File order in site map
This evening I actually accidentally clicked somewhere on the
page, and the
order of the local map reversed, but the remote map remained
unchanged (now the
remote map has subdirectories, then files in alphabetical
order, whereas the
local map has files in reverse alphabetical order, then
subdirectories).
I have no idea what I did, and, can find nothing useful in
help. I am using
Dreamweaver MX. Can anyone tell me how to retrieve the
situation?

GaragebandHI Paul, I'm not sure what the question is. If you meant that the communities are listed on the front page, then yes they are, but that view does not include links to specific categories, such as Airprint for the iPad. The list provides a way of finding direct shortcuts to these filtered sections of communities, either for your own use as a bookmark or when recommending a potentially useful area of the site to explore in your answers to others.

Is there a way to create a site map of all RoboHelp topics in a published project?
My company uses an external search of our published RoboHelp options (as well as the internal; the external search covers all projects instead of a single one). We're looking to change search programs, but according to our web developer a lot of searches have issues finding the topics inside the published projects because of the way it links to topics using Javascript.
I think I know the answer to this question, considering it hasn't come up in any of my searches, but in case I need a second cup of coffee -- is there a site map or listing of links within a RoboHelp project that includes all the topics? Alternately, does anyone know of a service or program that can easily create a site map from a RH project? For reference, we're using RoboHelp 9.
Thanks!Look in Tools > Reports.
Some can be saved as files. Others you can copy and paste into a text file.

Help im having problems with site maps google etc with iweb09
hi guys i have iweb 09 and im trying to get google to recognize my site map ,ive posted the site map in to my url folder of my domain name and also ive posted the google html file but google says error and will not verify, why is iweb so bad for this??what can i do i really need help?????????????
An HTML verification file is better than a tag.
You can make up a sitemap for free or use a third party application.
You will find all this information in this section of iWeb for Musicians.....

Submitting site maps for multiple sites to Google
I sort of glommed on to the end of the thread "meta and google-ing...i give up," but I'll start a fresh post here with this:
I have three sites in iWeb, all of which have their own registered Go Daddy domain names and are forwarded to .mac without masking. I followed James Tseng's instructions and successfully submitted to Google and verified my "www.mac.com/user/iWeb" url.
I also successfully uploaded a site map for one of my sites (let's just call it Site 1), which is in my iWeb folder (not the Site 1 folder).
My question: I assume I can create separate site maps for Sites 2 and 3. Do they also go in the same iWeb folder as the first one? Is that possible if they're all named "sitemap.xml" or do they have to be given different names?
Also... if I want to submit these three sites to other engines like MSN and Yahoo, can I submit the forwarded domain names, or will these engines not follow the forwarding to my .mac url?
If that's the case, is it best to submit the single "www.mac.com/user/iWeb url" as I did with Google, or should I submit each site's .mac url separately?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Mitch<As posted in the the other thread...>
Hi Mitch....
I hope you've been finding all this helpful so far! It's always fun to see just how much feedback you can get from Google. Sort of gives you a feeling that "you've arrived". haha.
Regarding your question about sitemaps and multiple sites.... My strategy is this... I like to give Google sort of the broadest catch that I can. That's why I really suggest to people that they register the most general URL... http://web.mac.com/username/iWeb/ . You see how that really leaves the door open for the possibility of multiple sites, without having to register multiple sites. Google really doesn't care that you call them separate sites...to Google they appear as part of the same site...with the same base verified URL.
So with that registered URL, there really is only one place where the verification file and sitemap.xml file can go. And that place is in the iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/ folder. And there is really only a need for a single verification file and a single sitemap.xml file, no matter how many sites you have. The point here isn't telling Google that you have more sites...it's just about telling Google that you have more LINKS in the site that it already knows about.
So how do you do this? Just spider your new site or gather the links in your own way and then copy and paste the links (just the links section...not the first two lines or the last line of the code) into the sitemap.xml file that you have already submitted before. Then resubmit it to Google.
Does this make sense? Let me know what you think. -
How to not show pages in the Site Map
This is probably the easiest question of them all... but...
How do you not show pages in the site map?
It seems that by default, all pages are added to the sitemap.
Is it a case of unchecking "enabled" and checking "exclude from search results" under "More Options" on the page itself?
Or another way?Hi David,
The "exclude from search result" will remove from the sitemap.xml "yoursite.com/sitemap.xml" and from major search engines from being picked up. If you tick this option please allow for a few hours to have the xml to reflect the changes.
"If you select this option then this web page will be excluded from the site search feature built into this system as well as from the sitemap.xml file submitted to the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Live."
The sitemap module found under site settings is not related to the xml file so you'll need to manually remove and insert onto your page if using this feature.

