File ordering...

Am i missing something here.?
I have bins setup with footage in but can not for the hell of it work out how to change the order to go along with the file names. All of the footage is in random orders whihc isn't helpful.
Now if I go to list view all is good, but I find using the thumbnail and hover scrub very usefully but it doesn't seem to have my files in order. Some chucnks of the files are in order but still mixed up a lot. Can I not just click something to display in ascending or descending order.?
Using Cs6 and importing from in Premiere Pro, Canon DSLR footage.
I must be missing something.?

  • How do I organise a photo show in file order?

I'm trying to import a load of photos into a movie I'm making. I've named them all so they stack in the correct order, but Premier 8 seems insistant on putting them in date order, which is no good for my purposes.
How do I get it to put them into the movie in file order?

That works, thank you Steve! I had in in "Projects" but "grid view" which doesn't seem to give that option. As a list it does.
The next issue I have is that the photos are very high quality and imposible to drag onto the timeline it seems. I guess the only answer is to reduce the file sizes?

  • PSE9 Organizer File Order display

Before PSE9 if I chose to display the images in file order it did just that, no more.
In PSE9 displaying the images in file order imposes a selection on the images, So, if choose to look at a particular folder the it selects the files in that folder to the exclusion of files in all other folders.
In this screenshot I have clicked on a folder which has 17 files in it. It says at the bottom left of the screen that it has 'selected' 17 images out my 16000 files.
Now here is the same display in PSE8
The same 17 files from that folder are displayed, but them so are the ones in the following folder and I could scroll down through all 16000 of them without needing to select another folder. Note that there is no mention of 17 files having been selected at the bottom left hand corner.
All I specified was a display order, not a selection of which files to display.
It seems that in PSE9 if I want to select images from an assigned tag the only way it can be done is to display the images in date order in the tagged files are in different folders. This is useless.
Please can anyone explain the logic in this 'update'?

I would love to go back to PSE8 as it worked perfectly.
Unfortunately I bought a new Nikon D7000 and PSE8 does not recognize it.
I was informed that I needed PSE9 to use my new Nikon.
Here is my post to a response that claimed I needed to do a 10-14 step workaround for an issue :
I realize that I sounded extremely negative BUT I have had Photo Elements since 2001.
I Never had a problem with any part of the software.
To me the main reason that individuals like me get Elements is because of its ease to work with compared to PhotoShop.
Let me list the problems that I am having :
    Bridge
    (1) The thumbnails do not show the picture
    (2)  You cannot attach to an email from Bridge.
    (3)  It now lists the file by date not consecutive numbering.
I contacted Nikon and they say it is a software issue not the camera.
    Organizer :
    (1)
It takes over an hour to load a picture from Elements (after you do a PP, even a simple crop) into organizer and it renders Organizer useless during the load process.
A window drops and says "Element Organizer is currently busy and cannot process the request".
Sometimes it shows the picture and says : "edit in progress" with a Lock symbol.
If you wanted to share or do anything else in Organizer you are stuck until it transfer the picture.
    (2)
The email size has issues :
Big, medium level (slide bar with numbers) : never loads and I have to force quit Organizer and Mail
Very Big, medium level: looks like a postage stamp or never loads
Medium, any level size is Ok and what I have to use.
    (3)
When I send a picture via email from Organizer from my ATT email address after it sends it, it puts it back in my MAC mail draft box.
I have to delete it and close mail out otherwise if I only delete it, it reappears again in the draft box.
    (4)
I have not tried any of the other features, Facebook etc, Heaven only knows what else I would encounter.
    (5) Periodic crashes of Organizer while in it.
    (6)
The Notion that previously went from RAW edit to PSE for PP and the adjusted pictured stayed in Bridge or where I wanted to put it and now
Adobe decided that you need to use Bridge for RAW edit into PSE and then into another program (Organizer) is not the simplistic way it was originally designed for people like me.
    (7)
These issues occur with both RAW and jPeg files.
In the past several PSE always had a separate MAC version that came out several months after the windows version.
This time they consolidated the versions and I am concerned that this was a mistake that is leading to these issues.
I am a MAC User and bought a new DLSR Nikon D7000, Which Adobe told me that I would have to upgrade to PSE 9 to allow Adobe to work with the D7000.
I am guessing that there are too many issues here and Adobe should have check any MAC issues and issued a separate software package.
If anyone from Adobe reads these posts and gets PSE 9 to work with a combined MAC and D7000 or just corrects their issues contact me so I can use this program again as I have used for 10 years with any issues.
Otherwise I will have to after the holidays be forced to look for new software.
Again I state that PSE was the easiest software I could use and now it is a nightmare.
I decided to drag and drop out of PSE to the desktop and load them in iPhoto and email from there.
    Goodbye ORGANIZER !
    Greg
I am not going to spend hours trying all kinds of gimmicks and 10 step workarounds which as a person with limited computer skills will only get into deeper trouble.  I am already tired and frustrated spending the amount of time with this.

  • File Order

We've been having trouble changing the order of the files in one of our course pages. We want to make it so that the default order of the files in the "Upload Files" matches the numeric ordering of the file names. However, after rearranging the files using the arrows in the "Upload Files" window and hitting "return to iTunes," the order of the files remains unchanged. Going back to the "Upload Files" window, you see the same disorganized list of files.
The feature seems to work in all of our other course pages--it's just this one that we're having troubles with. Has anybody else had this problem?
    Thanks,

  • How to keep a custom file order when exporting a preview cataloge?

