, 0.043 seconds on my system

  • Open sequence method anywhere?

    Hello,
I'm making a edit substep using labview for a step type, which will open a teststand sequence in the editor.  There already is an item "open sequence", but this particular step type executes a sequence by expression at runtime, so we can't open at edit time using the "open sequence" item.  The substep will prompt the user for the necessary information to find the right sequence, but then I want to call a method to open the sequence in teststand, in the same way as "open sequence" works when you right click on a sequence call.
I have browsed the methods/properties for "sequence context/engine", and I see an "open workspace file" item, but we are not using workspaces (which is a completely different post).
So can anyone tell me where there might exist an "open sequence" method with which I can open a teststand sequence in the editor?
    Thanks
    David Jenkinson

    Hey David,
I'm not sure this is possible unless you have a custom seq. editor or you do it in the UI.  That is if I understand you correctly.  Basically you want to dynamically load a sequence file into the seq. editor?  Is that correct?  If so you can load it into memory just not have it show in the seq. editor.
    GetSequenceFileEx Method
    Syntax
    Engine.GetSequenceFileEx ( sequenceFilePath, getSeqFileFlags = GetSeqFile_OperatorInterfaceFlags, handlerType = ConflictHandler_Error)
    Return Value
    SequenceFile
    A SequenceFile object.
    Purpose
Returns the SequenceFile object for the sequence file specified by the sequenceFilePath parameter.
    Remarks
Loads the sequence file from disk, if necessary. Call ReleaseSequenceFileEx on this object before releasing it.
This method loads the sequence file into the engine's internal cache and adds a load reference to the sequence file. TestStand uses the load reference count to determine when to unload the sequence file from the engine's internal cache. In addition to this method, the SequenceFile.AddLoadReference and Engine.NewSequenceFile methods also add a load reference to the sequence file. The Engine.ReleaseSequenceFileEx method removes a load reference.
You must call Engine.ReleaseSequenceFileEx for each load reference that you add to the sequence file. When you release the last load reference, TestStand unloads the file from the engine's internal cache. While unloading the file from the cache, TestStand executes the SequenceFileUnload callback, if applicable.
You can use SequenceAdapter.GetSequenceFile to examine the contents of a sequence file without running load and unload callbacks, without preloading modules, and without merging types.
    Hope that helps,

  • Photoshop CS4 Crashes on File-Open

After using Photoshop CS4 for 9 months, I now get an instant crash whenever I open an image with File-Open. I see the image I wanted to open for a few seconds at the back of the error message (1st screenshot, below) and then it disappears - on clicking OK on the first error message, I get a second error message (2nd screenshot, below). I upgraded to version 11.0.1 - no difference. I have completely uninstalled all plug-ins - no difference. I have completely uninstalled and then reinstalled Photoshop to version 11.0 - no difference. I have upgraded a clean install to version 11.0.2 - no difference. I have deleted the prefs file - no difference. I deleted a set of new fonts I had installed after reading a thread on this forum - no difference. Occasionally, I CAN open a file from Windows Explorer with the right-click menu Open With... Adobe Photoshop CS4 then, after doing that, FIle Open does not cause a crash for opening one file, sometimes 2 but then I get the crashes again until the next time I run Photoshop but it seems random as to when it will open a file or not.
I am now considering uninstalling all Adobe products, manually clearing out the registry and then trying another install but all this is taking time I don't have.
Does anyone have any other suggestions I could try. I am getting desperate!
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Memory address issues can be tough to track down. Often, they will occur when a program either mis-reports the memory addresses used, or tells the OS that it has released them, when it has not.
Though written with video editing in mind, there still might be some tips for setting up your computer, in this ARTICLE. If you have Win7, please look down-thread for Black Viper's tuning page.
Now, Adobe programs have always been great at reporting their memory usage, but it could still happen - I've just never encountered it over the decades.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

I have recently updated my CC programs to the latest version (CC2014) and now all of my files wont open by default into their respective programs, only if I open the program and go to file>open and open the file from there. How can I fix this?
I have tried 'Open with' and the version of the program now installed on my computer isn't even suggested as an option and when I browse for it, the file wont open with it anyway

On Windows (don't know about Mac), the latest version will always take over the file association, and become the default for indd files. It's impossible to change it.
But there is a plugin for ID that makes this possible. Never tried it myself.

  • File Open Dialog Box

Under my install of Vista Enterprise on an AD network, I'm am not getting the "computer" option to access local and network drives when I select "File/Open".  All I get is the redirected "home" directory for that user.  True for all Adobe applications (have the latest Creative Suite 4).  Other Windows apps using Windows file/open dialog box can get to the network.  Tech support said I should have an option to select the OS dialog box, but I do not see that on my install.

In Edit > Preferences > File Handling, uncheck "Enable Version Cue".  This is where you will find it in CS4; earlier versions may have slight variations.  In some versions, you may also get a checkbox in the file open dialog (down at the lower left, as I recall) that lets you select OS dialog or Adobe dialog.   Also, in Bridge (again CS4), go to Edit > Preferences > Startup Scripts, and uncheck Adobe Version Cue CS4.  (I have this unchecked, and even with Enable Version Cue checked in PS I don't get the Adobe dialog or the option to set it, so the setting in bridge seems to be the master.)