Hope this clarifies.

Dear Great Knowers,
Everytime I make a new site, it shows a warning:
The selected folder does not contain the current site's home page. The site map annot be built.
The folder I choose is the main folder holding all of the site, including the index.html file.
Any ideas why getting this message?
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this message. Really appreciate.
Sincerely,
HopeHappy help.
It does seem odd that DW needs this prodding sometimes.

I switched to iPage hosting since Mobile Me is expiring. Also recently upgraded to OS X 10.7.3 and am using iWeb 3.0.4 for my web site design. I published directly to the FTP from iWeb but all title tags, meta tags have disappeared and I'm not showing up in Google or others. I tried publishing from iWeb SEO but it couldn't complete the process.
Should I first publish to a folder as I did before with Mobile Me, then delete all old sitemaps and start over with the Site Map Automator and then try to publish from the SEO tool? Will I lose the key words and meta tags that are already in iWeb SEO?
Thanks! The problem is that most tech support people don't understand how iWeb structures a site.
When a visitor types in "domain-name-com" the browser expects to find an index.html in the root folder on the server. In "normal" websites the index.html file is the first page of the site.
The iWeb index.html file is a redirect to the first, or landing, page of the site which is the one at the top of the left column in iWeb just below the site name.
iWeb produces two index.html files.
One is outside of the folder containing the rest of the files and directs to - folder-name/home-page-name.html
The other one is inside the folder and directs to - home-page-name.html
You have two choices of how you upload the files since you are publishing to a local folder.
You can upload the whole folder plus the external index.html to the root folder on the server and the URL to any page will be...
http://www.domain-name.com/site-name/page-name.html
If you upload the contents of the site folder, and not the folder or the external index.html, the URL will be...
http://www.domain-name.com/page-name.html
See this page for more info and the warning about breaking the RSS feed....

How to make css 2 column site map?
Hello
Wondering what's the best way to convert this site map page -
http://www.enhancedwireless.net/Company/siteMap.shtml
- to css? I'd like two columns as is now. How would I do this?
Beginner at css.
Thanks
KBHi,
I built something very similar for a client using only css.
Take a look at
http://www.mra-inreach.com/sitemap.html
You can see the css file that I created for the styling and
positioning of some simple unordered lists.
You are welcome to disect the html and css to see how how I
did this.
There are also plenty of css tutorials on css, which I
recommend you start searching for if you are a serious
developer/designer.

KMZ (Google Earth) files on iWeb site
I use MotionX GPS to record tracks of our trips.
I then email the track to myself. This results in an attached KMZ file.
Launching the file launches Google Earth and the track is nicely displayed with the start and finish pins at the top and bottom of the window.
I would like to add the tracks to my iWeb blog, so that a visitor could select a track and GE would launch (in another window, if need be) and display the track.
Does anyone (Old Toad maybe?) know how to do this in iWeb?
Thanks, HNickOK. I think I got it so far. I got the GE plug-in (really the API, right?). Got my magic ID number (long). I now have GE in iWeb.
there are two parts, the ifr part is web gadget and an api for embed kml link to the gadget.
What I don't understand is how to get the KMZ files (one for each trip - 6 of them so far) into iWeb, so that they can be opened in GE.
first, upload your kmz files to your web host.
It looks like Cyclosaurus' example uses the track as part of the GE api - in my case that would be a separate instance (?) of GE for each track?
that's correct, go to my GE example here: http://goo.gl/w307f
copy the url (it's a long url) and paste it in text editor.
search for &upkmlurl= , you'll see it points to my kmz file on my site, replace my url with an absolute url points to one of your kml file.
also search for &title= and replace what after that with a title for your track.
end product is your GE URL to view in a browser. - long url -
back to your iweb project, add an html snippet; copy + paste the following:
<iframe src="put your GE URL here - the long url " frameborder="0" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" allowtransparency="true"></iframe>
in iweb this will display as google map because iweb does not have support for GE plug-in, this also is true for browser that does not support GE plug-in such as ie. that's the fall back mode.
repeat the process for the other KMZ. -
I need to sort the incoming file contents before message mapping
Hi All,
I have requirement like i have to sort the file contents before message mapping in Xi. is there any option please suggest me with your value information.i dont want to sort in message mapping before that i want file contents to be sorted order.waiting for your quick reply.
Thanks,
seshagiriHi,
You can do this in one scenario.
Lets say you have MT_Source and MT_Target as two message types.
Now your MM1 will be between MT_Source & MT_Source, that is same message type. Here you built your sorting logic.
Now create MM2, between MT_Source & MT_Target. Here your actual mapping logic will be implemented. The input payload for MM2 will be sorted data.
Now in operation mapping, first call MM1 and then call MM2 (You have a plus + sign to add multiple mapping programs). Due to this sequence, at run time first MM1 will be executed and after that its oupt will be given to MM2 as source payload.
Hope its clear. Plz let me know if you have any doubts.