I export my LR catalog as a preview catalog for my editor.  He edits the photos, plus, he re-arranges the ORDER (sequence) of the photos for me.
When he exports it as a catalog and sends it back to me, the sequence is lost because I am guessing that the file order sequence will show only on his computer.
Given he cannot rename the files because that will lose the link/connection on import on my end, is there a way he can save the catalog so that the custom sequence stays the same on my end?

    Klaus,
I wouldn't know that Microsoft provides access to the controls that Explorer and file dialog consist of.
There might be a different and more powerful solution though. The
WINDOWS Explorer / file dialog have a plugin API that allows you to
associate your own application for thumbnail creation with a particular
file extension. That way, TDMS thumbnails will show in any instance of
    Explorer and
File Dialog without you having to make your own dialog. Basically, you
would need to compile the VI that creates the thumbnail into a
LabVIEW-built DLL and then wrap this DLL with some C++ boilerplate code
that Microsoft provides. You might want to have a look at the bottom of
this article to get an idea of how the whole thing works:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/0600/w2kui2/default.aspx.
    Hope that helps,

  • File order in FAT HD

    Hey guys,
I'm having a problem with an external HD. I've copied several video files (mostly mkv and avi, sorted into folders) to this external HD (that is FAT formatted). And the thing is, I'm using this HD on a Philips TV, that shows the order of the files as they were written on to the drive.
Is there a way to copy these folders/files and preserv the alphabetical order? The only way I found to do this is to select all the files in a folder, copy and paste, but this will take forever...
    Thanks in advance

First, when posting, try to include a meaningful, descriptive subject, it is easier to keep track of and others that may be able to help or have the same problem will want to read your post.
In the Files Panel, The icon furthest to the right is the Expand/Minimize button, click that, now your entire screen should be your files panel (local and remote),  Up at the top, click Local Files, which should put you back in order.  Minimize, go back to work.

  • File Order In 7

Help please go to open and the files are listed in size order and not name order as they were. Any idea on how to change it back?

    John,
Choose "Detailed" view, then click the name column header. Again if you want to toggle Ascending/descending.

  • File order in site map

This evening I actually accidentally clicked somewhere on the

    subdirectories).

  • Adobe 9 combined files order

I have combined a PDF (ONE MERGED FILE) with several stand alone pdfs with Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.  Please note that the order of these stand alone files in the combined PDF is customized.  However, when I open this combined PDF with Adobe Acrobat Reader 9, the order of these stand alone files within the combined PDF is automatically sorted in alphabetical order.  My question is,
Is there any settings in Adobe 9 that I can choose so that it will not sort automatically in alphabetical order when open the combined PDF in Adobe 9?  Thank you!

You may have better luck asking this question in the Acrobat forums at: http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat

  • List folder file order

    Hello,
New to LabView. I've created a VI which reads and analyzes (RMS and mean power frequency) .txt files in a folder, then appends the data to a single text file. I've noticed, however, that when I remove my for loop and read and write the files individually, I get different values from my 'bulk read' program. I'd like to do one of two things 1) be able to strip off the first 20 characters of the file name and add those characters to the appended file or 2) know how to modify the order in which the .txt files are read and appended. I am analyzing muscle contractions, so the order is of utmost importance. I have attached my VI. Thank you in advance.

Perhaps you are being bitten by the fact that alphabetical order does not always mean numerical order. If your files are text1.txt, text2.txt, etc., then the alphabetical list is text1.txt,text10.txt,text11.txt,...text2.txt,text20.txt.
A few workarounds, if this is the case, but my first suggestion would be to rename the existing files and pad the numbers used in all future measurements.  text01.txt or text001.txt depending on the expected number of files.

  • Archive File Order

When making an archive – a ZIP – file, is there a way to guarantee the directory order? Is the first file placed in the folder to be compressed the first file in the directory? If I have three files – A, B, C – going into a folder that is going to be compressed, how do I guarantee B is the first file in the directory?

I don't actually know how it works but I have noticed that although things may appear in a certain order in the Finder window they may not actually be ordered that way (probably a reflection of the Linux underpinnings to OSX). I think I most recently noticed this when adding music files to Cog player. It adds track 1, then 11, then 12 etc, before adding 2, 3, 4, etc. I just make sure I add tracks by numbering number 1, 01, etc. Technically they may be added in an order but how they appear after unzippng will largely depend upon the settings of the window.
Adding a special character such as an empty space will force an item to the top of a list, by the way.

Is there a way to set CF Admin up so that when viewing log

Debug File Location is */appslog/devsrv_top/utl/seed120/out/130000155.dbg* - can you please tell me where to locate this file?Have you checked the above location?
To generate a debug file, you need to set "OM: Debug Log Directory" profile option to a directory that can be written to by the database. To check this directory, issue (SQL> select value from v$parameter where name = 'utl_file_dir').
More details about generating a debug file in OM can be found in the following note:

  • Bates numbering file order

I am trying to bates number 200 documents- named 1-200 in order. When I add the files to be bates stamped, adobe sorts them 1, 10,11, 12 instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. How do I get around this???

I have the same problem, on a Windows system.  The Bates numbering works fine, but the system will not rename the files.  I cannot get it to work. Anyone have a solution?  Using version 9.1.3 Pro for Windows.