No. It's one of the features that was removed from CS4. Adobe

Hi All,
I have had a bit of advice on google already, however I thought that I would open this up to the wider forum as I have checked through other posts and cannot seem to get an answer that will work for me.
I am needing to add a site map as I believe that this will help google 'trawl' my website and I also need to get my site verified on google, however I am having problems uploading the html code via cyber duck or file zilla to my website.
In advance I will say that I am not very technically minded and it has taken several months to get my site up and running to how it is at the moment, however I am proud of what I have achieved through working stuff out and learning the techniques on this site. I will not purchase any program that I do not need to and I thank you all so very much in advance for your time and patience.
In relation to SEO, is it worth me spending the money on someone else doing this with me not being so technically minded?
Website is here: www.blackstar-events.co.uk (I appreciate all feedback, both positive and constructive)
Kind Regards,
LauraThis is the URL of your Home page....
http://www.blackstar-events.co.uk/Blackstar-Events/Blackstar_Events.html
From this it looks like you have uploaded a folder called Blackstar-Events to to your server. This probably sits inside a folder called "public_html" or something like that which is why you have the extra - /Blackstar-Events - in the URL.
If you upload the Google verification file and the sitemap.xml to the root public folder, the path will be....
http://www.blackstar-events.co.uk/google.html and http://www.blackstar-events.co.uk/sitemap.xml
If the Google verification file and the sitemap.xml have been uploaded to the Blackstar-Events folder which contains all the rest of your website files, the path is....
http://www.blackstar-events.co.uk/Blackstar-Events/google.html and
http://www.blackstar-events.co.uk/Blackstar-Events/sitemap.xml
If you uploaded the Google verification file, try entering both variations of the URL into the browser...
http://www.blackstar-events.co.uk/google.html
http://www.blackstar-events.co.uk/Blackstar-Events/google.html
.... to see which is successful. Obviously, you have to substitute your google file name for "google.html".
For more information on all this see....

Google tell me to insert their codes for a site map in the <head> section before the first <body> section.. but where in exact terms is the head & body section on my 09 iwebsite?
It's been a while since I had to verify my sitemap with Google, but if I remember, there were two options for verification. The one I chose was an HTML file verification. That's a file that would be put in your Site Folder in GoDaddy. Google would then crawl your site to verify that way. I found that much easier than putting a file in the website itself.
It would be a file that looks like this: googlebe235d8cb7e91037.html
And would live in your Site Folder on Godaddy like this: -
Help creating a site-map for my iweb website
Hello,
I was able to list my site with google, no problem. However, following the instructions below to verify didn't work. #1- text edit has no choice for a simple text file. #2 - my mac will not allow me to save any kind of file except html file ending with html. #3 - I've tried using word and no matter what kind of save I attempt to save the google file name, I keep getting the same message, which is -> Verification status: NOT VERIFIED
We've detected that your 404 (file not found) error page returns a status of 200 (Success) in the header.
And the site map thing is simply over my head. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks ---- Roy
Here's what I want you to do... your going to register with Google, submit your site for verification, and then make and submit a sitemap for your site. Okay? Here goes...
Go to this page and login or register for a Google account... http://www.google.com/webmasters/
This opens up a lot of tools to see how your site is doing. I have already confirmed that Google has none of your pages in its index using the Site Status Wizard.
Once registered, click on "Webmaster Tools" and then enter your iWeb URL under "Add Site". I want you to type in your iWeb URL like this: http://web.mac.com/jlutz/iWeb/
Click OK. Congratulations, your site is registered with Google. Now onto verifying that it is your site...
Click on "Verify" next to your registered URL. You'll be presented with a choice of verification methods. Choose "Upload an HTML file". Google will give you the filename to use, like "googlef429021c837438ca.html" All you have to do is to create a blank file with TextEdit. Save it to your desktop as a plain text file. Then rename it with the filename that Google gave you (yes you want to use the .html extension in case you are asked). Then just copy this file to your iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/ folder. That's it.
Click Verify...you should get verified immediately. Congratulations.simon4423,

The error you are seeing (We've detected that your 404 (file not found) error page returns a status of 200 (Success) in the header.) is something I have noticed on and off with my .Mac sites lately too. It used to work fine, but now sometimes .Mac verifies, sometimes it doesn't. Try both verification methods and see if one works over the other. If you are still having trouble, I know Max (
